This is the best meals that my family and I have ever enjoyed from Greene King Branch so far. Right from the entrance, the waitress (Caroline) welcome us with a lovely smile and seated us in a comfy corner. The starter was so appetising and the Main Dishes that followed after 10 minutes was well plated, nicely portioned and delicious. We had no option than to request the presence of the Chef (Chris) and acknowledge his excellent service. In short I can't fault the service in any way. However, I would recommend that the management upgrade most of the furnitures.
On behalf of my family and I, we say a very BIG THANK YOU to both Caroline and Chris for making our day. 💯

M. S.This is such a nice bar! We were greeted at the door and asked to complete track & trace as is the new norm. We were then shown to our table and told how to order. the food and drinks were good value for money. The 3 girls working were all lovely and I would recommend this place to others. The only thing I would change would be to get a fresh lick of paint and some new furniture as it looks tired and worn out.
J. P.Me and my house mates enjoyed our visit here. Even with everything going on we felt safe. The staff were on top of all the rules could see they were confident enforcing them. There was on male staff member just walking round enforcing the rules and we saw him kick one group out for not following them. The food and drinks were great value and the app to order was easy and quick. We will be back again!
T. C.Staff are very friendly and quick to serve, the general atmosphere of the pub is welcoming which is helped by the quaint interior with a classic pub layout.
Food is very high quality with surprisingly short waiting times even during busier periods, and the bar is equipped with a great range of drinks to suit any occasion.
Facilities were cleaned to a high standard and staff are quick to make sure tables are tidied after people have left without disrupting general service to keep waiting at a minimum
M. S.An okay place for a drink. Male toilets could do with a tidy up as the locks on the cubicle doors broken, usually also a lack of toilet paper. Last time I went with a friend, went to order food only to be told they weren't taking any more food orders because they had a big group coming in - no signs anywhere to suggest no more food orders were being taken and the bloody menus were still on the tables! Why have the menus on the tables if you aren't taking food orders?!
Don't really follow a "queue" system at the bar, I find generally that people who arrived after me to the bar get served before myself and never really get an answer why this happens when you ask the bar staff, I assume they want the students' money more than mine?
D. T.This is a very good place to hang out with a big group. They have great choices of beverages and really good seating arrangements. The food is good but a bit pricey for students with a tight budget. I like coming here with my mates and play pool here. The overall ambiance is great.
P. M.Full of friendly people, in the University student zone, keenly priced drinks and child friendly (useful for my family being Chelsea fanatics). Did i mention 3 well maintained pool tables and plenty of sports screens for main events? Fantastic!
A. R.Traditional pub, serves decent food and has a good array of drinks to serve. There are a few pool tables at the back, and a couple of gambling machines. The prices are rather low, as it is placed in a student area. A good place to grab a bite or have a pint, close to the university.
T. X.Nice atmosphere, drinks are well priced, not OTT. The bar staff seemed friendly, and the pool tables were in good condition (£1 a game).
The only reason I'm dropping the mark by two stars, is that the gents toilet cubicles were abysmal. A shame, as the rest was of a good standard. The cubicles were awful. One had a seat, that was attached with no-nails cement (unsuccessfully, i might add); the other was broken off. Neither toilet was flushing, so full of piss and poos. One loo had no paper; the other had a roll that was somehow fallen inside the mechanism, but at least one could get at some paper. Door hooks were broken off, and there were no flat surfaces, so i couldn't put anything down unless i wanted it covered in wee.... Not a fabulous experience, but a shame, as the rest of the place was great.
I know that sometimes, competitors, go and try to sabotage another bar's facilities, to raise costs and try to make the place less appealing. It's possible this is what had happened here, and they've tried to minimise costs... But in the end, a toilet is a pretty important part, for a bar that is aiming to be popular and making good money. I hope they can resolve this issue, in what is an otherwise, great bar.
G. K.The Soak has an enjoyable atmosphere and offers very good prices on drinks and cocktails (with the traditional 2 for 1 on glasses/pitchers available - a student favourite!). The food they serve is also generally very good - I find their burgers to be slightly underwhelming and their onion rings are disappointing (very small amount for what you pay for), but their fish and chips dishes (especially their scampi and battered halloumi) are absolutely delicious and are my usual go-to when I come here to eat.

However, service can take a really long time and it can often be difficult to find seating, even during quieter times.

A. D.Can get very loud and crowded. The drinks are alright. Don't really have good deals on drinks which is surprising since this is a student area. Takes quite some time to get served at the bar, but it is quite crowded most of the time.
L.Nice atmosphere but we ordered food which took an extremely long time to come and was virtually cold when it did arrive. Also not the cheapest pub I've ever been to
G. H.Great atmosphere, friendly barstaff and the food is always worth getting. If there *is* an issue, the team will fix any and all issues. There's a reason this is my local - and you can suggest music, so what's not to love?
A. J.Cool place to chill and watch the world go by in the afternoon. Makes marking homework in a sunny window seat with a good quality, reasonably priced coffee almost pleasurable ;-) I'll try having lunch there next time and report back!
B. 0.Good food and drink. Quite loud and at peak it's hard to get a seat. Their food orders can get lost though. I had to get a refund because my desert wouldn't arrive.
B. D.Pretty nicely furnished, good vegan food, friendly staff. The toilets are terrible though - there was no soap, and even the dispensers had been taken off the walls.
S. E.This is a really nice student pub, with excellent food. The only problem is that it can take an age for your food to come out, so don't eat here if you've got any time constraints at all!
