Lovely pub for a meal, went there before a show at the Hippodrome. Only 4 stars because the menu has limited choice but the food was nice and the service quick. Advise you book a table, especially if you have a show to go to

Had a great night here after going to a show at the theatre. A warm welcome from the staff and good prices for the drinks we like. Too late for food. Will definitely visit again next time we travel to Brum.

Nice small and well turned out pub/bar. I was enticed by the old signage and hoped for some continental beer, sadly not. Looked like some decent UK draft ones though. Wine was acceptable and ambiance for a Tuesday was good. Good venue for China town etc

Absolutely beautiful food. Never had a bad meal yet! You can tell all the meals are freshly made to order and none of this microwave stuff. The staff are lovely, friendly and will always have a chat with you and always welcome you with a massive smile. Now called, The sly old Fox, it's been reworked on the inside and it looks lovely. I had the veggie breakfast which was mediocre, but I have had other food from here which was lovely. The drink selection is amazing, I tried the nettle gin and the honeybee, which if you like gone I HIGHLY recommend trying them! All in it's still a lovely pub to go to.

It's a pub with character (and some oddball characters in it), and there are not many of those about now. It's a theater pub with a shabby (and somewhat dirty) Victorian decor. The beer we had was nice but we didn't eat there. Duke box too loud for me - why can't you have conversations in pubs any more! I said "WHY CAN'T YOU HAVE CONVERSATIONS IN PUBS ANY MORE!"

Busy pub, first class staff who know the products and customers, food was popular I only had a sausage roll served warm with a touch of salad, very tasty. Great range of drinks and nice toilets. Great for pre theater drinks or supper.

This pub was just around the corner from where we were staying, so very convenient for breakfast. We both had a full English, priced at £6.95. Food was hot when it arrived at the table, it wasn't swimming in grease & was very tasty. The sausages, in particular, were excellent. The only fault I can find is that the latte wasn't hot enough for my taste, despite asking for it to be extra hot. Other than that, which is personal taste, I would recommend.

Had a few drinks before going to see a show . Great location as just across from the Hippodrome. lovely clean friendly pub so decided to have steak and Guinness pie which was so delishious and very lean meat. Toilets were excellent in cleanliness and the manager was on the ball asking if all was good with the food. Definitely will be returning here next time for another pie . Great pub! Staff are always very friendly and chatty. I find it a nice place to have a drink and still be able to have a conversation without any loud music or disruptions. The posters on the walls also add to the atmosphere.

It's not a bad old pub, very much on that "traditional boozer" vibe. Staff asked me if I'd like a handle glass for my beer that was great - you don't get that very much any more. Some friends ordered food from the "pub tapas" menu, but the portion size left a lot to be desired - a portion of fish goujons for £4 gets you 3 goujons, each about the size of a fish finger. They tasted great, but you would hope for just a little more. Overall, I'd recommend it. Not anything to sing and dance about, but if you're a party of 2 or 3 and you fancy somewhere to have a decent beer - pop in!

3 of us went, all ordered pasta dishes. I went for Mediteranian and the other 2 went for salmon. It was delicious and very substantial! Surroundings were pleasant and the staff were nice. The pub is opposite the Hippodrome, so a lot of the pub customers are there to see the ballet and other performances

Busy place as used by many theatre goers waiting for their show or visiting afterwards. Tables were full by customers choosing to drink only , so it could do with a drinking area and dining area being thought through. Food was quite dry and unappealing, typical pub grub, but reasonably priced so I guess you get what you pay for..not my type of pub.

Great central Birmingham boozer. Lots of good beer choices and the food is really nice too. I was there with a group of friends recently and we all enjoyed the food. Spent a few hours here drinking and catching up. The jukebox is pretty good too!

Great fun place to be for casual drinks or events from theatre district, brilliant atmosphere, great staff, nothing too much trouble. Excellent selection of Gin, Ales and Lagers and bar tapas and full extensive menu, it's my local I am grateful to say. Try it! Beautiful pub and theatre bar ☺

Booked a table for for by email and had Great service by Ed. Turned up for pre theatre food and pub was heaving as rugby on and theatre matinée chucking out time. Travel was there for us as promised and getting to the bar challenging but staff good humoured and quick. Excellent choice of gins and some good ales too. Food ok but pub grub and nothing fancy however was good value for money too. Pub offers theatre interval drinks too which was a great idea as literally 50yards from Hippodrome doorway. Arcadian carpark just as close so in all for a theatre trip a good venue and highly recommended.👍

One of my go to pubs in Brum centre. Bang n the m8ddle f all that action of the theatre and gay high life but still keeps prices low. Great food and staff. A little constructive tip, a bit more practice to serve the perfect pint.

Good Weatherspoons in Stratford-upon-Avon. Stopped off here for lunch and really enjoyed it. I like going to different Weatherspoons as they usually highlight famous people and moments of that area from the past. You know what to expect from this chain of pubs which handy when in an unfamiliar place.

It was a lovely meal but we had to wait for over an hour for it to arrive due to shortage of staff. When it did finally arrived we had to eat it in 20 minutes because the show we were seeing at the Hippodrome across the road was starting. Other customers complained because they also has the same issue, and 2 customers didn't even get theirs.
