Reviews of The Square Peg - JD Wetherspoon
G. D.
If you've been in a Whetherspoons, you've been in them all. It's quite long, with a long bar, but fairly narrow. The decor does make it look a bit dark which is quite a feat considering it's all windows down the long side.
Service is a bit slow so I'd recommend using the app for table service.
J. i. W. E.
Lovely food and very reasonable prices! Attentive staff that are friendly as well! All round good experience to be fair!
A. P.
Had an afternoon shopping at The Bullring shopping centre and looked for somewhere to eat that would cater for 3 different tastes. The square peg is Wetherspoons, so we already knew it would be reasonable prices. A couple of small errors such as forgot to bring the pepper sauce and also added peas when requested without peas. Very quickly rectified. Staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble. Nice atmosphere bar and restaurant
V.
Had a great evening out with people here, food and drinks were cheap and good quality. Generally a good place with good vibes, lots of space for people too.
Staff were extremely lovely and helpful dealing with a minor incident with some drunkards, especially Megan and whoever the manager on the evening of the 24th.
Would absolutely go again.
J. K.
Really lovely design to the pub and attentive staff. My criticism is that for the size of the pub there was 2 toilets in service and 2 out of service. There was over a hundred people in the store and as. Man you feel uncomfortable using a cubicle for your business when there is so many people there. Staff were very polite.
M. P.
It's a Wetherspoons pub. Not sure what else I can really say. Got served pretty quickly. The pub is really big and has loads of seating available. Drinks are cheap and food menu is quite big. Had some chicken wings which were quite good. Staff all were lovely.
x. x.
Food was fine. Service was quick and tables were cleared and cleaned on a regular basis.
Confusion regarding being served at the bar as there are clear signs stating you have to queue at a till but other people ignoring that and I was also moved away from a till as I was told it was for app orders but no sign up. Better off ordering on the app and then there is no confusion.
A. K.
It's a nice pub with average service. My issue was with my burger, cold and overcooked. But chips and onion was perfect.
V. E.
The atmosphere is a what I call a family time due to shoppers taking there children. The food is ample and they have a large selection. Open from 7am to 12 midnight. Toilets they have 3 in total one for disabilities male and female and the other 2 each end of the building. The TV is on all the time. Free WiFi. And it's very spacious.
s. g.
Usually quite busy, but even so the staff still provide excellent service, they are kind and attentive. The food is nice too, especially the desserts. Great place for a nice quiet drink.
L. A.
As long as I’ve known of this place’s existence it has always be crowded, even within(during) the off-peak times in the morning’s or week-days eg: maybe Sunday but definitely Mon-Thurs there’s a very high possibility it will be crowded in a positive way. Bar staff very hospitable towards their new customers as well as the one or two regulars I’ve consistently seen so to get to the point this place is a location you go to first, during or at the end of your day out👌🏾……..:.
T. A.
9 real ales on. One very long room. Good service.
L. M.
Lovely place for a spot of breakfast while passing through. They even let me come in with my therapy dog.
B. H.
Shame not much micro real ale on but what I had was excellent. Don't know what the idea is for taking the sparklers off the pumps because the beer goes to flat, if its pulled correctly there should be no waste. The gammon was lovely.
M. D.
This was the 2nd time we been here. Again Staff was great, polite / helpful. Meal was really good. Also value for money. If I had to find any fault maybe warm the plates before serving. But that aside 10/10
n. l.
Excellent...cant recommend enough. Decent food at a good price. Nice staff. You know what your getting at weatherspoons.
L. S.
Good steak meal: had the gourmet upgrade and it was very nice.I asked for some mustard and mayo and was advised to get it from the corner point.Pity no mustard there or salt.No one checked if the meal was ok so we sallied on regardless. But it tasted good.
m. a.
Sticky floor and table
Messed the food order up. Just a typical weather spoons
M. P.
Great fisch and chips 🤤 yummy!!
S. L.
Yeah it was nice. Stopped with my Daughter for lunch. Staff were nice and the food was good ...
M. J.
Had a coffee and muffin, very quick and very nice. Guy behind the bar was obviously good at what he did, great service and great place.
J. D.
It's a wetherspoons in Birmingham. The roadworks outside kept none of the characters and charm out of the spacious, nook+cranny layout of the place, and though they didn't have any ales on while I was there, they almost ID'd me for a vodka and soda, which was charming.
c. h.
Good selection of different beers and at a great price, the staff are on it completely... and you know that the food is always spot on for the money.
C. C.
Very nice place to go to and a very good service has been offered by staff, but unfortunately the food wasn't so amazing. It was way too dry, all 4 dishes that we ordered.
R. F.
A great place to visit but could do with a good clean the carpets were looking old and a bit worn but great staff and good ales
K. M.
Had breakfast without beans, not asked if I wanted something else instead of the beans. Tasted nice.
A. J.
Great place for a quiet drink midweek. Staff attentive, polite and friendly. Great beer prices. Staff always on the go cleaning and clearing tables during my visit. Toilets maintained to a high standard. Well done team.
B.
Absolutely a warming place to get a few drinks and dicuss the world with your mates. They serve great food that's far from bog standard. It does get a bit packed so make sure you get there earlier 😉 😀 👍🏾.
J. P.
You can't go wrong with the square peg in my view. It may not be everbodys cup of tea but go there at the weekend and you can be sure of two things, experiencing first hand the hustle and bustle of Birmingham and what a wonderfully diverse group of people reside in this great city. You will also get a great breakfast if that is your kind of thing. Would definitely recommend to people and il be back in the not too distant future. A little bit of constructive feedback though is have the locks on the toilet doors fixed to say would be punters the embarrassment of being walked in on while doing their business.
M. t. g.
Decent place good food and a nice atmosphere, but considering the location they ought to have better toilet facilities. Other than that it's great
L. P.
The Square Peg is a very spacious weatherspoons pub. The bar is very long! Longest iv seen. The food was served hot & quickly. The prices are reasonable.
Good atmosphere when we come in the week. The staff were polite & friendly. They seemed to be 1 big family. Would recommend.
S. H.
Food and drink is good for the price. Staff is lovely. But I don't think is good place for kids. Next to our table was a family with couple kids and they was a quiet loud. Parents too. We just had a bad feeling because they don't seat down, just standing around the table.
T. L.
Not too bad. A bit dark in some areas and didn't have an online menu available. The Square Peg seemed a bit medival apart from the coffee machines.
P. M.
Good atmosphere, reminiscent of another time, most excellent value for money, pub grub, friendly Staff, never had a problem with
service.
A. P.
Had a glass of wine and stayed for about forty minutes. Good atmosphere and the drink's are a reasonable price. Will definitely be going again.
J. B.
Went here on a first date, was busy but was served in minutes every time at the bar, staff were lovely and polite as well. If your asking the date went very well 👍
J. S.
Been a few times, love it, great vibe, lovely friendly staff, atmosphere great, great food, great prices, definitely be coming again, keep up the good work x
J. H.
Very busy difficult to find a table to have a meal even though it is a very big place but that's Witherspoons still very cheap drinks and good quality food that's why it is so popular
A. C.
Fast service. Amazing prices. Big roomy pub. Just how a 'spoons should be.
J. H.
Standard wetherspoons pub chain. Decent prices and reasonable food. Seems a little rough at times so keep an eye on your stuff. However still worth knowing.
p. T.
Great pub Derby fans West Bromwich Albion fans and Birmingham fans having a great time altogether, get that on the TV and papers some good news about football fans. Fish and chips and beer for £8 can't beat that, *****
J. N.
I had a good time here with my friend a few weeks ago. It was the second time. I ate a burger and drank a glass of beer. It was so nice and enough to be full. Also the staff were kind. I want to try other food next time.
F. B.
Good prices, cold beer and fast food. The Burger was not to my taste, but I don't blame them for that.
R. J.
Great pub always busy great food fantastic atmosphere great prices went for a family meal and was very pleased how quick and friendly staff was
P. H.
This pub in town is not too bad .it does get busy . friendly staff .
s. b.
Excellent food, brilliant cocktails, amazing waiting staff would recommend
C.
We've gone as a group of friends who came from out-of-town two evenings in a row.
The service was absolutely stunning, even for an incredibly busy night, just as tonight's was.
-The staff are friendly, helpful, and accommodating (they had run out of a part of my meal, which can happen in any restaurant and, having worked in the restaurant business, completely completely understand, so they gave me a several options to replace it, which was really kind of them. The princess wasn't in this castle, but, here, we have a nice, singing Waluigi instead. I say that's an upgrade).
-The food is piping hot (normally, at most Spoons I've been to, my chips are sadly quite cold, and it's something I've sort of come to expect it and didn't want to make a fuss about, so I was very pleasantly surprised at the warmth and crispness of the ones I got here. Much toasty, very nom).
-The drinks were tasty (a bit low on the alcohol, sadly, but, eh, what can you do? Our bard complained, however).
-The atmosphere was nice (really nice interior with the normal unique-to-location Spoons's carpet. Don't let Doomguy in here. These are nice carpets. Well, I guess it's OK. Wetherspoon isn't the gateway to hell... that's the hole where my dreams go to die. Not a bad place. We have cookies... and a medley of 90s Nickelodeon tunes... and a cardboard cutout of our lord and saviour, Danny DeVeto).
-And, greatest of all- THE TOILETS ARE ALL ON THE MAIN FLOOR (hooray for not having to scale the heights and find our way into Mordor)!!!! XDDD
Greatly recommended if you're looking for a good, local Spoons.^^
R. B.
Typical pub owned by Wetherspoon. Good location on center of town.
P. G.
Good service , and lay out of chairs and tables was accessible . One of the better spoons.
N. R. F.
Brilliant place my wife and myself had our first meal here when we got together. We had a 21st party here on Saturday went really well
J. L.
Bar staff such as Nathan and Megan which are new staff are always lovely when I go in and order. Highly recommend
J. l. P.
Staff are lovely and really helpful always. Always feel comfortable talking to staff if I have a problem.
G. B.
Enjoyable visit. Food and drinks value for money. Recommended why pay more.
P. B.
Me and my dear wife Ellen call this our " honeymoon pub "

After Having a beautiful wedding celebration. 2012
Going places kindly booked us into The Ibis ( Birmingham Airport ) for free.the next day.
Spent a very romantic night 🌙
In and around Birmingham.
Popped into The Square Peg for a glass of fizzy pop and a delicious meal.
On this occasion, we shared a very delicious family meal washed down with a very refreshing drink.
Staff are fantastic.
Fantastic food offers.
Definitely Recommend
G. R.
Breakfast here was actually quite nice for a Spoons. The staff were very helpful and polite & one young lady directed me to the dietary information screen . Even told us where the refill machines for coffee etc were. Impressed that a big establishment like this you didn’t have to walk half a mile to the toilets!🤣.
H. L.
Breakfast and a pint, can't go wrong. Opens that early on a Sunday morning you can go straight there after your Saturday night out
N. M.
It's actually ok food and the woman who served me didn't bug me by asking questions. 👍🏽
D. B.
Nice pub! Enjoyed the food just like any other Wetherspoons, was quite busy but service was still quick and efficient
A. S.
Great vibrant pub and a great place to have a drink great staf well worth a drink.
P. D.
Only had a couple of drinks it was good enough for swift couple passing through city centre.
J. M.
Very nice pub but not the easiest to get to at the moment with all the road works around it
K. H.
Great breakfast after a night of drinking 🤣 hubby really enjoyed it !!
G. W.
Love this place plenty always going on
F. d. l. R.
Pretty standard whetherspoons. Food and drinks are typical and usually nice. Our usual go to place for pub food. Staff are friendly. Can get extremely busy, especially during holiday season.
j. s.
Ordered a hot chocolate went and got one from machine and it tasted like hot water asked the waitress and she said there isnt any thats probably why it tastes like water ☹
A. W.
Nice venue, and good breakfast when they have the stuff in!! The food was prompt but items weren't available. Ordered a sausage on egg muffin and got given a sausage and egg sandwich but good was good and great value
A. S.
Busy, vibrant pub. Has nice food and drinks.
R. E.
Very reasonably priced food no thrills just nice atmosphere very clean and friendly staff would recommend to friends and family
J. C.
It's a spoons. Very friendly service from some of the staff there which was a great surprise! Even had them check up to see if the was okay (considering it's a spoons not bad)
A. D.
Quick service , Great Staff and Absolutely cheap prices ! The staff are attentive and friendly , my first ale experience and ordered chicken jalfrezi which was fine with moderate price .
C. C.
Despite beer issues on one of two visits a good cental City pub. Food served on time and hot.
j. d.
Nice vibrant pub, staff where very attentive and food and drink delivered in no time even tho the pub was packed... As always with wetherspoons drinks prices where unbeatable
j. l.
lovely lunch and food a varied menu and a nice atmosphere a well know place and good for meetings
S. L.
Unlimited coffee for £1.20. Great deal. Also decent coffee. Had a mixed grill. It was OK. Had to keep waving flies off which really put me off. Far too many people to be comfy for me. Would go again for the coffee
N. N.
Good beer.. quite affordable.. found the burgers a little bland though.. but that might just be me..
D. C.
Lovely steak and chips with peppercorn sauce. Last week had the pizza. Food arrives quickly and is excellent value. All staff I've encountered have been kind and professionall
L.
As with most Wetherspoons you get what you're offered and some are better than others. This is a well frequented place and shows signs of this with the cleanliness. A few tables were not cleaned and the toilets weren't in the best condition but on the upside there is plenty of seating and usually a loud atmosphere.
C. B.
4 ladies out for a meal before the theatre.
Lovely food, meals and dessert, served nice and hot and quickly served, lovely selection of gins. Really nice and friendly staff (especially the lady whom it was her first night)
B. M.
Very covid unsafe, staff going from table to table not wearing face masks, lots of people coming In without masks and without sanitising hands, have I missed something? Is covid over and the regulations have changed?
K. B.
Always busy, lots of "characters" but it's central and cheap, you know what you're getting with Wetherspoons.
M. D.
Had 2 large breakfast with coffee was one of the best breakfasts I've had from a chain pub group had a breakfast the next day costing twice as much but was half as nice .this is a very good place to eat
C. B.
Didn't like been hassled by homeless.Good place to people watch.
P.
Typical Wetherspoons. Good beer and friendly staff. Nice place for a pint in the city centre.
d. f.
First choice everytime for a lunch meet up the food is good and the theres a very Brummy atmosphere to it
d. m.
It was nice coming back after 13 years. Not so keen on the quality of service I received at the bar with lady who took my Food order. Might have been a supervisor or manager by the way she was giving orders to staff... The waitors were great, food was standard with potential to be better if audits and quality checks are followed regularly. Would recommend the management to visit up North and experience the level of quality service from other wetherspoon branches (Sterling, Edinburgh, Liverpool).
E. F.
Prices very good. Quite tidy. Had run out of the drink I wanted but was offered an alternative. Breakfast was nice.
S. V. (.
Great service, great food, great place!
I had two meals for £9.25 and brought some 🍺!
10/10 would recommend.
D. A.

M. S.
Typical 'spoons' pub, but, this one is great, fast serving and loads of space inside and out..
C. B.
Lovely staff, food was lovely and very fast. First time to this place too
J. W.
It's a wetherspoons, you know what expect. Good choice of drinks and average food, but at Good prices.
C. J.
A great put in Birmingham Town centre fantastic beer and food prices
B. H.
I've never been here, but I use the bustops outside, inside it looks really nice and I've heard good about it
A. S.
Had to order on the Wetherspoon website for food and drinks. Everything came in a timely manner and was cooked well. Nice cheap and cheerful night
J. W.
Part of Wetherspoon's , quite full , had to look around for empty table , order at table for food and drinks on app , we had meal deal with a drink ,brill prices ,food hot ,staff friendly , cleaned tables ,removed glasses and empty plates quite quickly ,would recommend while waiting for your bus xx
E. D.
Good food even when busy, decent spoons I'd go back to
J. Y.
One of the largest pubs iv ever been in! Soooooo busy with a great atmosphere! Lucky to get a table, ,, and the toilets are downstairs!
M. R.
Clean with friendly staff, so easy to order food on the app
S. H.
Very efficient service. Well laid out and 100% covid19 compliant. Fantastic cocktail menu. Delicious food.
j. c.
It was ok staff friendly but all the tables was very close and people or staff kept bumping into you table. Food editable husband grill was over cooked
D. Q.
Called into the Square Peg for breakfast, typical wheterspoons breakfast, decent enough at a good price.
J. W.
We ordered chicken strips because we love dip but when we got the food they told us they run out of they should have told us when we ordered and I would have got something else
B. D.
Nice food. Steak cooked perfect.
K.
Staff can be a bit rude sometimes but understandable as they work in a crowded place. Food and drink is always brought out quickly here though.
J. B.
Typical Wetherspoons environment. Famous for having the longest bar in Birmingham! I only popped in for a coffee, and was quickly served despite being busy (despite it being before noon). All coffee choices were available and the quality was OK. A little too busy for my liking, but otherwise a pleasant visit.
T. K.
Didn't like the food. Good atmosphere and friendly staff
w. m.
Great staff very welcoming great place for us drivers to get a coffee break
K. P.
Weatherspoons so normal, however, it was infested with pick pockets so did not stay long.
R.
Good amount of students on a Wednesday night, but it is a weatherspoons so don't expect too much.
A. P.
It's a Wetherspoons food pub - if that's where you set your expectation then you'll be fine. The staff were friendly and the food mediocre but exactly as I expected so I was happy enough. It came quickly and was an okay portion size. I wouldn't recommend it for a quiet meal out or for a respectable family lunch but if you looking for a quick meal, or a group of friends who want a drink as well and you're in the middle of Birmingham then it won't hurt. We were there as part of a stag-do which is exactly the sort of place it's suited for. Expect hard floor areas to be sticky, tables to be grubby, atmosphere to be a bit noisy and the smell to be predominantly drink-based and you won't be surprised.
b. P.
Great food. Used the weatherspoons app for the food and drinks to be brought to us. It was quick and effective 🥰
P. L.
Great atmosphere friendly staff good choice on the menu and plenty of good quality drinks to choose from 😊
M. C.
Very friendly staff, eager to accommodate our adapted order. Clean and welcoming atmosphere.
P. W.
Massive wetherspoons with friendly staff and a smart interior
J. W.
Really enjoy visiting this place for food and drinks. The service is of a really high standard and we enjoy sitting in the booths and ordering our drinks via the app on the table. The drinks are really cheap and we always have a great night without any issues.
M. Z. (.
Drinks came quite fast and tasted good! Some seats didn't look good and we're sticky (Table 100) but overall it's a great place!
D. W.
Very busy. Good service. Cheap beer for city centre.
S. M.
It's a 'Spoons, you all know what it does and how it does it. If I had anything to say, this one came across as a bit shabby and grubbier than other branches I've visited relatively recently.
C. H.
Great witherspoons pub, always busy but table service is always quick, food is lovley, staff great
M. R.
Nice pint nice staff only one staff member at one end of the bar he was brilliant the other end of the bar 3 staff members think one was the manager blue shirt on that end of the bar wasn't that busy either so should of helped the other member of staff . nice atmosphere will go again
R. P.
A topical Whetherspoon,s good value for the money but this one a little bit noisy.
M. H. (.
Lovely staff and food but toilets were discusting with no toilet roll, no soap and body fluids on the seats 🤮
P. L.
Very busy, just had a coffee ☕ refill nothing, so good value for money very happy, very good coffee too. 😊
S. B.
What you would expect from Wetherspoons. Nicely decorated and carpets. Made a nice change not to have to go up or downstairs to the toilets. Staff were courteous and friendly.
P. C.
Good sized Spoons. Easily got a table despite it being lunch time. Usually Spoons quality and pricing. Handy location in city centre.
C. B.
After ordering via the app, the food arrived super quickly!! And it was lunch time!
P. R.
Great food and drink at super prices.
Had vegan breakfast and unlimited coffee yesterday and Beyond Burger ( vegan ) with chips today.
Its been a long time since I've been here but won't be long before I return.
H. S.
Was very loud. Many ways to get orders to where you were seated. Security on the door.Mask needed to gain entry. Once seated mask could be removed. Food was good. Ice machine was broken on Saturday evening. Staff very helpful.
D. J.
Huge spoons pub, great selection of drinks and at good prices.
S. L.
Standard weatherspoons pub
Used the app to order food and drinks
No salt!! Apparently problems with delivery. But why they can't go out locally and buy salt is beyond me
Food was nice
Fast and friendly service
A. F.
Wetherspoons, cheap beer and food, can't really go wrong
D. C.
One of the longest bars in Europe! Fine selection of drinks including changing real ales and craft beers. A variety of food. All at cheap prices. Good value. Friendly staff.
M. P.
Good value as always at a Wetherspoons, but it was so crowded, became absolutely jam packed later in evening, and the service was very slow and then ran out of food items we had ordered.
A. I.
Love it
Peaceful place for short time enjoy
Must visit
J. L.
Food quality has gone down hill big time. But it is a spoons you get what you pay for. saving grace is the app service was actually very quick.
D. W. (.
It's a weatherspoons, not much else to say. Decent enough place.
s. w.
Not one of the best witherspoons always a weird atmosphere in there the food on this occasion wasn't great I had pizza but was doughy and greasy staff are very rushed here so be prepared to wait at the large bar ok for now and again visits but really never a great experience
B. B.
Perhaps it's too popular! We struggle to find a table at certain times but it's great for us when we do of course.
L. B.
Hot choc nachine out but sorted assoon asI mentioned it.
J. D. (. D.
Just brilliant, good food and Guinness
J. S.
Brief visit for a quick drink while shopping.
D. L.
I went there on my own never done that before .being a woman .I didn't feel uncomfortable and nice lunch
A. N.
Large bar with a good selection of food and drink
R. I.
Can't say it was anything special, it was late Saturday afternoon and while nothing was wrong with the Square Peg it's nothing to write home about
We had to wait quite a while before being served on every occasion and nothing wrong with the service once again nothing to stand out
S. H.
Love this place staff are always very professional , friendly and caring good is always good too. Thank you
J. B.
We whent in for a quick lunch but was told the kitch was closed we was told why, so we left the premises.
J. B.
The meal was nice I had fish and chip + bake beans meal was very hot staff was very friendly and helpful
A. H.
Good food.. never a problem getting a table, good value for money
R. T.
The essentials of food and drink at sensible prices. Service and staff were excellent food prepared well and quickly. Thumbs up for wetherspoon
G. P.
Cheap and fast orders to your table
E. H.

K. R.
Very good place to go for food.
S. B.
Busy wetherspoons but plenty of seating and not much of a wait for food. Staff are friendly and helpful clean tables / bathrooms etc. Affordable drinks and food goof vegan menu good vegan breakfast.

Enormous Wetherspoons. Usual fare and the ubiquitous sticky carpet. In short, you get what you pay for.
A. B.
Great venue for a pint and a catch up with retired firefighters
D.
Massive pub . Cheap and good selection of cask ales
A. J.
Great place to eat and very good staff
P. C.
It is what it is. A Witherspoon's pub... But serve and food of good quality and service was speedy and of good portion size .. nice value for money
L. V.
Super staff how they seriously put up with grown up men aged at least 50 who you know easily got good jobs but no manners once afternoon match is on n lots of drinks go down by 1pm heaven knows well done guys take my hat off too you all 👌
N. B.
Staff were very friendly and very courteous. Food was delivered quickly and was both hot and tasty.
F. S.
Busy but are not all cheap pubs
Clean, friendly staff.
R. J. B.
One great pint of St Anstels - The Big Job. CAMRA Card owner and lets you use your 50p vouchers here. Always worth a visit, one very popular Wetherspoons!
r. w.
Very busy typical chain pub food and quality
M. P.
Breakfasts were only lukewarm also the coffee. Staff a bit confused as to which tables to take food to, apart from that ok
d. f.
Great place for a Pint at excellent prices. Doombar only £2.19. Staff friendly and the app makes it easy
J. H.
Good food and drink..friendly atmosphere
T. W.
Great place when it's not too busy
I. T.
I went for a chicken meal, but I had to get myself a burger instead. Just like any other Weatherspoon place, the menu is pretty fixed and you can never go wrong with it.
M. L.
First visit to the square peg food and a pint massive pub with a very long bar food came out warm and Guinness was cold what more could you want from a weatherpoons
t. s.
Square peg has improved.
Always go there when in town.Usually full with people
L. W.
Bice place but when Busy it's hard to get a drink
S. W.
Foods great and good beer. It must be good as its alway packed. Friendly staff and food turns up quickly and never had a bad meal here. Only reason its not got 5 stars is you sometimes cant get a seat. Shows how good it is. If you need a meal or a coffee you wont get better in town. Good value too.
p. m.
Very good didn't have to wait to long for meal .cooked just the way we like it .friendly staff clean place to eat not to crowded.
J. B.
Great place, proper beer at a proper price!
S.
Decent pint; lovely staff, a good cheap night out, plenty of seating and well situated in the town.
z. r.
Food was ok not the best. but ok place for a quick eat .
D. R.
Sat watching 3 meals gone back all ready in 5 minutes 😬😬😬
B. L.
Had a pizza which was OK. Ordered dessert which was also OK but the dessert bowls had not been washed properly and had food on them☹
A. G.
Ordered biscuits on the app and they didn't have any but only told us that half an hour later. Also got judged for wanting a bowl of baked beans. Not very social distanced either. Drinks were good as usual and the toilets were clean besides one that was leaking everywhere.
T. C.
Went for brunch with some friends. Staff were very polite and patient, eager to serve and provided helpful information. All facilities were cleaned to a high standard with comfortable spacing around the whole establishment. Lots of seating so despite being very busy it was still possible to find sufficient space for a large group. Food was prepared fairly quickly and tasted great, would definitely recommend to come even if just for some breakfast
P. W.
Very busy but was a Saturday. Quick service recommed
B. K.
Well you know that you will get good value food and drink. The location is great, but a lot of roadworks currently are affecting entry
K. D.
Amazing location great food and company
D. D. (.
Great service despite being packed on a Friday afternoon.
S. B.
Good beer at excellent prices, friendly service, good reasonably priced food
S. W.
Ok for a quick drink after work
P. M.
Went in to the square peg yesterday with my sister,we had a couple of glasses of wine we bought a steak dinner and it was delicious 😋 definitely go back there, it was very friendly atmosphere,5stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
d. g.
Nice breakfast. Good value.
B. B.
One of my favourite weatherspoons. Food is always great and super afordable. Service is quick and the staff are very helpful. Lots of seating, clean and great location.
S. J.
Good food, friendly staff
P. L.
Quick service and good value food.
J. L. W.
Visited this extremely busy Pub during half term. The pub was so busy you had to stand and wait for a table. It was worth it.
Great food, curry fish and chips and burger all served hot in 20 minutes. The team were very friendly and working hard on the floor to keep the tables clean.
Good prices too for a family meal.
R. S.
Great pub. Always busy. Staff very efficient.
J. C. (. J.
Spoons pub in Brum center. Great place to meet and eat. Very helpful and friendly staff which makes visit more enjoyable.
R. B.
It a spoons yes it is a big one all ok I found the staff very polite and respectful had a nice chat with a few of the local people very nice night
K. P.
Love it.. go there quiet often. Friendly staff all willing to help with any thing.
M. H.
Had a nice time nice beer and breakfast
S. F.
Spacious place, good physical distancing. Food was not the best as prelockdown standard. However as always fast service, and good price!
D. J.
my experience here was one for the books. The service was great and the staff were extremely friendly. a girl called Temi was particularly exceptional. she made the stay there better. will definitely be coming back
C. C.
Clean and tidy, it's laid out very well. While food is available in all areas of the square peg. The front can be coffee and there Is a car clean and long bar, and ample seating at the end. TIP: I would make use of their app to order food for your table. Same price but more efficient. I would recommend their burger and pancakes
N. W.
Very busy bar. Fantastic food and atmosphere. Felt safe here.
W. S.
I LOVE THERE FISH AND CHIPS!
Good meeting spot to meet friends.
The staff can sometimes be rude and discriminate.
Long ques at the bar when you want to order food.
Bar staff are rude.
Hygiene is very low at the table and chairs.
Could do with more waiters and waitresses.
R. h.
Its big and nice
L. F.
Friendly welcoming pub, not everything was on the menu & it required more staff on duty.
M. D. F.
Very lovely wetherspoons with tons of seating. Very lively atmosphere but usually very loud, so difficult to have a conversation. Service was pretty fast for such a busy pub. Very convenient location for city centre, and a nice way to pass the time. Food quality is okay, it's nothing fancy but when you just want easy food that tastes pretty good, you can't go wrong. Drinks are also decently priced so absolutely recommend!
G. K.
Great place to spend some time, food is also verry good, cleand and friendly staff.
S. H.
All good fantastic value for money.
R. S.
Huge pub.Love it.Prices are real good
S. G.
Decently priced beer with nice food
N. P.
It's a wetherspoons so food and drink options were as to be expected, despite how busy the placecwas the service was fantastic and we were not left waiting for any real length of time.
j.
Great prices and really quick service. It's a massive pub too so always a place to sit and now has screens between tables for social distancing
M. S.
Good beer, cheap food that's reasonable. Can't fault it. A reliable city centre pub.
M.
A quick drop-in for a pint of Abbot Ale. Beer was good, and served by Sylvia, who is very friendly and professional.
J. A.
Fast service and pretty good quality food. I always order the all day brunch and it always hits the spot.
This branch is usually quite busy as it is in the city centre.
I would recommend ordering from the app so that you don't lose your table as these can be rather hard to find.
J. W.
My partner and I had a lovely breakfast with coffees . Very pleasant staff , comfortable pub.😊
c. m.
Very busy and you need to be quick to get a seat but it's a nice place to have a drink or something to eat.
s. b.
Had a lovely meal with my granddaughter who I hadn't seen for a long time due to covid. Service was quick, used the App.
J. W.
You can always expect and receive the best food drink staff and premises
J. R.
Great place for a get together, pleasant staff very helpful and friendly, food great .
r. m.
Warm good service, toilets could do with a little attention.
M. D.
Huge pub, really nice atmosphere
J. C.
Went in with my partner and it was very busy so we did consider leaving, but as weatherspoons has a app we decided to stay as we wouldn't Queue. We expected a long wait but at max only had to wait 10 minutes so was very impressed with that.
The food was really nice with no complaints there. Unfortunately though the sauces were all pretty much empty except on a few tables, other than that it was a good meal.
M. S.
Cheap and cheerful good to start to the night
k. y.
My local place which i visit like 3 times per week. They do 20% discount on Mondays which i love it and their prices are fair. If you want to have a good night out with friends + family then try this place. Bear in mind, sometime there still tables are unclean once you arrived. You can always ask the staff to clean it for you.
M. B.
Busy when we were there, didn't have to wait very long to order food, and it arrived quickly. Food was not up to the usual standard, eggs we're rubbery and looked like they had been hanging around for a while, and the chips 🍟 were a bit dry. Looks a popular place so maybe we were just unlucky.
M. N. (. . S.
It is a nice place to eat food with friends and family but not working here because they are giving you too much pressure and too much work for one .
Thank you
m. g.
Food lovely reasonably priced
H.
Really nice and relaxing place. Prices are reasonable with many changing elements of menu so there's always something new to try and see. Shame when I came few times after seeing sign outside with promotion they were sold out of a everything on it. What's the point having a sign outside when don't have anything on it? Still most of times I've been there it's was quite enjoyable and service great.
W. C.
It's brilliant in here peacefull I was in there two days ago I love it here they also sell food you have to sit at table and wait for staff to come over you have to sign a form when you go in for covid 19 tracing just name how long you gonna be in there small form a women was coughing really bad everybody looked at her so I was forced to tell staff and what table she was sitting at I certainly don't wanna die or end up in hospital covid I was forced to tell staff she could of infected the whole room really bad
J. E.
Very good service food is excellent but today bad service nobody new what that were doing behind the bar still the same ain't changed ✅
T. T.
Not the cleanest place but reasonably quick service. It was very busy so most of the tables were occupied the empty few still had glasses or plates on them that hadn't been cleared away. We did use the app to order drinks so they was great and the chap who bought the drinks over was very pleasant
j. m.
Me and my friend went here and we ordered at the same time his food got to the table about 5-10 minutes before mine did, my food was okay it wasn't that hot and my friend said that his just tasted weird.
C. P.
This is a busy City Centre JD Wetherspoon Pub. As always the staff are very well trained and focused on delivering excellent customer service. The staff are happy to engage in conversation and have a good knowledge of the food and drink on offer.
The range of drinks on offer is extensive and of a good standard with the expected great value for money.
The food is great value and caters for all with an extensive range of menus available for those with specific dietary needs.
When the bar is busy the APP is very handy for receiving table service without the need to queue for a period of time.
The only issues are that the toilets need a refurbishment and the not all of the coffee machines are working. The pub needs some investment.
C. D.
Great food, cheap alcohol and a great atmosphere. From service at the table via the app and a big screen to watch the rugby, I was set for the day and then into the night. By being nicely placed in town it's easy to get to and great access for taxis when planning to call it a day and head home.
C. M.
Fast service, good location and layout, friendly staff and didn't feel too crowded!
E. M.
Visited today, fish and chips were gorgeous, nicest chips we have had in a long time. Staff were friendly and helpful. Place was really busy as it was lunch time but got a table after a minute or so. Couldnt fault the place today, big improvement from when we visited 2 years ago (food was terrible then). Looking forward to another visit soon 😊
A.
We visited here for second time and were happy with food and service. Each time we had a little party/meeting with friend and location is excellent. No bad points to the food. Service very helpful and friendly, really worth the stop when in the centre.
C. M.
Due to location it is a very busy pub with a good atmosphere the bar is busy and takes a few minutes longer to be served but staff are seemed helpful. Although we did not order food it did look tasty and looked like it came out from the kitchen quite quickly. The facilities are clean and easily accessible. So overall we were quite pleased with our visit.
G. B.
Very nice pub very crowded thou large bar plenty seats not bad prices
J. B.
It’s a Wetherspoons. It has its place in life, regardless if you want to go there or not.
M.
Brilliant pub, cheap and cheerful. Great staff and great atmosphere.
a. b.
The pub is in a good place in Birmingham and is on the corner near to bus stops so easy access
G. M.
Excellent service good for Drinking
S. C.
Missed breakfast unfortunately, had to have this whopping meal instead. No complaints, it was delicious!
A. H.
The place was very full on the Saturday I visited. The food arrived via the app in 10 mins. But after 20 mins the drinks had still not turned up and I had to go to the bar to get them. They were sat on trays with about 6 other orders. Overall a reasonable experience. I just think the drinks servers need to be as good as the food serers
S. M.
Lovely pub great location in the centre of town access poor at the moment due to major works on tram system that has fenced off and limited access
R. M.
Good location in the heart of the city. cheap drinks as with most venues operated by this company. Reason I took off a star is firstly because the cocktail pitcher was mainly ice and the toilets were quite poorly maintained - lots of graffiti and I don't think either of the toilets in the gents had a toilet seat and at least one of the cubicles had no toilet roll holder so the toilet roll was just put on the rear of the toilet bowl which doesn't seem very hygienic - especially not during COVID.
A. E.
The Square Peg is always very busy which some may not like.
S. C.
Excellent breakfasts served here, intact never had a bad meal here. Bar staff are always friendly and attentive. Would recommend to all for value for money. Can get a little rowdy at times.
R. P.
Their breakfast is a treat and half .
S. M.
Cheap beer and food, great service and friendly staff. Perfect for those pre night drinks. Food is tasty too and mine arrived so quickly I was genuinely surprised when it came. This made me slightly worried as to it's quality and 'freshness', no need though. Food was hot and tasted great.
D.
I was somehow made into someone's imaginary brother so they could ward off a weird man who wouldn't leave them alone. We made a family out of the pub and did stuff with earrings. This is The Square Peg. -1 star for creepy man!
w. t.
Full at times but doesn't stop the staff from doing a good job. Food is what you would expect from any witherspoons.
G. W.
Its a Wetherspoon pub in the centre of bham could do with a refurb started looking a bit jaded
S. D.
Not located in a particularly nice place. Very convenient but often surrounded by weirdos. Lively, well laid out with lots of seating but the chance that someone will start shouting at someone outside.
Otherwise, it's a weatherspoons with all the stuff you would expect like a good drink and food selection. Staff are very nice, and it's good for a quick one or two before heading out, but I wouldn't settle down for an evening here.
R. B.
Typical city centre Spoons. You know what you'll get!
B. R.
Decent wetherspoons, very thin but with a long open bar area. Nothing outstanding feature wise but nothing negative with the pub itself.
K. S.
It's a Witherspoon's, cheap and cheerful.
T. B.
I used table service on the app, to order food and drinks. It wasn't that busy, knew I would wait a bit for food.
However the food came before the drinks, I could see that my drinks was already made and they was still sitting by the bar. My friend tried to speak to a staff but he got completely ignored. In the end I had to get my own drinks after waiting over 20 mins because no one was handing out the drinks orders.
I. K.
Pleasant enough pub, has the usual Spoons issue of being quite dark with dark furniture, which isn't great as a visually impaired person, thankfully one of the people i was meeting saw me come in and grabbed me. First time I've had trouble with the app, with text and selection options off the screen... as with all pubs can get noisy and temperature varies between hot and cold. Close to the three main rail stations, on the tram, near shopping areas, good value, as with all spoons.
M. A.
This pub is almost always busy, so getting a seat/table can be tricky. It's a loud and busy pub which if your comfortable with that can be great. I prefer quieter pubs now but it's good for a swift one before moving on. I avoid this pub on friday - sunday nights because its heaving. That's a personal preference but its right next to the buses so that's a big bonus if it's the last pub of the night
C. D.
2 for 12 on pitchers great awesome best night I had
R. R.
Great 'Spoons right on the heart of Birmingham, great for a quick beer / food stop while shopping as all busses and trams stop there so easy to access
P. G.
Went in for food about 1730 on a Sunday. Ordered via app and food came quick and it was nice. However when I tried to order dessert nearly everything out out of stock! 😞
Pub is a bit worse for wear but fine.
M. H.
Nice warm welcome and the cheapest drinks you'll find in a city centre.
p. b.
Long bar and good service considering how big the pub is. No pizza on my recent visit May 21st
T. S.
I met my partner here for an evening meal, we arrived about 7pm The pub seemed very busy near the door and large TV screens. however It is a long thin layout and there were plenty of seats at far end, we chose a booth but were shocked to find the radiator was red hot, in the middle of a heat wave,! clearly something wrong with controls or settings.
It was a Wednesday so it's chicken night, fixed price deal including drinks. I had breast strips and salad, the food was fresh and service was quick. I opted for gin and tonic. Very refreshing over loads of ice.
By the time we left the pub had slmost emptied.
E. W. (. b.
Still a nice place to got to after all these years
B. W.
Yes had not for some time
Good food and a nice drink will be back soon thank you
R. H.
The best thing abiout this is the food really good size portions and not expensive so a great meeting place in town
J. H.
Had a good Afternoon in the Square Peg. Meet old friends and colleagues.
P. M.
Pretty typical 'spoons. Decent range of beer, well kept real ale. Mix of old soaks and folks just in and about the city centre. Didn't try the food, but I assume as middle of the road and reliable as any other pub in the chain. Great prices as ever.
H. R.
Great service nice atmosphere...
S. F.
Very nice meal, staff very pleasant and helpful, i would recommend a visit.
B. W.
Good range of beer at a decent price
D. P.
The Pub is in a good central location, which is especially useful as it is quick to walk to from surrounding area around the town centre. As it is a wetherspoons the prices are very reasonable, which is especially attractive for students wanting a good night on a tight budget. Obviously the Friday and Saturday nights are very busy, from about 4 onwards the pub is full of people eating and this merges into groups drinking around 7 onwards, would recommend getting there for about 6:45 if you want a table to last the whole night.
J. S.
Ok, food was reasonable, although nothing to write home about. Not overly child friendly but good location.
Suggestions following reply: A bit of reorganising of the seating in the dinning section to allow some more space between the tables for people with children and pushchairs would be good. Found it quite difficult to work around people to get children to toilets. Food was ok but a bit less greasy and fresher salad would have made it nicer.
a.
Great breakfast, wait was a little long but the food was great!
C. (.
Great to meet or even just to eat great variety of beers ales and food too
P. J.
The toilets are all on the ground floor! It also has the longest bar in the bar in the county, apparently...
B.
📍put me on the map, forever grateful. Bless to the victims of Eiffel.
D. R.
Food came fast and was nice. Went to the toilet came back and all our drinks had been cleared!
d. c.
Huge Wetherspoons and everything as you would expect. Ed is a legend
J. M. D. L.
Great for food and drink for when you just want to relax
E. O.
Always love the Square Peg. No matter how jam packed they are they treat you lovely and food is always fast. Drinks are super cheap as expected as it's a wetherspoons. The atmosphere is always chilled too. Definitely recommend.
N. D.
I visited for lunch with my daughter. The wait to be served at the bar was around 10mins. Which is a lot less than I've waited here in the past. I asked for what I wanted for lunch but they didn't have it so I asked for a pizza. They didn't have them either. Then I was told there was no fish either which was what I was going to ask about next 🙁 So I ended up having a burger and a pint of Coors. Which was lovely despite not being what I wanted. My daughter got what she wanted first try as it was a burger and she enjoyed hers too. The food here is a little more expensive than other Wetherspoons establishments but I think the prices are still fair.
J. R.
I give every Wetherspoons the same review because they're always so consistent. Table service, decent food at crazy cheap prices. Obviously they don't play music so you have the usual sound of chatter.
K. W.
Lovely food although very cramped seating area
A. T. M.
This is probably 1 of the best wetherspoons in the city centre. Food is always done to perfection and the staff are always happy to help and assist where needed. Most of the time there is s good atmosphere and everyone just wants to have a good time. Ramsey ain't got nothing on this place!
C. D.
This is my regular place to come to if I'm out shopping for the day I remember a few months ago I came in here for a drink minding my own business when some characters come in running their mouths thinking they are bad trying to start on staff don't need to see all of that people just want a peaceful drink and be on the way I be back after lockdown 2
s. c.
Just your typical wetherspoons, staff were polite , food was great
D. B.
Lovely food,
Tastes amazing friendly staff
The curry’s there are perfect 👍
I give it 5 stars ⭐️
J. W.
Managed to find a seat on a Saturday which was a bonus!
L. T.
I used to dine here regularly and the pub was closed for cleaning or refurbishment. I know the staff work hard but everytime I visit, if the tables aren't clean, there's food on the floor which is off putting especially when you're hungry. Otherwise, a friendly team of staff serving always.
a. b.
Great Customer Service, ordered Burger and Chips which was Pukka. Would be 5 stars but there was no Hop House 13 Lager.
T. C.
Another decent Wetherspoon pub. Great choice of lagers and Ales.
Well priced with lots of seating areas
The staff are switched on and table service available for all.
A good pub to visit and another great example of what wetherspoons do well.
J. B.
Nice place to chill out❤😃👈
R. M.
Wetherspoons pub, good food & drink at fair prices, would recommend
T.
Always used to go here for a pint and some food, still do occasionally. Good for a few mates to catch up and have a few nice drinks before a night out. Bar can be a little slow but if using the Weatherspoons app it's not an issue.
S. H.
Great food and nice atmosphere, decent meet up spot for a drink
K. B.
Very busy, nice food but had to clean our own table as short staffed
J. H.
Great value restraunt with a good all round menu. Food is as you would expect for the price but all in all highly satisfactory. Although I received a small pot of "sauce" on the side of a vegetarian lasagne and it was full of cut human hair so not always the best quality control.
M. R.
The square peg is one pub in Birmingham that I feel will not shut it's doors. The foods nice and arrives speak and it was tasty and hot. The place is always packed so expect and lively atmosphere.
J. T.
Nice pub, cheap drink. Breakfast looks good on paper, but when delivered it is on a cold plate and bearly warm. Such a shame, as this pub could make a fortune, if the manager focused on what was coming out of his kitchen.
S. F.
Great place to meet, and a decent pint. Table service excellent
C. C.
Is the relaxing place with friends.
G. W.
Good food and fairly quickly served. Can get very busy most times. Good prices. Condiments are hard to find if they've got any at all, sauce bottles can be empty
G. Y.
My favourite Wetherspoon in the city centre. Usually pretty packed when I visit, but arrived around 7:30am to find a totally different pub. I'd popped in to enjoy a coffee and was able to do so in comparative peace and quiet. Apart from a handful of people tucking into breakfast, the small army of staff were busy ensuring the whole place was spotless and tidy.
T. W.
The highlight of this pub is the staff!
A genuinely lovely team of people who despite putting up with a lot of nonsense from the occasional idiot who wants to ruin everyone's evening, continue to deliver excellent service to the customers.
The guest ale selection is always pretty good, and the food is consistently nice.
A very lively pub that's always a laugh to visit after work with friends and colleagues.
S. P.
Vegan burger was under garnished. They could at least put some lettuce and tomato on it.
What about vegan cheese as an optional extra?
J. H.
Ooooo lovely wetherspoons!!!!! Packed though being a Saturday afternoon but we'll worth a visit
D. M.
Pretty chilled atmosphere as it should be, ideal if were open longer
E. D.
Had a steak with mash. By the time i ordered and paid member of staff took my belonging from the table and seated someone else on my table. I told him that i am at the bar anyway - didn’t took notice I suppose. Found another table when food came the what supposed to be well done steak was medium and the mash was horrible. Shandy however was ok not sure how clean the glass was
S. V.
Good food and price. Staff are lovely.
L. K.
Was very friendly , clean and popular. Will definately go back again
A. V.
Just like a square peg in a round hole this pub fails on most requirements.
The beer is ok, and very cheap.
If someone spent a reasonable amount of effort cleaning this could be a great place. As it stands make sure you wipe your shoes on the way out to keep Britain tidy!
i. r.
Long bar is the distingtive feature of the pub. Very busy with staff attentive both at the bar and in cleaning tables. Food brought to the table quickly but overall quality reflected the price paid. The beer ordered was excellent.
J. C.
Great breakfast food wonderful courteous staff pleasant demeanor staff helpful
D. B.
For such a huge place I thought it would take an age for food to arrive... But the service was incredibly quick and really good quality too. As always you never feel cheated on portion size and the atmosphere although packed to the gunnels, was great... It had a really happy vibes about the place!
C. R.
It's a Spoonies', quick, cheap, excellent food and drink. Helpful staff, top score.
D. d. K.
Amazing restaurant with great food. The staff is friendly and they have fast service. The food is cheap and you get a lot of it. Great place to get breakfast. There is a lot of choice in different types of food. Strongly recommended.
T. H.
Looks massive from the outside but when you go in, it's very wide but not at all deep so a bit cramped. Service through the app though was very good considering how busy it was but had a very dodgy pint of Carlsberg which I didn't get half way through. Also seemed a bit grubby. Three stars based on comparisons to other Wetherspoon's pubs. One of the less impressive in the chain.
