I visited to try out the new menu that has arrived at the Victoria. The food, as always, was absolutely exceptional, which is a reason why it’s one of my favourite pubs. Not only was the food amazing but the service from Erin and Reece was top notch. If you’re after beautiful scenery, outstanding food and great service then don’t hesitate to visit the Victoria! Ticket number: 152 We recently tried the new menu and we were really impressed with what we had. Starters: •PAN-FRIED WILD SCALLOPS: ras el hanout, smoked haddock Florentine bonbons, celeriac purée, apple & fennel tartare - £11.50 •ASIAN-STYLE CRISPY DUCK SALAD: cucumber & mooli ribbons, shredded carrot & cabbage, watercress, spring onion, plum, sesame & hoisin sauce - £7.25 Mains: •ROSEMARY AND BALSAMIC LAMB SHANK: maple roasted carrot, green beans, creamy mash and a rich Bordelaise sauce - £22.95 (special) •ROTISSERIE HALF CHICKEN: fries, rich chicken gravy, aioli - £14.50 Desserts: •ICE CREAM & HOME-BAKED TRIPLE CHOCOLATE COOKIE - £5.75 •STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING with honeycomb ice cream - £6.95 The scallop starter was cooked to perfection and the apple and fennel tartare was the perfect accompaniment to the seafood. The duck salad was light and fresh with the ideal amount of dressing and a good portion of duck, which was lean and flavoursome. The mains were also delicious. The lamb fell from the bone, the mash was a golden buttery marvel, and the Bordelaise sauce had so much depth of flavour you’d drown! Honesty! Marvellous 👏🏽 The rotisserie was ordered with BBQ flavour which was a good balance of smoky and sweet. The chicken was moist and the gravy was another triumph from the chefs; a wonderful umami flavour that brought what could be a standard dish to another level. The sticky toffee pudding was comfort in and bowl. The sauce wasn’t too sickly sweet and the honeycomb ice cream was a perfectly creamy compliment. The staff were super friendly and attentive and Erin who took care of us was a credit to The Victoria. We hope we are sat in her section next time we visit. We will definitely be visiting again because we loved the menu and can't wait to try more…We've got our eyes on the maple glazed pork belly & scallops, and the chicken, brie and bacon pie for next time.

Haven't been to the Victoria but have seen it from the train on many occasions so thought we would try it. We had a table for 6 and was served by Jess, I must say possibly the most attentive waitress I have come across, she made the night very special. The menu was excellent, presentation over quantity, all meals were quality, and that's important. Derren certainly played his part in that. They had a nice touch with desert and drink as well. We left knowing we would go back for certain, and I would recommend this venue, ticket 202

I had a lovely visit there sat in the sun for coffee. Ate a very good meal was happy with service portions taste presentation. The place was smart and comfortable. My only dismay was the need to ask for a key for the toilet!! Which I detest so much, it's so demeaning! Being less able we are faced with enough difficulties with out having to ask for a key to use the toilet. And made worse by their huge old Christmas bow decoration dangling from it " to keep it safe and returnable!" So everyone knows what you are about to do and God help you if you lose it or take it away!! Okay the idea to keep the toilet accessable for people with disabilities is a fair comment because there are others who think it's okay to nip in and I think that's fine too we all need to pee but the asking for the key and carrying the big bow of shame just blew my mind. I did speak to the duty manager and he said he would pass that on to Aaron the manager. Hopefully it's been addressed now.

I've been going here for years, through its many many facelifts and ownership changes, by far this is the best the pub has ever been, for food anyway. Beautiful place and reasonably priced.

We have been here twice in the last couple of weeks.... first for a meal outside and second for a meal inside. We enjoyed both visits very much. The service and friendliness of the staff was excellent and their attention to the extra covid19 measures required was good. The food and drinks as usual was also excellent. 183. A good mid-week meal with excellent service and plenty of choice on the menu. I had the 'special' which was lamb shank and my friend had the fish/chips then we both had the 3-cheesecake dessert which had minimal biscuit crust so nicer than the usual version.

Visited here on a Thursday night. Excellent service, the team were super friendly and nothing was too much of an ask. The food was also lovely, we the seabass and fillet steak which were incredible. Live music really made the experience. Would definitely be returning, couldn’t recommend enough!

Overall we enjoyed our meal this evening despite a couple of small issues. The lamb kofta starter was very nice, and would certainly have it again although the kofta were over cooked. Belly pork and scallops (pork very burnt) nearly sent it back but didn't and it was actually very tasty. Chicken and brie pie was very filling and well worth a try. Not a huge vegetarian choice so went for pizza which despite additional toppings was not a good choice as it was tasteless. Sticky toffee pudding was very sweet, didn't like that, but served with loads of custard which I did like.

Visited the Victoria, Barnt Green on Wednesday 11th May 2022, received a very warm welcome, the server George was very friendly and helpful and asked us if we enjoyed food after every course. The lamb shank was melt in the mouth and the vegetables were roasted to perfection, big shout out to chef Juri. The trio of cheesecakes were delicious and we really enjoyed everything. Our raffle ticket entry is number 378. Thank you so much to the team, we can’t wait to come back again.

Booked online to celebrate the girlfriends new job for an early dinner. Arrived car park was large and easy to get into. Walked in and waited at the front door to be seated. Didn't wait long but I could see two people behind the bar having a laugh and a joke and not paying attention to the front door. Was seated and we asked to change seats which wasnt an issue helped that it was empty at the time. I was a little disappointed that I had mentioned in the special requests we were there for a celebration and wanted mocktails. But none of this was mentioned by either the person seating us or the waitress which would have given at a more personal touch. The food was good though. I had the Kofta starter and tried some of the squid rings. Both lovely. I then had the chicken pie which was amazing. The pastry a little tough but overall I enjoyed the food.

Friend and I visited today for lunch. Understandably busy due to Christmas. Service was friendly and we were made aware of a wait on food. Regularly asked if we needed anything/drinks. Lovely decorated pub/restaurant, with comfy seating and fantastic interior design. Good drinks variety and reasonably priced. There’s a large car park out back too to accommodate. They also have a glass outdoor seating area, which looks great for private parties and functions. Haven’t a bad thing to say about the food either - good portions and relatively okay on the price. As my Mrs said they have a variety of cocktails too, with very friendly and pleasant staff to help.

Food as usual was of a good standard but sadly let down by the floor manager. We had, had our starters and main meal then ordered our desserts, which we were waiting for, when the bill was put on the table by the floor manager. We questioned the waitress why the bill had been brought over, she said she was sorry and it was a mistake. However, as soon as we had finished our desserts the floor manager came over and asked us to hurry up as the table was booked again in a few minutes. As we were about to leave we asked for the end of meal chocolates that were part of the package we had booked. The waitress asked the floor manager who, with a very definite agitated face, went into the kitchen. When she reappeared she handed us a small plate with some small pieces of brownie on and said they didn't have any chocolates. Not all of us had a peice of brownie as we had had brownie within our dessert. Very disappointing end to our meal, we were made to feel most unwelcome, as a party of 5 we had spent a fair bit and were quite upset at this. We also felt that when the meals had been pre booked and the small chocolate was part of that, they should have had them as they knew how many people were eating. Plus the only vegetarian option on the set menu, mushroom wellington, was unavailable and was substituted with a nut roast.

Have been here many times in the past after getting fed up with the Barnt Green inn. Superb, friendly service from a lovely waitress. She was an absolute star though unfortunately we didn't get her name. Bit too much chorizo on the menu ( which I don't like) which limited my choice and the linguine ended up being very hot from the sliced chillis. I appreciate my tastes are not everyone's, but simple sea bass would have been good. However my friends loved the chicken Milanese.

One of the best Sunday roasts I've ever had. Gravy was fantastic (it's very hard it seems to make a good glossy gravy!), and the vegetables were fresh and assorted (kale, asparagus, peas, carrots). Really recommend it.

Tasty food, great service, even in torrential rain! The outdoor section they have is really nice, there is a gazebo area which looks lovely, plus looks as though it protects very well from the rain. I unfortunately did not get to sit underneath the gazebo section, but instead sat on a bench outside of it underneath an umbrella, each table has an umbrella but unfortunately the umbrella is not quite big enough to cover you around the table, I believe as it is more of a sun umbrella than a rain one. However if you bring your rain coat and don't mind a bit of rain the staff were very accomodating considering it was so rainy! And the food was delicious, I had the plant based burger and my friend had a chicken salad I believe which also looked amazing, it even comes with a small side of pickles! 😋 Thank you!

We had lunch at The Victoria and we were delighted with service / quality of the food. The restaurant has made some excellent adjustments to ensure that guests are in a covid secure environment. We were served by Megan , who made sure we were fully aware of the dietary information. This was really helpful and Reece , who was the chef on duty made sure we had all the information we needed. It was a really enjoyable visit.

The staff at the Victoria are always friendly, accommodating and helpful. The menu is regularly changed, so there is always something new to try on return visits. The food is well cooked and tastes excellent. This is the place we choose to go to to celebrate special events. On our recent visit, my wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and everything was perfect.

This place is a nice pub with great drink selection. Food menu is nice although a little commercial in places. The main problem with this place is the Barnt Green Inn, which is owned by same company. The menu is identical but seems a little better cooked. Just wish this place tried a different theme to give Barnt Green two unique venues instead of two identical.

Haven’t been to the Vic in a very long time, but after lockdown I thought that the wife and I deserved and treat. It was our first proper trip out of the house in months & we had a stunner of an experience. The host on the door was warm and welcoming as soon as we stepped in, offering us hand sanitiser immediately and then taking a moment to talk us through the process for the afternoon. I had a fantastic ham egg and chips, the wife had a duck salad which she said she really enjoyed. Topped off with friendly waiters and good social distancing in place across the board - I’ll definitely be back! On our way out, Aaron (the host) asked me how everything was & was kind enough to help us book in for next week! Thanks to all the team at the vic for making us feel so welcomed and comfortable! Honestly fantastic! The service was friendly and very natural, not forced in anyway! Our waitress Kiran was lovely and gave us recommendations when we couldn't decide. Such a lovely pub and the restaurant area looked lovely although we didn't use it. We only popped in for a drink in the garden but thought it was lovely. And the outdoor party bit looked great for an occasion. Love the décor, it was all very clean and the staff were polite and friendly.

Great country pub in Barnt Green, a short walk away from the train station. Can either serve as a starting point for a country walk, or to stop off for a well earned treat after exploring the area. Or can easily can spend several hours in one of their comfy chairs. Warm and inviting in the winter with an open fire, or with a fantastic beer garden in the summer, the Victoria is one of my frequent calling points.

Menu is rather pricey but the food does not quite live up to it. Ordered pork with scallops and the extra £5 buys you TWO small scallops and a bowl of peas & cabbage was nearly £4. We were quite a large table but the wait was lengthy and when we did get our food my partners portion was significantly smaller. For a £19 main you need to do better.

This is my mum and dad's favourite pub. However last night the service was poor . Lip stick on the wine glass. Plates, glasses and starters left on the table for far too long. The pork red wine jus was bovril....yuk... the pork crackling was awful. I actually spat It out...they had lost our booking. Took 3 staff members to stare at a screen to decide where we could sit. The mushy peas were foul. Hard bits of something in my wifes scollop dish. Dad is too polite to complain. I'm not. It seemed to us that the staff were overwhelmed because there was not enough of them. We have been regulars for years now and the food is getting worse . It was an awesome gastro pub but now i feel like im paying top dollar for mediocre food. Hugely dissapointed...we will be back to try again. Hope it's not our last visit..

I have to walk past 2-3 other pubs to get to the Victoria, and I've only ever been in those a handful of times. The Victoria has friendly staff (who also have good banter), great food (try the venison ragu), and a good selection of drinks (try them all). I have never waited too long for food, and on the occassion that I suppose I did, complementary nibbles were brought out before I even had a chance to realise. Whenever I need to get out of the house to read or generally chill, this is where I come.
