C. V.Interesting heavy metal bar/pub without the abusive security company door staff employed at The Bear Cave on the opposite side of the road. In the early part of the weekThe Anvil has no officious door staff on duty at all while at the weekends the ones they have are courteous and pleasant to customers rather than behaving in an officious, rude, aggressive and threatening manner as seems to happen at The Bear Cave with anyone older and on their own who they probably think won't be spending as much money as their other younger and also generally very drunk average customers.
M. D.Discovered this gem of a pub on the last night of my holiday in Bournemouth, wish I'd found it earlier as it's just my kind of place and full of my kind of people.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the band playing in the basement was one I'd actually heard of - Raging Speedhorn.
The drinks were competitively priced too making for a great night out.
