We will be honest but our beef Sunday meat experience last October & me being fed up with the covid menu almost seen us off. Today marks the return to Bridgends finest with a great new menu to choose from. Secretly I hope the specials board returns but one step at a time. Fantastic service & food. Thank you all Xx😍🍽️👍👍

Super gezellige inrichting, bovengemiddeld kwalitatief eten... en vriendelijk personeel. Wat zou je nog meer kunnen wensen voor een plek om te lunchen? Thanks to John and Vickie we had a very VERY enjoyable lunch. The place is looking very well kept, clean and inviting. Our food was very well cooked and the portions where big enough.. There could have been a little bit more tea in the teapot.. my second cup only was halffull. But thats really the only "bad" thing I can come up with. All in all.. would eat here again next time around!!

My brother and I are truck drivers and stopped by for the night for food and a few drinks. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the staff were very friendly. I believe the drink prices to be quite expensive, however the 2for1 on main meals for the food is actually quite reasonable. Despite this it's a nice place to go out and socialise with people therefore I will return.

Exceptional service yesterday. I visited with my husband, daughter and mother in law for dinner, we had the festive menu while my daughter chose from the regular menu. Louise and her team were amazing, the table was laid with crackers and napkins ready for us and it really felt like a Christmas dinner. Food was delicious, mother in law couldn't rave enough about the soup and the pate was amazing. Our turkey dinners were delicious as were desserts, we all agreed that the St.clememts tart was the best. Throughout our evening all of the staff were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them and everyone was so polite. We're already planning our next visit!

Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Bloke at bar very friendly, warm and helpful. Made it very easy for us to order at same time but pay separate and nothing was too much trouble. He cudnt serve us straight away and said he would be with us soon which was nice. Waiter service very friendly and warm. We weren't made to feel like we had to leave after our meal and as it was a catch up with friends, having a good natter over a cuppa (and long after cuppas were finished) was lovely. Toilets clean and very positive experience.

I booked a table of 50 for a private party. Staff were extremely helpful from the booking experience to the day itself. They were helpful and could not do enough for us. The food was brought out with no hesitation and was thoroughly cooked and brought out in superb time too. Highly recommended A*****

Staff very friendly and very helpful. There were 8 of us +an 8 month toddler who was crawling over floor and they just worked around him. Four of us + toddler live in Yorkshire so was visiting family that has moved there so will definitely visit again next time we are there.

We have only been there two times and we love it there all the staff are really helpful and kind the food is out of this world we was served by Louise b she was really welcoming. And she went out if her way too see to a you child who was crying and give the child a small gift. It is a place where you can have good food and drinks, but also a place you feel like home. Is like you going on visit to your family. If you go more than once, staff start to know you. I don't know why the wine is better here 😝. Since we have children, we were very pleased to see that this place has playground spaces, inside and outside. If you go there, prepare yourself to stay a while....

Not a great meal, its what I call a filling station . Most of the food is edible as long as your standards aren't too high. I ordered a side baguette, it came sliced down the middle as if ready for a hot dog, very soft crust and course inside. As a baguette it was awful. My hunters chicken was over cooked and I couldn't find the cheese, the frozen chips were nice though. The meat portions were ample but cooked too long, the pasta sauce was nice. I think the food was better when it was a 2for1. Staff were lovely.

Would normally recommend this venue but today the food was very poor and when I informed the waitress she said that they had, had several complaints about the chicken being over cooked and dry and also the beef. Will definitely not have Sunday lunch there again!

I visited the Cherry Lauren on the 14/11/2022 with my sister after missing the turnoff for the Toby carvery and decided to try them out rather than drive all the way back! Wow I am so glad we did.. the roast dinner I had was absolutely delicious, large portions of veg, roasties and meat. It all tasted so fresh and come out really fast and was tasty and hot. They gave me extra gravy on request. My sister and I were discussing how much nicer the veg was over the usualy carvery offering’s, the roast carrots were especially nice I usually only take carrots to add a bit of colour to the plate but I really enjoyed these ones. I loved it so much I made the 40 minute journey to go back with my own children today. The food was just as delicious as before, my one son decided to go for a cowboy burger he said it was one of the best burgers he had had for a long time. I’m not sure why a lot of the reviews below are not so good, maybe something had changed or they have listened to and acted on the complaints but I will definitely be returning again soon. Thanks to all staff for great service and good food.

The wife and I had the surf and turf on the 8th of November 2022. Steak and scampi stone cold and the chips luke warm. Gave three stars as the kids had burgers which were good, price was fair, and the staff were really friendly. I think our food must of sat around waiting for the burgers.

What a great deal Steak and a pint £9.95. I was expecting a cheap Wetherspoons deal but heck no. The manager was visible and talking to everyone, the older ladies opposite me loved him. Had a lovely experience at the pub. We were informed about a limited menu on our arrival and limited staff in the kitchen. This was not an issue as we were ordering a turkey dinner. The waitress informed us there were be a 10 minute wait. After that ten minutes had passed and our food was brought out. We had dessert and was pleasantly surprised with how cheap it all was.

Generally the food is of a high standard and the B1G1F offer is a big draw. Have been coming for many years. Small inside play area for younger children and an enclosed outside play area next to seating area is great for families. Parking never an issue.

New management and it shows!! We've always been regulars but we stopped whilst it changed hands. My sister visited and said it was new management and much better so we gave it another go. It was lovely. Food was perfect, exactly how we requested it, very good quality and good prices. One waitress was abrupt but the other staff and new manager more than made up for that. Clean, tidy and the lovely "old" atmosphere is back. Hats off to the new manager because he has turned it around within a few days looking forward to becoming regulars again.

Although the food was good, the service was very slow. The waiting staff were not particularly attentive to customers and appeared to be stood around frequently. We had 2 young children with us and both their main and dessert courses were brought out last.

It was a shame that they had run out of Chicken dippers, chocolate ice cream, vanilla ice cream, custard and the Lemon muffin cheese cake. It was overall a bit disappointing but I am willing to give you another go. The 5 for recommending a friend or relative reflects the lack of dessert choices at a peak lunch time. Also children can be difficult if what they really want is unavailable.

I loved this place because it was able to accommodate a large family get together of 3 different generations. The young children were able to play outside safely in the pub's small children's park, whilst the adults ordered their meal. The waitress service was excellent, which all contributed to a successful birthday celebration. Well done to the staff!

Decent food, I never quite understand these buy one get one free places. Sunday lunch for £20, why not just make all prices half price as I visited with a child who had a kid's meal and I didn't really save much. Make everything cheaper and it makes life easier for groups of 3 or 5 or even people dining on their own

Service was second to none - speedy, friendly & polite. Pub was kept clean & presentable but slightly let down by food. £20 Sirloin steak requested medium rare came out almost well done. I did ask the waitress to let the cook know, couldn't wait for a replacement as the meals had already taken too long to come out.

My gammon steak (5oz as part of the mixed grill) was lovely and tender. My father's (10oz platter) was tough and chewy. waitress and other staff very pleasant but waitress didn't know which bitters were available - not sure if she knew what a bitter is. Good value. Nice place and very friendly, accomodating Staff , the only thing I was slightly disappointed with was The food .... inflated prices for what you actually got... IE - steak pie and chips was something that anyone could purchase from a local Fishshop at a quarter of the cost for what seemed to be the same product.. Hunters chicken was slightly bland and the Chicken portion was a resemblance to a Fat Sparrow. So to recap .... I would go there again but only for Drinks.

The food was fairly basic, I ordered a BBQ chicken burger and I'm not sure it actually contained any BBQ flavouring. The staff were helpful although they weren't offering table service and didn't clear up dinner plates until after dessert. The prices were steep although a buy one get one free offer was in place when I visited, this made the actual cost fairly reasonable. Overall, I would recommend that you try this place and make your own decision.

Amazing customer service and the server today was great. Drink arrived within 5minutes and food arrived with in 15minutes of ordering. Beer batter fish and chips where fresh and tasted perfect! All the food for family members where also all nice and hot on arrival and went down a treat. Very quiet to sit down and have a chat without interruptions or distractions. Food is priced very reasonably and I would highly recommend for anyone wanting a nice peaceful meal with or without company.

Great value for money meals, the Mega Mixed Grill was superb and filled me up, my partner had the same and they gave her a container to put the leftover meat in and I enjoyed that the next day. Staff here are very helpful and friendly gave me a table accessible for my disability. Will definitely return. Ample free parking on site.

My wife and I celebrated our diamond wedding anniversary at the Cherry Laurel on October 2nd. Step by step arrangements were made very easily with Emily. On the night the duty staff were excellent and made sure buffet and cooked food was good value for money. The buffet was exactly as ordered and in fact there was more than we expected. Staff could not do enough for us. All our guests were very happy and enjoyed the evening. Well done to everyone concerned. I would definitely recommend this venue.

Great beer garden and friendly staff. The meals are buy one get one free which is good value, the food was very basic but we still enjoyed. There is an app ordering system, which isn't the easiest to navigate through, lots of drop down menus, but I managed to successfully order 6 meals and drinks and if I can do it anyone can. It was only when we got home that my 7 year old announced that two portions of garlic bread never arrived, had she told me sooner I'm sure they would have sorted it out, but I didn't notice at the time and that was disappointing. We still had a nice experience and the kids loved playing out on the play frame.

On arrival we we're showed to a table and was told it was table service. Place was very quiet which I liked. Food was very tasty. I had the vegetable jalfrezi which came with rice, pompadom, nan bread and a little bowl of mango chutney, all of which I had no complaints for. My daughter ordered the jackfruit burger as she is vegetarian, was very nice. Red velvet cheesecake for desert was also very nice to finish off. Highly recommend.

Very nice food although prices have risen sharply recently, at least they still have buy one get one free. Nice surroundings and very attentive staff, although why is it that waiting staff wherever you go, come up to the table and ask if everything's ok, you say 'Yes, fine thanks', then they disappear before you have a chance to ask them for more drinks?

Sat close to the play area for the grand kids, not good for a romantic evening but well liked by the under 5s. Food quick and tasty with various offers on different days of the week. Get yourself a 40% off voucher to make it a cheap night out. Be prepared for a slow table clearing at busy times otherwise much improved since my first visit. Oct 2018, called in on passing with my wife. The previous visit in 2016 proved disappointing. Good choice on the menu with an additional specials board. Food was well cooked and mostly hot just a few cold chips mixed in with the hot ones. Staff very pleasant. Tables could do with a proper wipe down between customers. Price reasonable especially as we had a 40% off on top of the 2for1. Much better experience than the previous visit, cheap and basic.

My family and I eat here fairly regularly, it's great to always have 2 for 1 meals (including the specials). The staff are very attentive and friendly and the menu is varied with good food on offer. My only criticism is that it can be very noisy with lots of kids on the weekends - but this just goes to show how popular it is, ans you can avoid this is a bit by sitting on the opposite side of the play area. This is our 'go to' place on those days where you can't be bothered to cook - fast service, good food and great family time without breaking the bank!

We went in for Sunday lunch, it was my 1st occasion for this. We were seated straight away as it was not too busy. The waitress staff were very attentive and polite. Our Sunday lunch came after about 10 minutes and all was well. There was plenty of everything plus we had extra gravy at no extra cost, unlike some places of have unfortunately eaten at. The problem came with the extras ordered, 'Pigs in Blankets'. All I can describe them as is 'Horrendous' they smell was enough to put you off, I bit into one and I almost vomited! I called the waitress over to see the offending items and offered her a taste, after smelling them she refused! They were taken back to the kitchen and immediately taken off the menu for the day so thankfully no body else would have to try them. Apart from that small part the rest of the meal was very nice and extremely tasty, especially the gravy. I will return but will also steer clear from the 'Pigs in Blankets' next time.

And forgot to put cheese in my daughter's burger. Then they got the wrong sauce in my daughter's ice cream. No blame on the waiters, as they were quick to rectify the mistakes. But the kitchen seemed all over the place. Plus two of us suffered with upset stomachs after the steak Americano 🤢

A nice pub meal. Not the cheapest unless you do the 2 for 1 (ALWAYS do the 2 for 1). Unless you have kids try and stay out of the bit with the play area and even if you DO have kids, stay away from the seats near the doors to the outside play area. It just takes one family to absolve themselves of parental supervision responsibility and you’ll be sat next to constantly banging doors and a draft for the rest of your visit.

Quite a few colleagues turned up at once and they took a very large order and got it out suspiciously quick. I'm guessing like a lot of pubs these days, unless you have a steak, it's probably reheated to some extent. Overall a decent place. It is what it is with no frills.
