Expensive for a northerner (over £5 a pint) but super chill vibe with a mainly outdoor, sheltered drinking experience. Full of new breaks and decent beats on the Friday I went. Also the fries were amazing, try the masala, very nice way of making typical pub fare much tastier. Highly recommended.

One of the most approachable staff I came across when we visited during England Denmark game that was not shown there btw. As we were absolutely not bothered with random adult men playing game for school children that requires mental capability of an ape this was a perfect spot. Staff should be generously rewarded for their hosting skills. It was memorable experience.

I loved this place! Like a magnet we were sucked in. This is on point with London places. Brighton are a few years behind the capital and I think this is as close as you’ll get to the London scene. Really nice beer garden with DJ playing. Ordered some sharing plates, wow. Literally perfect. The ox croquets were unparalleled to anything else consumed that day, and that was a lot!

Hash breakfast looks great... But was way too sweet and quite small... The block beans may be the problem And only semi skimmed milk available for coffee. Lovely place and staff though...!

Friendly service, lovely food. Ordering by app was a bit of a chore due to slow broadband but everything arrived promptly. Good atmosphere accompanied by some good tunes in the garden makes for a bit of a festival vibe. Recommended.

What a wonderful outdoor space, set on different levels with some fun decor. Tables are apart so meeting the covid guidelines. It's the staff that really make this place. Super helpful and personable. Also have live DJs during the day so you get that much needed outdoor Brighton vibe. Food is a little overpriced for what it is but you cant have everything. Sad they don't seem to be doing the Sunday roasts now. Will worth a visit but you do need to book a table or you might not be able to be seated.

Fabulous bar in the heart of Kemptown. Lovely little inside bar with a very funky outside area with DJ's playing cool grooves. Nice selection of beers, wines and cocktails. The staff are super friendly and helpful (especially the managers mum!!!). The food is good but the Block Burger, oh the Block Burger is probably the best ive ever had in a restaurant, super juicy, and the crispy (yes properly crispy) smoked bacon and onions created a faultless, flavoursome burger - other burger joints should take note. Can't wait to return.

Wow! The garden area has been transformed into a vibrant and cosy little garden oasis. Just what Brighton needs over the colder months. The staff were extremely friendly, the food was exquisite and the cocktails were something else. If you like a bloody Mary, try their Canadian twist and I can assure you that you won't be disappointed! I'm already looking forward to my next visit

5 OUT OF 5 STARS! Great quality menu, well stocked bar and brilliant atmosphere. Lovely heated, and marquee covered secret garden with great service. We had tacos and wine, great stuff! A real treat in our new favourite place! :-)

Really impressed! This place really is something quite special! This was the second time I had been with my significant other and we weren't disappointed. I had the steak and my partner has a selection of small plates. All prepared and served in good time with a comprehensive selection of suitable beers to boot. Definitely worth a visit! P.S: There's a great covered garden out the back! Many thanks to the great staff there for making our visit so pleasant!

Worth writing a review for! I wouldn't normally bother writing a review but after having a private party in the secret garden at Block (St James Street), we were all so thrilled with the food, the drinks and the service! A massive thank you to the staff! We'll be going back for sure very soon (think there's a NYE party there). Can''t recommend this place more highly!

Was a bit cold but it was a Monday night and in January so can't complain too much. The food was amazing (!!) A bull burger and a chicken burger and chips, the chips were all skin on and tasty more like fries which I love .the burgers were so yummy the buns tasted all malty and the sauces made it a really unique and tasty dinner. The pub itself is pretty trendy looking with a big garden. Their lager on tap is nice too !

The best decor I've seen in a bar. Unfortunately when I had a function there a few different groups of friends complained that the staff had been rude to them. Drinks also sometimes took over half an hour (possibly a lot longer) to arrive as table service was insisted on. If drinks could be served more quickly the venue would make a hell of a lot more money. Getting drunk would have been very difficult. If you fancy a beautifully quirky venue are thick skinned and don't drink a lot, this is a great place to be!

A really well put together little place. More than a little trendy but that shouldn't put you off. It's eclectic food menu, excellent selection of beers, amazing garden area and some of the friendliest staff in town make for a wonderful experience.

Fantastic Burgers! Seriously, you need to try a neighbourhood chicken burger, they are fantastic. It's a great bar and has a lovely outdoor area, where some fab parties are thrown in the summer. Great cocktails and good selection of beer.

Block manages to be a bar, café and restaurant all in one. And manages to pull it off with gusto. The food is amazing. Locally sourced, good quality with a well thought out menu. They did make a mistake with our order but it was rectified so quickly and they apologised, comping a glass of wine. Their wine list is superb and extensive. A jovial friendly atmosphere; the interior is something like a cuban warehouse bar. They have a stunning garden, which is covered and heated, with lots of seating. Not exactly cheap but certainly good value for money when the quality is as such. Will definitely be going again.

Went in for breakfast and almost had to rim the barman to show my appreciation. Thankfully I stuck to verbal pleasantries. Nice Block Lager, and beer garden was OK. The floor was like double sided tape it was that sticky, and the toilets need much improvement. Music was a bit repetitive too at night, but was OK during the day.

Too busy. If you go during a busy period it is rubbish. If you go on a quieter period it is great. Lovely garden. Standard fare but not bad breakfast. If you go downstairs take off your sunglasses... Leave you to work that story out;-)
