Reviews of Busby and Wilds
A. F.
We booked to have Sunday dinner and can honestly say the food was divine, the service attentive and helpful and the surroundings comfortable and cosy. They had a good selection of drinks including soft drinks and non alcoholic. I would definitely recommend a visit.
T. W.
Wonderful family run restaurant in Kemptown. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff & a great Sunday lunch. Will be back.
V. M.
Second time been here and disappointed compared to first visit. Staff disorganized food was good but one gluten free guest they had advertised GF yourshires but not available not told at time of ordering. Roast pork and crackling came without crackling. Roast beef advertised with horseradish on menu but didn't come when ask told we didn't order at time order was placed. Very disappointing 2nd visit. Will not be returning.
C. F.
Super nice pub with locally sourced food. We had beef hamburgers with hand cut chunky chips and sticky toffee pudding... oh my god, delicious!
J. B.
Looking for the best Sunday roast in the Brighton area? Try Busby and Wilds in Kemp Town, hands down the best pub roast dinner I’ve had in years if not ever!!
Local, fresh and seasonal produce from Sussex, Surrey and Kent, craft beers, good wine selection, delicious desserts, friendly staff, cute walled garden and a really nice vibe 😀
J. G.
Lovely food, beautifully presented. Intolerance catered for on all levels. Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely recommend and return.
D. U.
Vegetable side was the best I ever had, very well cooked and presented.
Can't say the same for the beef. %60 of it lean, but %40 was fat, gristle, chewy parts... they need to get better beef with good marblation.
G. H.
Great friendly family run place, good food (limited veg options, but available). Would recommend booking as popular.
D. I.
I had the pleasure of my 70th birthday lunch at Busby & Wilds last weekend, the food was excellent and the service faultless, all the diners joined in the singing and hip hip hoorays!
J. M.
Delicious Sunday roast, very plentiful portions and friendly and attentive staff
B. B.
Great food and good value. We ate in the garden, (could do with some lighting) as inside was full. Garden a bit spoilt by the very noisy kitchen exhaust fan.
R. D.
Fantastic to be able to return to B&W after so long. The bonus was that it offered a superb menu of delicious food and drink, just it did all those years ago when it first opened and my Partner and I of 7 years standing had our first date here. Nothing but praise for Emily and Simon for sustaining 2 lockdowns and coming back all guns blazing.
A. P.
Very good food, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere.
P. M.
It was a lovely place and fine food. Well recommended
M. H.
Good service and child friendly, food was fantastic
B. R.
Best pub food ever experienced; every aspect of the cooking was perfect. Excellent fish and lovely roast lunch. Delicious sticky toffee pudding. Can’t wait to return.
K. R.
Loved the interior. Fairly small menu but everything was delicious.
G. T.
Always good food with a traditional menu offering locally produced fayre with a swanky twist. The fish is particularly good.
E. D.
Freshly cooked locally sourced food which is delicious. Full range of drinks including from local Hands micro brewery. Not cheap, but the quality compared to pub chains is light years ahead of them for a similar price. Welcoming, friendly cheerful service which I would have no hesitation recommending to friends.
G. W.
Great food the best roasts 😁

Another great Sunday lunch at B&W. We all enjoyed our choices everything was delicious. The staff were really friendly and attentive. Brilliant selection of bottled ales and the desserts were to die for! Thank you.
J. H.
Lovely venue, great service. Went there for Sunday lunch and had an excellent pork belly. Love the focus on local produce. Slight thing, would have preferred smaller crispier roast potatoes. Had a pint of beer but the wine list looked equally tempting and good value. Will definitely go there again
A. G.
Great front of house staff, but otherwise disappointing. Beer on tap not chilled (problems with the equipment). Food markedly lower standard than it was a couple of years ago: gazpacho unpleasantly bitter, gnocchi more like scoops of mashed potato, oddly flavourless pea shoots abounded. Not cheap and I left feeling distinctly hungry despite eating a starter and main.
S. O.
Great food and drinks. Chilled place to hang out and dog friendly. We love our local.
J. B.
One of the best pubs in Brighton and certainly the best in Kemptown! Sunday roast is phenomenal - I take all my guests here to show it off. Staff are so friendly and welcoming and I consider the whole menu to be great value. Wine list is carefully curated and superb.
R. S.
Another splendid Sunday roast lunch - one pork and one nut roast, both immensely enjoyed! The roasted beetroot with the vegetables was a tasty surprise!
S. W.
Food was good but drinks were ridiculously expensive, and service although friendly was awful. Waited 15 mins to be asked what we would like to drink, had to go to bar in the end to order. Not worth the £140 for 4 roasts and 2 puddings. I think it was £7.50 for a medium glass of rose. Don’t mind paying if you get the service. Won’t be going back. Price and lack of service put a downer on what was a good roast.
R. C.
Possibly the best Sunday and nut roast in Brighton (sadly no chicken though hence 4 stars). Make sure you save room for their sticky toffee pudding - try and share with a friend or partner but you regret not ordering your own!!
J. L.
Superb flavoursome food and fantastic friendly service. This place is a real gem, love it!
P. E.
Our favourite local restaurant/bistro. Perfect for a quick meal with the family or a long drawn out lunch with a chum. Very easy going service, dog friendly and the menu ticks every dietary box. Interesting range of bottled and draft beers complements the small but perfectly formed wine list. A long overdue addition to eating out at our end of Kemp Town.....

OMG the most amazing food we had tonight it was burger Tuesday evening, homemade from scratch meat was so easy to eat the chunky chip soft inside crispy on the outside. Had the house red amazing goes really well with the meal my mother and I had. Then dessert sticky toffee pudding homemade vanilla clotted ice cream, my mother had peanut butter salted caramel ice cream!!!! My mother and myself definitely recommend this place to eat when u don't feel like cooking. The price really reasonable too.
b. h.
The restaurant is well decorated, spacious with friendly staff. They had a good selection of drinks and food. I ate the classic beef burger which was perfectly cooked and was delicious. I will be coming back again.
K. T.
Great food and friendly staff. The halloumi & chips were fantastic. Thank you.

A lot has changed in two years. The standard of food is not as high as my last visit. Disappointed. Cauliflower cheese presented burnt but was replaced. All vegetables had been portioned and left on the pass for so much time they were overcooked. The roast belly pork had been rolled and cooked as a joint without the crackling which i was not expecting from my last visit...All the food was edible and I may go back but my expectations will be lower.
A. C.
Probably the best steak in Brighton. Love the Burger (and steak) night. Great value including a drink of your choice. Nice atmosphere. Do a cracking Christmas Day lunch too

This restaurant might be the best British food I have ever had in my one-year stay in the UK.
Cosy venue, tasty food and warm smiles.
Don't rush back to the central after your visiting at Seven Sis cliff! Have a visit at Duke's Mound bus stop and enjoy the vibe here:)
M. H.
Michelin starred no, but you're not paying those prices..... if you're a foody looking for good quality Sunday roast or seafood you won't be disappointed at this price. Recommended

Great place to eat, lovely food
J. U.
Went for a sunday roast, was alright but not the best place. They've run out of chicken and beef roasts at 4pm.. We waited for a long time for our food. A very little portion of vegs, and I had to share it with my girlfriend.
I. L.
Very good. Only slight criticism as a vegetarian the portion could be bigger. My gf enjoyed the beef very much, will go again
J. M.

Very disappointed- The welcome was very friendly and the atmosphere felt good. Felt like it was going to be really good but in fact my wife ordered the roast pork with crackling- and there was no crackling. Her potatoes and parsnips were mostly inedible- very hard, almost impossible to cut as if they’ve been held back for about two hours, totally overdone. Pork itself was very good and the Yorkshire pudding was good. I just had a starter which was fine. No one asked us how our meal was, otherwise we would’ve told them

(Translated) I would make fries at home so homemade that I forgot about the burger next door
