A large bar that serves a variety of beers though more of a similar type than a wide range. Pale Ale and IPA fans well caterer for, stouts and porters, no. They serve a basic menu similar to wetherspoons. Popular with a young crowd with a few oldies about too. Friendly staff. Officially a gay venue but it is Brighton so very fluid!

A large venue on the seafront that serves great food during the day, and is a pleasant bar/club at night. The bar is LGBTQ+A friendly and only open to people of age 18+. There is a large decked outdoor terrace/smoking area. However, the lavatories are in disrepair, and some areas of the bar are in need of maintenance due to falling ceiling masonry which brings down the image/atmosphere of the venue. Overall well worth a visit.

Was our local. Lovely pub and friendly staff. Drag acts most nights and special drink promotions on Friday's. The staff always talk to you and the owner Chris is always up for a photo to.

Me and some friends were having some drinks and I had a bride to be badge on and the bartender said he wouldn't serve me as they don't allow hen parties... but it wasn't a hen party. He said if I took it off it would be fine. They have a little beer garden and it's a good location, near the pier and prominard.

I'm getting a refit it seems to have lost some of its identity. The bar range is decent, the prices are ok (although much higher than they used to be) and the service is reasonable. All in all it's a very OK place.

On a walk back from the pier in Brighton, I and my family collectively decided to head for food. While out, we stumbled upon this place and loved it. Unlike other locations I have been to before, this one had a tremendous amount of pride representation, with rainbow banners and an enormous "pride" sign built in above the bar. Interestingly, the toilets were marked as "butch" and "femme", adding additional inclusivity - though as Brighton is a hub of pride, this should come as no surprise. While there, I went for the meat pizza which came with an interesting addition of sections of beef - something which I have not seen before in other places. The beef was tremendously tender, and made for a fine addition. A cutter was provided as well, which was nice. Drinks-wise, I had a rhubarb cider, which was interestingly warming, and could easily be downed. During the meal, a DJ was playing music through the building, and very well at that. As someone who has worked in this industry before, I can say the selection was incredible. Loved it here, and would go back again

Brilliant event and managment, really went out their way to help me, lost my coat over the weekend with all my keys in, car keys, house keys, work keys, literally would have caused me alot of work if i couldn't, the management at the venue went out their way to try and help me find it and also allowed me into the venue upstairs to look for it. I found the coat and keys and have the venue to thank for helping me and letting go behind the scenes to have a look. Thank you

This venue offers everything from a lunchtime drink and food to a big night out with live entertainment and a dance. The large venue is always lively while still providing areas you can socialise and chat. Bar staff are very friendly with quick service. Good drinks and reasonably priced food. It's a must stop for anyone visiting for the weekend, especially the Sunday cabaret and bingo.

Queer friendly bar right in the heart on Brighton. Decent priced drinks, 2-4-1 cocktails and very decent pub food also available. Recently renovated and updated, this bar offers plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Hosting a veriety of entertainment, you can often find drag shows, cabaret, pub quizes and DJ sets for a lively evening.

What a great friendly venue, we where welcomed by our server Jon, who made sure we when looked after, we had such a great time and Jon took the time to make sure we where all OK, and made us laugh! Great bar and pub. Food is pretty good too. The decor is great. Great use of oil drums and up cycling stuff. Selection of beers is good and right by the sea front. Staff are all pretty friendly and welcoming too. Recommend the neck oil as a personal choice. Bar staff let you sample the beer before you try it (obviously not the likes of Fosters or similar, though I haven't tried) I'm sure they'd be accommodating. I'll go here again next week time I'm in Brighton for definite.

You have got to try the mixed platter - it is the best and there is so much of it as such a decent price. The staff were very friendly and helpful even though at the beginning there was a bit of misunderstanding but that was quickly resolved and we had a great time. Quick service, great Covid 19 policies - staff all have masks, there is social distancing and only table service. I will definitely be going back once we are out of lock down again!

I went here recently and have to say that they seem to have done a great job with all of the new covid 19 regulations. It's a spacious clean bar with a nice smoking terrace and all the staff seem to be taking the regulations seriously. It felt safe and I will come back again.

We celebrated a leaving do at this venue and were a group of about 30 people. There is lots of space, seated areas and an outside (seated) area also. Staff are very friendly and this location is clean and tidy. I would definitely recommend it, though I would advise to book tables, if you want to come with a larger group. Bonus, there is a bus stop right outside the venue.

Very reasonable prices for the drinks and a good selection. The food is genuine good quality pub grub just what you need I recommend the food. The reason this is four stars is the toilets are just sometimes a complete write off. Somehow they always have it so that the toilets in the womens never ever have seats that are fastened on properly so slip and slide around and you have to balance yourself on them like some kind of demented toilet Circus performer. They are generally clean.

I visited on Sunday afternoon just gone with my girlfriend and our Bulldog, Layla. It was my partners first time in Brighton, but I had been many years previously. And WOW!! What a difference!! I always loved Charles Street back in the '10's but it has clearly had a refurbishment since then!! The decor is beautiful and modern, without being too 'hipster', and it has a very chilled out and relaxed vibe to it. I love a craft beer and was pleased to see that the new 'Charles Street' had moved with the times and had plenty to choose from. Lisa likes a gin and was recommended a lovely new gin that she had not tried before, which was apparently their new monthly gin. I forget the name now, but if you're going this month, do ask them about it. We're a lover of a roast dinner, and theirs did not disappoint. Lovely roasties and veg, and the pork was to die for. Highly recommended by both of us and Layla who, of course, had to have a little taste to check if it was ok ;) All COVID regulations were adhered to and we felt safer here than we did in many other venues in Brighton. It should as well be mentioned that we were very well looked after by the staff on our visit, they could not do enough for us, and adapted to table service exceptionally well. I recognise a couple from a few years ago on my last visit, so this proves what a solidly-run business this must be. So, all in all, well done Charles Street TAP. I loved you when I lived there, and I adore you now... I shall see you next time we venture down from the North-West :) 10/10

Didn't realise it was a gay bar! Called in with my wife whilst awaiting arrival of a friend arriving by bus from Bournemouth. Had 2 x hot chocolate. Ordered nachos then on checking timing realised they wouldn't be ready until after our friend was due in so had to cancel. Staff were very good about our mistake and quickly refunded our payment.

Lovely bar and friendly staff. We celebrated our pre and post wedding with friends and family. This made our wedding days celebration more enjoyable. Cocktail drinks are really great. Though we are not aware that there is on-going deal for it. We just learned it by ordering on their app service. We visited many times the places and i recommend it.😀
