My favourite Btn seafront pub. Lovely interior, nice staff. I quite like the wintertime outside tents with cosy cushions and carpets. . Lack of sweetener for your tea, only sugar's available, but that's easy to fix, right?

Always love the Fortunes.... Lovely weather so sat outside. Good atmosphere, good availability during the day. Online ordering available, but my beer wasn't there. Bar staff didn't care 🤪 Had to go to bar. Hubby spilt his whisky cause in plastic cup and it was windy, but they replaced no problem.

Ok, so I have had my fair share of Hamburgers. But this was, without doubt, the BEST Burger I have EVER had!!!! The Burger I had was called the 'Tribute', and trust me when I say it was spectacular!! And the Rosemary roasted chips, OMG!! Then you must have the gravy as a side with the Onion rings.........🤤🤤🤤😍😍😍😍👍👍👍🍔🍟

The Fortune of War is one of the better beach bars on the Brighton seafront, located near Brighton Palace Pier (use the stairs from the promenade). It's one of the very few places where beers are properly served in GLASSES, not plastic cups. Makes a huge difference!. There's a fair range of lagers available, along with all kinds of other alcoholic beverages. The outside seating area is also nicer than most, with solid wood benches and tables. A nice place to hang out on a sunny afternoon.

Came here for the Roots Garden gig - great sound system! And the place itself is a cosy pub with a decent drink selection. Shame the outdoors area was so unbelievably cramped 😅 still a good intro back into live events after so long..!

Great pub to visit on a sunny day in Brighton! Right on the beach, plenty of seating outside and occasional live music. On the day I visited service was super quick despite how busy it was (bank holiday weekend). Has a second bar and more seating upstairs. Offers Pizzaface pizzas if you're feeling peckish. Toilets are upstairs and then down another set of stairs. Just something to bear in mind if visiting with anyone less able.

I like this bar & restaurant next to the beach in Brighton despite for how busy it usually gets during the middle of summer I’m giving this spot 5 stars and a solid 8 out of 10 especially if you want to sit out in the sun whenever it is warm. Great service and great view!!! I found a table upstairs at the window that looked out over the water. I must have stayed for 2+ hours! The only things I would have liked to have seen here were speciality cocktails and any food other than pizza on their menu (although you can go to the takeaway stand next door and bring that food in, if you want).

We went upstairs last Saturday when the storm was raging and sat with coffee watching the rough seas. It was amazing. The barman was very friendly and brought the coffee to us. We felt very cosy and the coffee was delicious. Previously we have sat outside with wine in the sunshine. Always a great experience.

"The fortune of war, I'll tell you plain, is a wooden leg or a golden chain". Huge outdoor seating area right on the beach. Nice range of booze. Friendly efficient staff. Indoor seating is all upstairs, and much bigger than you imagine. Pizzas are ok but variable quality. Has a great feel. Can be quiet during the day out of season, but rammed to the rafters (keel?) In the evenings. The weird layout and decor make it one of the few pubs you need to see for yourself to understand what makes it special.

Really interesting pub with a lot going on. If you want to just come for a drink then it's great. Loads of room inside, decent amount of room out the front. Walkable from King's Cross no problem. Food looked good. Bit I think this is much more of an exciting placed to come on a busy evening. Decks set up in one corner. Looks like you could have a good night out here.

Pretty generic beer selection but always prompt and courteous service. Plus great views, lively atmosphere, the pub itself is pretty quirky inside (like a boat), and even board games (at least in the winter). In the summer they have tables out front. Don't bother with the pizza though, it's not really worth it. If you really need pizza I'd recommend NuPosto just up the road; it's not the best in town but the closest that is decent.

Not my favourite pub - the drinks are way too overpriced, which really puts the marks down on what should be a great place to drink. The interior looks great and has lots of seating outside, but not for those after a quiet drink as is always very busy, especially being right next to The Tempest Inn.

Really lovely seafront bar. They play music quite loud out of the front which is nice if you sit in the right place, however, there are other bars next door so sometimes the competition for the loudest music can be confusing and slightly overwhelming. Nonetheless, the inside is very beautiful and has a lovely view of the sea.

Don't be put off by its 'heavy rock/goth' exterior - this is a great winter refuge whose galleon-like interior has a cosy feel. Board games and great pizza will keep you there longer than you intended...particularly if you get one of the window seats overlooking the sea and Brighton's colourful promenade. Don't know what it's like in summer but well worth a winter visit.

A Brighton institution, the Fortune of War is a pub built into the arches under the road, and fronting directly onto the beach. During the summer super-busy with locals and visitors sitting outside on the terrace. Quieter in the winter, but can be quite dramatic to sit upstairs by the window watching a storm battering the beach whilst sitting a pint. Beer usually good, and a good selection of drinks. Spirits can be expensive. Staff friendly, although again in the summer when it's busy it can be a bit of a wait to be served. If the outside bar is busy, it's often quicker to go upstairs to the bar inside. Last time I was there they had a table football table inside as well.

Always a good night to be had here if you're with the right people. Can't fault this venue in the summer, right on the seafront, usually DJ's playing outside until the sun goes down. Live music inside upstairs sometimes too! All your standard drinks available, staff seem nice enough too.
