This is a cozy rabbit warren of a pub, pretty much at the top of the hill in Hanover Downstairs wraps round a central bar, then upstairs are several rooms along with an outside 'Sun Terrace' which drops down into a beer garden via a fire escape. Seems as big outside as inside. They serve a decent range of lagers and those craft beers that give drinkers near nuclear farts. They do food too but we weren't there to eat so can't comment on the quality. They played a mix of familiar old 90s and 80s tunes, not the cheesy pop numbers, when we were there. Sufficiently good enough for members of our party to comment on, who had a table upstairs that they'd reserved for us. The staff were happy and friendly. Served quickly without being stressed or rushed. The whole place had a lovely relaxed vibe to it. Started busy downstairs and up, finished busy upstairs, quiet downstairs, so you can see we stayed a while 🙂

Great pub, friendly staff, super dog friendly, always making sure our dog has water and treats. Great selection of drinks and great menu. Had food here a few times and always delicious, great choice for meat eaters and vegetarians. Cosy feel, worth hiking to the top of the hill for!

Booked for Sunday lunch. We had to change the time, and they were happy to do this. We arrived 15 minutes late, which posed no problem. We ordered our food and drinks. Food did take a little longer than we had thought, but as we were in no great rush it didn’t matter. The team are friendly and accommodating. It’s a lovely local pub in Queens Park. They have reduced trading at present, due to the Covid-19 restrictions. Can certainly recommend for hassle free, easygoing Sunday lunch. They are dog friendly.

Lovely pub, delicious roasts and a great selection of beers and ciders. Wine selection is reasonable too. Outdoor area has also been revamped and, although overlooked by lots of house, is very welcoming.

Fantastic oub! Excellent rotating beer selection, friendly staff, great roof/beer garden out back and easy to walk down the hill from after a few drinks 😉 haven't tasted their food but have seen and heard it's also delicious. Highly recommend a visit!

Once more me and Susan Bassett were on the hunt for our next delicious pint when we were swept into the arms of the haus on the Hill. On first sight this comfy pub seemed traditional in tastefully selected decor and furnishings, but then the sweet smells of jerk chicken hit us. We had to order! Delicate chicken and ribs simply falling off the bone into our mouths, the delight was thrown across our faces as we devoured two plates of exceptional food. Would highly recommend xxx

A great pub with a wide range of locally brewed and continentaly beers, especially Belgian and German. It has a good selection of comforting bar food and the staff, who know their stuff, are very friendly. It is busy on the weekend but less so in the week if you prefer a quieter pint. Some of the beers here are very rare to see on draft in the UK so worth the trip up the hill for anyone who fancies a treat!

What a fantastic pub! A great selection of craft beers, with plenty of guests, so there's always something new and interesting to try. The bar team are great and they're happy to explain what's what, so don't be afraid to ask. The food is amazing. Incredible snacks and main courses provided by Dizzy Gull. It's definitely some of the best pub food in Brighton. The Sunday roasts are fantastic too. Very highly recommended.

The pub is great but closed due to covid regs when writing this BUT the kitchen is open and is fantastic! During the week, the Caribbean food is brilliant. We order the goat curry bowl and BBQ snack box - both were excellent. The flavours are fantastic and definitely cooked with love. The curry and rice were spot on, with a bit of yummy fried plantain on top too. The box included jerk chicken, portion of ribs sitting on top of some macaroni pie. My belly is happy!!! At the weekends, get the Sunday roast. Nothing more needs to be said, it’s that good.

Not only was this pub a great place to visit back when we could (a great selection of craft beer and a decent atmosphere) but they have continued to deliver throughout the last year, meaning I have been able to get my hands on the amazing food from Danny's Taste of the Caribbean still. I regularly grab the jerk chicken from Uber Eats and also a pot of the homemade hot pepper sauce, something that I am now addicted to and have most days for my lunch. Can't wait to be able to visit again

Great range of beers, friendly staff and amazing Carribbean food from Danny O'Shea's - there's three reasons to visit this popular Hanover pub. My Roti with a selection of curried vegetable dishes and pickles was delicious and my companions enjoyed their meat and veg burgers respectively. The portion of cauliflower 'wings' was as moreish as our server promised and there was plenty for the three of us to pick at. Having recently eschewed the booze I'm always impressed to have a good alcohol-free alternative and the Lucky Saint hit the spot - I've had it in the bottle and been disappointed. Top marks all round.

Staff had masks on, was our second visit we'd been there several times before last year's lock down. First time hardly anyone there, seats outside and sunshine This time good mask wearing, but really busy. No room, just two tables one near the loos so constant flow of people. Or one by the bar where everyone stands to ask where to sit. Table service ok. Just very busy. Best to book.

My partner and I have been popping in for a drink (from Woodingdean) for the past 12 months and today we finally had the time to stay and try the food. Well, it was as amazing as it had previously looked when we'd seen it being served to others as well as really good value for money. We love this place. There is always a nice atmosphere, the staff and the service they offer is brilliant and the landlord is a genuingly lovely guy. We would highly recommend it to anyone. But don't take our word for it, go see for yourself.

Nice pub, nice staff and nice beers. However it does seem to attract the family crowd so it's always packed full of kids. If you want a more relaxing experience try either the Bier Haus on Edward Street or the Free Haus just off Elm Grove

Went to Haus On The Hill for a roast last Sunday. It was SO good! We came a bit late in the day though but will deffo book next time to try the other options on the menu. The staff are super friendly and attentive. A nice range of craft beers on offer and packets of Nik Naks! A really lovely pub with a garden and upstairs terrace. :)

I know there is a big swell of praise for the pub so expectations are high but if you are a veggie don't get your hopes up. We had to book out Sunday lunch in advance for the veggie option so it sounded promising but sadly it was pretty poor. The nut roast had a stuffing texture and was pretty bland. The meat eaters had some fine looking fayre so carnevours will be happy. The redeeming element was the starter of deep fried pickled gerkins which is inspired and delicious

Haus on the Hill is what it says on the tin. It's a pub in a residential area serving the locals. It's not a gastro or a destination pub. It serves good beers and wines and the usual spirits like all pubs do. If I lived there I would use it as my local. It is a place where you can create your own atmosphere for the night. Blank canvas. Paint what you like!

Amazing selection of drinks. Confused as to why Jamaican food is served. I was expecting Bratwurst, Schnitzel and Currywurst, as were my friends. Last thing you expect in a German bar is Jamaican food.The curry I had was decent though. Staff were very friendly
