Reviews of Mitre Tavern
S. B.
Nicely done out recently and much brighter and welcoming. Beer garden/smoking area is a bit drab but will need a bit of TLC and lots of planning for such a small area to improve it. Just starting to do food again Thurs to Sunday, so hope that really takes off. Staff very efficient and felt very covid safe. I'm not keen on constant horse racing on the TV's but it seemed to suit others there. I'm told the Harvey's is wonderful!

Pub name change now called FITZ REGENT has a lot of changes one of the best pubs I Brighton it's the first day of opening to the public

The staff and the food were absolutely lovely we would definitely go there again.

Nice, cosy pub with well kept Harvey's cask ales and cold, crisp keg lagers and Guinness if that's your cup of tea. Met with smiles from the friendly staff and the polite, welcoming locals as soon as we arrived. A local pub for everyone it seems. Cheapest pub in the area, the music at a perfect volume and even has clean, fresh smelling gents toilets. It has all the hallmarks of a great pub and gets all the basics right, a rare breed in this day and age!

Nice Harveys ales. Good selection

Very old school, from a Brighton which has long gone, don't think that the interior has been changed in years. Not that this is a bad thing, makes quite a refreshing change at times away from the trendy scene. Staff are ok, very much see through the way they talk to drinkers it's a real local boozer. I would say the down side is perhaps a bit of background music would be nice.

Great Harveys - really big selection on tap plus loads of bottled ones. plus amazingly the John Hop low alcohol one, a rare sight. I tried the Old and Dark Mild. Nice friendly bar staff and cosy old fashioned feel. keep up the good work.

I love this boozer. If you're looking for a traditional boozer, with carpet, a snug and a dart board, look no further.
Well kept Harveys (not my favourite but it's a Harveys Pub!) and Guinness, a very nice drop of Guinness here.
Still cash only, so old fashioned in that sense too. Fancied a white wine today, even the Sauvignon blanc is pretty good!
Say on my own, friendly pub:)

Refurb has certainly made a difference, still a good choice of beers from our largest brewer Harveys. The barman was a cheerful chap too.

One of the last remaining carpeted pubs in Brighton. No food. No craft beer. Just a lovely family owned pub, full of locals. That haven't changed for about 50+ years.

Lovely welcoming staff. Good to be back inside the pub

It’s very traditional, has good beer, friendly staff and is always welcoming. Great prices, too. Highly recommended for those avoiding hipster culture.

Old school Harvey's pub. The beer is kept well, and the bar staff friendly. The clientèle is of the older generation which is strange with so many student around this area.

A proper old fashioned boozer. Full of locals and friendly. Lived in looks and full of character. Great Harvey's bitter on the handle and well kept.
I'll be back.

I visited Mitre Tavern on Sunday,9/7/17.for first time.I was alone, on a train day out from Surrey.Pub opened @noon & I was greeted with a range of Harveys ales & a smiling lady behind the bar.I chose Tom Payne ,a strong bitter@ a reasonable price .I sat & read a paper & ate free crisps.I had another pint & more crisps.Excellent.I will return soon with 4 or 5 other senior friends on our next day out.Thanks.

What all local corner pubs should be! Full of warm wood, traditional seating and great ales. A little on the small side but rather cosy.

Cosy, unassuming little city pub. Visited on a quiet Wednesday afternoon with a group of friends. Perfect venue for a small, private get together.
