Reviews of New Unity
R. D.
A good atmosphere for sports and a good selection of food and drinks. The food is very good if not pricey compared to Five Guys. It used to have the retro games night on Fridays which was a great option for casual drinkers and people like myself and others in a group who would sit for hours and spend 30-35 pounds each on food and drink. Since the games event is no longer there, I'll have to look for a different pub as I prefer chilled settings with not too many boisterous drunk people. Also there's always urine on the men's toilet floor from overflowing urinals and toilet stalls. A good 3 to 4 star rating. Keeping the games event (which is good for mental health) would have given it a 4.5 to 5 star rating.

On a weekend away in Brighton and saw New Unity recommended online as somewhere to watch Sports. Selection of screens and staff really helpful in getting on what we wanted to watch. Great range of beer (including from Laine Brewery) and the food was excellent, especially the massive onion rings!

Quite possibly the best ribs I have ever eaten... A serious contender to smokies... Really yummy fries and great selection of beers.. I will be back..

Great pub, amazing service. Ginger bartender was playing clash royale at one point but did win and still got my drinks poured perfectly straight away so can’t fault him

I enjoyed my brief stay, mainly I would say being down to it being a weekday afternoon with no sports on. Also, I was given a lime and soda for free, can't complain about that.
Make no mistake, this is a sports bar. There is an individual TV at almost every table and three huge see ones above the bar!
Being newly renovated the whole place is clean and well maintained, including the toilets.
There is an 'accessible' toilet but it's up a couple of steps. Perhaps they have a ramp? The doorways are narrow so I don't think it would be easy to have a wheelchair in here.
Only one main vegan option (and it's falafel too, how original) and one dessert (apple crumble). Need to try harder in Brighton!
Edited to add: All the chairs are very high stools. If you're not tall this could be a problem.

BBQ here is absolutely phenomenal. Burnt ends, ribs, onion rings and the chips all stood out the most as being absolutely delicious.

Interesting kitchen if you like a burger. Luckily I do! Good little sports bar and they've done a good job on sorting out the upstairs new bar area.

Best place in Brighton to watch football. Good beer and great food.
R. B.
By far the best place to watch football in Brighton. And the food isn’t too bad either
B. K.
Not really a pub to have a quiet drink in but unbeatable if you want to watch sports
N. W.
An excellent pub equipped with SecretDJ and with a modern feel, with slight nods to New York bar scene but with enough of a personality to avoid pastiche. Apparently the brisket is amazing but we weren't hungry at the time so didn't sample the delights but I guess that's more of a reason to go back there! The drink selections were solid, they had all the range of Laines brewery beers and a decent selection of cocktails at reasonable prices.

Brilliant atmosphere for the game..Will be back soon with our Celtic crew..

Booked the function room at this venue for a pre-restriction gathering. Sammy and his team are very helpful, accommodating and quick to communicate anything. The team themselves made sure we had a great time and provided great service. The function room itself is very spacious and well decorated/furnished. Would highly recommend booking this pub for a party/gathering post-restrictions!

Once the football was over, they were very accommodating in putting on the American football on Sunday evening.
The food was also excellent and the bar staff were lovely.

Great atmosphere for the Chelsea Champions League Final. Decent priced beer and food, friendly staff and lots of TVs for the sport. Highly recommend
A. H.
Great bar for watching sport good range of beers

Good pub. Sensible Covid service via app. Lots of screens to watch sport. Nice BBQ/burger food.
Non alcoholic beers available in bottle.

Just had lunch here. Really good burger which was reasonably priced. Chips were very different and super tasty - were flat with oregano on. Nice relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff. The chef came over and introduced himself. Good selection of beer and loads of screens for watching sport. Colleague had a gluten free pitta souvlaki which he really enjoyed.

First and foremost this is a sports pub. If you are looking for a chilled pub for a few quiet ones this probably isn’t the place for you. That being said, if you are looking for a fantastic venue to watch any sport that is televised this is perfect. Their range of beer is brilliant and do offer 20% student discount which is handy. Their hot dogs and sharers are of a good quality for what they are. The staff are all helpful and friendly. Even when a main sporting event isn’t on this is great place for a lively start to the evening.
This is now my go-to during the rugby and football as it is head and shoulders above the other sport pub/ bars (Walkabout, The Font and King and Queen).
H. H.
Class little establishment. Staff were really nice and was sure to help me out with any questions I had. Bit pricey but that's normal standard for Brighton tho
M. S.
Nice atmosphere. Went to watch the rugby and was easy to reserve a table especially as it gets very busy. Facilities are decent and the sharing food was not only good valve but more than enough for the three of us. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Sunday night not the best time to visit most pubs, very quiet. Beer choice large, as to be expected these days, good range of gins and other spirits. Negative point too many TV screens showing US sports, positive point they have a dart board! I will return with darts.
P. P.
Loads of screens for football so you cannot miss anything.
Not too impressed with the chicken wings and sauce. Felt like they were not made fresh and the sauce on the wings just not up to scratch for me.

The New Unity hosted a colleague of mine retirement function on Friday 2nd November. The Landlord (Tom) and all his team could not have been more helpful or accommodating. They allowed us to present a short video made at work on the big screen, decorate the bar with banners and balloons etc. The food that we paid for was very good value and tasty and there is a terrific range of drinks to choose from. The staff on the bar were great and the duty manager was on hand all the way through to check we were happy with timings etc. The whole evening went really well. I hadn’t been in The New Unity before last night but will be going back soon. Thanks for a great evening

Let me start with the fact that the service was great and the cauliflower bites were delicious! However, I made an enquiry through the website about a specific American football game for my husband. They accepted the booking without any response to my question as to whether they would stay open for the full game or not...so I assumed they would. We arrived around 7:30 and put in a food order a little after 8. The kitchen, unfortunately, was unable to make anything other than my cauliflower bites (delicious) and sticky toffee pudding (rather dry)...so no mac n'cheese like my husband ordered. We were offered a refund, but still a little disappointing. Next, my husband's game was NOT available (even though it was listed on their actual website as being shown this evening) and the pub was set to close at 10 (the very nice bartender offered to stay open a bit longer, if we wanted, but as the only people there we felt a bit guilty so decided not to take him up on his offer). We simply ask that you stop advertising games that you're not actually able to show/won't be open for the full game and you actually ensure that any enquiries that come through your booking platform get answered. I have used Collins and know you're alerted of all new enquiries AND if they haven't been answered within 48 hours....

Outstanding BBQ food and dishes.
N. W.
Great atmosphere for sport, very busy for big fixtures so worth booking a table unless you're happy standing. Good selection of reasonably priced beers but not somewhere you come for the food.
S. F.
Be better if they had beers delivered.
D. D.
What a turn around. And not in the usual way. Not a theme pub. Part of North Laines Brewery. Not only lots of beer, including Jamaican Porter, but very decent wine list. The menu is... Hot dogs of all creeds, cheese and sausages. Lovely staff and personalised sports viewing. Peg whittling anyone? Gonna be a regular here! ♡
D. K.
Lovely new pub with a unique interior and furnitures.
Staffs are friendly and 20% student discount is amazing!
Sky and Bt sport are available.
Good place to watch football matches!
N. B.
Quaint little sports bar with five big screens and little screens around the tables. Beer good as well. Perfect for a Saturday afternoon sports fan, who likes a pint. Good. 😊
K. A. C. C.
Nice little pub that has recently been renovated. Overall design is nice, had a great pint there. There are TVs everywhere so great for watching sports.
C. M.
Sometimes a great footy pub, sometimes they have open mic nights and turn the commentary off. Would be better if they decide what kind of pub they want to be. Worth phoning ahead to check if they're showing the game
T. A.
Great place for food and football
M. H.
Interesting selection of beers, great fun trying them out, very friendly staff. Last night, the 80s themed live music was absolutely terriffic!
T. W.
Great pub. Lots of screens for sport excellent beer options and really good menu for snacking like nachos and wings. Will be back
S. C.
New home for PapaPitta's Cypriot kebabs. Go for the mixed souvlaki with a choice of chicken, pork, sheftalies or halloumi. Guaranteed to soak up the beer and turn you into a Greek god. The thin sliced chips with herbs are brilliant and the baked feta is amazing. Left me wishing I had room for more because the lamb chops had me salivating. Epic food.
D. P.
The food was amazing! These guys really know their BBQ and deliciously cooked meats!
D. H.
Best sports bar in Brighton, great food great staff and you need to check out the commentary box upstairs
B.
The food sounds like it would be filling but isn't at all. Staff are nice.
S. r.
Great venue to watch sports, the food looked ok too. Bit noisy but it was day time so full of kids watching the match.
J. C.
Nice bar, plenty of tv's so everyone can see easily
S. H.
A lot better than the Branch as was, a really nice refit, nice food and a good selection of beers. A bit studenty, but most in that area are. Well worth a visit
T. H.
Good pub, good drinks. Food not great and toilets not looked after. Drinks typical Brighton prices - i.e. pricey so would expect staff and establishment to be up to standards of rest of Brighton. But hey ho!
A. M.
Good beer and food, great place to watch sport with a number of tvs positioned around the entire bar - 20% off for students with a valid student card
T. H.
It was alright but seemed like a really painful experience ordering via the app when you are sat next to the bar.
F. D.
