New owners , new lease of life ..first visit since it was taken over during covid , had a good selection of beers that are really well priced , Beavertown was under £6 which is unheard of , they have a giant dog which is just the soppiest thing going and the owners are super friendly , the food menu looked delicious and caters for meat , veggie and Vegans - we will be back 🙌

Moved here 2 weeks ago and found this place. Run by Lovely people and have kind locals. Good music, vibes and food :)

Seemed nice enough but its 5pm in the middle of December and they haven't turned their heating on! The three notices on the door are a bit ominous, but didn't appear to reflect the atmosphere inside.
As someone once said, businesses that display signs warning how bad behaviour isn't acceptable, are the ones most likely to attract those who behave badly.
Edit: just received quite an agressive reply. I was sat there in a t-shirt, jumper, and a duck down parka. Your heating must be broken as the two radiators in the main bar were ice-cold.
No need to play the victim. I said it was a nice enough place 😌
And the door notices, as I said give a false impression and would better be removed
Also FYI, 3 stars means its OK. 4 stars means excellent, 5 means above and beyond. Check Google guidelines.
Oh, and implying I gave a bad review because I was some sort of Billy No Mates on my own says it all about how you think of your customers. I stopped there for a pint on the way home as I'd never been there before

Have just returned from an overnight stay, the first B&B customers since new ownership, we are so pleased we chose this place! Juliette & Nick are the perfect hosts, attention to detail was amazing. Our room was lovely, beautifully decorated, comfy mattress, thick, fluffy towels and tea, coffee and biscuits provided. Separate bathroom has easy to use shower and good, quality toiletries are provided. Breakfast was absolutely first class! Full English, really tasty and beautifully presented. Location is great, walking distance to The Lanes/seafront or like us, visiting your son/daughter in their student house in the vicinity. A hidden B&B gem in Argyle Road. We will be returning soon.

My partner and I spent a really nice evening here today. The owners are lovely, and their food is delicious (top quality burgers). Great atmosphere and experience all-round.

Pleasant small pub under new management. Much more friendly and welcoming than under previous management with food and good selection of beers and wine. Hopefully will attract more laid back friendly clientele than previously.

My partner and I very much enjoyed our recent short stay at the Argyle Arms. It's a charming neighbourhood pub that has recently been renovated by new owners (Juliette & Nick were very welcoming & friendly, as were their staff) and is also a B&B with one room available, and at an attractive price.
We were delighted with the room, which was large, attractively furnished & decorated, and - most importantly - had a large, comfy bed that we slept very well on together. (In fact we even made a note of the pillows and have bought some since we got home!)
The bathroom was separate but for our sole use, also modern/renovated and with an electric shower that worked perfectly.
Breakfast was excellent, with a range of options available to suit all tastes, and checkout was flexible, allowing us to make the most of our day before departing home.
We had a lovely stay, can't recommend it enough and look forward to staying there again the next time we're down in Brighton!

The nicest pub in Brighton! The most friendly and welcoming atmosphere and amazing open mic nights every month. Well priced and a great music selection!

Lovely pub, very cosy with a proper old fashioned "local" feel to it. Well kept beers and good friendly, helpful bar staff.

This is a lovely establishment! Reasonably priced drinks. a homely and warm atmosphere and decor, and kind and considerate owners. Their dog margie also adds so much to the great vibe! Am yet to try the food but the menu looks great and can’t wait to have a taste! Highly recommend! One of the best pubs in brighton

My local, new owners did it up and it's got such lovely vibes, friendly staff and very student friendly too. A beautiful dog behind the bar whilst being served also 🥳

Such a warm and cosy pub with really friendly staff 💛 The food is really yummy too so I will definitely be coming more often!

The new owners have transformed what was a nice but tired sports pub / cheap lodging, into a bright, welcoming and pleasant community pub. It now seems less of a blokes den, there's even a small courtyard garden which we never knew existed before.. :)

I don't know how it happened but I appear to have given this pub a bad rating a couple of years ago. Maybe too many drinks on that day sorry. I also enjoyed popping in for a drink here, classic back street boozer, always well run, sorry for mistake, I think it may: have been some pocket rating. Good luck to new guys running the show now, hope to see you soon.

Amazing pub with such amazing and welcoming staff. The new owners have really transformed it into a hidden gem of brighton

Always liked this pub but the new owners have made this space feel even more open, community-felt and cosy. They've massively expanded the food menu and drinks menu (delicious cocktails!). Excited to try the camembert and biacoff churos!!
P. M.
Lovely pub, friendly staff and nice pub dog. Could not recommend highly enough.

Very nice pub, good prices. Hidden gem in Brighton

Great vibe

This pub and inn was perfect for us. They don't serve food but are welcome to you bringing your own. The owner/bartender, Derek, is a great guy who made us feel at home there. Prices are good, there are some games to play, and darts and pool.
Upstairs is the inn (owned by the bar) and it was clean and spacious and comfortable. Keep in mind it's an inn and not a flowery bed and breakfast. The bathroom is a shared bathroom, as stated in the inn's ad. Perfect place to enjoy your time. I'll definitely be back!

A bit of a hidden gem. No complaints with the cask beer and the lager drinkers were happy. I’ve eaten here on two separate occasions - the quality was high, portions generous and carnivore and herbivore options are available in abundance on the menu.
It’s great to see a pub not obsessed with hipster trends, yet still retaining a diverse clientele.
Excellent place to watch sport as there are multiple TVs.

Occasionally visit this pub with friends for a game of pool or darts. Review based on this pub for this activity.
Barman was friendly as always. Pool table is a bit cramped so if you're bringing your A game, bring your "junior" cue for about 1/5 of your shots as well.
For a game with mates, it evens out so you can have a lot of fun, despite the lack of space
K. W.
Cosy boozer, nice owners, cool dog.
D. A.
Nice people, they have my beer. Clean toilet. Seats outside on the quiet street
P. T.
Nice pub with nice people. Good beer and the locals made us feel welcome. Loses a star for an important reason - it really does take a long time to get a drink. I promise this isn't an exaggeration; there were two (just two) people ahead of me and yet it took 15 mins to get served.
A. S.
It’s a must if you like to drink a very average pint while enjoying the smell of old fat coming from the kitchen. If you don’t like music, you’ll like the place even more. The ventilation is so loud, you can barley hear your annoying wive complaining about the rude neighbours of the pub. A true experience.
R. C.
Bit quiet but it was mid afternoon on monday. Good service and good burger/hot dog menu at very reasonable prices compared to the usual ripoff prices in the area. Pool table too. Proper pub!
J. W.
Very basic accommodation - no TV or kettle, and some noise from adjacent railway. The basics are fine, though: clean room, comfortable beds, flexible check-in and check-out. Cereal and toast provided for breakfast in the bar.
M. O.
Only £4 for a pint of Strongbow Cider, really decent prices for Brighton. Sat outside in the sun, was so nice! Would recommend for a cheap, local, quirky pub
S. L.
Really good place to stay. Located near Brighton station. The staff are welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and warm. Good value for money
L.
Very cozy pub, nice staff, good events, reasonable prices and choice of drinks. Would recommend, feels like a proper local.
J. H.
My favourite pub in Brighton.
I. d.
Nice vibe. Music not too loud.
J. G.
Next restaurant sucks and the employees even joke with you..... Not the pub, the kitchen next to it
A. T.
Always a lovely time here. Watched the Spain vs Portugal world cup match here. Jesus Christ that was a great match.
C. M.
Classic british boozer, always has the footy on, pool table and darts, beer is cheap af, 5 tuaca for £10, hidden gem!
A. M.
A rare hidden gem in Brighton. Real local feeling, quiet, friendly staff and the food is good and reasonably priced. Will be coming back!
S.
Great pub, good choice of beers, all the sport and friendly atmosphere.
R. H.
Really lovely, very "traditional", not a great selection of spirits but lovely staff.
L. M.
Really nice lady that works there and very friendly regulars. Calm, kind pub!
M. N.
Local pub with good beer and traditional atmosphere. Very nice experience.
J. T.
Proper local, with friendly staff and great, good value burgers, etc. Good for watching football and more, as there is Sky and BT. Highly recommended.
A. F.
Lovely room very clean basic but adequate really friendly helpful staff nice breakfast in pleasant atmosphere will definitely be back
A. S.
Popular lunch spot with a wide mix from ultra-geeks to car mechanics. the ultra geeks all eat the food, that car mechanics concentrate on the booze. Food variable depending on the cook.
A. W.
