Reviews of The Bright Helm - JD Wetherspoon
F. W.
Very busy but we did go on a Saturday late afternoon, great cocktail jugs for a great price
Y. R.
Food tasted great. Great size portions. The usual Great Wetherspoons value for money.
D. S.
Slow service, the staff did their best but there simply weren't enough staff to meet demand. It took over 30 minutes for a single food/drink order. Food very good when it arrived. The coffee machine broke 3-4 times and needed a staff member to fix it each time. The pub is untidy and lacks any atmosphere.
H. P.
Went here this evening with my brother and wasn’t the best. I ordered the grilled chicken burger which was very hard and only had a few chips. My brother ordered the large mixed grill and had the same view with the chips also being cold in the centre. The waiter was very quick to slap the food on the table and run! The atmosphere is chilled and overall clean and the bar staff were helpful
S. S.
This is an excellent way to see Brighton and all the surrounding landscape. Friendly staff and good choice of beverages if you want them to accompany the exhilarating trip.
T. D.
We were there for dinner after the Brighton Marathon. It's a nice spacious bar, nice decor and clean. The bar staff were lovely, very helpful, polite and happy. However I was a little disappointed with the kitchen staff. I wanted the gourmet rump, if you look at my picture you can see the descriptions of the specials, classic rump, gourmet rump and on main menu the gourmet sirloin.
The gourmet Sirloin is the same as the gourmet rump, just a different steak and a sauce. The staff had trouble ordering gourmet rump on the till and called the Kitchen who told them they were out of the gourmet rump meal but could do classic rump meal. I asked about gourmet sirloin, which they had, and I said that it was the same as the rump dinner, could I not have that but with the rump steak, they obviously have rump steak as they were offering me the classic meal. I even offered to pay the sirloin price but just have rump instead. The kitchen person got totally refused to do it and appeared to upset the bar staff on the phone. She came back to the till and apologised that the kitchen said they couldn't do it, even after she pointed out it was the same as the sirloin meal, just different steak, guess they were having a bad day.
So I didn't get the meal I wanted, although the sirloin was nice, I just prefer rump. Having said that, the others in my party enjoyed their meals, the food was nice, as was the atmosphere.
r. f.
Good service quite comfortable would like to see better seating at left side of bar not the high stools
B. D.
A classic drinking and eating spot for anyone looking for bang for your buck and nothing more. If you've been to a spoons you get the idea already. Loud and energetic atmosphere in the evenings weekends and fairly quick service even during busy times. It's a hit or miss to be honest, but most of the time it's a hit.
L. M.
You can't really go wrong with a 'Spoons, if you keep in mind it's a 'Spoons. Two meals and two pints for under £16! Not haute cuisine, but tasty and satisfying. The manager here is a diamond, helpful and cheerful, the staff are pleasant too, despite being rushed off their feet. I'll be back!
D. G.
Had breakfast here when staying in Brighton for the weekend, great friendly staff and lovely breakfast, can't wait to come back to Brighton for a breakfast here.
I. I.
When asked for salt we were told to look at the tables around the pub. Staff don't rush to serve clients or help with anything. Would have been old good whetherspoon otherwise.
R. A.
Great for cheap drinks of a night out. But the breakfast was cold and forgot to put the bacon on the plate. Tomato’s hadn’t even been cooked.
R. B. B.
I only stopped by for a quick one so can't say much. However it is wetherspoons and that should tell you enough. It has a massive garden and the pub indoors seemed quite spacious. Why pay a ridiculous £5+ per pint elsewhere when you can getva nice pint here for less than £2?
o. m.
Positives : friendly staff, good menu and prices, quick service
Negatives: venue is worn out and a bit gruby, food was not great (we had ham egg and chips, ham was dried out, chips not great, the ingredients were of good quality but not handled well in the kitchen.)
With a bit of tweeking could be a great place.
M. T.
So good affordable tasty clean and overall a really nice place to go for dinner
J. S.
Good atmosphere, food and drinks arrived quickly despite being busy. Food was hot and tasty, will definitely come again.
S. K.
Near where we stayed so had evening meal & breakfast next day. Busy place and staff worked hard. Nice atmosphere and good prices
m. w.
Waitress very polite and helpful.
Food and service is great.
Overall nice lunch will return, thank you ....Table No1
M. V.
Coffee machine was broken so I couldn’t select a few options. The food was good, I ordered a tradicional breakfast. Capuccino was awful.
S. P.
I great pub, lovely staff but a bit chilly as time went on. Could do with more heat for comfort.
m. h.
Its a Spoons so you know what to expect. Popular with visiting footy fans so avoid on match days of you want a quiet drink
L. A. P.
A classic spoons with sticky tables, cheap drinks and food. It’s quite central and close to the seafront and a few of Brighton’s best clubs.
S. J.
Pleasant staff, cheap decent food and drink and plenty of tables, situated close to the sea front and very close to a travel lodge.
N. T.
Love this place. We ordered online and I don't think it took 5 minutes to the order to arrive. Super quick.
And the light curly hair girl politeness was amazing. Thank you so much for cleaning our table and being so nice.
P. L.
As ever Spoon's provide great value.
This particular pub was excellent
Food was very tasty and great service
R. O.
Best with breakfast. Very family / friends orientated. Full of laughter.
B. V.
Good value for money. We had breakfast there for £4.10 (vegetarian). Unlimited refills for coffee, which is really great.
Nice people at the bar.
I. H.
Monday night managers special 10 oz Rump steak with all the trimmings and Peper corn sauce best steak we have had in years
M. P. P.
It's great here, we really like Wrstherspoons anyway.. two main meals, mine an extra large mixed grill with two drinks for less than £25 pounds... We love it here....
J. T.
Good place to have some drinks. Dirty glasses were found
A. F. S.
Wetherspoon is the best value for money for food and drinks. The burger menu is cheaper and better than in famous fast food chains. The pub makes you feel at home with nice carpets that make the place quieter. Plus lots of natural light during the day. It's also possible to order from an app!
R. B.
Given that I'd paid £5.40 for a pint down on marina drive it was a relief to find a Wetherspoon's. This one is very handy for the railway station which is just up the road.
G. D. F.
I love this place and all the Wetherspoon!! Very nice food and a great choise of drink and beer!
L. J.
Large and quite efficient Wetherspoons, but with no character and often quite rowdy and unsavoury patrons even in the daytime.
R. M.
Not enough staff . Good was cold when it arrived! The man who took our order didn't explain about a simple or a normal curry. Notbvery clean either.
s. s.
Ja was OK staff friendly food hot beer cold can't complain
r. b.
Good pub.. could spend more time clearing/wiping down tables
N. H.
It was Monday Club when I visited, meaning it was extremely busy and every table nice and full
Good atmosphere and cracking prices as always
V. T.
Good, cheap beer and brilliant cider. Those telling lies in the media about this firm can stricture their oesophagi and choke themselves, because they are so far up their precious personae that their heads are hanging out of their mouths.
S. T.
Went for drinks before a football game. Cheap drinks, good atmosphere but sadly poor food.
H. T.
Large pub well managed very good selection of draft beers and a decent food menu. The price's are really cheep a typical Witherspoon chain pub and there nothing wrong with that Cheers 🍻
M. H.
Nice food quick service polite waitress and reasonable prices
J. H.
Great prices, good food and good service seeming how busy they were.
E. B.
Really helpful and lovely staff, food could have been hotter but you get what you pay for.
G. C.
Was ok, but had to ask for replacement cutlery as the ones provided were unclean.
L. R.
Quality of food good. Centrical. Not the best Wetherspoons I have been but it has been good
J. W.
Particularly bad spoons: poor signage around the bar had no relation to the actual guest and world beers they actually sold, and the men's toilet was an absolute state
M. H.
Had a breakfast, was good. Can't go wrong with witherspoon for price or quality
L. A.
I went here 2 weeks ago, the meal was lovely I enjoyed the Chicken tikka and the drinks. The staff were friendly and its was quick service.
S. I.
Excellent food for the price along with a great selection of drinks. The place was very crowded, but with the Wetherspoon app was really easy to order and food was served relatively quick given how crowded it was overall. Plenty of seating with an upstairs and downstairs.
J. W.
Standard Wetherspoons, but clean and the staff were helpful. Useful power points available and drinks were keenly priced. Limited range of real ale at the moment though.
D. H.
Great staff helpful and friendly. Food was really nice. Great value for money. Dose need a clean tho. All in all great experience
C. L.
Good brunch here with my parents. Helpful staff. Good lattes from the machine.
j. s.
Very cheap friendly staff and clean and tidy the bathroom was a bit messy but still nice to go
D. G.
Don't know if they were victims of the 'pingdemic' but everything felt a bit tired, including the staff. While there is no question that all were doing what they were getting paid for, there was little, if any, enthusiasm.
E. J.
Not very clean, service was fast but not very nice and too eager to clear plates and drinks wanted to get us out.
P.
Pretty basic 'spoons, floor needed a good sweep and vacuum even in the middle of the day.
m. d.
Working in Brighton during June / July, 2021. Must say excellent pub , and staff so helpful and accommodating, and good value for money amd good quality food, one of the best JD Wetherspoons I've visiting alot of the staff are students and are so polite and respectful . Good social distancing measures in place . 10/10 . Really enjoy coming here after work and having a meal credit to the management.
C. K.
Great food and drink. Plenty of choice and tasted great. Would recommend.
J. O.
Nice pub good choice of beers and food, large seating area, good staff
t. b.
Normal Wetherspoons. Cheap drink and good range of drinks. Place could do with modernising.
J. R. (.
Standard spoons but a little small for my liking especially with social distancing in place. At the time of visiting the staff where excellent and humoured all requests and the food was spoons standard. Only downside was the long wait for a table in a queue outside.
Be warned, you will be waiting for a while to get a seat but the friendly staff and cheap prices make up for it. Go between Monday and Wednesday for practically free food with the eat out scheme, although not the best place if you're at risk of covid due to wetherspoons poor covid response.
K. S.
Good quality food.
A. T.
Typical Wetherspoon pleasant setting nice big pub and all the stuff you would expect from the brand. Can't go wrong with a spoons.
S. O.
Slow service but very friendly staff and great location. Excellent value for money
J. B.
We had a Brunch breakfast and the food was lukewarm, not our idea of a nice meal.
T. G.
Cheap and cheerful. Nice enough staff. Bit slow to serve but that was more down to the awkward customers. Food was nice enough.
M. G.
I haven't been but always busy inside I will be there for a day
D. F.
It's a Spoons. Great place, good food
M. D.
Typical witherspoon's you get what you pay for but decent enough
R. h.
Looking a little tired but still decent beer and great prices
N. L.
Service not up to weatherspoon standard.no check backs , toilet not clean , general service slow.
p. “. 2.
Bought a pizza to share with my friend, and not gonna lie, I felt a bit sick after. Wayyyyy too much sauce, and it was really difficult to cut. They gave us the tiniest knife ever and the cheese was just messy. Service was okay, but the staff just looked bored out of their minds and talking to them was super awkward. The food is quite cheap but not really enjoyable.
Not sure if I'd like to come again.
P. B.
Good beer not so good grub.
Z. B.
Good wetherspoons nit too far from the beach and station, as good and cheap as usual 🙂
S. L.
Your typical Witherspoon's, with all the good drinks. Lots of seating and easy to order.
E. R.
Friendly staff, easy ordering, pub clean and tidy.
O. M.
Always cheap drinks food was a bitt less.but still good service
T. A.
Well busy, slow service, food was average. Weatherspoons.
S. C.
We had to queue outside for a quite a while before being allowed in, which is obviously not their fault.
We were allocated a table near the door which became a bit drafty as the afternoon went on, again probably down to current regime.
We had to wait just over half an hour for our food and drinks which were very gratefully received and we're very nice.
J. F.
Great place for a liquid breakfast, if that's your thing. Normal breakfast was a bit lacking in flavour and serving hot food old cold plates is just such a bad idea. Nice has browns though!
V. H.
Lovely scampi and chips as usual. Smiley helpful staff.
I. F.
Two storey Wetherspoons located on the main road down from the station to the seafront. Lots of seating. Food / drinks are cheap. Can take a while to get your order though.
J. L.
Came in for lunch and the food was very nice and liked the look of some of the new items added to the menu. Bar service was friendly and was told in advance there was a wait on food which wasn't that long anyway. Toilets were clean and very nice too. The only reason it's not a 5 star review is becayse there were quite a few tables with empty plates and glasses on them which made it a bit tricky to find a table. Will probably come back!
S. D.
Very slow in serving, app seems to take longer, food cold, stairs need a good cleaning, not the best weatherspoon we have visited, lots of tuna but a very small potato
G. B.
Great location and reasonable price for drinks and food.
M. K.
Basic Wetherspoons! I'm sure it has been a nice place but it's quite run down and dated now. Food was OK, and standard cheap beers
g.
Typical Spoons. Good beer, good food. Nice
c. k.
Curry during the day, v good, service was exceptional
M. A.
Lovely pub, spoilt by smell from gents toilets.
J. B.
Cleanest Wetherspoons I’ve used and food always comes quickly.
D. L.
A bit smelly and not very clean. Breakfast and coffee is cheap tho.
A. J.
I can't believe how big this place is, it's massive. Great atmosphere and loads of themed shots.
S. R.
Ok staff could be better and need to know how to use a mop
D. M.
Ok, food ok but very busy and had to go upstairs for a table which was very noisy.
S. B.
tasty food. cheap beer. good service
C. D.
Typically Wetherspoons cheap but good stocks 👌
A. R.
Very busy. Quick, attentive and friendly service. CHEAP.
D. M.
Considering how busy it was service was quick food was hot and nice. Table next to me was moaning about how long it was going to take for food dispite being told on the way in. Lots of people disregarding the social distancing markers in place bar staff along with there busy work load having to remind them. They done a good job.
R. C.
Pleasant breakfast experience. JD Wetherspoons appear to be gradually reducing the number of baked beans :-) Quick and friendly service
K. B.
A very busy Wetherspoons pub, staff very pleasant
N. W.
The pub was quite busy but the staff were very quick to serve you, so you didn't have to wait to long! We ordered Burger with Jack Daniels barbecue sauce and chips! It arrived after just 10 minutes and was all hot and tasted lovely! Will be back again soon!
N. S.
All a bit hyper for a Tuesday lunch time. Obviously a popular venue by the length of the queue overflowing onto the pavement. Wetherspoons by appointment....Na. Gave it a miss.
p. h.
Very busy place.. Mask required... Didn’t eat in.. We were finding for a halal food.fish and chips are safe options!!
R. B.
Excellent pub, loads of tables, good prices
J. D.
Very slow service using the App but then it was a very busy Saturday Night.
M. B.
Nice meals but ran out of ale lol
J.
Two bars and a restaurant I tried the brunch not bad at all.
K. W.
We had a great breakfast there just before noon. Total cost under £8 for both of us, good value, and very tasty. Had a pint at £2.59 also good value, my wife had a coffee, which you can have a refill for free if required. Great staff, very helpful and friendly, we will be calling again soon. Thanks
N. H.
Busy, can't fault the service tho despite this! Good staff, friendly and polite.
L.
Now if you are in Brighton this is a great place. Service was great probably less than 5 minutes from ordering on the app to table. Staff were friendly and socially distanceing all in place and working well.
M. L.
Good service , good food at its price
M. S.
It's a wetherspoons. Nasty, dirty place with grumpy staff. (They asked me why! when i asked for the table wiping down when i ordered food). But, that's what is good about the chain. Cheap & cheerful. If you enter the place expecting no frills, you'll love the place.
C. S.
Friendly staff. Quick and easy food ordered via the app.
K. B.
Very busy seaside pub. The food was hot & fresh & the serving staff very helpful & cheerful
G. M.
Food good. Prices good. Long wait to order. Tables dirty. After going downstairs found the Ladies toilets out of order with a sign saying more toilets on top floor. Shame a sign hadn't been put up so you didn't waste time going down the stairs first. Limited choice of teas, only black would like an alternative of green.
A. G.
Very busy but it was a Saturday when the football was on so can't complain about that. Huge range of reasonably priced drinks including some local ales. Didn't eat here but menu is typical wetherspoons, something for everybody. Will visit again soon.
G. G.
Hit and miss this place. Have had excellent food and service on some occasions but also been awful on other occasions. Breakfast is generally always good though.
Value for money though is superb as always with Wetherspoons.
Tables always seem to be sticky but staff are generally very good with the odd exception.
V. B.
Can't go wrong with a Weatherspoons pub. Good cheap grub. Great G&T. Nice friendly service 👍
M. M.
Good, food and drink great prices
D. f.
It was a busy evening but expect sticky tables and getting the wrong drinks, although the staff is friendly.
L. F. (.
Great spoons. Just would like the option of custard for desert
W.
Social distancing is enforced at tables.
Found them to get a bit close during the table service.
Visited in the morning, so unsure what it would be like in the evening, but a pleasant enough experience for breakfast.
P. B.
Food standard consistent with other Wetherspoons but no time or attention given to clearing used dishes. The top floor was strewn with used glasses crockery and cutlery. On arrival we asked for our table to be cleared, then a second request at the bar, but It didn’t happen so we moved the dishes to another stacked table and used wipes to clean before food arrived. This was the only thing that seemed to let down what appeared to be a very decent pub.
O. G.
Visited this pub on a couple of visits to Brighton, typical Wetherspoon fayre. Not a bad place, but not one of their better buildings. But pretty good all the same. If passing give it a go, might beat some of Brightons Beer prices!
D. O.
Had a great evening staff were great only issue was out of the 4 of us 3 of our meals were cold
M. W.
It's a spoons, there's not much to fault it. Dirt cheap drinks, security with two bouncers on door and security inside. TVs showing the news (BBC) or sports events. Floor can sometimes be sticky, drinks can also be a bit slow to serve at a moderately busy time and food is like Russian roulette: Will it be good? Will it be taken to the table quickly? It's always dependent on the day and what you order. All in all, great pub for meeting friends and chilling away an hour or two.
S. H.
Just another dirty but cheap wetherspoons
J. B. (.
Great staff, bit short on beer choice, great food but not the best location.
A. A.
Nice place in here big weatherspoons good atmosphere worth coming here.
C. R.
Very busy so a bit slow on clearing tables but cannot fault the food service.
c. w.
Poor service. Take breakfast menu away. No new menu put out.
D. C.
Pub was nice. Food was OK. Service on drinks was dreadful. We had to keep asking for them as we could see them just sat on the bar. Not as if it's busy with limited customers.
S. E.
Easy to access found the new ordering system a little had to understand however got there with a little help from the staff food was good.
t.
Good spoons not far from Brighton station and a short walk from the pier
A. C.
Staff were extremely friendly and although table was dirty, promptly cleaned up. Cheap and cheerful food, very quick service. Advised it can be difficult to get a table but no issues on this occasion.
C. E.
Had a well done sirloin steak, could not fault it
J. M.
Good pint, feel staff not up to scratch, more training and better english
S. G.
As spoons goes. This one is extremely average. Not had any major problems, but had to wait 10 minutes for 2 drinks on one occasion and had to go up to remind them to bring drinks one breakfast visit. The food is standard spoons. There's an upstairs and downstairs, it's a fairly average sized spoons. Tables are often a bit sticky.
a. h.
Great value but a bit over used
S. H.
A typical Wetherspoons pub with a wide selection of ales and food at competitive prices. Use the upstairs bar here as it's often quieter. Good service from the staff.
J. R.
No frills and fancies excellent value for money.
S. A.
I go to first floor to eat. Very inexpensive. Double a spirit for an extra £ with food deals. The food is okay. Friends and me meet once a month there. Great choice of beers all at a fair price.
J. K.
Food was tasty, good prices and incentives with value for money meals including drinks.
Noisey Echoes and loud talking is always a problem at these huge Weatherspoons venues. So not the best place for a quiet drink.
J. B.
Great service lovely staff good food
S. H.
Out of all the spoons in Brighton I personally like this one the most. Light and airy with large windows with good street views. Helpful staff.
M. T.
Typical wetherspoons well organised so busy had to queue up for access.
Tables in short supply
S. B.
Nice enough for Wetherspoon's unfortunately we had to send our meals back twice as they were cold when we were served them, but the manager dealt with the situation in a friendly and professional manner and gave us a refund. This was just our experience and not necessarily the norm for this particular public house.
J. “. M.
Ok but long queues to get drinks
A. S.
Its always been fine everytime I have eaten here. Quick service, clean and good was good.
Food is simple and reasonbly priced. This is not a big place so best to go early during busy times. Staff friendly.
P. L.
Good service, great food served hot and tasty. Meal deals available
L. C.
It's a spoons so you get what you pay for, which is to say its basically a fast food joint meets a pub.
However they have far too many tables, so it's difficult to actually get out from your table without having to ask someone to move.
S. N.
Lovely food lovely atmosphere lovely staff
D. W.
We were staying near by and went to thia pub for the gin festival. The guns were gteat, however the place was full of tables uncleared from previous clients, the floor was filthy, and the stairs were covered in dust and glitter. Which wasn't good as there were tables under the stairs.
Upstairs was better, eating surfaces along the window needed to be wiped down as still had residue of food and condiments.
A. W.
We were lucky to find a table. This place is obviously very, very popular. Hardly surprising, as good food, great selection of drinks and all very reasonably priced. Very pleasant, polite and helpful staff. Will return for sure.
D. D.
Excellent Atmosphere, Very Busy, Staff were Friendly and Helpful under difficult conditions. Food was Good, Eggs unfortunately well overcooked, But, it was really very busy and didn't spoil the Meal which was well presented, We enjoyed our visit and would Def recommend, Wheelchair Access was Good, Except Tiolet Facilities are down stairs so not access to All.
W. F.
Not quite the usual Weatherspoon standard I'm afraid. Food took longer than usual and when came my buttermilk chicken was rather over cooked. The pub itself was untidy and one of the entrance doors were smashed and looked dangerous. This was the weekend of Brighton pride so no doubt it was a very busy weekend for them however standards should still be kept with planing and preparation. Staff were friendly and helpful.
L. A. B.
Staff got confused with order. We changed our minds and ordered 2 steak and kidney pods but recieved 2 steak breakfast meals. Food was good though
J. A.
Very nice and very busy, but got served quickly and food was fresh
J. V.
Such a good place to go for cheap drinks before you go out ! The food is lovely especially the bbq chicken panini so affordable would definitely recommend to others around me
J. P.
Quite slow to get our drinks when ordered from the table
L. F.
Nice place meal n staff were good
T. K.
Your bartender AJ Tracey (Alex J) was absolutely amazing!!! He gave us great customer service and he definitely deserves a promotion/pay rise!! Hes so great!! All of your staff are amazing and im so glad i work in Brighton on sundays!!
A. S.
This was my first time going to a Wetherspoons. I didn't know you need to show id after 8, but that's just something I'm not use to. The service is really straight forward if you download the app. There's plenty of space and it's quite lively.
B. M.
Very disappointing....no pizzas and not many curries
t.
The bar was excellent in here table service was prompt and your orders arrived in good time, food was good (we had the breakfast) a wide variety of food was available for all tastes well worth a visit
S. L.
Food ok. Atmosphere lacking. No music just a very loud hum of chat. Overall there are much better bars but if your looking for budget this place is good
M. K.
Possibly the cleanest wetherspoons I've ever frequented. It's all glass & silver finish, some would say cold & impersonal I'd say fresh & clean
Also this place has a glass facade so you can watch the brighton mobs waddling down towards the beach as you enjoy a fresh clean pint of beer.

I went here and sat in the upstairs bar and had supper I had the Empire State burger which was excellent as usual though the onion rings were totally incinerated. Unfortunately I did not want to have to wait for them to be redone so I ate what I could and left the rest the burger was excellent and the chips were well cooked the service was slightly slow as the manager seemed to spend most time Vaping outside so when beers ran out he was not available to change the barrels the loser acceptable the ambience is start upstairs and the windows leak cold air they could do with cleaning painting and draught proofing. The exterior could do with some lighting lighting up the words the bright Helm and the signage is totally out of character for the area. I enjoy going to Wetherspoons pubs but I have to say that this is my least favourite one and until they sort out the hugely drafty upstairs I won't be going again in a hurry.

Lovely breakfast land friendly staff
B. C.
Great selection of beer and great prices as with most Wetherspoons pubs. However, it took 45 minutes to receive two small breakfasts and it can get quite cramped when busy and usually nowhere to sit.
L. C.
The price all right. The staff members are get confused with the orders and some of them give the orders for wrong tables. The foods are poor, very basic, small portions and not really tasty. The restaurant was clean.
C. M.
Magic all staff friendly made you welcome
A. I.
The Bright Helm is in my opinion the better Wetherspoons in Brighton. It's more spacious and I never have an issue getting seats here which makes it quite good for groups. There is sometimes a wait for app orders so it might be worth just ordering at the bar if it's not busy. It's still your standard Wetherspoons in terms of value and quality but I've found it to be a friendlier and less busy place than the other Wetherspoons (Post and Telegraph)

Very cheap and reasonable from Carlos Lloyd in Eastbourne
R.
Cheap and cheerful drinks and food. The cocktails are really nice, the food taste good especially the full english. The staff are very nice too.
P. R.
Good prices and good food but rather noisy
A. D.
Fast effective and cheap.
Great chain Weatherspoons 👍
K. M.
Actually a really nice Spoons. It's only been at full capacity a couple of times, which is nice and rare for a Wetherspoons. Staff are always polite and kind, and a good atmosphere. Really close to the beach and Churchill Square!

Good food.Enjoyed it and order was quick using their Wetherspoon app.Not impressed that you can come to this place and not talk to any waitress or bartender but you would still get served as your orders are taken via an app.THIS KILLS COMMUNITY vibes and destroys human communication
S. S.
Lovely, lively pub, totally wonderful after this last year ❤
M. P.
Not a very good selection of soft drinks
D. O.
Not visually as appealing externally as most other Wetherspoons (easily overlooked), but as with the whole of the brewery chain you know exactly what you are getting food & drink wise once inside!
Friendly staff and a short walk from the sea front, what more could you ask for?
e. f.
It's a place with a young crowd might want to rethink if you need a quiet pub..
a. c.
Nice place, it's a great environment
A. H.
Standard wetherspoons. Took them a long time to clear the drinks from the previous customers and they didn't wipe the table at all
C. S.
Pub serving honest grub at basic prices. Good value for money, especially breakfast, which has special deals.
A. P.
you know what youll get at wetherspoons. been using them for years..great choice of drinks, and food.
A. L.
Although in a prime position this is the only Wetherspoons to not offer a single guest beer for my last few visits the barman said they are having pump problems again . Can be great here or can be exceptionally busy. Great Spoons prices...best position is to sit upstairs and watch the world go by...this is like spying real life human traffic on West Street.
P. M.
Food was quick and tasty, beer was clean and well presented albeit in a plastic container (home football match), filled with away supporters and home supporters having fun, however they only knew one song....
m. l. p.
Food came very quickly, friendly and helpful staff. Very clean :)
C. W. (.
Easy to navigate through, very clean and also one of the brightest sunniest Spoons I have ever been in!! Great big windows let the sunlight pour in.
B. C.
Food was typical of wetherspoons, cheap and cheerful! Just a bit scruffy and table was sticky, again typical wetherspoons! Still recommend for budget food and drink. Meal and double gin for around £9, bargain!
M.
Good location, customer service wasn't as good as it could be compared to other Witherspoon's but it's good for quick and cheap food and drink.
a. s.
Good breakfast nice staff
J. M.
Very quick service on the app. Food was lovely and value for money. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Recommended for a weekday lunch.
T. F.
Typical Wetherspoons. Food and drink is cheap. Couldn't get the drink I wanted at the downstairs bar. Chose an alternative but that was unavailable. Went upstairs in the end. Upstairs is nicer. seating and tables looked less worn.
E. N.
Food was ok . Just didn't like the whole ordering online.
Luckily my kids has the apps or else l would've of starve. Was only visiting.for the day. Son in Uni
A. E.
all Wetherspoon Pubs are great whereever you are in the UK & Ireland Google to find your nearest one. Coffee is as cheap as £1.30 with free refills. Always look round to find yourself a good seat, recharge your phone, use free wyfi, water top up, great staff just ask.
J. C.
Friendly staff and great tasting food, this is my local cafe for those work lunch breaks where a packed lunch simply won't do. The food is well priced and for those who like classics, they sell toast and sandwiches.
L. R.
took my two daughters as one going to music academy . after food drinks lovely and my daughter loved it as she asked for identification as she is 18 and just got drivers licence. good atmosphere
R. A.
All good but bit chilly
l. d.
Popped in for a beer, ordered using the app so easy and simple to use and prices excellent
J. R.
Very busy wetherspoons but good service taking this into consideration. One star knocked off my rating as the toilets were not available when I visited. Good value breakfast.
d. a.
It's a Wetherspoons, always found the food good. Easy to get to, but like most of their restaurants, no parking, but you are right by a multi storey anyway. Can get busy but brilliant service!
J. S.
The must have 5 stars for what every 'Spoons represents on curry Thursday. This particular establishment has more in common with other places on West Street than it does with other Wetherspoons perhaps but in keeping with all others on Thursday it does a perfectly serviceable range of curries served with rice, doms, naan and a pint for £8. The extra 20p is always a worthwhile upgrade for a smear of garlic on the naan
J. S.
Quick service and pleasant atmosphere
N. A.
It's a weatherspoon. But I have never been stopped by the bouncers and asked if I am carrying alcohol inside my bag. This at 7 pm on a Friday. Never seen that before
A. E.
you cannot beat Wetherspoons for food n drink with fine people. This pub in Brighton is just down the hill from tne station, great shopping too guys.
E. D.
Food is ok. Staff is friendly. Unfortunately there was a fracas before we arrived. Two men over a women. One of the men stabbed the other with a steaknife. Police was out in arms. Literaĺly.
M. J.
For the time of day, very good.
S. H.
Ok customer service could have been better. Disappointed with stock. Customers should have been informed of food items that were out of stock.
K. D.
Not the best of weather spoons pubs. Staff were good
L. B.
Stayed in local hotel and ate breakfast in ‘Spoons’ because it was handy. It was ok, not the best...Asked for whole meal toast got white.
It wasn’t the busiest pub!
S. P.
An unlimited refill mug of coffee or tea for 99p is a bargain 🤗
C. J.
A typical Wetherspoons experience with good service and a fantastic range of beers. The pub itself is very spacious and well lit and a good place to go to for a cheeky pint or several!.
D. T. F.
The food was good and the service too. It is a good place to stop by for a drink, but it is extremely busy at lunch time, so can be tricky if you only have 1hr or less for break.
F.
Pretty bland, out dated decor, slow service. Food isnt special, but its grub and a pint st decent price.
A.
Much more modern than the other spoons in central Brighton, however I think it lacks the usual spoons charm. Food and drink is good and cheap and the toilets are very clean. Short walk from anywhere in central Brighton and also the beachfront.
L. M.
Popped in for a quick drink very nice place
Y. B.
Does what you expect. Cheap drinks in the centre of town, good place to get merry before going out 3 stars for lack of cleanliness, smell of vomit by the bar and then some one actually vomited all over a table which was ignored for ages then covered in salt and still ignored.
G. H.
Busy and tables weren't very clean, food was good though. We went for steak night and couldn't complain.
c. b.
Lovely food very nice
S. P.
Been here with my friends, always busy, inexpensive, great food, friendly staff, great place to eat if you are shopping in brighton.
N. H.
Clean, covid measures in place and low cost drinks
n. l.
Very nice food thank u
H. M.
Went here for drinks with friends. Staff were friendly and service was speedy! 1 star deducted because of the owner 🙄
m. n.
Service very good, food good, it just felt grubby, tables and floor a bit yuk
W. B.
Well, a not so great pub. Typically Weatherspoon, one might argue. It's serving masses with mediocre but cheap food. Beer selection is ok.
O. M.
Very lovely staff very welcoming, although we kept having a guy from a different table come up to us and harass us which was a bit ridiculous especially due to covid 19.
T. W.
Good value, very lively.
D. M.
Very central location with some nice seating on the first floor. Great value and good for a breakfast for two for around £11 with a soda water and blackcurrant
G. M.
Bright and airy Wetherspoons in the centre on Brighton. Great prices for food and drink, what isn't there to like?
This isn't the largest pub situated within Brighton town centre. There is no outdoor seating either. I can see that this pub will get quite busy as it's close to everything and as Brighton is a party town it will be popular starting point for a night out or for breakfast in the morning.
J. S.
Service very quick and food good quality
h. j.
It's a Spoon's. But the atmosphere and decor leave a lot to be desired. The only Spoon's I've not felt comfortable in
m. d.
Very good place for a drink, staff very friendly
E. S.
Just want I would call an average Wetherspoons place. Food and drinks at ok prices. Late afternoon a lot of people where eating. So I'm obviously not the only one enjoying the food there.
G.
Nice pint 👌 excellent value 👌
S. (.
It's a spoons, it's not amazing and it's not bad.
Usually I'd give a spoons a five, but the menu is getting smaller and smaller and more expensive dishes are vanishing.
S. N.
Cheap, good food, close to town. However food can take a while and is a bit hit or miss. It could also do with more seating but that's probably not possible.
