Perfectly serviceable pub with pub food as you might expect. Nothing out of the ordinary but nothing bad at all.If you want pub food then you won't be disappointed. This is by no means a negative review. However it is in the middle of an area that might expect something else! For this, I admire the place.

A warm, cosy, and welcoming bar and restaurant. In a previous incarnation I worked as a kitchen assistant in Brittany, many years ago. These mussels transported me right back! Maybe it was the freshness? We loved the woodburner and the vintage soul soundtrack too. Can't better it.

We had a huge Christmas party and I was not impressed with the food, main dish beef Wellington which was spicy! The staff didn't know if they where coming or going and no real hospitality! One waitress looked terrified the whole time. When we asked for bits they'd go off and not come back! This was my first time back in 15 yrs and it was rubbish then!

Only stopped for a drink but pub also had a rather nice food selection too which many of the other patrons were clearly enjoying. Table service was provided so if sat outside, as we were, no trekking to the bar. The loos were in the basement down a fairly steep staircase but we're very clean. I think they also had a disabled loo at ground level too.

Great place to lunch. Had a delicious BLT and the best Bloody Mary in Brighton. I like my Bloody Mary extra spicy and most bars can't get it right and I end up topping up the spices myself but the lady who served me was spot on. Highly recommend this establishment and I will be returning soon.

My friend and I were pottering around and decided to stop for a drink and nibble at The Dorset. I've been for drinks before and the staff are always so lovely. Even more so this time! Super attentive (but not in an annoying way), helpful, funny and just a brilliant afternoon, really made it a pleasure to visit. For food I had the cheeseburger and O.M.G, it was amazing, the best burger I've had in a long time! The waiter also told me the korean chicken burger is off the scale so will definitely be returning with the boyfriend as he's a big chicken burger fan. SUCH a nice visit, the staff made such a fuss of Teg, the black lab that was with us, the girls were even coming over on their breaks to give her fusses. Totally captures the Brighton spirit :)

Really loved here! The best pub food I've ever had in Brighton. Fresh fried calamari and risotto were the best. (Especially risotto was so good. We can't stop to eat even if we were so stuffed😂) We were so satisfied with this lunch. Definitely coming back when I go to Brighton again!

Very expensive, according to staff there was a new menu that the chef's were still adjusting to, as a result our cottage pies came out cold in the middle. Service was very polite however and remedied our complaints.

Popped in on a Sunday for a drink and snack. Staff obviously working hard and it was fairly buzzing. Only downside was my vegan jackfruit wings were cold on the inside, as in fresh from the fridge and dipped in the fryer or cooked from frozen. Managed to flag someone down and he said sometimes that happens if they don’t get cooked for long enough? Seemed a bit weird it was a common occurrence. It was also £7.50 for three wings with a bed of greens and dip so was expecting a little more. Anyway the recook took too long so I asked to remove them from the bill. Was a bit disappointing but apart from that everything else was nice.

We went to The Dorset for a quick lunch this afternoon and had a wonderful time. The staff were so friendly and loved our dog. They are so dog-friendly and made us feel extremely welcome. They even brought him out a bowl of water without us asking and each came round for cuddles with him. The food was lovely and so was the drinks. 10/10 would recommend I’ll definitely be going back soon!!

Quick and friendly service. Delicious food and big portions. Great burger selection, I’d go back again! This was a perfect spot for dinner before going to a Komedia club show across the street. I had the fish n chips which came w mushy peas and tartar sauce. It was amazing!

After a stroll around Brighton and some shopping the hubby and I strolled in out of the rain for some lunch and both decided on fish and chips. As the waitress came walking over to our table I saw the large plate and my eyes went all big lol. The portion of fish is massive your get a massive pile of chips underneath. The tartar sauce was very well done and it hit the spot. Although it was good and I'm glad to have tried The Dorset after walking by many times I'm not sure I'll rush back. I guess living in Brighton we are just spoiled with fantastic food options.

We popped in here because it was raining and we wanted some shelter and I'm very happy we made that decision! Staff were very friendly and very cautious with all the covid rules, everyone wearing masks, one way system and hand sanitiser available. The food was incredible, we had the cheese croquettes and the charred cabbage from the small bites selection and they were delicious and beautifully presented, we didn't have enough self control to take a picture before we tucked it but you do get three on the plate. to drink we had a coffee and a tea. Highly recommend visiting (and ordering the cheese croquettes)

The staff were polite, prompt, and more than I could’ve asked for. We only went for drinks, but we were very well looked after. My only regret is that I didn’t have cash with which to tip!

Really cosy atmosphere, we stopped in here by chance as we wanted a coffee and some drink. The bar was great design, nice little tables and chairs. Staff were helpful, friendly and lively. I noticed a cool window table built from old scaffold. Decor definitely adds a unique feel. Food was reasonable price for the area and it's not a restaurant, it doesn't seem to be wanting to be that, which is great as it opens up for a more friendly environment, like sitting in a pub you've frequented regularly.

Just had a drink but a lovely atmosphere. They sell Bluemoon so will get my vote anytime. I have them 4 stars as the young guy who was clearing the glasses was a bit abrupt, probably had a bad shift but I did not need to know that. Gets very busy after 12 so best get in early for a table. The staff there are great friendly and also helpful too. Wheelchair accessible also good for babies changing room. Toilets are clean and alway toilet paper. Food is very nice and at a reasonable price. £4 for a pint but sprites are not cheap they do have cocktails too lots to choose from. Dogs are welcome to very dog friendly. The locals in there are nice too. Don't get stared at when you walk in. At night it turns into a night club as I have heard good music and a great night out

My server, Martin was happy to ask the chef to accommodate my dietary needs (I am gluten intolerant) and provided magnificent hospitality. The Dorset Bar & Kitchen is quite a find. I can honestly say that every member of the staff team was courteous and happy to welcome guests. I can't wait to go back.

Came to The Dorset yesterday (3/8/20) with my girlfriend for an early birthday lunch. It was sunny and most people were sat outside. We however decided to sit inside and were seated by a smiley, friendly and informative Phoebe, who introduced herself and ran us through the menu and Help Out to Eat Out scheme. She left us to decide and things began to go downhill from there..Phoebe was shouted at by a man I assume was her manager for 4 or 5 different things. When she tried to explain he yelled ‘no replying...NO REPLYING!’ He then went on to speak loudly and openly to other staff about how she was doing his head in etc and it was evident that she just couldn’t do anything right in his eyes. He went on to complain about other customers and created an altogether quite uncomfortable experience for us. We may have been the only two diners inside the pub, but it was like we weren’t there at all. I appreciate it’s a difficult and stressful time to get back to work for everyone and having to wear masks and adhere to all new restrictions and EOTHO scheme, but I just felt sorry for the poor girl effectively being bullied at work, as she was spoken to in a manner I found unacceptable..everything else was brilliant, the food was spot on and the Dorset always has a great selection of craft beers, Gins and wide choice of options to eat (I recommend the calamari any day)!

A nice place for a quick brew or coffee in the centre of the North Laines. I haven't eaten there for many years so can't comment on the quality of the food but the drinks are good. the 3 stars are for a good quality location and drink but service and ambiance needs improvement, perhaps it was a bad day for them but it was very chaotic could have easily walked out without paying if I wasn't so honest. Don't let profits get in the way of providing good service!

The Dorset has a great atmosphere. The lovely manager (owner?) always makes us feel very welcome, even when we turn up occasionally on a Friday afternoon with three 4-year-olds! (The other staff are evidently happy there too.) In the evenings it's a vibey hangout which mixes locals and passing traffic. The food is great too, get the moules frites!

One of the best pubs in the Laines. Situated on a corner with outside Parisian style seating. The ambience is really nice. We were greeted on arrival by the landlord who was really friendly and welcoming. We sat outside and relaxed watching the world go by. They do Birra Moretti which is always great and the wine was good as well

Rain or shine, the Dorset is always there. Big change of staff after a recent refurb but its still the Dorset as we know it. One of the few pubs in town that properly manages to operate as a casual spot for a few pints as well as a restaurant. Well worth a trip if you haven't dropped in before.

An absolutely amazing Sunday Roast. To give 12 women multiple mouthgasm's is a hell of a feat! The staff, management and chefs were so accommodating and helpful about various diary requirements and food intolerances, especially with so many of us without a booking. What a WONDERFUL experience I had here at the Dorset. From the moment I walked in I was greeted and treated so warmly and so attentively. Ben, Nick and Nate created the funnest and the most positive atmosphere. And not to mention the INCREDIBLE food!!! (And additionally; probably the best Espresso Martini I have ever had... or 'Espresso BENtini' as it is referred to here at the dorset - uniquely created by the wonderful Ben himself - I would recommend it HIGHLY. It has quickly become one of my favourite bars/restaurants in Brighton.

Hmmm, clearly a nice pub, food looked good, but everything, beer and food, is expensive. Which is fine, it's a Brighton centre pub, so you expect to pay something of a premium, but for the prices they charge would a degree of customer service be asking too much? The bespectacled barman who served me, twice, look dangerously close of dropping dead of an acute case of apathy. Note: yawning in your customers face is not a good look. So, if you can afford it, go for it, it's nice, just don't expect to be treated like a human being.
