Reviews of The Fiddlers Elbow
B. C.
You know what you're getting with the Fiddlers. It hasn't changed since I was a student in Brighton in the mid-90s. That's not a criticism. It's a friendly pub that does a decent pint of Guinness. A bit airless and cramped for Covid times, perhaps.
J. H.
Very nice, character pub. A great pint of Guinness and lovely coffee. Very friendly staff, great service. Will definatly return when in the area....
D. T.
Great little pub down a side road away from a main road and a large franchise pub. Quick friendly service with a good selection of pints on tap. They have some sports memorabilia around the place and a number of TVs so I'm guessing it could be a good option to watch the Springboks take on the All Black's 😄
S. 8.
Great pub serving a good pint of Guinness. Gets very busy during sporting events so book ahead if you want a seat/table. Food also served or they allow you to order in if you fancy something different.
G. O.
Cracking, proper traditional pub. No airs and graces, no neon or chrome, just great beer at ludicrous prices (£3.85 for the best pint of Guinness on the south coast!) and decent, friendly bar staff. Having drank many times in Brighton, I'm more than happy to call it my B-Town local..
c. m.
Fabulous staff means the atmosphere is warm and friendly
Guinness is possibly best in town according to my Irish friends 😀 😄 😉
B. H.
Consistently the best Guinness in town. And I mean consistently over decades. Always a great boozer. If you judge the quality of a pub by the quality of Guinness, and I mostly do, then this is a clear winner. On my persistent search for the best pint around the world the fiddlers, admittedly outside the island of Ireland, has never yet failed. Great staff, caters for all, convenient city centre location. If you’re looking for a pint or more, a coincidental chat and maybe some entertainment then pop in 👍☘️. Just don’t say “for one”.
i. b.
Nice pub. Great atmosphere in here and they have live music 🎶
L. C.
A very cosy and friendly place, such lovely staff, delicious food - highly rate the amazingly priced pies.
L.
My favourite pub in brighton. Hidden away, great Guinness (at a reasonable price), really nice friendly atmosphere and a good spot for sport.
G. R.
The best Guinness in Brighton and cheap £3.70 a pint. Always friendly, great staff, amazing music and always has live music or an event on. So whether you want to relax in the afternoon or have a lively evening you must come here
M. D.
Best pint of Guinness in brighton. Ridiculously cheap at £3.80ish a pint, too. Classic old school boozer. Can get a bit lairy given its proximity to west street, but that’s a plus imo (given the abundance of gastropubs in the area).
D. H.
Iconic Irish pub in the midst of Brighton's nightlife. A great variety of beers. Worth a visit
T. B.
Steak and Ale, mash and mustard is mustard. The biz
c. m.
Great local, staff lovely, 3 stars as we only had a drink in there, didn't eat
P. F.
Great no nonsense proper Irish pub good Guinness ,music nights & mixed style punters xx
a. c. m.
Great pub ,its about £5.00 for a beer ,nice food ,you have to visit this pub in Brighton, I have a YouTube channel, ab cammy m ,it has Brighton Palace Pier, enjoy
G. C.
Great guinness! Staff are very friendly! Great place off the beaten track!
T. N. (.
Good pre-Brighton Centre drink stop. Guinness is good, service slow.
M. P.
Nice and typical Irish pub , nestled just outside west street the main party road.Food, drinks, sport and live music!!
H. H.
Lovely little vibe. Staff were class, so was the service. Drinks were a little pricey but we don't care once you've had a few
S. W.
Good beer, nice place to meet, jolly atmosphere.
B. L.
The Fiddler's is a good pub. Friendly, good atmosphere.
A. J.
Great place to watch the football and have a pint
s. s.
Great staff great atmosphere great place to have a drink
H. T.
One of my favourite bars in Brighton always a great atmosphere good selection of beers cheers
E. P.
Authentic Irish bar with lovely drinks, friendly staff and nice atmosphere! Many thanks guys 😊
P. M.
Awesome evening and gluten free draught beer
V. M.
Nice friendly pub. Lots of live music in the evenings and a good atmosphere. And with Guinness presently only £2.99 a pint on Mondays..what's not to like! I can recommend the crispy bacon, brie and onion chutney panini. Very tasty.
J. G.
Cracking little pub. Good beer, great staff, nice vibe.
I. M.
Lovely traditional English back street pub with a cozy atmosphere and really friendly staff.
Drinks reasonable prices and a great selection. Probably here and the "Lion & Lobster" are the best two traditional pubs in Brighton.
(Recommended if attending the Brighton Centre as close and not a soulless bar!)
J. D.
Very friendly,best pint in Brighton
J. M.
On a normal day, this would be a charming and genuine Irish pub, a compact but cute gem set near the Lanes. However, today saw Wales come back to trounce England in the Six Nations Rugby, so it was rammed with lots of tall blokes blocking the small screens. Top quality and well served Guinness as you would expect, but also a great range of drinks beyond the usual lager and cider additions. Will have to come back for a calmer pint one evening, especially if there's a bit of trad music going on.....
R. B.
Nice pub. Good Guinness. TVs for sport. The bar staff are very helpful.
A. C.
A very helpful (and patient!) young man helped with the on-line ordering & payment system. A lovely pub with lots of original features. Good covid routines. Great atmosphere and ambience in this place 😊.
s. m.
It's not the type of pub I would normally use but on this occasion I was there as my son was having drinks for his birthday I found it to be quite busy mind you it was a Saturday night.
The service and bar staff where very welcoming unlike the security doorman who looked like he did not want to be there.
Good choice of alcoholic beverages especially Guinness which seemed to be the most popular sold as I've never seen so many Guinness Draught pumps on one bar but that's fine as I drink Guinness.
There was a disc jockey playing in the back bar but you could not escape the music he was playing as it was being piped through external speakers all around the pub, music was in my opinion not bad as it was mostly 70s and 80s funky soul which I quite enjoyed to be honest.
Would I go back yes as long as the music was the same and I wanted a change as I am really not a fan of pubs based in the West Street area of the city.
p. h.
Visited this pub a few times. Last time after Paul Weller concert. Great little hidden pub down side street. Friendly and lively with a good mix of age groups.Does good food during day, not sure what time they finish. Good for watching sports including Gaa games as well. Good music.
N. T.
Cracking little gem, hidden away but well worth seeking out. Great staff, friendly drinkers.
S. C.
Friendly welcome and the best Guinness in Brighton.
l. b.
Visited on st patrick night, although it was extremely busy it had a great atmosphere and very friendly however the reason I am leaving a 3 star review is because the music was awful, it was at Patrick's night and they played hardly no Irish music !!! In an Irish bar.
A real shame they were resorting to 80s/90s cheese, Much like all the other bars in Brighton.
D. P.
Decent little boozer just off West Street. Good prices, food is decent. TV could use an upgrade though.
To escape the hustle of West Street it's a great shout. One of my regulars.
T. G.
It's a very great place to have a drink
I. C.
I used to love this pub - always lively as any Irish pub should be, great for watching the rugby and a reasonably priced pint of excellent Guiness. I'm really not sure what has happened recently though. Maybe new management who only think of £££ but the prices have shot up considerably. What used to be great value food is now ridiculous. I mean, £6.50 for a veggie sausage sandwich. Are you serious?! It didn't even come with chips, just 2 pieces of bread with a couple of sausages. Me and my friends are voting with our feet and won't be returning. Shame, but there's too much competition for great value pubs in Brighton to be paying these prices.
A. B.
Fun place for late night drinking and dancing
B. D.
As far as city centre pubs go, you can't go wrong with the Fiddlers. In fact, as far as most pubs go, you can't go wrong.
Word to the wise though. This is THE rugby pub in Brighton. If you want to get in, let alone stand a chance of seeing a screen, get here early. Like the day before...
E. R.
The quintessential Irish pub diw an alleyway near the sea. Expect a warm welcome and good beer. I'd like to try the food sometime when I visit Brighton
A. S.
Enjoyed a meal here with friends on a day trip to Brighton. Good choice on menu , meant we could all have a different type of meal while sharing meal time together.
M. B.
Very nice pub, good selection of beer and pleasant staff. Nice atmosphere definitely a pub that is welcoming to all visitors.
K. G.
Has a stench if you are a bit if you are early, but the Guinness is bang on and there’s a convivial atmosphere. Serves crisp sandwiches, making it a winner even for those who are not of Irish heritage.
S. B.
Lively popular pub hidden in a back street with efficient and friendly staff. Often with live music, sport on the TVs and with a fun crowd, the craic is good here and well worth seeking out.
J. P.
Packed, heaving, bit hot.. But great vibe in this truly traditional Irish Pub in Brighton... Can't wait until St Patrick's Day Street Party!!!
B. C.
The 60's rock playing in the background was pretty good and so was the decoration... but the food did disappointed me a little. I had a beef ale pie and it tasted like old preheated food..
T. M.
Great atmosphere and wonderful service. This is as close as you can get to a traditional Irish pub in Brighton. Very good for live music too.
D. H.
Been here a few times when in brighton, great for sports on tv friendly bar staff and very busy little pub, keep up the good work, look forward to coming again
D. B.
Authentic Irish pub! Pints of Guinness are around £2.50 for deals on either Monday or Tuesday. Wonderful location and nice vibes.
M. P.
Proper Irish bar in the centre of town, but tucked away enough to keep it fairly local. Great staff, live music and the best Guinness.
Y.
Top of the morning . Solid Irish pub . My brother drinks there this is the sort of pub that if you took back 100 years it would fit in . Local people singing... you will not find a pint of Guinness cheers in Brighton . Loos stink but it's a pub not a fake pub
J. M.
This might be the best pub in the world never mind Brighton. The live music on Thursdays and Sundays is awesome. Paddy, the guvnor is almost as funny as me. See you there soon whoever you are. Hurrah.
R. P.
Really good drinks were good was only going to stay for one but had to have another didn't eat there but has food available a good atmosphere everything good definitely be going back 👍
M.
Used to be the best place for St Patrick's Day but was a bit overcrowded yday. That's not to say the staff and security are not excellent... for them they have 5 stars!
t. l.
All good in this place.
V. M.
For me this is a traditional Irish pub live music open mic nights great atmosphere. Friendly clientele and staff.
R. W.
Cosy Irish bar with central bar, lots of seating, various events including Quiz on Tuesdays. Food served until 8pm. A couple of TVs with live football.
R. C.
Great Irish style pub in Brighton, out of the way but usually busy. Great food and Guinness to die for. Order a burger.
D. E.
What a great find my friends and I had when we were staying in Brighton on the weekend of the Brighton Marathon. We discovered The Fiddlers Elbow!! We knew nothing about the place and were walking by and popped in on the evening of Sunday 17th April.
Great atmosphere, brilliant staff and customer service from the team that evening and lots of banter, conversation and attention given to my friends guide dog Crispin.
Please thank the staff for their wonderful welcome, we enjoyed it so much we went back on the Monday evening 18th April as well and again had a very warm welcome. Next time we are in Brighton we will be calling in.
Thnak you to all
David
A. L.
This pub is fantastic during the day - full of atmosphere and charm but at night especially at weekends descends into a screaming moshpit where even the Guinness becomes unpalatable
H. M.
Great pub with a great atmosphere. Really good value food too and they sell Tayto crisps
P. C.
Great staff, atmosphere and setting. And best pint of the black stuff ive had in Brighton and for such good price. Gotta try it out!!

A. S.
Decent selection of beers. Some good acts on the open mike night, particularly the guy playing the Richard Thompson and Steve Earl stuff.
I. K.
Decent pub with a decent range of drinks on tap. Bit of a young person's haunt (not a classic old man pub), but has plenty on offer during the week.
P. S.
Nice pub. Good food.
B. W.
Back street Irish Pub, went in on St Patricks Day, the place was obviously heaving, but they put on a decent night. When it started to empty it was obvious it's a bit rough round the edges, but it does the job.
A. S.
