I watched Scoops - an improv cabaret here. The pub downstairs is friendly and the service was excellent. The function room upstairs is surprisingly airy and I love the booths. While i had a great time, I have a few friends either in wheelchairs or unable to climb stairs, consequently the function room is completely inaccessible to them. Is there a way of using the side entrance for a wheelchair lift or similar? (Expensive, but funding may exist for such things).

Nice chap behind the bar. Tried a darkstar ale. Very nice and not overly expensive, especially for the location. Right across from the train station. I've been here before and it's always really good. Great roof terrace as I remember. Definitely worth a visit.

Good food, nice atmosphere. Dreadful place to get into for djs in the nightingale room upstairs.... Handy to know if you're booking one. Once You've skinned your knuckles getting the gear in, it's well set up with a small, in-house pa for soloists and duos etc. And a large mixing desk and lighting control.

Really good food and a hidden gem of a beer garden. We ordered a couple of sausage and caramelized onion ciabatta sandwiches. They came with triple cooked chips that were the perfect balance of crispy and fluffy. Far better than we expected from a quick pub lunch next to the station.

Excellent. Very well staffed by quick and efficient people. Different lagers, not your run-of-the-mill Carling or Kronenbourg. Also - probably one of the best looked-after and maintained pubs that I've had the pleasure to visit.

Always the first stop off the train, love this place, just feel so sorry for them that Brighton Council feel it is acceptable to allow that much rubbish to pile alongside the pub! Shame on you council.... Grand Central, you keep doing as you do, you're great!x

Very nice bar with lovely bartenders and good chef. The interior is decorated in an informal way with colourful furniture which gives you a nice chilling experience. Hidden away upstairs there is also a lovely roof garden. Food was all good, particularly the lamb shish with fresh tzatziki sauce and toasted pitta.

I came a couple of weeks ago with my partner and friends on the pub’s first day open since the COVID-19 lockdown. We were initially hesitant about returning to the pub, but we were pleasantly surprised as soon as we went through the front door. We were greeted by a member of the staff straight away and they took us through all the information that we needed to know and showed us to the table. The service was great by all members of staff and we had a great night. Highly recommended for anyone in Brighton who are looking to go for a couple of drinks and something to eat.

We arrive to the city too late for dinner, all the restaurant close to our hotel was close, so we decide to go to this pub that are in from of the terminal station and was a surprise, good food, good music and people. We will come back.

Downstairs, ground level, is a dark foreboding place with steely-muscled bouncers who check you out and in. This is a Brighton pub where footie is the religion and wants no visiting fans. Want to pay 5 quid for a plastic skiff? Go for it. Upstairs is, in comparison, a cornucopia of partiness. Beer in glasses is served. Hurrah. But I was there for a friend's birthday. Its a great space for that. Otherwise, head to the Lanes and pubs there.

Popped as I had missed my train and had time to kill; was not disappointed. Ordered the buttermilk chicken burger which was faultless. Also tried the mango IPA which was also great. Good measures in place for "corona times" despite most people not bothering to read the sign at the door and walking straight in 😂 Would deffo come again next time I come to Brighton

Such a lovely pub! Super dog friendly, dog bowl and treats on arrival! With its brilliant location next to Brighton Train Station, you can easily pop in for a quick drink/bite if you are early for your train. They also have one of the best rooftop beer gardens in the whole of Brighton.

Amazing places! Within throwing distance to the train station. The staff are all super nice! Most will much better beards then me! The gem that sets this place apart it’s the beer garden upstairs on the roof! With the weather being as nice as it’s been this week after work before getting the train home myself and some co works have been up there every other day! Definitely a place to try and if you’ve got 20 minuets till your next train what’s there to lose!

For a pub positioned near to a railway station this place is pretty decent. Good selection of reasonably-ish wines, and jolly good toilets. Staff were pleasant too. In fact, it's a good place to have a drink, stare out of the window, and people watch.

This place has a lovely feel to it. While most of the staff are helpful and very lovely. There is a few there who seem to just be half asleep when serving. My last visit I had quite a lengthy wait to get service at a time when there was probably 7 other people at the pub. But the positives outweigh the negatives it's got a nice feel too it, it feels very safe to visit as there is always a friendly bouncer on the door on Fridays and Saturdays. The atmosphere is always on point and the drinks are very reasonable. I'd recommend this as a place to go out for a casual drink with friends or a date or even a place to stop off mid drunk night out 😂. but there is better places to go for a proper night out with others I'd say.

Came here for a work event which was held upstairs with its own bar area. The party food we were served was a great standard and the drinks they offer were pretty good too. It's nice to have a decent beer like Sierra Nevada on tap alongside the more standard ones you see in pubs. I guess as it is located in Brighton they need to offer something different and they do a good job of it!

Super convenient location as it is next to the Brighton central train station and bus station. After a major renovation a few years back this pub has transformed into a friendly, reasonably priced venue with surprisingly pleasant food. In the summer the roof beer garden is a dream.

Really nice pub with a good selection of drinks and food. The service is usually really good despite the pub getting very busy at times. Being situated directly outside Brighton station, the pub is an ideal meeting point too. The hidden gem of this pub to me is the outside + rooftop area - an absolute must in the summer!

I've been here quite a few times when meeting up with people in Brighton. Being so near to the station it's very convenient. The pub also stocks Fullers beers on tap which is a big plus. The food is good too, nice quality and reasonable portion sizes, there's just not a large variety of choices. The pub itself has a pleasant ambience and a choice of standard and high tables in the main dining area and also a sofa area. Facilities are ok. Haven't been upstairs or in the garden so can't comment on them. Best aspect is the staff, who are welcoming, cheerful and helpful.

We had a 40th birthday party here (upstairs in the Nightingale Room) last weekend and there is nothing we can fault, in fact far from it! Leading up to the party the staff were so friendly and accommodating and the night didn’t disappoint either, the food was lovely and the bar staff were amazing, so attentive and seemed nothing was too much trouble. We have had so much great feedback from our guests and we would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone, and actually one of our friends was so impressed that they’ve already booked their next birthday here. We can also vouch for the Sunday roasts too, we recently went as a group of 4 adults and 3 children and the food and service were top notch.

It's worth pointing out that most of the reviews on here were written before the recent refurb of this pub. It used to be quite rough but has been taken over and redecorated to a really high standard. The Gin bar upstairs was closed but the manager showed it to us and it looks amazing. Didn't try the food but will definitely be going back soon.

The only issue with this place is the men's toilet door is jammed open so you could smell the toilet from the bar and hear the hand dryer through the whole pub every time it was used so they need to do something about that.

A pub close to Brighton Station. It has a great function room (Nightingale Room) with separate bar and catering and restrooms. Pop in here if your train is delayed or you've got a couple of minutes before your train departs. Alternatively oil up here before heading into town for a night out in Brighton.

Dont know if I was unlucky. But my 3 starters where so greasey. I had to keep getting up to get napkins, when two staff behind the bar and no customers. I also had to get up while eating to get a drink while staff stand behind bar and chat. The squid was good size and cooked amazing but it was meant to be battered (it wasnt). Fish cakes where nice, but that cant go wrong. Its a alright boozer but I wont be eating again, unless they get a new chef or one with a better attitude and more respect for food.
