What a lovely pub to walk in to, first time in brighton and on st james street, came in to this venue as it stood out from the rest met by bar staff Ben and Mason, they made my first time welcoming and friendly, an array of different drinks and spirits, snacks and games on offer they are a dog friendly pub, with a clean warm friendly atmosphere they go above and beyond and it shows. Such lovely gentlemen, welcoming and friendly highly recommend a visit for drinks and chats, thankyou lads.

Walked in and wasnt really sure what to do but the friendly staff were quick to spot we looked a bit lost and welcomed us to a table. The staff are amazing here and made us feel extremely welcome from start to finish. We had some food and it was really nice and well cooked. Excellent lebanese food with lots of different choices. Would thoroughly recommend trying it. The prices are also great for the area and was very happy with the quality. Deserves more kudos than it currently has. Music was also on point.

Visited Brighton for a weekend such a lovely pub, made to feel very welcome. Stayed 2 doors away so popped back in the evening and a DJ was playing, we ended up staying all night. Great music and room to dance too. Lovely pint of guiness made the night.

Lovely evening in this nice pub last night, went with friends, really friendly bar staff , especially Corie and Sophie , could not do enough me and my friends. Spotless toilets and cool music . Good vibes all round , a real mix of people, had a homely feel , which you often do get in city pubs . You can tell this is an independent pub , and not a bloody chain , which unfortunately so many of Brightons pubs are .

I'm very happy we stumbled across St James Tavern, as the food was delicious and the staff were all so friendly. Even the chef came out for a chat:) The food was very tasty and came very quickly. Loved this place before the refurbishment and change of kitchen. The Thai food (now at Mucky Duck)and Guiness was amazing. Judging by the other reviews we've obviously been there on 2 off days since reopening. Staff not so freindly or attentive, food was a bit bland and all 4 of us left still hungry. The live music was good though. Used to go regularly but not sure we'll be rushing back. Not awful just not great.

Popped in for the first time in over a year and so impressed with what the new owners have done. Came late on Saturday night and my husband (cask addict/ camra member) said it was the best pint of Harvey’s he’s ever had. Loved the atmosphere and great wine. Came back today (Sunday) and had the fresh and delicious Lebanese food. Excellent value. So pleased to have a pub offering something unique in Kemp Town. The staff and Doug are really friendly and give great service. Highly recommend.

Only in Brighton for the one night and was intending to undertake a bit of a pub crawl, however ended up staying here for the whole evening. Cracking pub, very friendly staff/owners, good beer, and some wonderful funk & soul vinyl being spun by a superb DJ from decks placed on one end of the bar, all creating a brilliant atmosphere. Probably the only black mark was it closing too early 😉. Would deffo recommend a visit.

Love this place, have done since moving to Brighton decades ago and this was my local. Great rum bar. Be careful, it's easy to get carried away especially with their rum passports. Their Thai menu is really lovely and great for lunch or dinner. The pub is physically small so can get very packed, very hot during busy times.

A typical English pub offering Thai kitchen which is actually a great combination I find. At least if you love Thai kitchen as I do. So if you would like to have your beer or wine accompanied with a nice selection of curry and other Thai dishes this is your place. Lovely pub atmosphere and nice crew. This is perhaps my favorite place in Brighton. I first visited the Saint James six years ago when at the university of Sussex. It is as great now as it was then. From the massive selection of rums to a great number of beers there is something for everyone. The food is some of the best around, with a great balance of flavor and spice. If you come to Brighton and miss this spot you have done yourself a disservice.

If you're new to drinking rum, or a total rum afficionado, the Saint James is the place to go. I don't know the exact figure but they have huge variety of rums on offer! On my most recent visit I tried out a pineapple rum which was absolutely delicious. I've tried a few over the years but that one has to be my favourite. Also they do fantastic Thai food here too, a must try! The staff are friendly and great at giving recommendations for the rums depending on your taste. I'd give it 5 stars but the toilets aren't the best, but what pub does have amazing toilets in Brighton?

As two northerners who frequent this pub every 24 months or so we are greatly distressed that this fine establishment no longer sells hot toddys. We planned our trip based on their legendary beverage and are now left in utter disappointment. What we're going to do in 2019 is now a complete mystery as our future plans have been left with a barrel glass sized black hole.

Easily my favourite place in Brighton. Two questions you need to ask yourself... 1. Would you like to be a pirate? 2. Do you like Thai food? If you answered yes to either, then this is the place to go! They have an insane selection of rums (pirate) and their mai tai cocktail is the nuts. And the Thai food is the best in Brighton. (I recommend the salt and pepper squid). Value for money wise it's amazing. We come here all the time and have never been disappointed. Go try it: you will thank me... just don't chop your leg off and replace it with the leg of a chair afterwards! Aaaaarrrrgggggghhhh.
