The best roast in Brighton I've ever had, and I've had a lot. Has recently been refurbished and along with it looking nicer, the staff are better. Also perfect to watch the sunset. I almost didn't write this review because I wanted to keep it all to myself. Fantastic food, fantastic service, good beer; it's worth the climb up the hill.

Went here for the first time on Sunday. It was a birthday treat organised by my niece (not my birthday BTW!) Great service (table service), staff masked and tables cleaned between customers. Good choice of Sunday roast menu including veggie options. My mum was able to order a child's portion (at half the cost!) which was just right for her. The food was delicious and all four plates were cleared. The missing Yorkie was supplied almost immediately much to my brother's relief! The only negative comment I have, and this is about personal preference, is that the food wasn't hot enough. I like my food piping hot, straight from the oven hot. I appreciate this isn't possible when your kitchen is elsewhere in the building and you are dealing with lots of orders. Which is why we didn't say anything at the time.

I may be biased, living only three doors away, but THE FOOD! Really well made, presented. The pub has recently been refurbed and the new management are top notch. The views as ever are the best in the city!

Love this pub!! Beautiful refurb and the garden has the best view of Brighton. Friends really enjoyed the veggie roast this Sunday, I was gutted that I’d already eaten but I did manage a cheeky bowl of potatoes with gravy. Looking forward to going back asap!

I have been here many times. The food is REALLY good! Sunday lunches are some of the best I've had in Brighton and the food during the week is delicious too. I was lucky enough to catch the sticky ribs when it came on the specials board, and they were THE BEST ribs EVER! Meat falling off the bone and a Man vs Food sized stack of them too. Plus, if their chips aren't the best you've ever had, then my name's Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo! But what sets the setting sun apart is the staff are all so lovely and friendly. They were even happy to create a dessert that was not on the menu at my friend's request using a spare Yorkshire pudding. See Pic. It's a great pub with nice locals and a chilled atmosphere. 100% recommendation.

Really nice pub. The view of the coast from the bear garden gets people in but the new interior is cool too. Really friendly staff. Food was OK but the vegan burger was a bit heavy and dry, fishcakes a bit tasteless.

Went for a sunday roast and it was so tasty! I'm gluten free as well and they were really good about it, the only thing I couldn't have was the yorkshire pudding which was great as a lot of the time I cant have the gravy and sometimes even the roasties are unsafe.

What a lovely pub, with great food! went for our Sunday roast here and the food was delicious, defo up there with one of my favourite roasts in Brighton. A little more on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. The rear balcony has amazing view over Brighton, sadly it was a rainy day so very grey, but i imagine in the summer the sunsets would be incredible from there. Staff are lovely & attentive, completely dog & child friendly.

Really loved this place. It's quite a walk from the centre but well worth it. The views over the city are great with a really nice terrace to enjoy them in. The staff are friendly, service is very efficient (dirty glasses removed as soon as we finished) and it is dog friendly.

A deceptively small pub, with a very small bar area, yet with sufficient seating to not feel like you are on top of the next table. Beer is at the more expensive end of the scale, £4+ for anything on tap and wine more so. Visiting on a Sunday revealed one of the least impressive Roast menus we've seen in quite some time. And the lack of food visible on tables may speak of their quality, but as we didn't eat, this is purely speculative and not a fact. However, if you are at this end of Hanover, there is one cast iron reason to visit... The beer garden. Whether in the conservatory or outside, you get a unique view of Brighton and on a Sunny afternoon, continuous sunshine. There are better pubs in Hanover, but also far worse. Worth a visit.
