Lovely bustling pub , great atmosphere. The bar despite being very busy was extremely efficient and pleasant and also quick service. Good range of drinks . The toilets are interesting , if you were a large person the mens cubicle could be awkward.. . I think the toilets were an after thought. Great evening.

Great Sunday Roasts and friendly staff! Loses a star as: Took far too long and a visit inside to confirm our booking and, at our last visit we were waiting 10 minutes to get staff attention for the bill and was only approached because they needed the table for next reservation.

We went there to eat before a gig later on that day and it was the best idea. The food was tasty. I had the pork belly and it was just delicious. The best part, the back garden. Great drinks, great atmosphere and a friendly staff. I will go back!

A nice spacious pub in the heart of Kemptown. The decor is cosy and can handle a party of about 8 without too much hassle as there are plenty of long tables toward the back. For smokers there's a nice back garden area (partially covered). Food is from the standard hearty pub menu.

Very good Pub. Fantastic service, I could taste some beers. After a long trail (cliff walk) and a lot of sun we stoped here in the pub. This was our first cold beer and comfortable place after 15 miles of walking. We decided to order the TK house burger with salad and chips. Super! Try yourself.

Dropped in after a long walk, desperate for refreshment. We sat in the back yard to enjoy the last of the sun. We soon had to move in to the front comfy area. The pub wasn't too busy or noisy at that time which suited us well. Only had a couple of drinks from the local brewery but really enjoyed the visit. Hope to come again when next in Brighton.

Always loved this pub, I popped in for a quick libation before heading to Proud cabaret Brighton to dj the after party. Always a friendly welcome beers are well looked after food is great. They do a nhs discount which is also a bonus. Well it would be if I every had my NHS ID on me... Lol

Our go to pub in Brighton, even if it's off the beaten tourist path. Worth the trek, either via the sea road or St James St (I think that's what it's called). In the winter they used to light the fire, may well still do :)

Never used to be a fan of this place but they've really upped their game in recent years. The food is very decent with good quality roasts and a proper banging nachos. Only loses a star as they're limited with the poor quality Laine beers all the pubs in this chain have to serve. The Lagunitas is a decent drop though

We booked a Christmas buffet lunch for 10 of us and we were really impressed. The table looked really festive, the service was friendly and we were impressed by the amount and the quality of the food. We had one vegan and one gluten intolerant and all the food was carefully labelled. A great meal - we will return!

Really great atmosphere and friendly staff. They've a good selection of beers that are appropriately priced. The food is always really tasty and good portions. Definitely worth booking ahead on a Sunday though, as it can get quite busy. The pub quiz is also a lot of fun - great range of rounds and questions. There's a big beer garden, well more of a patio garden. But it catches the sun!

A nice, friendly pub of reasonable size. Good selection of drinks which are inexpensive. Good for large groups but sometimes quite quiet (which may be perfect for you). Food menu looked really nice however I had just eaten elsewhere so didn't sample anything. If you are up in that area of town then definitely a pub to visit

Chose this pub over 5 years ago for a pre-wedding drink (or two). Been before and keep coming back, obviously full of nostalgia. But this place is great. Plenty of space, also outside space. Good beers and really nice food. You can reserve a table beforehand which is cool. Staff so friendly and helpful. Will continue to return, maybe buy a house just up the road

Much subdued from how I remembered it and the staff are still having problems adjusting to table service although they are trying very hard. Its an unfamiliar role and giving customers direction, allocating seats and briefing them about the covid rules feels to be rather tricky for them, because it feels like the opposite of hospitality, which is what they are much more used too. Having to give orders probably feels very awkward and having to deal with one or two people who want to ignore those rules when drunk, is quite a test! But we must all play the game and sitting at the front looking down to the seafront on a warm night with a cold beer is still pretty well unbeatable, so good luck to them!

We have just had what I honestly can say was the most fabulous Sunday roast I have ever had in a pub! We had the pulled beef from the guest roast menu. Beautiful! Staff were super friendly too and service was quick an accurate. Well done guys.

I love coming here, it's a great local that I've grown more fond of over the years. Amazingly friendly staff. Always. The food is pretty good and they change the menu up quite often. There are some great healthy options and good vegetarian dishes too.

Really good pub! Cosy inside and has outdoor area at the back. Decent drink selection! Highly recommended food!!!! The quality keeps getting better! First went a year ago and was pretty average. But maybe the chef changed in the last few months because now it's amazing!!! Great for vegetarians!!!! The veggie sausage and mash is probably the best I've had anywhere! Veggie sausage sandwich is pretty good too. Oh and the veggie sharing board is absolutely delicious and will more than satisfy 2 very hungry people. Love the Thomas Kemp!!! Always a nice friendly atmosphere too. Def recommended!!!

A nice pub, we had a really awesome bar maid who made the best Pimm's however other staff members seemed aloof with a too cool for school attitude. The garden is a lovely spot for summer, the loos are a bit smelly though. Overall I'd recommend it - varied crowd, couples, kids birthday party, families and friends all seemed present and doggos were welcomed ♥️

Thank you to the brilliant staff at this gem of a pub; The Thomas Kemp, especially 'Tom' who ensured the family had a wonderful experience! The Sunday lunch served on that day, 7th July was outstanding, I had a 'double roast' cooked to perfection. It was followed by the most delicious 'Bread and Butter Pudding' made with brioche and served with a generous dollop of clotted cream. All washed down with a refreshing jug of Pimms! The written menu was clear, to the point and fun to read, so well done to whoever designed it. Again, a perfect Sunday lunch, exemplary service and joyous atmosphere! Well done The Thomas Kemp Pub!

A great selection of beer, a nice little garden and good food in a spacious pub that sits in a nice, generally quiet part of town. Bit off the beaten track but worth a detour, especially on a Sunday as this place does some of the best roasts in town. Only gripe is the staff have seemed a moody bunch the several times I've been in here but then I don't grudge anyone having a naff day at work.

We headed down to the Thomas kemp late afternoon and were looking for forward to their delicious roasts. Such a nice atmosphere as always however the worst service we have received here in a long time. The looks on the staff faces were dreadful. We walked in and asked if roasts were available and the lady behind the bar reacted as if she wanted to go home and we were a burden. We ordered drinks to our table and there was no eye contact just abrupt yes and no answers. The waitress slammed down the drinks on the table . Very rude and unhelpful. Particular was the lady with long blonde hair and the other was the lady with red hair and glasses. We felt very unwelcome. Apart from that thanks to the chef as the food was perfect as always.

A little gem tucked away in old Kemptown. Doggy friendly, and they do sausage and fish finger sandwiches, which would be a great treat for a friendly doggy. Food good, and came quickly. Very pleasant decor, and friendly staff. A very nice crowd too. 5 stars and a paws up from me. 🐾

Thomas Kemp is an amazing place if you either want to have a family dinner or just the two of you sitting down having a nice chat. The food is lovely , the staff are nice and the vibes are brilliant. I'm glad that its only a minute away from my house . I do recommend this place not just for its food , but for its atmosphere too.

Tres disappointed when invited to a fancy dress party circa 2015. My uncle being sir John Gielgud, I researched my costume in the vaulted halls like the old vic, Imagine my horror after researching mass murderer Myra hindly, and turning up de trop, to be asked by Ethel behind the bar, where I got my scarf....wtaf...and it was Hermes....daddy is writing to colonel bickerstaff, it’s just not cricket....
