We enjoyed the seafood linguine, the fish cake and burger!!! It's a plus as is a promotion time so 50% off for main course!!!
The desert of Eton mess with the alcohol was very tasty!! Definitely all of our favourite.
The manger Liz make us feel very welcoming!!!

J. B.Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We came for Sunday lunch and ordered a three meat dinner and a beef dinner. Food was delicious, although I didn’t received any chicken with my three meat dinner. Not that big of a deal for me, I still enjoyed the food. I’m sure had I brought it to the attention of the waitress, they would’ve resolved the matter immediately.
I’d definitely come back again, and likely to do so in the near future! :)
I. E.Went this evening 08/01/2022, we had the best time. The staff managed to fit us in for a large table of us with only a few hours warning. The location - great. The building - beautiful. Interior - stunning. The drinks were amazing, I Cheekily ordered my favourite cocktail that was not on the menu and the bar staff made it for me. It was amazing, I really enjoyed it and it looked great.
The food was fab, the portions were really good sized, the fish and chips was massive and so tasty. The brownie was so rich. The staff were incredibly kind with the dairy allergy at the table and double checked on everything. The staff were really lovely, fun and relaxed people which gave the whole place a lovely feel. The manage (or the man I spoke to on the phone) was super amazing about a little mix up so shout out to them and our wait staff. We will deffo be going back (giving them more notice and bring more family and some friends). Thank you! Also amazing bathroom!
a. s.Lovely restaurant in the city centre. I had the Salmon and my boyfriend had Seabass, both were delicious. We then had Eton mess and lemon ale for dessert. Service was very good.
I. T.Very nice restaurant and atmosphere with super friendly and helpful staff. Food however was nothing special and quite expensive - 3 course meal for 4 people at around £140 not including drinks.
D. N.We've been here a few times now & always found the food to be top notch, not to mention the service! Such warm welcoming staff. I had the pork belly with scallops & my gf had sea bass, both of which were incredible. Love the festive Apparetivo's & cocktails too! We've come up from Gloucester today to visit the zoo for the first time in years & see some long distant relatives. A meal here again has been the icing on the cake. Thank you Botanist Team! (N.B These guys are NOT part of The Botanist chain)
X. X.The atmosphere was very relaxing. The service was excellent, making you feel extremely welcome. The drinks were quite refreshing, and the food was delicious and served at the right temperature. The Eton Mess was outstanding! If you do not have any issues with alcohol, I suggest you try it!
What draw my attention the most was the clean environment: the toilets were literally shining!

Y. A. n. A.Love the general ambiance of the champagne room, and the service was excellent. Our host and hostess were both brilliant and the gentleman at the bar was amazing and attentive.
The food was lovely and surplus, we had to take some home from the fork buffet.
Some more options on the menu would be ideal as we originally wanted the 10 option menu but there were only 9 options in total so we opted for the 8 option fork buffet but we enjoyed it very much.
A. G.Our party of three old bats had a really nice lunch here today! The service was genuinely second to none - we felt very welcome from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Our server Gavin was exceptionally charming, personable and helpful, and our drinks and food were served promptly by a very pleasant young man with a beard, name not taken, but also charming! The food was excellent, really top notch, and we would come here again at any time, and recommend it. I also thought the overall cost was very reasonable for our two course meal. My friends had visited before, but this was my first visit and certainly won't be my last.

N.The Rotisserie chicken with BBQ sauce and gravy was brilliant. Fries a bit over cooked, but the gravy masked that! Will come again.

H.Nice service, great decor and good atmosphere, but the vegan menu we found quite lacklustre. The food was all very safe, the nourish bowl main we found quite uninspiring and very little flavour development. It was just a large bowl of peeled vegetables with a nice dressing, not worth £11 +. The flaffels and hummus starters were excellent, but I wouldn't be able to recommend the place to any strictly vegan friends, considering the range on offer in Bristol. 3* is perhaps a tad harsh but considering this place isn't cheap, just expected a bit more and felt our food was quite dumbed down compared to others around us.
S. H.It's a lovely space but for a Saturday afternoon I felt the music could be turned down a couple of notches. We had to shout to each other to be heard and there were people having coffee so slightly more ambient atmosphere would have worked better.

The food and service was excellent as always and nothing is too much trouble even after a very long and busy shift for all the staff . I can’t recommend The Botanist enough . P. D.This is my second visit after lockdown restrictions have lightened, I regularly stay in clifton whilst working in Bristol, this is an absolute gem whether it's dining or just drinks.
Covered and heated Al fresco dining or regular restaurant options...
Draft beers are plenty, the menu is varied and a good price, the calamari starter is a must.
Also from what I've experienced so far the staff have been nothing but accommodating, 'The Botanist' @ Berkeley Square will for sure become a regular venue for me whilst staying in Bristol

M. C.Went for our annual family Christmas meet up as we all live in different parts of the country. The cocktails were really good and well priced. The staff were really accommodating, attentive and friendly making sure we always had drinks and checking on us.
The three course Christmas Dinner was well presented and really tasty. I'd highly recommend the Brie starter. The portion size is more than enough andnthe vegetables were cooked to perfection (even the sprouts). The crumble and brownie were well above average and all courses came in quick succession.
Lovely decor & ambiance and very clean throughout.
All in all it really made our Christmas gathering special.
P.S. thanks for the Beavertown pint glass, I told you I'd leave a review for it 😉🤣

Honestly one of the tastiest Christmas meals I’ve had, and my colleagues agreed. Veg cooked to perfection, a little pot of gravy on the side and moist turkey! It’s normally so dry at these meals! The crackers were brilliant, a little wooden toy for the Christmas tree as opposed to a rubbish plastic toy or gadget that you never use. Peroni (draft and non alcoholic) was delicious, cold and crisp as it should be. Great location with nearby parking and felt very festive. Thanks to all the staff for their hard work.

Event planning was made simple with Gavin and Liz, and great hosting by the Botanist on the day with regular check-ins to ensure enough drinks and that the guests were happy. N. B.First time we went during the day. It was lovely in general. One of the staffs was super grumpy and didn't look like she wanted to work at that moment. We sat inside by the bar area as the windows were open for the nice weather we could here very loud noise from big party group who sat outside for the whole time so we had to speak loudly to each other. The bar man was very helpful with my non-alcoholic drinks.

They've recently spent a fair amount on an upgrade of the outdoor seating area, and the tasteful decor and plants really add to the luxury/cool ambience. LOVE the lighting and funky wallpaper!

A. R.We had a lovely dinner at this restaurant. I had the seared scallops. I love this dish so much that I ordered it as a main course from their small plates (requested 2 dishes into 1 -see picture). Turned out that the small plate would have been enough! Delicious although a tat bit too much black pepper on top of the dish for my taste but that is my fault for not having asked beforehand for a dish without black pepper. My husband had the filet of beef that was superb (see picture). You can tell and taste that their ingredients are of a premium quality. We both had ice creams as desserts. They were equally as good and much welcomed as it was a very hot day (27C). A few more info if you are planning to go there which we highly recommend: you can choose to sit outside on their lovely patio or inside the restaurant. You can choose a regular table or one with high chairs (both inside and outside) so think about letting them know your preferences upon booking. We were seated in a lovely corner inside the restaurant where you have 2 big round tables that can easily and comfortably sit 4 to 6 people. Suggestion to the restaurant: although all windows/doors were open (which was nice), it would have been nice to have air conditioning on that particularly hot evening (if there is any at all). The service was very good and attentive. It is a busy place, obviously well-known in town so book several weeks ahead of time and enjoy!

The waitress tipped some of my friend's meal on to my plate and on to the table. We were left to clean up, but she did agree to my suggestion of replacing the salad, which had been the biggest casualty. I found the staff unhelpful and unfriendly.

S. B.3rd December 2015 a group of 30 of us attended the Botanist for our Christmas Party. It was fantastic. They catered for the group so well; the food was hot; the steaks cooked perfectly; cleared our plates promptly.
When it came for us to vacate the table they had reserved tables in the bar area for us to continue our evening and were very helpful and friendly.
The bar staff were excellent as well, recommending cocktails, offering to make tailor-made cocktails for our specific tastes.
I could not recommend the botanist enough. I will definitely be dining there again and will visit for more drinks.

It's good in the sun - the light in the main building is brilliant due to the glass roof, and the beer garden is a lovely place to have a few drinks and read the paper. Bristol is rightly proud of the amount places that serve good quality Sunday roasts but I want to say that The Botanist is probably the city's best kept secret. Airy Yorkshire Puddings, melt in the mouth beef and a good vegetarian roast that doesn't contain mushrooms.
The serving staff were really attentive and the service was fast. It was also nice to have an area away from large groups where couples could dine.

The vegan food was lovely and well presented, but I was very disappointed that I couldn't take advantage of the special offer on either 2 or 3 courses as could my friend who wasn't eating vegan. There is a separate vegan menu which I find strange, it felt as if I was being treated differently and not being included.
N. P.The Botanist is a perfectly reasonable pub in Clifton, which I visited for Saturday lunch. Food was nice, although as part of the Mitchell & Butler family, identical to a couple of other pubs I've eaten in around Bristol.
While not really doing anything wrong, I think the Botanist struggles a bit compared with the excellent Bristol food scene. There's simply better places available nearby for food, drinks and atmosphere. Fine for a quick bite, but no somewhere I'd set out to specifically try.
C. S.Perhaps a hard judgement. The place was about to close for refurbishment for a month but my wife's first 4 choices were not available and the reason was not explained. Carl sorted out the problem and the meals we had were very good. Will try again next time in Bristol

L. J.I booked the Botanist for a business networking / social event on Wednesday 11th April. We invited 150 guests, most of whom showed up on the night. I can safely say that we as an organisation were so impressed, and many of our guests commented on what a brilliant night they'd had. The staff are friendly and attentive, and very accommodating with some of my random requests. The canapés and buffet food was brought out on time and tasted delicious, and the venue itself is light, spacious and really good fun.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a private function space in the city centre.

Zoe greeted us on arrival & served us throughout the evening, she worked incredibly hard serving us mainly on her own, but nothing was too much trouble.

C.Long wait for food but what was served was tasty. There was options for either salad or carbs whereas we all would have preferred a choice with a smaller portion of both with our meals. This seems a current trend in restaurants. The cost were therefore more as we needed to add either veg or carbs to the meal choice. Non-alcoholic drinks were great. Rather rare to have such a good choice.
