Reviews of Lock Keeper

A stop off for a bite to eat ,and the pub didn't disappoint.
Really tasty food by a beautiful canal.
I had the mussels absolutely delicious 😋. Good range of beers and ales may struggle if a veggie.
H. H.
Stopped off here for an impromptu dinner whilst crewing for an ultra run along the canal. As always I was worried about if there would be a vegan option as I hadn’t been able to look at the menu in advance. Fortunately there was more than one option! (Rare for a pub I find) This salad was delicious and really filling, I have never thought to put blueberries and hazelnuts in a salad but it worked beautifully and I will be doing this at home. The kale was lovely too. Despite it being very busy our food arrived in good time and it was pleasant to sit outside.

It's has so much going for it...a great garden..wonderful location great facilities but on the whole its disappointing...it let's its self down by disorganised service, 4 people behind the bar and customers queue. Condiments not available.. dogs barking in the restaurant through out our visit...its a shame they could do so much better with just a little care and attention.
R. G.
Lovely garden for lunch...right by the river and cycle paths. Very generous portions and excellent sausage roll!
M. B.
I love this place so much ❤️. the staff are the loveliest specially the italian guy hes super friendly. Food is top top, we tend to go for sunday roast my last visit was a week ago. I even ordered dessert. To be honest is one of the best roast i had so far, the food is just lush and they have estrella dam which reminds me of home.
Also for all the people moaning i’ve booked and walked in and the staff has ALWAYS make me feel welcome. So dont leave fake reviews if they have the capacity to accommodate you they will.
V. B.
Fantastic food, atmosphere and service; the staff couldn’t do enough for our large party. A massive thank you to all the staff who worked last night - you made the birthday really special. Top quality food, quality service and a quality atmosphere. Amazing- well done.
D. T.
A lovely pub in Keynsham, near the river with great views. We sat outside in the garden, it was packed but we managed to find a table. I can certainly recommend it. They have an outside bar so all very easy. It looked like most people there were having food and to be honest it looked really good. Definitely worth a look in if you're passing or even worth a detour.
D. P.
This is a lovely pub, great food, great atmosphere, and have always had great service, plus side for me is it's dog friendly, highly recommend for a nice dinner or a few drinks.
T. S.
Always a decent welcome from the team who work there and it does help that they have some nice cider on tap 🙂👍
My wife and I only popped in for a drink but was disappointed that we were unable to stay for food as the menu looked really nice.
The place was very busy, which isn't a surprise as the locality is good and the car park is reasonbly ample for visiting pub goers.
It's good to get there early as you could find it hard to get a seat due to it's popularity and decent food, with decent prices to match.
We sat inside the conservatory as it was exceptionally busy outside but it wasn't too hot(inside), even though it was a hot day.
We'll be making a return trip soon as it's a nice place to go and the atmosphere was definitely a good one
J. M.
Lovely place, nice location, helpful staff, drink selection reasonable. The food menu quite limited and overpriced but saying that it was still quite enjoyable apart from dogs been allowed in the indoor eating area .. would've walked out but we were in company of others. Beware the conservatory can be very noisy at busy times.

Spent a couple of hours here celebrating my wifes birthday recently. The location, car parking were all very good, the weather tried it's hardest to disrupt the event but failed miserably. Our meals were all very good washed down with a good selection of ales and wines. A special mention must go to the manager who was a very understanding and generous host. We will certainly look forward to returning in the not too distant future.
G. S.
After a productive afternoon of picking pumpkins, we decided to pop to this pub for some grub. We've never been, but we'll certainly be coming back! Great food and STELLAR service from the lady behind the bar and the gentleman called Luke. Wrapped up the day out for us beautifully. Thank you guys! Keep up the amazing work!
D. B.
Beautiful setting even in freezing weather good job for outside heaters and blankets provided. Food was really nice even though this was the 3rd pub that I've eating ox cheek croquettes and nobody can get them right. A croquette is an elongated cylinder not fishcake shaped. And it's deep fried to hold the potatoe shape. Not pan fried
M. O.
We had a lovely and cosy lunch this Sunday. The food was so good and hearty, really enjoyed their chicken roast and burger. Great service, wonderful ambience, and really great service. I felt like I was in an English Christmas movie. 🥰
H. P.
Great location, service, and drinks. Food a little underwhelming. Perhaps a little too ambitious. Neither my burger nor my chips had anywhere near enough salt - I don't understand why it's so hard to season food. Anyway, it wasn't terrible. The ham hock terrine was a highlight.
R. (. S.
That's the first time I have been in a few years and was quite impressed. The food was decent, the service was friendly and the Proper Job lived up to its name. That garden was quiet despite the place being fairly busy.
D. K.
Went here for a meal with parents. Had a great time. Service was great, huge outdoor area with plenty of seating and shade. Beer was great and good selection of gin and tonics. Food was ok, i had the special BBQ pork loin which was a little disappointing but the rest of the group really enjoyed their mains. Deserts could of been better which is why I dropped a star. Brownie was dusty and dry and the cheescake/bannofi pie were underwhelming. Would definitely go again again but skip deserts in favour of another drink or a starter.
J. W.
Love it here. Especially on a sunny day. LOADS of seating. Been coming for a while for drinks only but it was only yesterday that my partner and I come for our first meal together. Prices aren't too expensive. Friendly staff. Just beware of limited parking but they have an overflow carpark. And if you come for a meal, I recommend pre booking as limited terrace seats but loads of benches on the grass at a lower level.
Kitchen serves till 8.30 and 8 on a sunday. We both went for ham, egg and chips. The salad dressing was amazing. We have actually decided to come down again for dinner this evening too. Was amazing again.
* My partner is gluten free and they do a nice GF menu. *

Always a lovely place to be. Xmas dinner was just lovely and not the usual pub Xmas lunch that is often put out for ridiculous amounts of money. Well done to all the staff too
C. H.
Found us room on a busy booked up night. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious and prompt !! Highly recommend 👌
M.
lovely pub with a good selection of cider, fantastic dog friendly beer garden with beautiful views of the river, if the weathers nice it does get busy so be prepared when visiting
M.
Great riverside pub that is also situated next to the canal. The pub itself is clean and there is ample seating inside and out. The toliets were clean and tidy offering soap and moisturiser. They have separate gender toilets, a baby changing area and a disabled toilet (that requires a radar key). There is a decent amount of staff but some are young and still learning the ropes of customer service. This is a great pub with a cross of an old and modern feel. Some of the seating outside has large umbrella cover with heating and the pub is dog friendly. The food is decent but could be presented better for the price, and not that I mind collecting my own cutlery that is located in a box near the bar but I do have the concerns about the hygiene of who else's hands have been diving through it. For the standard of this pub it would be great if they could offer full table service or pre-prepare the cutlery in serviettes. The beer garden is large and can get busy on a sunny day and although the carpark is also a decent size, it can get full quick and some individuals park inconsiderate for others. Although this isn't any fault of the staff it can be an issue.
J. D.
Really tasty food and the staff are super friendly. Dogs allowed if eating outside/ on the decking or in the pub. The chicken chorizo and spiced beans dish was amazing!
A. M.
Good value for money, friendly staff, nice pub food etc. Lovely garden next to the river and a great stop off if you're traveling along the Avon and Kennett canal.
C. S.
Lovely pub and very accommodating! I had a dire urge for a burger en-route home recently. They made it for me quickly and fashioned a takeaway container. The food was high quality and exactly what I was craving. I've eaten in at the pub as well, and always had a good experience and great food.
A. “. H.
In a great spot with loads of outdoor seating. Very casual tasty menu. Plenty of drink choice.
This is a great option for dog owners, and really popular when we visited.
The outdoor area sits on the water front too.
They also offer a gluten free menu too.
P. W.
Great food, lovely staff, pleasant environment..
S. L.
Lovely Sunday roast here with my family. Food and presentation was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful especially to children and dogs, making the experience very comfortable. Lovely outdoor area if weather is good and nice river walk
C. S.
I stumbled across this place by chance on a drive around outskirts of Bristol. What a great find!! Superb location, by a river and a canal marina. Outside space is fantastic with a large well kept beer garden with a raised decking area ajoining the pub.
Access the building via the decking and you are in a glass roof conservatory which houses one of 2 well stocked bars.
Staff are professional, friendly and quick.. On a sunny day the beer garden and deck fills up quick.
Although I wasn't eating, the food seemed reasonably quick and gave off good aromas.
Looked like the other side of the interior was a cosy bar that is the place to be from Oct-March.
Well worth a visit if your in the area.
A. T.
Had a lovely afternoon. A really nice atmosphere. Great customer service. Wait times were short. Food was lovely.
N. T.
Great pub, friendly staff, good food and a good selection of beers and ales.
A. D.
Good pub great location, took a walk from Swineford to the lock keeper. Didn't eat but food looked great.
I would have scored a 5 but everybody was in lined up one after another.
no need it's a pub.
Just my per hate.
A. P.
Love this place especially in summer and sitting out in gardens, friendly helpful staff 😀👍food very nice. Very clean. Must visit
m. S.
Good meals and a lovely conservatory and pleasant outdoor seating, the weather was good and very popular no waitress ordering service when ordering. Order at the bar instead, staff were pleasant.
D. H.
Absolutely lovely pub. The regulars from the marina are so friendly and such a good laugh. Not yet had a meal but the food does look good. Definitely one of my favourite places to have a drink and a laugh with friends
J. E.
What a lovely place to come after work for a relaxed dinner. Food is outstanding. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Thank you
A. G.
Good beer and reasonable staff. The location is great.
I did considered eating here but not at those prices.
C. C.
Really fantastic pub. Some really nice beers on tap as well as bottled, as well as a really wide selection of wine. The pub has a nicely decorated inside, with a nice atmosphere too. The best bit is the outside, you can sit right near the river and watch it flow, and have a great meal out there. It is a really brilliant place. The only thing that could make it just that bit better, is having more vegetarian options than a nut loaf or salad. My fiancé's burger was apparently amazing and the salad was delicious. We loved it and will be returning again!
R. T.
Came for a paddle board one evening and stayed for dinner, Very pleasantly surprised. Great food and truly excellent service. Lovely pub.
H. L.
Really helpful and friendly staff who made us feel welcome and comfortable. We brought a dog and a baby and were well looked after. It's useful to be able to put your credit card behind the bar and run a tab here. Menu was varied and everything well presented. I always order the chips as they are fab and good sized portion. Lovely location near the weir. Good places nearby to walk the dog. Parking can be a problem on busy days as this is a popular place!
D. M.
Great range of ales. Food is reasonably priced and fantastic tasting. Staff excellent and friendly. Location is amazing.
R. M.
Perfect location for a walk and a lovely place to stop for a note to eat. The beetroot humous was absolutely delicious! The other food was nice enough too
R. H.
I put my fancy £6 beer down on a slightly Wonky bit of a picnic table without paying attention and spilt half my pint (due to the wonkeyness)…The barman (Tony) was nearby and I thought it might be worth a go…sure enuf, without hesitating: brand new pint. Can’t recall being replenished with a pint cos I couldnt hold it before. Top stuff
P. B.
Nice pub by the river. You can canoe to it from upstream and stop at the locks. At night they also offer blankets when sitting outside.
R. L.
Quiet and friendly place for an evening drink. We didn't eat here but the look and smell of the food means we will be back.
K. H.
Always a great choice of ales. Food is very good. Perhaps a little pricey but fine for a treat.
d. b.
Very nice meal, a little bit expensive but close to the river. A fair amount of road noise if sat out on the terrace.
C. L.
Great lunch menu, reasonable price for the quality on offer
K. A.
Food and service here always excellent and if you catch the garden in the sun it's lovely.
C. T.
Met some old friends for lunch, great food and very friendly, welcoming staff. Recommended *****
S. P.
No table service, main courses quite ordinary. Desserts and starters better. Garden conservatory quite warm, even at this time of year. Busy, so not a place for a quiet relaxed meal out... Better for a large group or families, I guess..
K. T.
Nipped in for a coffee and a snack whilst walking the dog. Used the app to order too table, and was impressed when a few minutes later it turned up. So five stars for this and the service the young staff gave.
N. (.
Amazing location, prebook! We went for a Sunday roast but was really disappointed. The roast potatoes weren’t crispy at all ( more like boiled potatoes) and the pork belly wasn’t slow cooked so no crackling on top and very fatty. Wouldn’t have a roast here again but would grab a drink by the river. Table service is very fast as you order through the app ( our roasts came within 10 minutes of placing our order).
S. S.
Wow what excellent service. It was a last minute call to go for lunch so we'd not booked anywhere. After trying a few other pubs and being turned away we arrived at the Lockeeper to find there where no tables available. But instead of turning us away we were met by a great guy that made us feel welcome and asked if we'd like a drink and a look at the menu's as he was sure a table would come up soon. He found us a really small table to have our drinks at while he found us a proper dining table. A very kind couple offered to swap the table they had as they weren't eating so the 3 of us could have our meal. (not only are the staff lovely, their customers are too)
There were plenty of waiting staff and they were excellent, nothing was too much trouble and service was quick. And the food was delicious. My husband and son said it was the best burgers they'd had. I had ham egg & chip which had good quality ham, lovely fresh eggs and amazing triple cooked chips. I'd highly recommend the puddings too.
Thanks Lock Keeper we'll definitely be back again (and book next time 😉)
G. E.
It's wonderful..staff are professional and super nice..food faultless..lovely ambiance..real fire..river views..Richard especially helpful..
M. I.
Great Place the Food is Amazing, the scenery is stunning prices are not too dear, have to try the Camembert Sharer and and some Halloumi wile at it 10/10.Also check Chequer Pub In Hanham which is from the same chain.
E. S.
Lovely riverside pub. Canal on one side, river Avon and mouth of the Chew on the other. Lots of parking and plenty of space outside although a bit small inside so pick your timing wisely! Really top quality food and lots of it. They keep their beer very well - the Gem is absolutely fantastic, as if you were at a beer fest. Interesting pics about the history of the pub on the walls. There's a burger shack too which smells delish but haven't got around to trying yet!
s.
Lunch at The Lock Keeper today was without exception first class. They could not have been more accommodating when we decided to eat inside when it became a little chilly in the wind on the beautiful patio area looking out over the river and garden. I cleaned my plate and mopped up the gravy with a great choice of breads and real butter , the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream is delicious .The four of us all had different meals and not one complaint among us. Great service really good food large lovely location beautiful old building large outdoor seating areas. Ticked all our boxes for a lovely 47th wedding anniversary lunch for my friends.
Thank you all at The Lock Keeper
M. C.
Absolutely amazing, they claim just stock cube in gravy..... hmmmm best gravy ever! So l have my suspicions ;)
R. W.
Good food, courteous team, reasonably priced and fine environment. It's definitely a good find. Would come again.
M. B.
Great food! Fairly priced for good quality food. Lots of outdoor seating.
Dog friendly 🐕
f. u.
Great pub friendly staff. Pleasant environment. Be prepared to pay a premium for it.
l. e.
Fantastic pub along the river, dogs welcome...awesome food very tasty...staff are welcoming and happy to help well rested afternoon.
P. G.
Great food and quick service despite being very busy . Would recommend
M. N.
Very nice pub with nine surroundings but the beers in there are very exspensive.
R. S.
Good food and friendly service. Nice amd relaxed atmosphere. Only slight comment would be that there wasn't many vegan options. Overall though was a good night.
A. K.
Had a fantastic meal there yesterday. The staff were so friendly and the service was amazing, nothing more could have been done to improve our time at The Lock Keeper. Even our dog was made so welcome, a few little treats were given to him. After our meal we sat outside of the terrace, amazing for December, blankets were available along with heaters. Couldn't recommend a visit to The Lock Keeper enough.
M. P.
Price wise for a pub right by the water side it is very reasonable. Great location to stop and have a pint after a walk along the river side. Great outdoor seating and dog friendly!
K. K.
Having just moved to the area, we thought we would try this pub. We hadn't booked and just walked in and the staff went out of their way to seat us, despite it being Saturday night and fully booked. A lovely atmosphere and the food was delicious and plentiful. The best part though, was the service, All staff were friendly and welcoming especially the manager (I believe) who served us, they couldn't do enough for us, will definitely make this our local. Lovely
V. P.
The food is high quality, but had really had a feeling of being ripped off. £15 for a burger and chips is insane, although the quality is high it’s not high enough to be worth that price, add to that the 12.5% charge on tables of 6+ and it just feels like daylight robbery. There are many places in Bristol offering the same or better quality for less money.
M. F.
Great location and lovely garden with views across the river and weir. Service was good and food was pretty much standard pub grub and a little overpriced, hence only three stars. Guess you're paying for the location.
N.
Food and location is lovely although the service was lacking for a friends birthday
D. H.
Since moving into the area we have been using this excellent pub for some time.
The food is always 5 star and the staff very friendly and provide great service.
r. a.
We've been here many times over the years and always enjoyed it.
The food is good as is the cider. Eating in the conservatory is lovely because it is light and airy.
The staff have always been friendly and efficient.
V. D.
Nice food, good service. Menu a bit limited on a Sunday but there was something for everyone. Kids portions sizes were generous and good value. Toilets need a bit of care. No lock on one cubicle, looking a little tired. Overall we had a good time.
R. R.
Beautiful building, really friendly staff, shame we don't live closer as I'd be there more often
J. C.
Lovely old pub. Nice spacious conservatory and decking area as well as a large garden. Food is not cheap but is good quality and service is good. Very popular so advise booking if wanting to eat in the evening.
L. E. C.
Pub was full and very busy so initially sat outside, staff were really lovely and put on all the outdoor heaters and brought blankets.
We managed to get a table inside before food arrived.
Had a baked camembert with was yummy and came with plenty of bread, it's a dog friendly pub and our friends had their dog with them, there was a bowl of water inside the pub which was very welcome.
The manager who served us was amazing, he wouldn't have been out of place in a fine dining restaurant !
T. L.
What a lovely food 😍😍 great pub by the river. Definitely worth going.
K. B.
Good food but expensive drink prices. Lovely terrace and garden.
A. P.
Booked a table for a family member’s birthday.
Arrived 10mins early but rather rudely asked to wait outside.
Had starters, main and dessert for 6 people so not a cheap meal.
The food was nice but as soon as we paid we were asked to leave because of other bookings even tho half the pub was empty.
Customer service definitely needs improvement.
S. E.
Lovely spot but Nothing more than the food is average and the banofee dessert was awful and probably the tiniest slice I've ever seen
J. G.
Hazelnut and lentil salad was super tasty. The outdoor dining areas and gardens here are amazing
J. S.
A beautiful meal very generous helpings. Amazing team looked after us from early drinks to eating and coffee. Thank you.
P. H.
Lots of atmosphere, helpful staff, great.
M. P.
Lovely in the garden on a sunny day. Only had a drink but the food looked lovely that was coming out.
a. a.
Good grub, lovely surroundings very friendly and helpful staff.
N. C.
One of my favourite places! stylish and upmarket, laid back, professional staff, reasonable prices, amazing food, great terrace area and large garden.
H. E.
Delicious steak however the sauce should definitely have been included in the price given that the steak was only served with some chips. It wasn't until the bill came that we noticed we were going to be charged over £2.00 each more each for a very small, rather watery portion of peppered sauce. One of our waiters was unprofessional, and didn't seem to want to be working. When he approached our table he muttered something about "thinking he would be able to remember our order"... Otherwise, a pleasant meal in a really lovely environment.
S. P.
Nice enough place with good size outdoor space and decent range of drinks.
e. v.
Nice and cosy place but menu lacks choices
P. P.
Very nice pub by the river and a weir, would love to go again.
R. M.
Lovely pub, good fresh food. Homemade cheesecake is a star dish.
L. M.
Lovely location, great garden and decked area. Food nice
M. H.
Perfectly positioned pub on the outskirts of Keynsham.
Just minutes walk from the train station and right along side the river where you can talk a nice stroll before or after visiting.
There is a lovely outdoor seating area as well as an indoor and outdoor balcony.
The food is high quality pub food and the drinks selection will cater for all your groups needs.
Be sure to book for lunch and dinner since it can get busy.
Friendly staff and free car parking.
V. M.
Excellent Sunday Roast - pricey but worth every penny
A. M.
Lovely setting, great atmosphere, friendly and attentive service and excellent food. But prices had risen considerably since my last visit. Would definitely go again though!
N. W.
Beautiful place, very clean and well presented. Had a fabulous meal, 7 of us and everyone was very happy with food, service and the place. Will he back again and can recommend.
P. B.
Can't go wrong here on a hot day. Lovely garden looking over the water. Table service via the app. Scrumptious food and the service was top notch.
K. G.
Wonderful food and service, just don't need to ask twice if food is ok
G. D.
Nice setting in winter and summer, lovely garden by the river
The conservatory is a great asset to this pub. Good variety of Food.
R. S.
Lovely location, good service, food is ok.
C. H. R.
I think this is one of the best pubs I've visited for ages. The staff are so friendly, easy to talk to and attentive. The food was lovely and there is so much room out on their terrace and gardens we always felt comfortable and safe.
t. r.
Great staff brilliant food good beer
l. j.
A Absolutely lovely setting with very helpful and friendly staff, only went for a few drinks but would definitely revisit for food. The atmosphere was chilled and inviting. Gave 4 stars since I wasn’t able to try the food but from what I saw I will be back to adjust my review to 5 stars soon. A must go place
c. w.
Good food although a tadge expensive. great location lovely pub.
C. C.
We had such a great experience here, the manager was running an excellent service on an extremely hot and busy Sunday lunch. We noticed how amazing the manager was at his job, he made sure each table was comfortable and got involved with all the different tasks needing to be done. The food and setting was lovely and we would highly recommend it. Thank you all :)
A. B.
I really enjoyed my time at the Lock Keeper. The staff were attentive, kind and caring, the food was lovely and the sun was shining. Our waiter was perfect, friendly, efficient and informative and not pushy. He was great. Just a shame one table and one lady in particular was moaning about the check in process. The time and effort they had put into keeping everyone safe was apparent and well done. Such a shame some people didn’t understand the work involved and responsibility. Look forward to seeing you again soon.
M. M.
Definitely one of my favourite places. I was always telling my wife how awesome food is there (went there few times for lunch before pandemic), but only recently we went there together. It is still the same great place! We had a lovely place by the river, beer was cold and food was, as expected, absolutely amazing (the burger)!
I can recommend cycling there. There are bike stands, however, should you decide to follow the trail by the Avon River, be ready to lift bikes several times over the pedestrian gates. It definitely ticked my workout plan!
T. H.
Good food and drink, nice garden. Like anywhere good in in Keynsham though, it's usually packed. Car park is always full but you can tell the owners have tried their best to make space
e. s.
We booked this morning for Sunday lunch. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The food was exceptional. We thought the entire experience was flawless. Thanks everyone for making such a challenging time such a happy experience
K. T.
Very well organised for Covid-19 restrictions and the food was delicious!
I. F.
Good Service and Food at reasonable prices
K. S.
Me and my boyfriend went to this establishment on the 17th of may and our food was beautifully prepared and tasted amazing. The staff were working so hard and they were so genuine and friendly. I really enjoyed the strawberry cheesecake. Will definitely come back and couldnt give enough stars.
V. H.
Exceptionally welcoming and great customer service. We booked outside as fully booked. They brought us cushions, blankets and kept the heaters pumping for us. Exquisite food
A. D.
Lovely place well organised and lovely staff, it was very clean and the food looked amazing although we just had a few drinks. It's a lot nicer inside and around the back of the pub on the decking as the front doesn't give the best impressions
N. F.
Had a lovely time at this pub. Food was fantastic’ my husband had the steak which was cooked perfectly and I can highly recommend their roast meal, was delicious. This pub has an amazing atmosphere, perfect for enjoying the extensive wine list. The staff at this pub were the best, happy to help with anything and so friendly. We will certainly be coming back.
A. M.
Nice garden but roast was far from great
A. B.
Always have a great time here, food is good, and dogs are very much welcome! Great if you want a day in the sun!
A. S.
Walked from Bristol to Bath with a lunch break at the Lock Keeper.
Beautiful old pub with a lovely garden area by the river Avon. Small but good selection of cider and ales.
Service was excellent and the food was fantastic - had one of the best sticky toffee puds too.
H. M.
Visited during Covid restrictions, so it was outside dining only. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely food. Not a huge choice of food. We were on the decking, so there were steps up. Table umbrellas protected against a drizzle.
K. M.
Came here for a father's day treat. We were looked after by Sophie, Josh and Tony. Brilliant service- very attentive, gorgeous food and atmosphere. I will definitely be coming back!
D. H.
Lovely quality food and a great atmosphere at this old pub. Large outdoor seating area so very safe in the Covid period. Currently seated service and all expected safety measures in place, and worth a visit any day of the year.
C. S.
Only visited the outside shack/bar in the pub garden but it was lovely! Its tucked away in a peaceful location near a stream and there are covers right outside the shack so we were protected from the rain when we went. Quick and friendly service. Had a great time.
P. L.
Had a meal with the family to celebrate the wife's fiftieth birthday.
Great food, very polite, very helpful staff and a lovely setting by the river.
Great place to go.
W.
Great little place to go on a sunny afternoon lovely views of the local boats nice little sun trap
E.
I would really like to give this place 5 stars.
The main attraction of course is the location. The building itself is lovely, very clean, and there’s a fair selection of beers.
The let-down however is a lack of diversity in the menu (not a single vegan option, in 2019) and, unfortunately typical of a Young’s pub, drinks are expensive beyond reason.
Praise is due to the young team for holding it down on hot and busy summer days. Hopefully they are appreciated.
R. B.
Lovely Sunday lunch good fast service polite staff as well, bit tight on the veg I thought with just a pinch of cabbage,
s. b.
Great outdoor eating, friendly staff.
r.
It's a pub with a large beer garden for drinks in the sun it's idea but the microwaved food is over priced and not worth the long wait.......
P. S.
Friendly service....delicious meal in the garden in the sunshine
J. S.
Great find. Was looking for a decent country pub outside of Bristol and came up trumps. Excellent waiting staff, super speedy food delivery despite the place being full to the max and a good atmosphere as well. Loads of outdoor space by the river which looks like it would be especially great in the summer. Had roast chicken which included probably the best stuffing in Christendom.
I. H.
Food was excellent . Staff professional.
A. W.
Great location, especially on a nicr sunny day. Good selection of beer and drinks, plus delicious food
p. s.
This is a great place along the side of the river with a large garden popular in hot or dry warm weather
n. w.
We always enjoy our times here, food is high quality and filling. We have also been very impressed with them over the various lockdowns and social limitations with it being one of the few places my wife was comfortable going too (we were a shielding household)
B. A.
Clean, friendly professional staff, quick service, tasty food of sensible sizes and wonderful desserts.
Edited: In my initial review I said I was slightly disappointed in the size of the salad with my gorgeous goat's cheese tart but the response below explains my mistake so I have given it 5 stars as everything was lovely. Also impressed that reviews are seen and dealt with politely and quickly!
We'll be recommending and returning :-)
k. w.
Had a lovely meal here for my birthday! Staff were fab and friendly and catered for the children given them mash which wasnt on the menu for kids.
Tried a lovely orange gin was delicious.
Food couldn't of been any nicer and look forward to coming back
I. V.
Epic setting right by the canal. Nice cool breeze on a hot day. Don't sit too close to the canal unless you like mosquitoes in your pint. Classic pub grub. Nice service.
I. S.
Good place to meet people outdoors. Lots of tables next to the river and canal. The food is good and the drinks and food ordering is prompt and accurate via the Youngs phone app. The staff are all great, friendly and helpful.
A. B.
Suburb food and drink excellent service and staff
j. n.
Lovely meal for 7 of us. Nicely presented very tasty and hot.
A. H.
Surprised at how busy the place was on a midweek lunchtime, but no problem with getting a table. Everybody involved in service was friendly, polite, attentive and efficient, and the food they swiftly brought to our table was freshly cooked, hot and flavoursome. When we had finished our lunch the atmosphere was so congenial that we were happy to sit and chat, with no pressure to leave. All in all, a delightful lunchtime experience!
L.
Great food at lunchtime today. Reception staff not as friendly, when trying to find a suitable place to sit with a young dog. This won’t put us off going back, just a shame it was a bit awkward.
J. L.
We rang and tried to book a table a few days in advance, but you can't. We were guaranteed there would be a table at the time/day we wanted. So when we turned up wanting a table for 6, it was frustrating that there was a 20 minute wait.
In the end we stayed in the bar area for our meal. Food was fabulous and nice size portions. Service was varied based on who came to the table. Some were friendlier/more polite than others.
Atmosphere was a little animated but not that bad considering it was a Saturday night. It may have been quieter further away from the bar area. Overall, a good meal out. If service had matched the food, 5 stars would've been awarded.
D. F.
A good selection of pub classics to a restaurant quality. I had a juicy venison and fig burger with triple cooked chips from the specials board. The staff were friendly and not pushy, which I prefer. Would like to try the Sunday roast sometime.
C. M.
Good menu and not badly priced. Beer from Young's with guests from St Austell when we visited. Seating outside, in the modern conservatory, or in the old part of the pub.
March 2022. Still a pleasant environment. Three cask ales on (Bath Gem, Proper Job, and Young's London ale) and not badly priced.
V. B.
Friendly staff & nice food.
(Apart from the totally incomprehensible & fatty but tasteless grated cheddar & mayonnaise on toast, which I couldn’t eat, but wasn’t waved off the bill; to be removed off the menu in my opinion)
N. T.
Lovely atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. Excellent food. Highly recommended!
G. A. P.
Absolutely fabulous..staff so lovely ..quick service . Food was fantastic. HUBBY had sausages with e onions ..me Bubble & squeak with fantastic duck egg ..Lovely open space onto canel .. truly could not fault ..apparently Breakfast is super fantastic..we will certainly be back ..was a bleak rainy day ..weather wise. However always good to walk the canel path ..so obliging I asked for a coffee 'takeaway..delicious coffee ...super pub super service x
M. E.
An excellent place to eat. The menu has range enough for everyone. Service was very prompt and the food was delicious.
First rate.
J. G.
We booked a table on the decking. Good pub food and good service. A favourite.. we will go again. The Young's app is great for booking a table..and food/drink etc
S. C.
Very nice place,a good sized garden and car park, can't comment on food as I didn't eat here, nice views of the river along side it,does get extremely busy when the weather is nice.
A. S.
Lovely pub by the marina. Great outdoors space with a beautiful garden by the river. Good food and drinks. Friendly staff. Not cheap, but good value for the overall experience.
E. x.
Lovely meal. Great service.
After so long having not visited a pub due to Covid, this was a real treat and we will be back soon for sure 👌
A. M.
We live nearby and were looking for a pub reasonably close to home. First visit we were incredibly impressed with an excellent Sunday lunch and fabulous service. The food was second to none and we thought we had cracked the local pub problem. Popped in a couple of times for a quick beer and all was great. The next dining experience however was spoiled by poor service. That said the food was again excellent but we did not feel so well looked after. We will not let that put us off too much and will be going back but maybe not quite as often as we first thought.
T. S.
Nice atmosphere great food. Attentive and friendly staff. Definitely recommend to everyone and will definitely going back again
A. S.
Lovely homely food - really cosy pub with super welcoming and lovely staff. Dog friendly and quick service!
P. B.
Five of us dropped in for coffee, received a good welcome on entry and goodbye when leaving. Don't get that everywhere.
Good range of coffees here served quickly to our table, unfortunately no cakes or savouries to enjoy.
Good pub menu though.
Liked the outside raisd decking area, must do well in the summer
This place is by the Avon river and also has a garden.
Give it try.
P. W.
Great location to start a family walk, recommend getting there early for Sunday lunch as you can't book, it's first come first serve and fills up quickly. Food was good, I had the pork roast and crackling was lovely and a good quantity of meat, service was good too. Save space for the desserts though as they were great 😍
S. A.
Only has two highchairs so risky if you have small kids
K. J.
I had a lovely experience at this pub. I went as part of a big group and all the staff were superb especially the server Matt. He made us feel very welcome and ensured we had a great visit. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and fantastic place to eat.
C. K.
This pub is a great all rounder, very popular in the summer and warming in the winter! Lovely location on the river. Food is well above average, food and drink both well priced! During the summer months the burger hut in the beer garden is a great addition to the pub.
S. T.
A restricted menu & seating in the garden only but we had a great time in a very safe environment. I can recommend the salmon fishcakes together with the New Zealand sauvignon blanc. Also the Aperol Spritz makes a good starter!
M. S.
Fantastic pub next to the river with great food. Lots of outside seating
T. D.
Called in with no booking. Staff bent over backwards to help. Ordered a drink table was found and ready for us. We 100% recommend the Shin of beef. So very tasty and tender. There Steak are a great treat also. The staff cannot do enough for you. Service service with a smile.we will be back. Mr and Mrs Taz Davis.
N. C.
Very nice freshly cooked food. Great selection of drinks. Not cheap but you get what you pay for and this is great!
K. W.
Food very good, lovely staff. Only upset they had run out of roasts however we did go at 6pm on a sunday, learnt lesson when booking next time!
J.
Good place for drinks and food. Quite expensive maybe
S. W.
Went here for a work lunch and really enjoyed the place, a nice setting and great building which includes a nice conservatory and plenty of outdoor seating. The menu is wide ranging from burgers and steaks through to specials such as venison burgers, ribs and salmon. The portions are a good size and staff are helpful and friendly. Worth checking out.
J. G.
Lovely staff, a great atmosphere, a warm welcome for everyone can be had here including the one extended to our four legged friends within the bar area. This pub is in a great location right next to the canal. Fabulous big beer garden to rear and parking. Love it.
A. M.
Great pub just outside Keynsham, went for a big family meal and all the food was delicious.
A great spot for a pre/post walk too along the river
M. P.
Good food, good varied menu and ample portions, pleasant staff, friendly atmosphere. Nice outlook although dark when we went, imagine it lovely outside in the better weather. Lots of outside seating by the river. Will return 👍
B. P.
Welcoming pub in attractive riverside grounds. Nice terrace and glass extention. Quality food at good prices and specials board. Kitchen closes earlier at beginning of the week. Bookings aren't taken in Summer months which is a shame if you are a larger group. But would be worth checking ahead just in case.
N. S.
Is a very lovely setting g and amazi g food, is always busy which I take as a good sign for a pub
J. J.
Lovely pub and great location, nice staff and always good quality pub food. Our go to place to meet up with friends in the area.
C. T.
Yes very good. We only went for a couple of pints. Nice pleasant evening atmosphere good and beer enjoyable. Found a table easily enough and never had to wait long before being served. All of the staff seemed keen to help and willing to serve us. Toilets all clean and tidy. Yeah enjoyable evening would go back again.
b. c. (.
Service & location excellent, food was good & plentiful & the sun came out for a while 😁
N. H.
Had a friend's surprise 50th Birthday meal here. Very accommodating, allowing 50 confetti, and balloons. Very fast efficient service. All food cooked to perfection, steaks, braised beef, gammon. Very friendly staff.
A. S.
Always good service, no problem.
M. P.
Food great, good selection of drinks. No coffee available after meal. Machine closed down by 9.30pm?? Know need to wrap up by 10pm but seemed little bit like want you out now!
D. P.
Just met a friend for lunch here. Lovely friendly service and very good lunch. Great specials board and a varied set menu. Nice ambience. Yummy if a bit expensive glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Really enjoyable 2 hours. Would definitely recommend and will visit again
D. L.
Nice place to sit out in the summer. Watch out for mosquitos. Food is nice but very over priced. I think you pay more the view than the food quality. Wine is extortionate. If you don't mind paying extra for ordinary quality then you will enjoy it. £12 for ham egg and chips! Eggs weren't even organic, low quality ham was out of a packet. Disappointed. You could make it yourself for £2.
A. D.
Ab fab! Lovely welcoming service accompanied by outstandingly fresh good quality food. We really love this venue.
S. M.
Lovely gardens & lovely meal will be coming again
A. -.
Desserts were absolutely delicious! Big plus that they were homemade, something that is hard to find in other pubs!
A. W.
Great friendly staff, always good food. Highly recommended.
S. V.
Just returned from a visit. It's a Young's managed house and I haven't had a pint of Youngs since the brewery moved out of London - but it was alright. The food was good. Belly of pork with aniseed on pureed sweet potato with green beans. Hot tasty and a decent portion. The married couple who manage the place were very friendly.
J. E.
This pub is very well presented, with lovely views and gardens. Facilities in this venue are very clean and well looked after. I came here for an early evening meal ; I ordered a sun-dried tomato and smoked olive and mixed leaf salad. My meal arrived in a good time, but unfortunately there was not a single smoked olive on my plate. I mentioned this to the member of staff working behind the bar, he quickly went to the kitchen to resolve this. The bar staff returned with a bowl of olive's. I was taken back that I was served cheap standeds olive's which were swimming in a olive oil / cheaper oil mix . I felt unhappy that the person working in the kitchen would serve this and think it would pass for what I had originally ordered.when I made my polite complaint to the bar staff they were professional and extremely helpful and very apologetic . I ordered a different meal; which was really enjoyable. If I would rate these two members of staff it would be 5 stars but unfortunately the kitchen staff a 0 star. I rated this pub 3 stars because I ate my meal when my friend had almost finished hers.
A. M.
Enjoyable, attractive pub with a large beer garden
L. D.
Thank you for a great safe afternoon. My friend booked a meal for 4, couple of us vulnerable. We all felt really safe, lovely meal and superb service. Thank you Lock Keeper and thank you Lucy for organizing it.
R. B.
I really enjoyed our meal and the ale is always great. Hannah was fantastic as always, looking forward to the next visit. Sunday lunch is on the to-do list as this meal was so good!
F. C.
Lovely food
Nice people
Dog friendly
Busy
All good 😁
I just wanted to add, we hadn't booked a table but they still managed to fit us in even when they were so busy
Big thanks.
We will be back!
My birthday is in April so see you soon!
D. s.
Lovely light conservatory. Went for a birthday family meal. The roast beef dinner was advertised as local quality meat but reminded me of the roast beef we had for school dinners. Almost boiled and tasteless. The vegetables were very sparse for the price and were practically raw and so were the roast potatoes. Shame as it did look lovely. The burgers and fish and chips and gammon all were perfect and really lovely meals which everyone enjoyed. Would go back but maybe try something other than a roast
R. M.
Great atmosphere and fantastic food with great service, really friendly staff who will always try to accommodate, been coming here for as long as I can remember and we have always been made to feel welcome, definitely get the panna cotta and the decking is really nice place to spend a summer evening, it can get a little busy so booking would be a good idea.
M. C.
Amazing staff, so friendly, especially Tony was very attentive. Food was great, fresh and fast. Will be here more often.!
Grazie Tony🤌
E. F.
Always excellent 👌 our favourite birthday treat restaurant, good food great atmosphere 👍🙏👏
C. H.
Great pub. Food is usually pretty good with a wide range on the menu. Drink selection on beers could be better. Would like to see Brewdog on draught here. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Outdoor seating on a hot day is the best place to be by the river. Highly recommend!
R. B.
Waited a long time for menus had to ask in the end, menu choice and lay out was not great, food was really just average, great setting and great outdoor space but food was just ok unfortunately
M. H.
Food not as good as hoped for the price for a Sunday lunch. Veg was nearly raw and potatoes rock hard. Meat good. Was very busy, was not told you had to order at the bar, so a bit a waiting till we asked another customer. Disappointed as had been looking forward to going there.
M. P. (. a.
Popular comfortable pub with reasonable value food. Atmosphere, setting by the river, staff and food and drink selection all above average and you can sit in the old original building, modern extension or in the nice beer garden. Has it all really including a fair sized parking area which has a narrow access so take it steady when visiting, because it is worth a visit.
C. A.
Wonderful place. Delicious food. Staff were amazing! Especially loved the few New Zealanders that worked there - made me feel at home. Will definitely be back!
O. L.
Really nice pub, really great food.
I had the chicken and leek pie, two of my friends had lasagna, and another had a falafel type dish.
All top drawer.
Pretty standard selection of drinks nothing brilliant.
J. S.
Sadly the chicken was so over cooked I needed a steak knife to cut it and the chocolate brownie was so undercooked it was gritty because the suger had not cooked out yet!
So disappointed with my meal but I'm sure other food is lovely, the staff were also great and the atmosphere is nice, I guess they were having a bad night!?
S. D.
Fabulous tasty meals and very helpful. They were packed with many reservations but they found room for myself and partner with my gorgeous granddaughters. We popped in spontaneously as I was too tired to cook.
A. G.
lovely spot tucked away just minutes from the Keynsham station. Nice food and gorgeous desserts! Beautiful dining room and plenty of outdoor space for a nice relaxed meal or just a drink with friends. Loved it
S. S.
Lovely food good size portions. I had Venison and wine pie it was a real pie and delicious. Bath Ales not my favourite brew.
M. E.
A little bit pricey, but worth it for the location and quality. Gets very busy on sunny weekends, but can also be a wonderful place for a quiet drink mid week. Very good ales, well kept. Probably the best place for a beer In keynsham
P. H.
We went to the Lockkeeper for our Christmas meal. The service was excellent, especially from Tony who gave us our table service. The staff were very kind and made us some cocktails. There were a couple of problems with the food, but they were sorted out so quickly that it did not affect the evening. Thank you to all the staff.
G. R.
Great place before heading into Bath or Bristol. Burger shack is fantastic, plenty of outdoor space for the summer. Indoor restaurant and bar is great though its popularity in summer means it can get a little too busy.
I. F.
Nice staff, managed to get a table for six on a very busy evening, well done to the manager and staff
C. G.
Beautifully situated next to Portavon Marina and the River Avon itself, this is a great little pub. It sells a good range of well kept beers and the food attracts people from all over Bristol. Well worth a visit, especially in the sunshine when you can sit in the garden next to the river.
M. C.
Lovely Youngs pub in beautiful setting. Be quick on Sundays before the roasts run out, but generally a nice atmosphere. Currently undergoing some renovation, but doesn't detract from what is a pleasant way to spend a few hours
R. L.
Enjoyed a lunch on the terrace food was excellent but got to give praise to the staff as service was first class so efficiently run it was a pleasure to eat here
C. S.
Plenty of outdoor seating by the river in the summer. A well known foodie pub.
3 or 4 real ales at any one time, constant entries in CAMERA'S Good Beer Guide.
Child & pet friendly, well trained amicable staff.
J. S.
Lovely pub great outside area lovely food and very pleasant staff a very nice experience
J. T.
Absolutely superb. Great service and wonderful food prepared by a kitchen obviously full of imaginative professionals. Can’t fault this lovely riverside pub.
G. S.
Nice outside deck good specials board but get there early as they sell out of popular items. Nice chilli spicy but you can still taste the beef and it doesn't leave your mouth on fire.
L. L.
We enjoyed a party of 11 . Celebrating our mother's 80th birthday. Food was hot , tasted wonderful, large portion . Staff were great. They really made our visit. Defo will visit again .
Y. 4.
Always good food and Beer at the Lock Keeper. It does get very busy at times and the food prices are on the up. More a gastro pub than country boozer.
The garden is a lovely space but
If you sit outside you will find it is full of dogs and smokers.
Even the very smart patio is more often than not covered with the smog of the dreaded vape!!
Beautiful inside if you can get a table.
Try and avoid the most popular times of day as it gets very crowded
R. H.
Great pub. Nice atmosphere, very good food ( a little bit pricey but you get what you pay for in life), good service and very friendly ( also dog friendly if you have a canine) and excellent beer ( 4 real ales) although some people were drinking Fosters and Kronenbourg - there's no accounting for taste!!!!!
A. T.
First week out of lockdown and this was the first place I thought about visiting, pros - it's in a nice setting and decent choice for drinks
Cons - food... Its wasn't the best - it was pretty tastless and they ran out of food choice we wanted and I have had halloumi sticks before from here and it came with a sweet chilli dip, today it came with some kind of perionise BUT by far the worse thing about this place is the parking. We just couldn't park anywhere and I am sure not all the cars were not guests. I would also say... We were there today there were two groups of 6... Clearly they knew each other and yet were still sat next to each other.
Not a good start to post lockdown.. I will go back though as they are usually very good just a shame it wasn't today.
R. C.
The place is lovely and the staff were great, the food however was very mediocre for the price. I had the Sunday roast, the pork was bland the grave watery and the Yorkshire pudding was fairly pathetic. Also my crackling came stuffed into my mash so was soggy before it arrived on the table... I don't think I'll be going back
T. B.
Great spot, beautiful surroundings and great food. Super friendly and helpful staff. Amy did a great job in making us feel welcome and well looked after. Will definitely be coming again soon.
B. P.
Great location and staff very friendly. Food was what I’d call decent pub food, very tasty but perhaps a little overpriced for what it is.
D. W.
Service is wonderful and the food is delicious. Maybe have the chicken wings as a starter as compared to the other mains its a bit meagre to avoid disappointment.
A. H.
Great location, with gardens on the river Avon, but although the service in itself was fine, the kind of music that was played and the volume of the music chased us away. A great pity, since it was a lovely day to enjoy a pint in the garden near the river.
D. W.
Service was a bit poor and they had run out of a lot of food which, considering we had booked in advance for a birthday party for 10 people was bad planning on their part. Staff were friendly but unable to help with this problem . I have been before and had better but felt let down on this occasion.
B. C.
Delicious food , mussels especially 😋
G. H.
Bath ale, sunny evening in the garden. Good one.
J. S.
Lovely place to go drink and relax in the sun. Normally the food is on point and well priced but on this occasion it was not the best but really lovely staff and atmosphere and location.
The food is quite cheap and normally well above standard. You won't leave hungry either
T.
Great pub with some great scenery especially great in the summer. Food is also excellent. Only complaint is it's somewhat pricey but can be justified by its location.
J. H.
Beautiful beer garden. Friendly staff. Quick service. Delicious food in generous portions - will definitely be going here again!
G. S.
Had a lovely lunch and a few delicious beers

Great menu! Nice selections to choose from. Extremely good service
Cocktail's delightful !!!!
Desserts are tasty. A very nice place to dine & have a really enjoyable time.
T. A.
Lovely meal, good service. Will definitely be coming back 😁
S. W.
Enjoyed a couple of drinks, peroni under £5 what is there not to like. Beautiful location by the river, modern conservatory and outside seating for the summer. Traditional pub with good food and friendly atmosphere.
G. M.
Large tasty main courses. These we followed by average desserts, served by staff that didn't know what they were--I was given a banoffee pie and told it was cheesecake.
You pay for the food up front, so no chance/need to tip. Staff were friendly, just a bit clueless.
K. S.
Great place, gets really busy in the summer and you may have a issue finding a parking spot if you are driving here. Easy walk from train station at Keynsham or from further a field passed the old Cadbrey Chocolate factory. Top tip if the burger shack bar is open outside use that as the service is quicker!
J. H.
Loved it. The staff were very attentive and the food good and reasonably priced.
V. M.
Service not great, food soggy and microwaved, nice venue but somehow the serried ranks of outdoor tables and plethora of dogs + mediocre food and service fails to deliver.
C. M. B.
Super place to have a Sunday lunch, especially if the weather is nice and you have children, the garden is perfect. The staff are friendly and in general the service is very good, along with the food!
H. F.
Lovely food and all staff great despite busy afternoon. Service great. We will be back.
S. R.
We visited The Lock Keeper this evening for a special birthday celebration for my husband. There is nothing negative I can say about our meal. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. We will definitely visit again!
E. W.
Just visited here today and really loved it. Had a couple of drinks from the main bar and a portion of chips with pulled pork from the burger shack and sat in the beer garden. Staff all very lovely and chips very yummy. Perfect.
J. H.
Great food and drink as always, a favourite!
M. B.
Lovely pub with good service and delicious food
A. G.
Lovely Sunday roast today at the lock keeper. Amazing service from Toni.
M. B.
Nice pub serving good food. Also has a nice garden but busy during the summer. Just visited again in feb. More great service lovely food. 50mins from walking in to finishing main course and desert. great.
C. W.
Lovely Sunday roast, the food is yummy and the portions are generous. The staff are very friendly. The sticky toffee pudding is delicious.
A. H.
Lovely friendly staff. Tables in the garden were nicely spaced out. Dogs allowed. Food good. What's not to like?
M. R.
Beautiful setting, lovely conservatory , riverside pub. More like a fabulous local restaurant. Food was amazing! Good value for money. Recommended highly ❤️
C. M.
Great food, amazing service from the staff. Very warm and welcoming environment. Dog friendly!! Would recommend for all age groups.
v. H.
Really nice pub with decent menu but not the cheapest. Worst feature is the car parking. I had to get someone to move their car just so I had enough room to reverse out of a parking bay.
J. B.
Great range of quality food with tip top service. Lovely garden and a great selection of drinks, I'd definitely recommend as I had a good time.
m. h.
Excellent family oriented pub, with fine wine and dining in its conservatory or expansive garden. Situated beside the river, close by a marina, it's ideal for a day or evening out.
C. D.
Great location by the weir and on the canal. The Beer garden suffers from some road noise. Glass bar restaurant with good value food. Petanque court. Narrow boat moorings. Plenty of parking but a tight access road.
G. E.
Good food but it used to be more flavoursome before COVID and lockouts.
W. I.
Had our work Christmas meal here last night. 36 of us. Plenty of staff on hand who couldn't have done more to make our night a success (even dressing as Elves to hand out our secret santas).
Have had lots of large group meals out and it's usually a bit hit and miss on the quality front. Not a problem here, food was served hot on hot plates with none of the usual waiting around for potatoes or veg. Portion sizes were very generous and even the vegetables were cooked just right (sprouts were neither rock hard or overcooked).
This pub is 'the local' for my work colleagues and I and the quality of food and service is always good so we'd recommend.
G. M.
My son has told me about The Lock Keepers a few time so I asked if he would take myself and my 2 grandsons for Sunday lunch last Sunday, it was quite busy but did not have to wait long to be served. The meals and deserts were lovely, and the service great.I will be going again soon.Mrs G Malley.
K. K.
Excellent space, service and fair prices. Not a cheap place, but affordable and you get what you pay for. Loads of outside space, parking is OK but not always easy. River is unguarded and no play area for little ones.
S. J.
Pretty place for an evening drink. Food menu looks great so we plan to try that next time we are in the area. Nice gin too.
N. C.
Always enjoy coming to the Lock Keeper! Food is always yummy, would love to see more pudding on the plate as they're delicious! We've brought our daughter here since she was a newborn and we've always felt truly welcome as a family with young children. Our go-to place in Keynsham!
N. K.
Great location by the River Avon and can be a real draw in summer month in the beer garden, which a large and picturesque. Good service, food isn’t too far off of being some of the better pub fayre around.
J. F.
Excellent location, very good service, great ales - Gem and Young's. Will be visiting again, probably try the food.
C. B.
The best alfresco experience around. Such a beauty spot by the river with everyone chilled and enjoying the sunshine with their friends and family whilst sipping a glass of wine or another favourite beverage.....perfect.
C. T.
Great place to meet friends. Nice environment. Good value home cooked food. Ran out of a special dish but many quality alternatives
K. G.
Such an enjoyable experience, fantastic service with a great selection of food and beverages. I highly recommend visiting this place if you’re in the area, it’s worth every penny!! A+++
T. V.
Great location and choice of beverages and food, although my first choice was unavailable. Pleasant and friendly staff, with good service. Will be a very nice place to visit in the summer as plenty of outdoor space. Dog friendly too.

On a second visit a few months ago on a Sunday roast dinners disappointing meat was dry and tasted warmed up. Waitress tripped over a dog and food went on the floor. These things happen but it was the way she handled it not apology and tried to blame the owner of he dog. That's what happens when u have 5 dogs in a small ish room.

The only thing that could improve is certanly the food they serve

Great place by the river.
Just a couple of things to mention, tables in garden need to be wiped clean after plates have been collected as tables were sticky with beer, and not enough ash trays about so lots of fags ends on the lawn.
M. J.
