Reviews of The Druids Arms
J. H.
Megaliths in a pub beer garden. Need I say more? ...but also gorgeous Butcombe beer, friendly staff and characterful locals. Very special pub in a very special village. Loved it.

Best Pub in the South West.
Proper beer and cider
Nice food, well thought, not pretentious like most gastro pubs but decent wholesome tasty stuff with as much fresh homemade stuff as reasonable.
I had a house cooked mushroom and brie Wellington. Delicious
.the cider was great
But the welcome I got was just so honest, and fair, and real. This pub is what "public house" means.
Tonight, it's my home and these people are my family. I'd do anything for them. ❤️
G. M.
Friendly village pub. Great beer. Fairly basic menu, though really nice food at a reasonable price. My partner and I had a lovely evening. Also took our dog which was welcomed.
A. M.
Great friendly smile with a good mix pf locals and visitors from further afield, good selection of beers and the roasts a cracker

Lovely local pub very friendly but a long time to get served at busy weekends. Food bit pricey but looks good. Lots of info about local stone circles. Ideal spot to enjoy atmosphere and cheery drink with locals after a walk. Plenty of beer and cider to choose from. Right next to Stanton cove so very handy and we really enjoyed our visit.
G. C.
Nice little pub with great food selections !
G. S.
Lovely little pub in Stanton Drew run by Julie and her team. Sunday Roast and Speciality food nights on a Wednesday always great. Check their Facebook for updates of which it is week on week. Make sure to visit the Druid stones in the village if you make a daytime visit. 👍😋😁

A magical pub with friendly staff and amazing food. Perfect hidden gem and with such a location when visiting the famous historical stone circle of Stanton Drew and cove in the pub grounds. Can’t wait to return to this pub in future for an afternoon and evening at a true traditional English pub that sells amazing food too. 10/10

A friend and I went to see stanton drew stones. 3rd largest of the sacred stones. In a field 5 mins from the pub. 3 of the stones are in the pub garden. They say it's the bride and groom (best man?) This pub had great food, friendly staff. The community of this friendly pub put us at ease, Locals was chatting to us, a real sense of welcoming. Our day was very special. We had great food, great service and thank you to the locals for the history
j. b.
Very much a locals pub. Very friendly staff and good food. Lovely position.

What a fabulous locl pub! The friendly invite we got from regular customers as we approached before we even went inside was really lovely & continued all evening as the staff & regulars made us feel so welcome giving us tips on what else Was near by & local recommendations. The food was superb (wed steak night cooked to perfection!) & v dog friendly! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Will be returning. Laura, John & Rob the German shepherd xxx

Nice stopover in our motorhome. Very welcoming. Level parking. We loved the standing stones in the beer garden. Food was nice. We did have a spot of bother with youths banging on the van after leaving the pub but once they were gone it was lovely and peaceful.
S. P.
What a beautiful little village pub with charm and character! The food is great and the staff are always happy to help.
They have done fantastic coming out of lockdown and have definitely started thriving.
The new chef has settled in very well and I can't wait for a little change in an already great menu! For a new team I think they've done fantastic! Well done guys! I'll be seeing you soon
A. M. S.
Great pub food in a traditional village pub.... incredible Neolithic standing stones in the beer garden!!!
J. B.
Had Sunday lunch here. Ok beef very tough.
Standing stones in the garden worth seeing
R. D.
This pub is the best in the west im new to the area and have been made very welcome first class place
I. S.
The Druids Arms is a traditional pub not one of the clone pubs you see everywhere else. This evening, the darts team were playing a match in the bar. In the lounge we had a really tasty and well cooked meal - good food, friendly staff, reasonably priced.
R. H.
Food top notch good choice of beer too
H. M.
London quality pub in middle of the CountrySide. Lovely Family Vibe. Amazing quality food with huge portions. Chef was fantastic. Good range of drinks. Very Clean with good COVID precautions
A. G.
Beautiful pub with a lovely garden and great food. Hosts were very welcoming and chatty. Went with a group of 24 and we all had a great time. Definitely recommend this place for an afternoon pub lunch!
R. L.
This is a charming find. We are staying nearby and had not visited this pub before. Initial reaction....Great staff, very friendly, excellent food and reasonably priced. In our short stay we have visited twice and have booked again. Well worth diverting off your route to find out this gem.
E. P.
Friendly hosts, nice food but a little restricted on choice
P. N.
Amazing pub, the vibe is so cozy and nice would definitely recommend.
C. N.
Great little druid stones stop, history and a nice pub next door
D. L.
Lovely Staff, they were very friendly, and helpful. We got there too late to eat, but Pub is beautiful. Will come again.
P. C.
Great pub- good food selection
A. W.
It's a great pub with friendly staff and a real open fire and good beer
l. p.
Cosy pub with a nice relaxing feeling , food is top nosh and coffee is great , there is seating out the front of the pub or there is a garden out the back with seating and some large beautiful trees and some large stones ,set a stunning location right next door to a wonderful stone circle.
N. W.
This is a great local pub. A very warm welcome and superb, huge Sunday roasts. And they have ancient stones in the back garden, with impressive stone circles nearby in the village.
T. H.
Lovely country pub with open fire , great food and nice staff .
M. M.
Great location, fab garden and friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit, especially after a long walk in the area! Food was also delicious.
D. N.
Nice village pub, big garden with lovely views and ancient stones. Friendly locals and a big fireplace inside
A. F.
Fantastic pub for a wedding good service
S. S.
Fabulous pint, lovely tranquil location, friendly team. Enjoy!
A. N.
Really friendly helpful staff made us feel welcome and allows dogs. Nice selection of beers and ciders. Had lunch which was delicious. They do recommend booking for Sunday lunch as they get full. Nice weather meant additional capacity in the garden today.
C. C.
Great, friendly pub with a gentle buzz of conversation and a big open fire.
M. R.
Nice pub, food good value for money.
Went for Sunday lunch, lamb had sold out by 1.30,had the beef..Not the best cut,bit chewy but nicely presented on warm plates with a good selection of vegetables.
I would pay a little more for a better piece of beef or a piece that is cooked to a better standard, that would have got them 5 stars today despite the shortage of lamb!
Good friendly service, nice selection of beers and cider, very clean.
Would definitely come again and hopefully they will take my comments on board about the beef..
M. D.
Nice quick service, friendly staff and reasonable priced drinks. Did not eat but will be back to sample the food in the near future.

Came here for a birthday treat and to see the stones. Was not expecting much but we were treated like royalty, staff could not have been more helpful. Food was very good I had roast beef tender and tasty pink in the middle just how i like it. The two vegetarians in are party did not fancy the veg main coarse so had two starters instead soup and bread and a baked cheese dish that was loved and they just had enough room for the sticky toffee pudding everyone was pleased and glad they came, will be back again. Liked the metal tractor seat bar stools in the bar made me smile
A. B.
I visit the Druids Arms a handful of times a year when I am visiting the nearby stone circle for certain events. The folks who run it are always friendly and welcoming (no matter how weird I or my companions look on the day!) and serve nice drinks and GREAT food for a pretty decent price. The pub itself is cosy and warm and clean (the bathrooms are always sparkling!!) It's not easy to get to, especially if you're on public transit, but if you happen to be in the area I highly recommend dropping in to say hello and give them your patronage.
L. K.
A pub with a great setting and friendly/helpful staff. Food wasn't the best. Most of the veg was undercooked.
S. N.
Food was alright, everything home cooked, nothing very special. Service was appalling with knobs on. Locals are rude and arrogant.
If you are a locals pub then good luck to you. I get the need to cater for locals but surely not at the expense of the rest of us. Perhaps if you stopped serving food, as none of them were eating?!
Won't be going back or recommending, this is a great shame as this pub holds some fond memories for me and my family. Disappointed.
P. E.
We met up with friends of 40plus years today with great memories of Druids Arms from back then.
Staff are amazing. Great bit of banter😂
Food was absolutely perfect as was the service.
Thanks Druids.
We are members of Community and our friends want to return👍🏻
D. K.
A very good, 'standard' pub with a lovely, large beer garden which includes its own prehistoric monument. My son's homemade burger was the best he's had and my ham, eggs and chips excellent. The fishcake was fine, but not much to write about. Beer good, if a little unadventurous. Service excellent.
Thoroughly recommended if looking for a pub with outside space near Bristol. We even took a stroll around the stone circle afterwards.
S. D.
Very friendly helpful staff . Fish and chips really good will definitely be eating again
T. V.
Lovely Village pub, has a Stone Circle in filed behind pub to walk around
S. B.
Great pub, great food, great staff. Always a laugh!!
A. N.
Great pub, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere.

Wow ... at last a good well cared for Pub and a good keen Manager to provide for locals and visitors. Just what Stanton Drew has needed for a long long time.
We had lunch here yesterday, the bar staff were lovely welcoming and friendly, Manager made a point of coming to talk with us after we had eaten. The Druids certainly has an ambiance which it has lacked for a long long time.
Nicky the new Manager certainly wants to encourage locals, families, walkers, cyclists, Bell Ringers, and all other visitors to this pub, which the owner has spent obviously a lot of money on carrying out lots of work.
Locals welcomed visitors whilst we were there which is lovely to see.
Last but not least compliments to the chef!! Food was superb and the coffee from the new machine was good too.
We and our family, dogs too will definitely be supporting The new Druids Arms.
Well Done Nicky and team.
C. D.
This is a great pub, bit slow with the post lockdown service,. but good beer, good food. Highly recommend.
m. s.
Good food as always with a smile 😃
S. B.
Fantastic Country pub. Really friendly staff, great lcoals and great for dogs too! We had an stunning meal meal - Hoi sin pork belly to start was beautiful, hake and beef shin were cooked just right with tasty sauce and jus respectively. The lavender creme brulé is a perfect desert. Thanks for being so accommodating and looking after our dog too ( brought us over a dog bowl :) ). We will return!
J. w.
Regularly attend the Druids on a Wednesday afternoon to meet friends. Lovely local pub with a good ambiance and access to local ancient stones of historical interest. I have dined there only once and was unimpressed, however, friends who have rate it highly.
E. R.
Yummy! Lovely cosy pub. Friendly staff and doggy friendly. Amazing stones int he garden.
T.
Top 5 pubs in England. Check out the stones in the garden, and discuss ancient folklore over some local ales. If you’re driving past Bristol this is must!
A. L.
Really friendly staff, very welcoming. Great live band last night and Mexican food. Very near to the stone circle with stones in their garden too. Will come back x
N. S.
A fairly standard village pub lifted to a different level by the presence of the Stanton Drew stone circle. Part of this is in the pubs rear garden! Plenty of parking and friendly staff. Good choice of beer.
A. C.
Lovely country pub
