Reviews of The Fox Den
S.
We were welcomed quickly and courteously upon our arrival, shown to our table and provided with menus. The waiting staff were friendly and efficient in taking our orders for drink and food. The food was amazing!! Wonderful flavours, beautifully cooked and plenty of it. The atmosphere was very cosy and comfortable. We felt relaxed and were in no rush to leave. The toilets were clean, tidy and well-stocked. We would definitely return and absolutely recommend you to all.

My friends and I stopped by for dinner before the Flyers game. Everything was very tasty and the atmosphere was very cozy. My pudding was almost too adorable to eat and tasted even better than it looked. Definitely will be returning.
G. S.
Very pleasant surroundings , attentive and helpful staff who make you feel welcome . The choice of main courses was limited and food ordered was a tad slow at reaching the table but the quality of the food was excellent all piping hot and full of flavor . Reasonable prices too I would recomend this place for wheelchair users as everything is on one level and they do have a disabled toilet ..all clean and tidy through out on a score of 1 to 10 where 1 is terrible and 10 is perfect I would give the fox den a 9 ...
C. A.
What a lovely place to eat this was.
I had the belly pork on a black pudding mash with an amazing cider gravy.
Staff friendly and helpful.
E. K.
Nice setting and ambience. Food was fine and couldn't finish some of the meals due to size. Just a thought, the burger looked a little lost on the plate with the chips in a pot, could have done with a bit of salad just to decorate the plate a bit. Desserts were quite a good selection, if you had room left.
H. D.
Nice atmosphere. Efficient, friendly service and good food. I have a particular food intolerance and they went out of their way to accommodate it...even making a different gravy.
Just one thing...they could cut down on portion size and it would still be value for money.
A. H.
Fantastic evening at the fox den celebrating my birthday with family. Waiter was so entertaining had us laughing all night. Food was brilliant quality and great value for money. Definitely recommend a visit
C. S.
Our table was pre-reserved before our visit. Pleasent atmosphere without being too crowded. Food was excellent - I had the beef rib that was cooked to perfection. We spent a few hours there and at no point did we feel pressured to move to make way for other customers.
M. A.
We enjoyed the food particularly the chicken pie. The Doom Bar is also one of my favourite beers and it had been kept very well. The staff were very helpful and made our dog very welcome.
A. W.
We had 2sfeak meals .
Wife's steak was burnt , so she left it. She did not want to complain so I didn't.
It was OK but I thought overpriced for what it was. Just like average pub food . Much better for cheaper locally.

Good place to share a meal with family and friends. Plenty of parking, not too busy (Tuesday evening). Good food, very good service. Would come back again.

Really nice lovely food and staff really helpful.

Good staff, good food, good facilities

Loved this pub near to Holiday Inn express. Good choice on menu , Sunday dinner enormous, great value for money.
H. A.
Very nice pub. Good selection of drinks and professional menus. Beautiful setting with fireplace on during the winters.
G. P.
Friendly service and food beautifully cooked, but sadly I chose the fishcakes, which were rather bland. I chose the Eton Mess for dessert which was kindly offered foc for the disappointing fishcakes. This again wasn't particularly satisfying... it was too wet the 'cream' sauce overpowered. It was a variation on an Eton Mess which I wouldn't have chosen otherwise

Amazing as always, lovely food and very helpful staff. The flower pot pudding is so beautiful, as well as tasty! Everyone should try it!
R. T.
Really nice pub. The staff are friendly and the roast dinner was excellent, we will definitely be going back 👍😃
S. M.
Excellent service and great food. Staff accommodating, especially the head barman (manager)
C. P.
After reading mixed reviews on this place was little apprehensive. However had a lovely meal today (table of 9) service was very good and waitress was very attentive. Nice pub with relaxing atmosphere. Lovely sunday roasts
D. G.
The service and food was brilliant. I had the lasagna with a side of halloumi fries. The halloumi was the best I have ever tasted.
s. p.
Lovely pub, comfortable warm and relaxed. It's a shame about some of the front of house staff who are quite rude and unfriendly, it spoils what could be a lovely pub
M. F.
Really nice place good food and not that expensive staff were also really nice would recommend and will be going back
S. S.
It's a lovely place for drink and meal, a little expensive but it's nice to treat yourself now and again.
u. o.
Very nice place,
Easier to reach
Welcoming staff and helpful
tasty wine and food!
I will certainly go there again
R. O.
Good food throughout the day and Thatcher's haze to drink. What more do you want. Great staff as well
L. J.
Really nice lovely food and staff really helpful.
J. L.
Really lovely pub with great boxing day food. Lovely staff and amazing value. Really enjoyable overall! Thank you
A. S.
Food was nice , not really worth bothering putting the pork cracking on the plate , it was far to hard to eat . Service was good .
K. E.
Food was fantastic. I had a calamari starter, roasted salmon main, and sticky toffee pudding dessert. All spot on and we'll presented. Service was exceptional and it is a lovely cosy place inside.
A. M.
Excellent food and lovely pub atmosphere. Would definitely visit again.
C. S.
Spacious pub without being crowded with tables meaning there's decent space for everyone. Good quality food and very good service by pleasant and amiable staff.
G. W.
Having visited this place several times in the past pleased to see that the staff were all wearing masks. We both chose the crispy duck salad on the waiters recommendation. Big mistake, the duck was inedible you could not cut it with a knife and we both gave up on trying to chew it. They did replace it when we both complained and the second offering was slightly better but still chewy.
I. L.
Lovely lunch, well cooked, friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend.
W. L.
Went for sunday roast, meat and potatoes were decent (although potatoes could be more crunchy), decent parsnips, a bit of a let down on cauliflower cheese (cauliflower not cooked enough, it was quite tough) and carrots had odd flavour to them. Otherwise quite good, lovely drinks and decor, staff nice and polite, just some side dishes need more love and seasoning.
S. A. N.
A place where you can enjoy with the clever foxes. Their steaks are excellent.... Loved it.
F.
Great for family gatherings and lovely atmosphere. Good food, too.
S. T.
Spot of lunch in Fox Den; excellent food and prompt, efficient service
S. O.
Nice quiet resturant. Food was of good quality with reasonable price.
A. H.
Ok
Nice place vegan choice at least 4 wow fairly small curry taste ok not my favourite but nice to see they are trying worth a visit once.
Not the friendliest place it looks nice but try harder.
J. W.
It was OK. My wife enjoyed the fish and chips, but my steak was as tough as a maths A-level. They were gracious enough to remove it from the bill without quibbling so I'll give an extra star for that.
C. S.
They serve a lovely rib-eye steak 🥩 which I highly recommend! It's a nice chilled out pub / restaurant, was not too busy when we went which was early on a Friday evening. Great service too!
A. J.
Lovely pub, great food and great service.
M. D.
Brilliant place can't wait to go in the summer and watch the world go past in their lovely garden
P. M.
5 star for food, 1 star for service.
If this place could get the service sorted it would become my new regular. Slow food and slow drinks, over 2 hours for 2 courses.
T. B.
Lovely meal. Couldn't fault it. Will return.
r. A.
Service and food both are very good..
Loved the food.
E. T.
Good staff, good food, good facilities
S. G.
Nice interior and enjoyed sitting outside too. Staff friendly and very attentive. Good selection of drinks. I will be returning sometime. Thank you
C. B.
Beautiful pub next to where I was staying with work, cant fault the lasagna in the slightest
K. D.
Lovely food and great service. Recommended.
G. L.
Always enjoy visiting here, easily the best pub in the area for food and service, the staff are always lovely and it has that country pub feeling
j. y.
Nice place serve a decent glass of wine.
S. N.
Food good, service amazing, always a smile and a joke (It sounds like they are smiling behind that mask 😂) They cannot do enough for you. Nice surroundings, you pay a little more than other 'synthetic' pubs but worth it. Excellent in selection Plenty of parking, hotel next door if you need to sleep it off! COVID safety excellent.
L. A.
Cant fault it. Spacious beer garden. Reasonable prices for standard pints in my opinion. Convenient location for me. Will continue to use regularly.
A. S.
Nice varieties of drinks and very tasty food!
P. B.
Can’t fault the beer , let’s start from there!!
Opted to eat there tonight because it was easy. Went for fish cakes at about 12/13 quid. Fish cakes were nice enough , but not worth doing a cartwheel for. Best bit of the plate was the broccoli , delicious.
Baby boiled potatoes were tragic , drier than the Gobi desert. Not sure if I would do food there again?
No check back , no asking f I was happy on collection , same on paying bill.
Paid and left .... not tragic , but think there’s room for improvement
F. I.
This nice country-style pub stands out from the rest that you will find in the area. Cosy, clean and with a nice variety of food and drinks.
C. W.
Great pub nestled in and around Sainsbury's, a Holiday in and a housing estate. A great atmosphere, it was a little busy when I went in but they said it was unusual for a Wednesday night. A great range of food including Vegan. Also a great range of food for everyone, my family of 4 had endless choices 👍 And lots of different drinks to have too, your classic pub with a several log fires 🙂
G. B.
Good food but very slow service
P. D.
Really nice pub tucked away.
Highly recommended it.
K. G.
Superb atmosphere. Food is amazing, some very tasty dishes on offer. Downloaded the app and had a fabulous reward of 33% off.
Staff are lovely no pressure to leave the table either. Recommend booking at busy times.
A. W.
Lovely pub. Good food and atmosphere
M. P.
We had a wonderful evening meal for 6 of us. The menu is varied and the food was lovely. But the atmosphere and the service turned the evening from good to creating a memory that we all will look back on fondly and treasure. We can't wait to go again.
R. W.
Booked in at the hotel next door, this place is a bit more expensive than most pubs, but the staff are very friendly and the food is very tasty with an extra touch of fancy quisine and the onion rings are HUGE!
G. F.
Came here for lunch with my family for the first time since lockdown ended. Felt very safe from start to finish. The practices (one way system, sanitiser, card payment only) were explained to us very clearly. Food was delicious, i had the seabass and my parents had the fishcakes.
C.
After being in business meetings went in with a college to catch up, the area of seating for those drinking was next to nothing. While those who have meals was vast. When going on a Tuesday evening, hardly anyone was having meals and yet were unable to find appropriate seating as 80/90% is restricted. Otherwise than that the venue is quite nice.
V. H.
We came and lunch time it was quiet which was nice we had a lovely table in the corner.
The food was amazing I had the lamb shank and it was the best lamb I've had in a long
time! I would definitely come back here. The only reason i gave 4 stars is i felt the staff could be a bit more cheerful
B. B.
Cool chilled restaurant/pub. Part of chain
L. d. S.
Visited here on Saturday night
The food was absolutely lovely
The atmosphere is comfortable and chilled
The service was quite slow I have to say but they appeared busy. Our waiter was a youngish guy he was very friendly.
Will 100% come back ✅
M.
Nice pub and friendly staff. Food was good and didn't take long to be served. It has a good size parking area and some table outside too. The only down fall is that is very close to a busy round abound and the garden is not big at all. So not a good place for families with young children, making it a ideal place for couples, business meal, meeting up and enjoy more adult atmosphere.
W. W.
Went to visit our 2 sons at the local University and decided to take them out for a family dinner. We were enticed by the offers Vintage Inn had so booked at the Fox Den on a whim.
We had a great experience starting with the welcome on arriving, to the attentive staff at all stages of our meal, the excellent food choice with separate vegan menu with lots of choice for our vegetarian group member, and superb ale choice for hubby.
Bearing in mind this one is close to a Holiday Inn hotel I wasn’t expecting much but was pleasantly surprised and would return. Would also thoroughly recommend the sharing platters - both for starters and desserts.
Thank you to the team for a great first visit!
A. B.
Mushroom starter was amazing how ever I found piece of bone in my steak and the triple cooked chips are of the frozen bag variety will give it another go tho
A. W.
Lovely atmosphere, excellent food and service.
D. P.
A Lovely place to eat. I booked a table requesting the festive menu. As we arrived the staff was very welcoming. The table was set with christmas crackers. We had the asparagus parcel, the turkey breast and the christmas pudding. The food was great and the service fast. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
G. M.
Dropped in for a quick lunch. Food was good and well cooked. Staff were pleasant and efficient. Sat outside the only gripe I have is the the outside tables were not cleaned which made the dining experience less pleasant. Overall it's s good place to eat, just more attention to the outside table cleanliness.
B. W.
Great food and great attentive service as my 8 year old said “I want to give this place a 5000 star review!” Our server Owen with the purple hair was an absolute delight everything you look for in a server kids loved him too!
S. J.
I like going to the Fox Den! I can take my dog, she loves the doggy beer. The roast dinner is well priced, served quickly and tastes lovely. I popped there for lunch with a colleague the other day just after lockdown ended and found the measures for COVID were appropriate but not too crazy. And the food as is usual was excellent. The staff are always friendly and attentive... just sad I didn’t take my dog this time 😄
N. P.
An enjoyable meal. Decor is good and the bar staff are attentive and friendly. The food is fairly average for the price that the pub asks and on all three visits it has taken and age for the food to reach the table. It's very almost there just needs a bit more work sorting the kitchen out.
A. T.
A nice traditional feeling pub. It looks old but I believe is quite new and built from reclaimed materials. Good beer and decent food. It serves as the restaurant and bar for the hotel on the other side of the car park, so often more guests than regulars
j. l.
Consistent food and drinks with food specials that come in handy when staying across the parking lot. Sunday Roast is nice. The weekday specials work for any food palate. It seems they have problems with workers when the seating is limited due to wait staff. That is why I gave it 4 stars.
A. J.
Nice inside but outside could do with a little TLC
M. F.
One of the best pubs in the area (to be honest there are not many other of this quality in walking distance), with amazing staff, food and beers.
G. M.
Great food and plenty too.
M.
It's ok. Food is expensive
P. W.
Very clean and food nice and hot.
A. P.
I stayed next to it at holiday inn.
David answered the phone when needed food for my family. Impressive service . 5 stars. Very empathetic and helpful.
Thank you David .
T. B.
Great food staff little slow on service
H. T.
The venue is attractive and well laid out inside with bar food served at one end and restaurant art the other. Wines of a good standard and staff pleasant and attentive. However, the food was poor and overpriced. We would return for a drink but eat elsewhere.
K. W.
I am afraid I will have to rewrite my review since the previous one was based on the atmosphere and drinks only.
This time food was involved... unfortunately. I wish I didn't do that because until then I really liked the place.
The burger that I had was the driest and tasteless that I've ever tried. I am not sure if over-done describes the disappointment. No sauce, dry bun (not even toasted), patty (I think I could cause a serious damage if I try to trow it at someone), single slice of tomato and a piece of lettuce (at least crunch was alright since there was no juices whatsoever).
When the waiter came to ask how is everything, I wish I said the truth instead of making a smile full of pain while trying to swallow the bite.
Sweet potato fries...yea they were spot on, but that is it.
That really is a shame because the place has many customers and that makes me wonder if everyone is so polite to not question the quality of the food, or I was just unlucky.
W. L.
Nice pub, reasonable food. The prices are relatively high for the area and this is probably because it serves the hotel opposite. It has a pleasent garden area and plenty of parking. The interior has areas where groups of various sizes can sit together. It can take a while to get served sometimes, even when it is relatively quiet. It can get busy when staff from local offices descend on it. Food is good.
G. M.
Latest menu is tasty. Particularly enjoyed the Squashage roll starter. Service was good.
M. H.
Fairly standard chain pub, nice atmosphere and friendly and efficient staff. Food is OK, again - pretty standard stuff, nothing to rave about but decent and quick service so no real complaints. The pub itself is comfortable with plenty of tables and sofas to find spot to settle down.
D. M.
Delicious food, couldn't fault one bit. Not
bad pricing. Staff were friendly, however service wasn't as swift as it between courses or when it came to ordering more drinks. That being said I would return am looking to more food from this place!
R. H.
Much improved from out last visit. 5 of us enjoyed a selection of the Sunday lunches on offer all of which came with a large Yorkshire Pudding. 😋 Quick service and a spacious relaxing environment. We will return. 😉
T. B.
Great place to eat. Good menu, quality of food, and decent price to. Also quite a classy pub in terms of how clean and well maintained it is. Would certainly recommend it.
A.
Faultless Sunday dinner for the second time. Very rarely leave reviews but our experience with young children (3 and 0) has been so good I think it deserves one. Fab service and fab food.
P. W.
Great place to eat, great menu choices, both vegetarian and meat/fish eaters, and the staff have been fabulous! Service is really good, atmosphere spot-on. Bar meals/setting or restaurant, so take your pick......the quality really is top class, and the lamb rump as part of tge lamb duo meal I had is arguably the best I have ever tried... you'll love the portions too!
L. H.
Lovely food and welcoming atmosphere despite current rules and restrictions. I've been a few times over the years and it's definitely improved alot since my first visit 8ish years ago.
R. M.
Lovely pub , finally had a chance to eat here due to covid and we wasnt disappointed. Staff frie dly and helpful. I recommend the salmon ! And the giant onion rings ! And the chips !
And the deserts - well i had the flowerpot - would highly recommend. Well, check it out yourself, you wont be disappointed. Loved the blackcurrant sorbet too x
Convenient too as right opposite hotel and reasonably priced.
G. B.
I work nearby and this is our go to bar/pub to have a pint or some food after work with my colleagues. The unique selling point is Its comfortable location - close to the main road, but you will not be bothered by it as it is covered by vegetation. restaurant design and layout is also very welcoming. The food was okay, so that's the point to improve on.
H. C.
Waited to meet with someone here on a weekday lunchtime. Nice cosy atmosphere. Friendly, efficient staff. Food and drinks very good. Dropped a star because very late opening up -11:45am rather than 11am as advertised. I could see staff inside but was left hanging outside. They could have let me in or told me to come back later, or put a note on the door if unable to open.
L. B.
Beautiful food ( burger and amazing pizza) such good prices. lovely and friendly staff who make you feel welcome ! All over great and would definitely recommend 😄
R. F.
Food and service was good.good veg and vegan options. Not for a budget.
D. S.
Good food a bit expensive but still nice. Great service by the staff.
A. H.
What an outstanding pub with staff that is an assist to the company. The bar staff are friendly and make the visit enjoyable. The lady with short blonde hair and the tall chap who worked behind the bar ( 18.06.2019) made us feel welcome and made are visit more enjoyable. Thank you fox den we will be back again
P. A. W.
Had meal Saturday evening while staying at the hotel next door. Chicken and mushroom pie poor and expensive for what it was. Sunday lunch for six (with same base menu from previous evening) no beef - an hour's wait for it. Yorkshire pudding like rubber and vegetables a bit messy. Grandsons chips overcooked, but they did bring some extra. Overall, had better elsewhere....Alan
r. p.
Booked a table for 6. We were were separated from other tables as required by covid. Good menu choice with very efficient and friendly staff
m. p.
My first visit to the fox den. As it was a Sunday we didn't leave it too late for lunch, 2:15 was our slot. Quite often the favourites have run out by 3pm at this chain judging by past experiences. Luckily our waitress assured us our menu requests were still available. I opted for the duo of beef roast dinner/platter. The portion size of beef was rather stingy to say the least, a single slice off a joint and a small piece of on the bone rib. The meat was hot but the accompanying veg was not, luke warm at best. The only mustard available was English as they had run out of Dijon or French, however, a nice pot of horseradish appeared to go with the beef. A side order of cauliflower cheese was very tasty. A roast dinner needs to be served hot, simple as that.
J. H.
Lovely staff, lush food
N. P.
Slow service due to lack of bar staff...and 1 year on the service at the bar has improved slightly but the food has got worse. After waiting 35 mins for a burger, 10 mins after my friend had their food delivered, I had to go back to the bar to find out where my food had got to. Finally came, all under cooked AND almost cold, including the burger (H&S alert!). It's only a burger, how can you get something so simple, so wrong.? Won't be coming back, sorry, plenty more fish in the sea.
A. T.
Great food, great service
Went for a girls night out and had a wonderful evening. The food was excellent - steaks cooked to perfection, crispy batter on the fish, all for a great price. The staff were so helpful, making suggestions where appropriate and ensuring we had everything we needed.
Highly recommended!
E. H.
Really good food and drinks
A. B. U.
It is a cosy place very suitable for talking with friends. There are no waitresses taking orders. You have to approach the bar give your orders. And this can take some time. I had a below average fish and chips but drinking estrella after these years was very good. The hamburger looked amazing though.
S. L.
Nice meal at the fix den as we where staying in hotel would recommend
K. G.
Good wholesome food suitable for vegetarians. A bit slow serving though as don't have many staff. Brilliant for dogs as let inside and even gave them treats.
N. J.
Very nice pies. A bit of shame that the menu had quite a few things that were sold out. Good selection of beers.
J. M.
Food and setting are great. Service poor at times due to under-staffing. When I was last there, the place was packed with one barmaid, a manager who could only occasionally assist behind the bar, struggling to cope. Owners need to get a grip.
P. R.
Went here for Sunday lunch.
We were greeted at the door told about covid instructions.
Taken to table. Had great service and a lovely meal. Definitely go again
L.
Reassessed upon return. Previous review was poor, obviously a couple of bad days I attended. SOme premium lagers and good wine and gin selection. Nice large beer garden.
l. k.
Superb place, lovely atmosphere, fantastic food. Service was excellent and good social distancing measures in place. Definitely going back again.
N. E.
Easy to book and good service, but despite eating early two of our choices for a main meal were not available. I was informed that my choice of mealbwas not available 20 mins after ordering, I then ordered a steak everyone else at the table was served and eating before mybsteaknwas delivered. When it did arrive it was so burnt that it had to go back hunters chicken was my 3ed choice and this was served very quickly probable one that has been sitting around for a while as it was set and unappetizing. Not up to usual standards and disappointing
J. M.
Food and drink in the Fox den has a good variety of choices, drinks a little on the pricer side, but the food is reasonable. Only eaten here for lunch, but the lunch menu os great value and has some tasty smaller bites on offer. Staff are friendly, when the bar is busy the pub could really do with putting on some more staff to reduce the queue quicker.
J. E.
Great food & lovely staff. Will definitely visit again.
Word of warning - the dessert sampler is quite large & the ice cream will melt everywhere!
J. B.
Food and service were excellent, no hesitation recommending
B. M. L.
Very picture pub, must have got it on a bad day, no waiter service due to staff shortage. You had to go back to bar to order an additional course if you didn't include at start. Dessert very disappointed.
L. W.
Very well presented food & a good menu selection. Great value, with lots of special offers. Several real ales on offer. Usual quirky character building as you expect from Vintage Inns.
G. H.
The Fox den is one of the village inn pup franchise of pubs, this means food is cooked to a certain standard and the menu follows the village inn menu. This results in food that is pretty reliable which is cooked to a good standard. The Fox den has a nice ambience with the restaurant divided by a fireplace and various internal walls which keeps the noise from other diners to a minimum. There is a good sized car park and a few tables outside for the warmer months.
P. P.
Unusually good food. I've been back in the UK for two weeks, eating out most days, and this has been the best food so far. The beer batter is light and approaches perfection; the battered mushrooms are great; the beef and merlot pie is "tender, rich and tasty, with a crust like a crispy buttery cloud" per my wife, who also enjoyed the cabbage in the mixed veg (she normally isn't fond of cabbage); my vintage hunters chicken was delicious, served with the best fries of the trip ("perfection") and onion rings rated as "oh my god" by aforementioned wife.
Heartily recommended.
J. T.
Food was nice, lady at the bar rude and miserable. Table service was great.
P. D. M.
I had my birthday diner at this place. The food and service were outstanding. I even had a candle on my cake 😍. I will definitely recommend the Fox Den to anyone living in or visiting Bristol.
T. H.
Food is nice but service is slooooooooow. Did go on weekday lunchtime which would expect to be busy however we did preorder our food so hoped we would have faster service. We were there 2 hours which didnt go down well at work
M. D.
They have refurbished it since I was last in & it is much better. More open. Myself & my friend were there just for a few drinks. It is restaurant centric but at least now, we didn't feel like total intruders.
G. N.
We were in Bristol from Barnsley stopping in a hotel next to The Fox Den. Its a Nice furnished pub with very friendly staff. Food was beautiful. Recommend anybody to dine here
L. G.
Friendly, helpful staff and delicious vegetarian roast, plenty of well cooked ve and they even got gravy for us. Our Huskies loved it too.

Had a good meal in the bar area with our 2 dogs. Staff were very happy to have the dogs there and even offered a bowl of water. Good value for money.
M. K.
Good pub atmosphere, decent food. I've been going there about 3 times per year for 8 years. They don't get a 5 simply because the managers have always been grumpy. This tends to rub off on the staff.
C. G.
App doesn't work properly. They ask you to pay by app but the app wakes 20 mins to load once you've opened it.
R. N.
Food and staff were really good. Was a bit disorganised when we got there but Hannah and the other member of bar staff. (Female long hair) were fabulous.
r. h.
Lovely roast lunch unfortunately by 3pm they had run out of Lamb shanks, my favourite, plenty of veg, and very good service, very impressed with my first visit
J. S.
This is primarily a place you go to for food. It is adjacent to a hotel and this is probably its biggest customer base. The food is good and it is normally necessary to book a table on a Friday or Saturday night. A good selection of beers and ciders.
s. r.
Great little hidden gem, love the decor, great staff and good drinks range , yet to try the food but good choice on the menu ! Will definitely visit again soon
M. C.
Really good belly pork with apple sorbet, no less! Good range of Thornbridge bottled beers, excellent service. Recommended.
J. M.
people are really friendly. Service is really good. food we could not fault it really tasty. even though we got told there might be a wait for food we were not waiting very long at all.
L. h.
Christmas dinner perfect. Food hot and tasty. Staff wonderful. Nobody rushed us. Best meal ever will be back...next time I'm in u.k.
o. o.
Best pub i have been to since i arrived here. Great customer service!
K. T.
Lovely food the service was amazing
M. H.
Not my favourite place. A bit expensive , the menu never lives up to its promise and at busy times getting a table and served compete, and are mutually exclusive. Result stressed staff with concomitant results. Ok but not 4 stars
NB I never give 5 stars
Bother predictive txt!
G. W.
Back down on business staying in hotel , yet again had a great meal and good service
K. D.
Asked for medium steak got very well done, strange salad sprinklings, 3 small measly onion rings, staff are too busy to check if ur meal is OK, takes ages to bring your food, ordered brulee which is where the 3rd star comes from, but cookies were also burnt.
S. W.
Great staff, very tasty food with fresh vegetables, would recommend
k. w.
Very slow service. Ordered salad, which was nice but paid £3 extra for halloumi and only got 2 slices, whilst my firend got whole chicken breast for the same price.
M. M.
Great service, good hot food, great portions, very nice
E. H.
Excellent service and lovely interior and atmosphere. The food could have been of a higher standard and should have included vegetables or salad.
G. M.
Standard vintage Inn style layout and menu, cosy feel to interior. Bar staff seem to be overworked maybe? Never get a smile and have to wait a very long time for your drink.
A. A.
Very friendly staff and a nice quaint place to enjoy a drink. Food is excellent!
R. R.
I ordered `lamb shank pie` @ £13.50 when brought to the table it had a lamb bone sticking out through the mash potato topping. I pulled the bone, it came out and it had no meat on it. I decided then not to eat it but to have a look at what was in there first. The bowl was topped off with 75% mash the rest of the bowl was advertised as `lamb cooked in a red wine sauce` (6 small bits of lamb). There was hardly no sauce in there and it was not cooked any where near red wine (i tasted a small piece). I asked for some red wine sauce but all that was brought back was a small drop of gravy!. At that point the meal was sent back and i left hungry. :-( My point is £13.50 for a meal that would have cost approx £4 or less from `Brakes the wholesaler`. Not happy.
L. W.
The Fox Den has a really nice traditional pub feel, with a open roaring fire.
Food is quite nice with a large selection and even lovely desserts, and service has always been quick and friendly whenever I've been.
J. H.
The Fox Den has just had a change of management - The improvement has been astonishing. Much better/quicker service along with improved food quality from the kitchen. Suart the temporary Manager has really turned the Fox Den around!
M. A.
Safe COVID secure meal, with helpful friendly table service. Highly recommended.
S. J.
Great food as always .tables well spaced one way system in place .table service only to keep social distance. Enjoyable meal out
E. W.
Nice little pub restaurant that creates a country vibe whilst being adjacent to two retail parks and the MOD. Helpful online booking system and/or automated phone booking. I had the wagyu beef burger. Lovely. Walkable from Filton Abbeywood or Bristol Parkway stations.
E. M. S.
The pub is nice and cozy, great environment, however staff are a bit slow to respond if you don't have a pre-booked table. The food quality is standard, nothing spectacular though.
A. E.
Food not bad. Service a bit slow at the bar. Bar staff run off their feet taking drinks to tables. Quite nice interior. Decent choice of drinks
j. p.
You get good food and drink here, a large car park and a small garden area.
Good service good variety of food to choose from pleasant friendly service from the staff.
T. G.
Best place ever. Good food staff friendly good surroundings. Will go back soon.
C. B.
Identical building and decor to the Walton Fox in Preston.
M. S.
Great food and service
A. H.
Fantastic service and fantastic food. Plentyfull menu for a chain pub; great quality and lovely atmosphere.
J. S.
Meal with family, menu choice was good. Lamb shank was very tasty, sadly vegtables were dried out and not very hot. Friendly staff.
L. B.
Really nice atmosphere, helpful front of house staff, lovely spacious tables and excellent quality of food, would highly recommend
F. H.
Fab food, fab staff loved it here. Social distancing was good and well thought out. Recommended.
P. A. W.
Had meal Saturday evening while staying at the hotel next door. Chicken and mushroom pie poor and expensive for what it was. Sunday lunch for six (with same base menu from previous evening) no beef - an hour's wait for it. Yorkshire pudding …
L. G.
Friendly, helpful staff and delicious vegetarian roast, plenty of well cooked ve and they even got gravy for us. Our Huskies loved it too.
M. H.
Fairly standard chain pub, nice atmosphere and friendly and efficient staff. Food is OK, again - pretty standard stuff, nothing to rave about but decent and quick service so no real complaints. The pub itself is comfortable with plenty of tables and sofas to find spot to settle down.
L. B.
OK food.. Slow service..
l. b.
Very busy on Friday but still did not have long wait for bar meal. Pleasant staff. Food good.
T. W.
Very good food helpfull staff
P. D. U.

K. P.
Good, friendly service. Main meal was satisfactory. Dessert was very good.

r. h.
Lovely roast lunch unfortunately by 3pm they had run out of Lamb shanks, my favourite, plenty of veg, and very good service, very impressed with my first visit
V. A.
Been to The Fox Den couple of times. Nice atmosphere and good food. 👍
a. d.
Good service friendly staff food was good
N. F.
Visited a few times while staying at the near by holiday Inn. As you would expect being part of the Vintage Inn chains, the food is brilliant and the warm atmosphere is all there. Highly recommend if you are near by.
L. M.
Went there for a meal with friend just before Christmas it was my first time the food was excellent and the service was great very friendly will definitely go there again
A. C.
What a contrast to the The Dragonfly- Vintage Inn in Newport, which is shocking quite frankly....
Food was great all round, service was a little slow so marked down slightly.
Overall we were impressed, good prices also.
M. S.
Nice place good company had a good time
B. T.
Had Boxing Day lunch there which was 1st class. The Fox Den is a bit of an enigma depending on who is in charge. One minute dreadful next brilliant. At the moment its brilliant.
L. D.
Just had lunch here, 5 of us and we all throughly enjoyed it. Great food, good service and portion size Is excellent.
E. U.
Good food but not a comprehensive menu, had to look over and over to find something to eat, but very tasty food, relaxed atmosphere and a little bit reserved, recommended, I will probably visit again.
k. p.
Lovely cosy pub serving above average food, good service and friendly staff, can get busy later in the evening but worth a visit.
R. S.
Visited 19-2-19,had pre booked a table for six,but it was very busy.and when we went to order food,we were told that they had run out of eggs, and also other dishes were no longer available. When we did order food there was a 30 minutes wait. When our order
N. F.
I've been to worse places, but also better. The service was average. And the person who served us was a bit rude.
P. J.
Pub local to Abbey Wood, ideal for lunchtime meetings, food a little bit pricey but quality is reasonable. The staff are welcoming, give it a try.
P. B.
Food looked good but bar area a little small and sterile. Dog-friendly though which was a massive bonus.
M. M.

K. G.
The staff are very polite and very nice pub and its clean and tidy and they have lovely food and very delicious steak i would go there again

Nice cosy atmosphere but slow on food delivery as normally very busy. Nice daytime family environment. Quite corporate/post work customers in the evening
S. P.
Unfortunately after being to another vintage pub the previous day the fox den didn't come close, food much nicer at previous pub.
N. B.
Nice feel to the place. Good range of food and drink available. Not the cheapest pub, but that's probably why it's nice!
j.
Decent food and a nice setting - as nice as you'll get in Filton anyway. Has a beer garden so a good place to enjoy a sunny afternoon
K. M.
Monday-Saturday menu is very nice, however Sunday roast used to be amazing but has some work to do get back to its former glory
F. B.

It's ok. Tonnes better than a Toby carvery but portions aren't great. Peterborough vintage inns far superior
L. S.
Pork belly was fab, was served with green veg done slightly under just as I like it, the black pudding was tasty too.
K. A.
Lovely food for 8 of us, been lovely if the staff were as good, not a smile between them, cheer up.
