Good overall roast dinner, beef was melt in the mouth with nice veggies. My only little niggle was the roast potatoes weren't quite cooked enough and not crispy or fluffy outside. Nice pint of Neckoil and good overall service. Recommended.

Food is great, limited options! We could only eat there after out second try! The first we got there around 2 pm and they didn’t have enough food. Since it was nice and sunny, we were looking forward to sit in the garden, but apparently they do not serve there! I honestly don’t know why they have it. Waitresses were kind, it took sometime for them to clear our table! But overall the food was good. It is an amateur environment, with homemade good food. It seems like they don’t wish or desire to make much effort as fat as the service is concerned! I believe they can afford that. In summary food is good, service can be better! Zero covid measures in case you ar concerned with any of that.

We come to The Knowle on a Sunday for the Sunday Lunch Roast. The options we had was beef, turkey and pork belly. We ordered the pork belly, beef and half beef (children's portion) All were delicious and I really enjoyed the selection of vegetables to accompany the roast. We opted for a side of pigs and blankets and for dessert we chose a dark chocolate and peanut butter tarte (tasted Amazing I'm told) Speed of service was brilliant and the price is quite reasonable for the quality of the food and services your paying for. Were be back!!

A solid Sunday roast in Bristol. I had the nut roast which had a lot flavour, highlight was the Yorkshire pudding & cauliflower cheese. Make sure you ask for extra gravy as you only get a little. Roasties weren’t that good, a bit hard and not crispy on the outside or fluffy inside.

Cute pub with nice ales on tap. However the food wasn't great. We went for a Sunday roast (albeit at the tail end of the day) and each dish was overly soaked in gravy and the meat tough as nails. Staff were very nice however.

I have heard about the reputation locally for this pub and it's food for some time. This often worries me, as hopes rise only to be dashed. Not here. Visited with a friend for lunch. The service was friendly and helpful, delivered promptly and most of all was delicious. One happy customer who will be returning.

Went in to The Knowle for lunch today. Lovely welcome when we walked in, shown to a set table and presented with menu. All of the 4 of us had their club sandwich. Certainly delicious . Don't be shy of paying for quality. What a lovely place for a quality bite to eat and a natter with a decent pint. There's a small but respectful range of quality ales on rotation and a commendable range of gin if that's your poison of choice. The food menu offers a simple choice of fayre and it's good quality - a falafel burger was demolished without interruption by my wife as was my fish and chips: well cooked chips and a delightfully thick piece of cod, complimented with a garnish of home made tartare sauce and mashed mushy peas, which were brilliant. I've previously reviewed the pub before, commentating on its prices, which are higher than I'd like. Being objective, the prices aren't unreasonable and in line with prices from other quality gastropubs in the locality. I'm always one to identify high prices in return for mediocre food and it would be for from fair to place The Knowle in this bracket. (Oh - the staff are lovely too, very friendly and the decor is great!)

This is first time for many years that I've been in the Knowle and what a change! The vibe is a very relaxed and open one. Decked out with a combination of 1960's Ercol furniture and 1950's Oak veneered table and mismatched chairs its decor is very much of the moment. A real nice selection of beers and larger including Red Stripe on tap this is probably the best pub in the area. I didn't sample the food but the dishes I saw coming out of the kitchen looked very good. I'll definitely be returning.

My local and great to go back there for first time since COVID - my first time ever for food. They took great care - COVID confident - and were very welcoming. You need to book in advance of course - and the sirloin steak and Lamb & chorizo pie were both delicious! Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

What a transformation of a place. Admittedly this happened a few years back but it all still looks very new and fresh. Small and well executed lunch menu. Very clean. Staff extremely helpful. Had Sunday lunch here with friends on 2nd December and it far exceeded our expectations. The food was fantastic - the best roast I've had in ages - and all the staff were attentive and friendly throughout. They even gave us Christmas crackers! We contacted The Knowle when we were searching for a venue to cater for a wake following a funeral in the nearby Catholic Church. Out of all the venues we got in touch with, Beth at The Knowle responded the fastest and was straight away accommodating and helpful. The menu they provided was appetising and creative and very good value, needless to say we booked straight away. On the day they had kept half the pub accessible for the funeral guests and laid out a tasty buffet with fresh sandwiches (lovely fluffy bread) and other items we chose. The brownies were a particular favourite. Once the guests had dispersed they cleared the buffet and even packed all the leftovers into Tupperware which they gave us to take away! All in all it helped to make a difficult day that bit better. I would thoroughly recommend them

This place is so good I almost don't want to recommend it because it will become too crowded. The real ales are excellent and the chips are probably the best anywhere. I've never had a big meal here but they look delicious and, judging from other reviews, indeed are. It's my friend's local, and I wish it were mine. The only negative comment is a personal gripe about pub quiz nights (Tuesdays) - if you're not participating they can be annoyingly loud and distracting to conversation.

I've been here a few times in the last year (my courses are in Bristol and I use an AirBnB around the corner). It's not the cheapest place to eat in the area it seems, but it is bloody lovely. Had the pork on the current menu (Apr-18) which didn't look like a lot of food when it came out but its deceptively filling! Always friendly staff. Echo the comments about it being a bit noisy for some, but I liked the busy atmosphere in the bar area. The dining area is a little quieter though, especially around the corner.

This is a really nice local tucked well away from the high street in the middle of a residential area. Place is clean and tidy, food is fine and seating is spacious. Only thing negative is that you couldn't hear each other talk if the place is packed - the noise is deafening as it bounces off the bare walls. I wouldn't stay if it's packed - shame that.

I went there with my wife, young son and baby daughter on a weekday evening and we were greeted straight away, we found a seat and the staff came over after about a minute and took our drinks and food order. Possibly the best gastropub in Bristol. I have eaten there meny times now (10+) and have never been dissapointed, great food and very well priced. The staff are really friendly and helpfull, dogs and kids welcome. if i had to mention a negitive it would be the steep steps down to the garden, but i guess thats what happens when a pub is built on a hill! The lovely staff opened the side gate for me to get in the garden (step free) when i bought my son last year after he broke his leg and was confined to a wheelchair for a couple of months. My Husband tells me they keep a great selection of beers, i am more than happy with the wine selection! I would always book for the Amazing Sunday roast (or at least phone ahead) Chef Blaines 12hour roast beef is sublime, its pink and oh so tender, Mmmm i feel a Sunday roast calling me....

This is one of my locals. Quite often pop in for a drink when walking the dog. Down side is the building is owned by Heineken Sotheby's draught selection is limited to major national breweries. However did have one from the milk street brewery recently. Food is good quality but simple enough to be comfort grub.
