Reviews of The Mardyke
Its a pub how pubs used to be before they all became boutique. Eclectic mix of customers and always a bustling atmosphere. Prices have just gone up! Now £2.40 a pint for Butcombe! Great range of ciders but don't expect a gin menu. In fact don't expect any kind of menu other than crisps, nuts and pickled eggs.
If you're looking for the cheapest pint on Bristol harbourside and beyond, look no further! Excellently local, with the sticky floors and music machine to boot. If you're up to being a local, you'll love this place.
Really good place to drink very cheap and the staff are great
Really friendly Landlady.
Good selection of beer, cider and spirits.
Decor is interesting.
Understand that they have live music from time to time, unfortunately we didn't get to experience any during our stay in the city.
Excellent atmosphere and affordable prices
Wonderful beer and local peaceful guys
Proper pub... Happy staff, friendly locals and you can still buy a pint for under £3...Love it 🍻👍🏼🍻
Hidden gem. Pints under £3, awesome juke box, nice lighting and a great owner.
Lovely pub, cheap prices, and nice staff what more do you want
Brilliant pub. Lovely staff, great boozer. So cheap. Recommend it thoroughly. Update: remains a brilliant pub. Friendly and cheap. Update: thankfully no change. This pub remains friendly, we'll run and CHEAP!! Really great boozer with salt of the earth clientele (without wishing to sound posh). Teresa is great as is the landlord. A definite inclusion on the Hotwell Rd crawl. Update: The Mardyke continues to be a splendid boozer. Managed brilliantly. It's friendly, cheap and a great place to visit
Cheap beer, good bar service and a great atmosphere. Busy at 7pm on Saturday evening.
Great staff, friendly atmosphere, cheap cider!!
Very friendly staff, nice little pub, cheap drinks.
Legendary pub , with famously low prices for decades , a proper free house boozer !! Enjoy (:
Great price beer £2.40 pint ..
Good cheap beer friendly atmosphere
Reading other reviews, No nonsense pub is spot on. The place is very close to the harbour side while being away from the centre's hussle and bussle
marking the place down for style points and impressing friends is laughable 🤣
Cheapest place I've visited in forever
Reasonable selection of choice
Why can't more places offer such great value?
Love the atmosphere, great Guinness. Friendly bar staff and everyone happy to chat. Nice decent local with good prices, with a diverse cliental.
At the left hand side of the pub was, as far as I know, a newly opened cafe. The food was quite good and well priced. For a cafe in this position on a major road into the city it seems to be holding its own. It deserves a chance to succeed, so a try out won't hurt your wallet or your cordon blur tastes.
Busy local in Hotwells. Good beer and service. Friendly cllientelle.
Good beer, good service friendly clientele
A very local pub and very cheap for drinks!
Great real pub and cheap
Great pub good selection of drinks and friendly staff very helpful and cheap as chips
Excellent old fashion pub.
Excellent range of beers and ciders.
Great prices to.
Great Pub friendly Bar staff cheap beer 🍻 what more could you want 😁👍
Great pub cheap drinks and friendly. Busy on a Friday with a jukebox and music. What more do you need
it must be the cheapest pub in bristol change out of a tenner for 3 pints un heard of lol 😆 rough and ready just how it should be
Best pub in the city and the cheapest what else can I say
No change simply the cheapest and best in the city
Great place and a varied bunch of customers. Staff always lovely, drinks very, very reasonable. Great juke box, probably not the best place to bring children as it's quite adult orientated. Nearby there is a thai, great curry house and good transport links. A Bristol institution.
Great atmosphere, good beer and price
Great pub. Great tasting Blackthorn. Really good atmosphere 😀
A good drinking pub - prices are low and the atmosphere is friendly. I believe they have a knack for negotiating better brewery deals. The pubs reputation stems from the bikers that used to frequent it big-time but it's a long time since I've seen all the bikes lined up on the Hotwells Road out the front. If you're planning on touring the harbour-side pubs, this one is close to one of the ferry stops.
Real locals place. Spit and sawdust sort of place with a vintage feel to it. But that's why it's unique. Drinks are good value there, good atmosphere and good place to watch the sport. Has a good choice of bar snacks as well.
Very nice, staff very friendly. And very clean.
Arrived late on Saturday night and still serving. Very cheap, two drinks £3.60 (One a pint)can't beat that. Friendly people and bar staff, could be a good night out I reckon.
Really friendly staff and very clean toilets and cheap beer.
Good old fashioned pub. Good cider house however has something for everyone. All pints under £3
I can't believe how cheap this place is. It is Wetherspoons cheap without the large chain feel, similar customers in the day though. On the weekend and on a sunny evening it is a very busy pub indeed, largely due to the value and the evening sun spot but also due to it's location on one of the main routes into the centre of Bristol. Great pub for a cheeky pre night out pint.
Cheap drinks, great atmosphere, friendly service!
Lovely warm friendly fantastic pint
Friendly pub, Robert a great entertainer
And staff great,
Can buy a round of drinks cheaper than in other parts in Bristol will cost 2x more. Great night out.

Very cheap drinks, especially Bob beer at £1.90 a pint. Good place and atmosphere. Highly recommended
Looks grotty from the outside, inside isn't any better. Only the brave will step inside. Would pop in for a drink as it's very cheap but with the stinky and dirty locals i wouldn't take anyone here to impress them. If you have kids then stay well clear!!
Great boozer, great staff, great atmosphere.
Really good fun pub and sensible prices.
I,m there tomorrow.
Jazz man Jazz. Bristow oldest Jazz venue, this place should be on an jazz 🎺lovers radar, 3 piece, barber shop, quartet, local ale and a great vibe. Placed in bristles mind Street area, as a bristolian never tire of visiting this iconic quarter.

Love it. Respect throughout, and lots of banter .. Keep up
Really nice traditional pub vibe. Service was carried out Covid safe.
It's a proper pub. You go there to drink beer (or cider) and chat. Why bother doing anything else?

Went in there tonight(19th July 2015),Rob(Bar Tender) hit a GIRL,gave her a black eye and a split lip, even laid the boot in when she was on the ground,The landlord also had a go at her as well, old bill did nothing????
