Old school pub . Not a place if you want fancy decor, but is a place if you want chatty locals , great bar staff , live music on a friday and Saturday, darts and a 50p pool table . I personally loved the place

The Railway Tavern is a genuine local pub, which is a bit of a rare thing nowadays, and offers three real ales on hand pumps, plus popular lagers, cider and Guinness etc. Darts is a popular game here, and there are two dart boards. There is now a pool table! Several televison screens around the pub show football and/or rugby, when it is on. The Bristol to Bath cycle way is only up the road, so getting here is easy, and cyclists are most welcome....well..everyone is most welcome actually! Anyway! I like this pub and it's mix of local (and not so local) people, and have spent many a happy hour (or more) here!

The only downside to this pub is the lack of vegetarian or vegan options. There's sides or Mac and cheese that are ok to eat if vegetarian. They've got a lovely garden and the staff are very friendly. The pub is also dog friendly and have water bowls for them too, just ask for one.

Whilst the castle itself is I'm sure, interesting (it dates back to 1593) my experience was with a meal rather than accommodation. We took our places at 2 tables in the garden (9 of us, so they couldn't really miss us!) & had to go and ask for menus - then tell them when we were ready to order. We asked for the one starter to be brought at the same time as the main meals - it wasn't! 4 reminders were needed before a diet coke arrived! Food was good and well presented - but the service did let them down!

A lovely friendly local pub. The atmosphere is great the staff are very friendly. No matter how busy it is you don't have to wait very long to be served. The live bands on a Friday and Saturday night are always good. It's a great place and always very welcoming 😊

Popped in for a quick pint and ended up staying for the most amazing curry! All the staff are lovely, food was so good and reasonably priced can't fault it. Perfect place to stop with the bikes if you've been out on the Bristol to Bath cycle path as they have a big garden. Check. It. Out!

Come on,what can l tell you?......well,a lot actually.lf you want a drink go to a pub,but if you want a drink and listen to some great local music ,played live then this is a choice destination,friendly if that's your thing,good service and l am told,really good food choices and just the right side of quirky as to not offend.l like it and in my humblest opinion,so will you.Must give a shout out for the band,waited a longtime to see them again,Covid and cancer curtailing my actions and mobility somewhat.Now we all cry freedom so off l toddled to listen to Snatch It Back,trio,brilliant musicians,pleseant to speak to,made the night for me.Book them again( Pub)see them anytime you can ( Pub goers).So in conclusion give the Railway and the band your serious consideration.

Been here loades of time but not for a while since covid. It was very quiet table service only and the staff were on the ball bit pricey compared to my local but I would go back even if just to sit in the garden which catches the sun nicely

We had friends visiting from Ireland that weekend; and after the previous night out in the city centre everyone decided to stay local and was hungry. We tried few places for food (which were full); and were advised to try the old railway tavern. And oh my how good it was!!! The friendliest service ever! Me being the only vegan in the group, I was happy to have some chips. I don’t expect Pubs to provide me vegan roast; and I don’t ask for one. As our group got split up for a little bit; I came in to that pub & one of my friends already inquired about vegan options. They had none. However! Chef made the most beautiful cauliflower steak ever! With all the trimmings too!!! I sat there eating my “roast” with my friends. Btw, everyone in our group of 6 were delighted with their meals. And I’ve already suggested that place to others; and I’ll definitely be back again

First time visit.. My kind of pub, Oasis B sides on the jukebox, great set up for darts, great selection of cider and the food smelt beautiful (didn't actually see it). Will be a Wednesday night venue for darts going forward.

Traditional pub. Definitely different from weatherspoons. Garden needs tending. Pole of the umbrella needs cleaning. Food reliable. Friendly. Value for money.

Everything looks ok and tastes ok, I would eat there again but I massively begrudge paying £5.50 for 4 absolutely miniscule 'burger crostini's' barely worth £2 and they used bucket loads of non-recyclable packaging.

Had a very nice time at the railway tavern. It has a nice vibe to the place, clean beer, garden staff looked happy and the music was good playing 80s madness,dance floor was packed, eveyone I saw was enjoying them selfs even has a out smoking area.
