Reviews of The Ship
M. G.
Lovely views, very clean. Only serve food at lunchtime (12-2). We didn't receive a very warm welcome and pub was very quiet for 1pm on a Saturday. Closed in the afternoons. On the plus side they have lovely views over the Bristol channel.
N. W.
Stunning. Just go there. They don’t make ‘em like this no more!
D. W.
This is a local pub beyond compare. I love it here with friendly staff and local customers. Excellent facilities and views across the Bristol Channel
J. R.
Great, traditional pub. Very knowledgeable landlord so if you want to learn about local history it's worth a visit. Children are welcome to sit outside only (so not inside) so, if like me, you want a quiet drink this is your pub.

Real pub, Clean. Friendly knowledgeable Landlord who's been running it for years. Fantastic sea views, the food is good value for money. Steak chips & peas £9.50p :) well kept bar. Award winning gardens, great place to sit outside in the summer. Ideal spot to enjoy a pint after a coastal walk. I'll be back.

This is an old traditional English pub with a beautiful view

Went yesterday with a mate for a pub lunch .
Proper pub as they used to be. Steak was was fantastic, Stella was well chilled . A result me thinks?? Go check it out ? Cheers Steve

Very old school. Don't expect up to the minute decor or an extensive menu. This is not a theme pub, it's not dressed up to be something it's not. It's a good, honest pub where you will get a pint that's as good as you'll get anywhere.
Food served lunchtime only.
Big car park.
Stunning views over the Bristol Channel.
Very hospitable landlord.
Very reasonable prices.
Pay by cash or card.
Nowhere better to sit and watch the sun go down over a glass of your favourite tipple.
R. B.
Lovely oldschool pub, highly recomended.
C. E.
A lovely pub, good beer and splendid views - more people should try it.
J. G.
The view on a sunny day is magnificent ..Nice friendly pub. Limited menu of only five things.
M. C.
A pity they do not serve food in the evening - very pleasant garden for a drink
E. F.
Great pub, nice landlord and good food, what more do you want.
D. B.
I quite liked this pub. Old fashioned interior decor and landlord. Drinks were good value and decent. Seating was comfortable, outside seating area is pleasant. Bar snacks are good. The landlady was slightly moody when I asked when closing time was. Again take cash as he doesn't accept card(fair enough). Car park is spacious as well. Definitely worth a visit and would go there again.

Great place to go for a drink with friends. I believe they serve hot food, but I haven't got any direct experience myself. The bar staff are so friendly and helpful.
M. T.
This is a great pub with fantastic views , good range of drinks cheaper than most pubs , Vic the landlord is such a knowledgeable person regarding the local area , visit and see for yourself.

Found the Ship purely by chance. The gods must have been smiling upon us last Thursday! Not only was The Ship a delight, But the weather was amazing and we sat outside with the dogs(very welcome with plenty of fresh water). Beautifully presented pub, but has managed to keep the feel of a REAL local. Wish I had a hostelry like this locally. As we were dining at our hotel in the evening, we just had salads, which were delicious.
J. B.
Old school pub, old school landlord. Perfect
S. C.

Very special Portishead pub. Hasn't changed at all since I was a young 'un. Quality of beer generally unmatched in the town.

I loved this pub . it's a throw back to another era . MY ERA . Vic the landlord is always smartly dressed complete with shirt and tie. a marvellous host by any standards . ales are superbly kept ,myself I plumped for the bass which was superb . if your in the portishead area do yourself a favour call into the ship and see vic if your an ale drinker you definitely won't regret it .

Quaint cosy neighborhood pub. Good beer, frozen food- forget eating there.
Asked for medium rare steak but I guess they all turn out well done haha (the cook had even cut the steak to check). G' Maps had it down as a 'gastropub' haha. Alarm bells should have rung when there was hardly anyone was eating Sunday lunch.
Go for the beer and sit outside for a view of the Severn (over the houses). Cash only.
J. P.
Lovely views and good food. Landlady and landlord friendly and good hosts.
J. S.
Had a lovely gammon for lunch ,proper gammon not cheap muck served to you. Lovely and cooked fresh to order
J. C.
Some love it, some dont. I am on the fence. There is something about never moving with the times (no cards) that is quaint... And irritating in equal measure. Its old fashioned, but still serves drinks in comfortable surroundings. Loos need a refurbishment ..
S. D.
Blast from the past....1980s love it and the beer is exceptional
P. C.

K. H.
Outside only at the moment, but well run social distancing
J. B.
Friendly service only cider is Thatcher's used to serve Mallets which is far better!
S. T.
Very tidy gardens with outside tables and chairs with views of the Bristol channel. Somewhat limited opening hours and limited food menu only available at lunch time. I understand that mobile phones are frowned upon and children are not allowed but cannot confirm this is true.
Pleasant landlady and comfortable clean interior.
S. D.
Good hearty food and traditional ales

(Translated) Way too quiet, we were the only guests at lunchtime. Food was fine.
(Original)
Veel te rustig, wij waren de enige gasten tijdens lunchtijd. Eten was prima.
