Reviews of The Windmill Inn, Portishead
R.
Lovely food! Great atmosphere. Would recommend if your down this way but I would suggest to book in advance as we did and couldn't get a table until a little later than planned.
C. J.
Hard to fault the Windmill Inn. It is a large bar and restaurant split over three levels and outdoor terrace with outstanding views of the Portishead coast, 2nd Severn Crossing and the coast of Wales. The menu offered plenty of choice and the three dishes we tried were all well executed and served promopty. The dog welcome station was a nice touch. It's a popular place so definitely book ahead and tell them if you want a dog friendly table or a seat with a view. Plenty of parking and nice walks for the dogs.
J. G.
Absolutely lovely. So welcoming and friendly, (especially for our dogs )Lovely food, beautifully cooked and presented, fast service too. Sea views and atmosphere awesome too!...... highly recommended!
A. P.
Great food, great service and a great view all across to Wales. Food came very quick, and was really nice. We had the fish and chips and burger meals and all plates were empty. Many thanks.
S. S.
What a lovely place to eat.
Loved the decor, great service with helpful staff and a fantastic view across the Bristol Channel through the large windows.
The food was fantastic!
We highly recommend a walk along the sea front and eating here.
S. P.
Gorgeous outdoor patio area with lots of seating and great views. Only downsides were there weren't any zero calorie mixers and the beer was a strange choice but we found other drinks very easily!
V. V.
I like their garden where you can sit on a different levels so no one insist the view of the River Severn and the Prince of Wales bridge. There's a lovely field next to the pub, a nice place to walk your dog after the food. Nothing special with food tho.
T. W.
Superb views, lovely service by the staff. Drinks refreshing. Food is competitively priced for the atmosphere. I am somewhat of a burger connoisseur and found for £15 the burger and chips were excellent value. Large burger and cooked to perfection. Chips are delicious and some of the best we have had. My partner had the haddock and loved it.
C. K.
Haven't tried the food yet but the service was excellent, the interior very clean and comfortable. But it's the location we go for here.
R. P.
Great venue, food choice was wide and varied. There is plenty(!) of seating available throughout both inside and out. Plenty of drink choices. Views were fantastic across the Severn estuary and made an excellent background to lunch. Although we hadn’t booked the staff were very helpful in organising an accessible table for our party of 8.
Accessibility was very good. Flat entrances and access to different levels of the building. Lifts inside made more of the building accessible. Plenty of room between tables and the toilets were of a good accessible standard.
N. L.
Excellent food, with a good menu. We had a great table in front of the main window. Would have been five stars, but our waiter wasn’t the best, nevertheless we would certainly return.
a. b. l.
Food lovely, can take doggy family too. Lovely location and all but one gentleman member of staff lovely. Would have been nice for this man to acknowledge us on a night, when they had no customers and we had just spent £40. I believe it’s customary to say goodnight when 2 of your remaining 6 customers leave
G. E.
Can't fault the place. Service was fantastic (especially Michael). Food was hot, tasty and portion size was well worth the money. Stunning views. Lovely afternoon spent there. Will happily return
D. S.
The best bit about the Windmill is the view. The location is fantastic.
The service is OK if a bit slow, although the staff are always lovely.
The food is very average - and they really need to put a Caesar salad, and/or some other salads back on their lunch menu. Everyone I take there always wants one and they can never accommodate.
N. W.
We had a lovely meal overlooking the water. The staff were very welcoming and the air conditioning was very welcome. The water station and biscuits for the dog was a nice touch and appreciated by Jack Russell. We would definitely recommend a visit and will visit again.
A.
Haven't been to the Windmill for many years as we moved away. Having been allowed out again we arranged a visit, our friends booked the table we were very impressed with the improvements, very spacious and airy with a choice of dinning areas. The staff were all very helpful, the Covid 19 precautions were in place and the food was very good. I would definitely recommend The Windmill
c. a.
Excellent evening, entertained by 4 actors performing a scaled down version of, Charles Dickens, a Christmas Carol.
Well done to Fullers, for once again supporting the 'open bar theatre'.
This is the 3rd performance given by 'open bar theatre, my wife and I have attended at, the Windmill. Will definitely be on the look out for future events too. Highly recommended.
G. W.
Absolutely beautiful views of the River Seven and Wales.
Service couldn't fault it,food was out of this world, highly recommend the fish and chips and minted peas. Good prices and excellent menu, great choices and a vegetarian menu available.
l. s.
Suburb location and incredible views accross the Severn Estuary. Service is impeccable and food is delicious - I highly recommend.
C. D.
Excellent views , tasty well- prepared food but too expensive for what it is, and portion sizes are too small, especially the main-course linguine, which was merely the size of a starter and therefore poor value. Staff are confident and seem well-trained. Worth a one-off visit, but not a return.
K. S.
Location absolutely beautiful request a window seat so you can overlook the estuary.
Food, ok nothing outstanding and expensive for what it is.
Service - this for me and my friend made the experience a 4 star, young waitress called Maisie, who was honest, funny and an utter delight to talk too, if the tip went directly to the server and not the whole team, the tip would have been quadrupled! Maisie is a credit to the windmill and we will be back for that reason.
J. N.
A good meal, many sweets unavailable, the air con was so cold- shame they couldn't turn it off when we asked. The coffee tasted of washing up liquid, they did change it for a new one. Lovely view though!
S. J.
Excellent location, one of our favourite views and not one to be missed, however sadly we've been a few times and the food is a bit of larry let down. So much potential menu wise, however considering the price it lacks creativity substance and flavour. There are competitors on the marina only a few minutes away who have similar price points, but provide a more thought out food menu, we'll be sticking to their from now on for food. Also air conditioning units felt like we were sat in the artic! Apologies for the honesty but makes us sad that every time we keep giving it another go we walk away disappointed.
M. B.
Beautifully cooked food, an ample selection on the menu, stunning vistas and a warm friendly atmosphere makes this the perfect table for 2 location. Whether it’s a romantic evening or a cheeky lunch escape your in for a treat. Highly recommended
C. D.
Nice staff. Food was ok but expensive. Chips covered in salt, slightly over fried scampi (almost£15) £10 for breaded chicken with salad leaves. Hard bits in minted peas.
P. D.
Update..had the Sunday Roast two days ago. Fantastic.. couldn't fault the food. I think they have brought the old chef back..phew! From a few months ago.."Beer is decent ..great views. Food can be hit and miss" No longer I hope!
J. H.
Had a good meal here with an old friend, the food was good as was the service. Nice to see the place reasonably busy too, especially on a midweek lunchtime.
D. B.
First visit in quite a while. Great pub with lovely views. Enjoyed lunch…good to see lunchtime busy.
T. M.
Absolutely amazing food! Couldn’t fault anything. Hannah was absolutely lovely as-well! Will definitely come back!
S. R.
Nice surroundings, good food st reasonable prices. Shame about the fog as we had been told that views were great.
D. “. N.
This pub has a very friendly atmosphere with plenty of space on three floors along with quite a large out door seating area. The food was particularly enjoyable too and was great value too. The views out to the Bristol Channel only add to the experience, this venue is well worth a visit if you are in the area.
C. C.
Excellent service, food was tasty. Well worth a visit, views from the rear of the pub very spectacular.
J. E.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at The Windmill.
The tables are sensibly spaced out allowing for patrons to move about comfortably.
The staff are friendly, efficient and professional. The food was delicious. Our group all had different options from the menu and everyone was well satisfied with their choice.
There was a wide choice of refreshment which was sensibly priced.
The views from our table looking over towards Wales offered a wonderful backdrop.
It is well worth a visit.
G. G.
Popped in as in the area for a sunday lunch, staff were friendly and helpful, we hadn't booked but found us a table. We weren't sat by the windows but if you are the views are fantastic. The sunday lunch was ok, could have been hotter, would return but would have something else.
K. t.
Fantastic everything:-) staff, atmosphere and view. Always very busy but no doubt very good food is the reason. Today again, we finished our Sunday walk there for Midday apperitif
r. b.
Good menu choice, great views from restaurant and excellent service
L. H.
Always enjoyable, food delightful and definitely always a restaurant with a view worth every penny
L.
This can be an amazing pub. It has stunning views and some lovely, dog friendly staff but they keep moving the goal posts all the time. One day you can eat outside, the next day you can't. One day they're serving the sandwich menu, the next day they're not. Food service can also end really early and some days the food is fantastic whilst other days it's deffo pre made and heated through from frozen. It's such a shame as the potential to be a consistently fantastic local destination seems to be just out of reach.
N. W.
Empty pub, we stopped by for drinks at 4:30pm and they would not let us sit in a seat with a view “reserved for diners only”. We were stuck by the toilet in the bar area. Really poor form. And of course, all the view seats were still empty when we left.
P. G.
Okok so the views are great. You’re going to do much better in this part of the country are you? Well unless you count the medips or something but im talking pub views here!
But sadly the service was lacking, the food overpriced and really nothing to it. A shame as we cane over the pandemic and were so impressed. So yeah. If you want a pub with a view go here. If you want a great food experience please so elsewhere.
J. T.
We met for lunch with family from Devon, Cardiff and Oxfordshire. Great venue suitable for children with excellent wheelchair access. The food was good and the service helpful and friendly. The menu could have been clearer on what was gluten free. Good beer. We will be back.
C. P.
I booked a table for myself and a friend who had not visited Portishead before. We had a table by the window and enjoyed the beautiful views of the channel, the weather was perfect. The food was excellent, with attentive service. I have visited this place for many years and is always 'a place to impress' .......many thanks.......
k. d.
As they say beautiful view nice place to sit have a beer and relax
B. U.
Only serving food upstairs/ inside. Beautiful day, we wanted to enjoy the weather and have lunch. There were no tables left upstairs on a Wednesday lunch time and they werent serving food downstairs or outside. Was a shame. Couldn't find any staff to ask about it all
L. M. S.
Modern building with lovely views over the Avonmouth river. We went there to see an Open Air theatre production. This was set indoors by their large windows overlooking the river. Worth a visit in the good weather. Drinks on the pricey side.
E. G.
Great food, great drinks and a great view... plenty of parking and right next to the coastal path to work off the large portions of food... staff are welcoming which tops off this coastal gem
R. C.
Fabulous views across the Bristol Channel and up to the Severn Bridges. Very good food. Good menu selection. Friendly service. Totally recommendable.
R. A.
A very disappointing Roast. Advertised as pink beef, but wasn't at all. Beef was tough and chewy and well over cooked. Only two potato's too. Veg and pots were nice though.
B. C.
Great view, fairly average english menu. Shame they had a new menu and half the items were not available, the waiter was clearly embarrassed but pushed his way through the situation.
R. M.
Lovely views and great staff.
M. E.
Good food, decent price, but the automatic back door opened every time the dog tied up outside wagged it's tail. So every 15 seconds! Wear a fleece!
M. B.
Very helpful staff, especially where my mother-in-law was concerned, as she was in a wheelchair.
Good food as well, and lovely views over the estuary.
N. W.
Really good dessert. Sunday dinner was small and they left out the cauliflower cheese without informing us and it was not obvious that they had added extra of something else.
D. C.
Fantastic meal. Michael and his team were attentive and efficient generating a relaxed atmosphere with great food.
A. F.
Lovely view, good food with massive portions. Good size car park too! Will definitely return soon.
A. D.
Have visited several times, always had good food, garden is lovely for a drink after walking the dogs along the coastal path
C. S.
A truly lovely place to visit. Friendly welcome, we had a lovely meal there. Came out on lovely hot plates. And it's reasonably priced. Plus the views on a sunny day are fabulous. Beautiful view of Wales . Lots of lovely outdoor space too,the same goes for inside the pub
L. W.
Nice Sunday lunch. Good service .
Beautiful location
J. P.
Amazing food. 😋 😋 😋 😋 Amazing service. Very friendly. Amazing views especially on a lovely sunny day (as outside tables)or even a day when not sunny .. Yet the weather calm. Still the views are clear to see across over to Wales 🏴. A beautiful place and the interior is quality too. I would definitely recommend this place for a day out. Ask for a window table if the weather forecast isn't OK to sit outside because still lovely and very relaxing too. Overall this place is excellent. Highly recommended. 💯. Enjoy. And i will definitely be going back again for the Nut Roast. Plus they cater for food allergies and are very accommodating. To alter anything. (& a plastic container to take anything bk wv you that you just might not of been able to squeeze in 😉) Parking is good also. (the toilets are clean) and just a beautiful place to treat your friends to tasty foods of All kinds. Go treat yourself ladies and gents!!! 😉
R. R.
Nice out- the- way place. Good food. Great service. Maybe just a tad expensive.
C. B.
Views are wonderful watching boats on the Severn. Menu limited, simple, not over generous, and paid £18 for bitter lemon, small individual tasty pie with very little meat, with small portion of veg. Service bit slow, lots of outdoor seating on terraces. Paying for the location really.
D. M.
A perfect place for a family meal. Nice astonishing view of the sea, prince of Wales bridge.
R. M.
Good food, fair price.
I asked for no ice in my drink but got ice, otherwise it would have been 5 stars
M. B.
We only called in for morning coffee, but received a lovely warm welcome. We were shown to a table with stunning estuary views. The coffee arrived promptly and was served with a smile.
A. W.
Nice weather so good to sit out on the terraces at the back looking over the Severn estuary to Wales.
Outside area needs some repair/tidying up in places.
Food was very nice but found the cost of drinks excessive... Pint of Peroni £6.15 and large Pino Blush wine £7.15
B. F.
Really friendly staff
Great view
Limited menu choices, the food is lovely
J. B. (.
Top restaurant, good food, excellent ales, fabulous views, highly recommended.
B. a.
Fantastic views, great watching tide and ships, good modern pub food average and some service below average, but overall likeable and worth a visit
P. B.
Food excellent and staff .but between courses a bit. Slow comeing out .had started .them 20 min be for main meal out xx nice place beautiful views to look at xx
M. M.
Lovely looking pub and fab views. Service depends entirely on who you speak to... Some are grumpy others are lovely. Food is ok, not more, not less.
P. P.
Excellent food, very good staff, our first visit, will return
H. W.
Some friends & I only meet up once or twice a year and for the last few times we have chosen to have a meal at the Windmill Inn. We chose to return because we have had good meals here each time. Unfortunately on this occasion we weren't impressed. Firstly, we thought it seemed more expensive (or maybe fewer options at the lower end of the scale) than before. Secondly, having chosen the rump steak at £14.25, on ordering we were told that there were no mushrooms. So I enquired as to what would replace the one indicated on the menu but the person taking the order didn't know. As it turned out NOTHING replaced it. As well as this our medium-sized cooked steaks were more rare (slightly-running blood is more 'rare' than ' medium', in my book). The steak was also very chewy and hard to cut, and also had several gristly bits. One of our party wasn't enjoying it at all, so left most of it (see photo).
The staff did offer her the choice of another steak, or a free drink or pudding.
All in all, our steak meals were a disappointment - the standard I'd expect if I was paying £10.95, perhaps. The fish & chips was 'very good'. The Hunters Chicken was 'fine but a bit dry'.
We won't be returning here in a hurry, unfortunately.
A. Q.
A total gem. Food is awesome and a wonderful atmosphere and amazing views of the Bristol channel and Wales
T. C.
We all had good meals here. I had a really tasty ploughman's and they had snacks for the dog too.
S. j. R.
Excellent place to eat ,drink for all the family
Prices are a little higher but you get what you pay for and it's always top quality and service from excellent friendly staff.
Lovely views and lovely walks right there on the doorstep
I would recommend the Windmill Inn
To all
S. G.
The most beautiful views from any pub anywhere, I reckon !
J. C.
Great food. Reasonably priced. Fantastic view across estuary. Unfortunately automatic door to varanda area not working so not easy to open when you have a tray of drinks!
S. F.
Freshly decorated, stunning view, dog friendly, lovely touches like dog biscuits and bowls easily accessible, and great food.
D. H.
Friendly service, amazing food and views that cannot be beaten on a sunny evening.
L. G.
Food was delicious had the burger 🍔 & if you manage to get a table upstairs by the window the views are beautiful
M. S.
Nice pub good food. On the edge of the Severn with views over to wales. Large car park and garden.
C. P.
Stunning outlook over the Severn estuary - some inconsistent rules sometimes over whether you can eat outside however! Otherwise good
N. A.
Location is spectacular, views of the estuary.
Food is not exceptional, but good value.
P. H.
Lovely food and scenic views
J. M. M.
Fantastic food excellent service, well worth a visit, on top of it all an outstanding view.
D.
The food was good, it was a pleasant atmosphere and the staff were all very polite and friendly.
Only minor gripe was the distinction between the main menu and the child's: my friend had inadvertently picked the child's menu and had decided on a pasta dish, to be informed that it was a child's portion and there wasn't an adult equivalent available... As if putting double the food onto the plate was problematic.
P. M.
That estuary view is unique and excellent! Food, atmosphere & service did not detract from that view.
G. E.
Beautiful food, great service and superb views. Highly recommend
M.
Top roast dinner at a reasonable price. Pub very well kept it was very clean and tidy staff were brilliant.
S. R.
Lovely pub. We had a meal in the restaurant area which has splendid views of the river Severn. Michael, who served us, was an absolute star - attentive, polite and charming. Stu and Katie
A. W.
Nice enough family friendly pub and restaurant. The menu is standard pub grub. It was very busy on Saturday afternoon when we visited a few weeks ago. Not bad but not worth travelling miles to get to.
A. G.
We had a lovely walk on the beach, then super food at the Windmill. Just the ticket after digging for seagrass. The burger was so lovely and with a winter salad instead of chips, I didn't feel to guilty. Thanks
r. g.
over-priced food for what it was,
nice staff, good views
won't go again
S. B.
Called in for a late lunch the restaurant was pretty full however, we were warmly greeted and a table for two was quickly found.
My husband had the steak which was cooked to perfection, l had the vegetarian pie which was delicious.
The service was impeccable and the staff friendly, we are never disappointed when going for a meal at The Windmill Inn and highly recommend..
R. S.
Great pub with a wonderful view of the estuary in the front window. Great food and lovely atmosphere.
M. V.
A really nice and friendly place, the staff and service was excellent, with good hot food, all with a quick service, and if you get there early enough a good view of the Bristol channel.
W. M.
Great place to be with family for meal and nice sea 🌊 view around!
П. С.
Very good service and very nice food. Well done
M. L.
A fantastic location and great food with 5* service by all staff.
L. H.
Awesome atmosphere view food and great service
J. B.
The Windmill pub has been a family "go to" for years, with its warm atmosphere, reliable food and great views of the Severn (complete with the occasional "big boat" to watch). The pub has continued to grow and improve since I've lived here and now boasts excellent quality food as well as great service without losing its charm.
T. M.
Magnificent view and very nice scenery but unfortunately it was raining. The personel were very friendly.
J. C.
Lovely location and views across the Bristol Channel, especially at sunset. Food and drink is quite good but I think a bit overpriced. Nice helpful staff. Very popular so advisable to book ahead on an evening.
L. J.
Amazing view, staff were very quick and friendly serving us but dissapointed in 2 of the roasts we had turkey wasn't the best and roast potatoes very dry. All other meals and puddings were excellent and enjoyed. We would visit again
R.
Just to start with, what a view!
A table was booked for 11 of us. Due to covid, I think, (I didnt book the table) we were spilt over two tables, couldn't be helped. It was a great atmosphere, good service, and tasty food, the portions were a good size. I think we all had Sunday roasts. I had the pork roast, the crackling was so good. My youngest who is 10, who normally has an adult meal, was fine with the children's roast, it was quite large. It is a dog friendly restaurant. We sat at the top level, and the view was amazing, looking out towards Wales. Would definitely recommend for family and couples.
R. W.
This is the best restaurant/ pub for miles around and I've been coming here time and time again with friends & family and my beautiful wife Valerie on a few occasions since 1984 and the food is Superb.
The staff are so courteous and knowledgeable about the food you will love all their recommendations including the specials menu too.
The food 10/10 Staff 10/10 Service 10/10
Ample parking 10/10 & also a dog friendly pub if your in the area for a scenic walk afterwards.
B. H. (. D.
Great quality food, friendly professional staff and stunning location.

My friend had turkey and was very impressed.
Good value..great coffee..
A. F.
Great pub/restaurant with fab views and plenty of local walks to do before you sit down for food and drinks. Also has a big car park.
C. C.
Beautiful spot for a pint in the sun.

Views to die for, excellent service and lovely food. A great find.
G. H.
Stunning view while relaxing with a drink and some bar snacks. It doesn't come better.
B. B.
Beautiful views, amazing food.
Lots of seating outside and very comfortable seating inside.
J. L.
We went to the Windmill this week for the first time in a couple of years and yes it is a good pub with wonderful views. Sadly the same thing lets it down as it did a few years ago and that's the food. We paid £13.95 for sea bream but it was the tiniest piece of fish we have ever had. Staff were really apologetic and said they had had a few complaints this week about the size of the fish. Such a shame as it tasted very good but just extremely small.
S. E. O.
Good gin selection and ok food. Staff were really lovely. Kitchen closes at weird times so make sure to check!
U. C.
Excellent service (Lizzie), food and drink. Superb location and view. Highly recommended.
K. J.
Love going to The Windmill and the staff were great. Welcomed and didn't have to wait long. This time though the food choice wasn't varied enough to reflect summer and items on the menu felt like they could have been warmed up. I know this isn't usual but didn't want to stay for pudding 😕 didn't want to bother the staff by saying the food was okay because we did eat it and there was nothing wrong with it. Maybe just me being fussy that day.
Would go back again and try again.
M. B.
Went for a meal limited menu and some of them not available . Had to go elsewhere as only on veggie option and no steak Used to have a good variety and pub classics now so limited for our mixed party of veggies steak lovers .Went somewhere else and won't be returning for food .Nice place for a drink
G. C.
Lovely view ok food friendly staff
W. B.
My closest pub to home
Wouldn't call it my local however...
Lovely location, half decent selection of alcoholic drinks.
Food a bit hit and miss - not freshly prepared, frozen.
Staff helpful and friendly
B. W.
Lovely food, ambience and staff. We had a lovely meal with such an amazing view. Thank you
E. H.
Lovely pub over looking water very friendly and helpful staff
A. V.
Went for a lunch time meal with family, the first time out since the first lockdown! The staff were very helpful and service was good. We had a window seat with lovely views of Wales and the Severn bridge. The food was nice and would definitely visit again.
T. G.
Lovely food an beautiful views highly recommended
K. S.
Fantastic Views the perfect food setting excellent
M. W.
Lovely food with a fantastic panoramic view
D. H.
Lovely pub in a lovely location with an awesone view. Sadly no food when we went as the kitchen staff had been pinged, but the London Pride was as good as it usually is. Ordering remotely was easy.
S. L.
Only drank outside - two or three time.
Fabulous location, lovely patio with a great view and really nice staff.
Beer was only OK, though (and being a Fuller's pub, quite expensive). Shame, because a better pint would make this a perfect place.
E. D.
Had the rump steak with peppercorn sauce. Service was good and staff was helpful. steak could of done with a few more mins cooking. however overall very good food will be going back for sure :)
M. S.
The usual good food and welcome at the Windmill. Sunday lunch is always very good.
D. H.
Absolutely awesome service!! Even though they were very busy they managed to find us a table and the service along with the food was brilliant!! Wouldn’t hesitate to visit again
A. B.
Attentive staff, good food , stunning views & dog friendly. What more do you want?
M.
I visited here the other day with friends from East England who had never been to Portishead. The food was outstanding ( I had the lasagne) and customer service efficient and polite. We sat in the window which was great and they felt it was a wonderful experience.
C. S.
Took my 90+ year old Mum out for lunch on the first day of being allowed to eat inside. The meal was spot on (fish and chips) cooked really well, but the icing on the cake was the staff. They were so pleasant, cheerful and a credit to the premises!!!!
C. A. E.
The young staff are friendly and helpful and FAB at their job😊....food was lovely...fab view...wiĺl be back very soon👍
J. S.
Great place with great outlook. We only went for coffee, but staff so friendly and relaxed. Obviously very popular pub as a lot of tables had been reserved for a mud week lunchtime! Service was really nice.
D. C.
Cracking food with great views, well worth a look!!
K. J.
Visited The Windmill last week and yet again excellent food and 5 star service as per usual! Chloe was our server who really went above and beyond to make our visit highly enjoyable! Will be back again soon that's for sure !
P.s. delighted to see new and exciting vegan and veggie options added to the menu :D
S. W.
Lovely meal, very friendly service

Very good food and lovely view!
A. M.
Here for an impromptu meal on a Monday. Specials and steaks were good sized portions and service was timely. A bit frustrating to have no Fuller's beers available. Gorgeous summer evening setting on a terrace with westerly views
K. B.
Amazing views from dining room, more importantly very good for social distance tables, and plenty of hand sanitizer !!!

Lovely place, nice people & delicious food
M. K.
Visited there first time yesterday for our wedding anniversary. Lovely place. Great food. Polite personel. Lots of tables to choose from inside and outside. Clean toilets. Good prices. We had a starter and main plus drink. It was very tasty! We haven't had any dessert coz we were to full. But if we wound like have any we were a bit surprised there wasn't any cakes in menu. There was only brownie or fudge but nothing kind of carrot cake, sponge cake or walnut cake etc. Rest of it it was icecream desserts, which we had before on the day and wasn't interested on having another ice cream. There said on card 'ask stuff for more options' but why the cakes wouldn't be there at first. This is something what we are going to find out next time. Coz defo will back there in some time when visiting Portishead again. Overall very good experience and defo worth it to visit there.
J. P.
What friendly service and you can always be sure of a good meal. Great produce- love the smoked salmon! I'll be back on Saturday
P. H.
We always pop in for a bite to eat if we come this way on a day out. If you ask for a window seat you have great views over to Wales. Always had a nice meal here. You can also sit outside in the garden. If you bring a dog there is a big field right next to The Windmill to walk the dog. Lots of dog walkers use it.
J. A.
The food was excellent and the view was great. Everything was well organised and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The only snag were overcharged, large meal but we had small meals, but the staff soon sorted it out and refunded us with £12.50 so all was well.
S. S.
Food was good service was decent too. Just were idiots for booking a table in November to have a view. Would go back and give 5 stars.
P. J.
Spacious. Very helpful staff. Good food. Well spaced tables. Great view of Severn estuary.
L. W.
The Windmill Inn has become a firm family favourite stop off if we are travelling from the South West. Staff are always nice, food good value (especially the smaller plates), atmosphere is chilled but most of all the view is amazing, especially on a sunny day. Superb place to stretch away from the M5.
R. B.
Enjoyed the food look forward to our next visit
A. C.
Food was ok but not much flavor

October: (2 Star Rating) Came here again in October and a very different perspective: I have rated this place well a number of times before, but unfortunately the quality of the menu and food itself has brought it down to a typical ‘chain’ pub eatery. Standard pub food menu with only 2 pasta ‘specials’ which were all above £10, closer to £15 each. Gone are the previous list of real specials and interesting dishes.
An evening meal for 3 with only main course and a bottle of wine came to £75 - which is expensive for a basic pub meal.
Therefore now it is really only the setting (and the London Pride) that makes it attractive and hopefully it can change back and improve itself...
February: (5 Star Rating) Came here for Valentines Day evening meal and was agreeably surprised to see that tables were set out beautifully and they had table waiting service as well as the lovely view out over the water. There was a special 2 course meal with nice options for £23
The beer and house wine (Shiraz) was wonderful, the food (sea bass and lamb shank) was great, and the table service excellent.
Having lived here for 18 years and come here regularly, this is the first time I have given 5 stars since everything was excellent and a great improvement on previous visits.
Keep it up!

Awesome views, friendly staff, nice food

Lovely pub on the coast with good beers and food
P. H.
Lovely location overlooking the estuary. Plenty of space and very prompt service. Very good food too, oh, and dog friendly.
J. T.
Amazing location accessible from the road or the coast path, awesome 180+ degree views, friendly helpful staff. Good range of well kept beers on draught plus ciders. Good white wine too.
Food served all day from main menu and chalkboard specials. Range has shrunk a bit and quality can be a bit variable. Portion sizes are unpredictable...for example some starters are large, some small (and that can even vary per visit), so maybe ask which is which before ordering as sometimes a starter is a good thing and sometimes it isn't if you want to finish your main or reach dessert.
The pub classics are all great, especially the scampi, but the rest can be a bit hit and miss - the current linguine main course is really bland for example, which was disappointing. More consistency would be great. It's now 3 star not 4 I think, as it's not cheap so you expect better.
P.
It's 4 stars but the staff are great. On the good, plenty of parking, seating and a lovely location with sweeping views. Servicing is fast, staff are friendly and they are excellent in talking through dietary requirements. The bad? The menu is really bland pub stuff, nothing particularly special, it's all battered, all with chips. For a place so strong on caring about dietary requirements why are all the starters battered? Why was the burger so dry and bland? Anyway, tis really nice, just needs a good menu update. 👍
L. G.
Friendly and welcoming staff. Good tables, well spaced some with great views across the water. Food was good and reasonably priced.
A. G.
Really nice well laid pub on a gorgeous site in Portishead. Just off the coastal path from Clevedon, it's a great spot to end a long walk.
P.
Great views, great food and nice beer
A. G.
Stunning views. Great food. Excellent service
a.
"AMAZING PUB' Excellent 👌🏼 staff, Michael & Benn Very professional and friendly, put me at ease, considering I was wearing (HI VIZ)🤣Good fellahhh's... Great Pub, EXPERIENCE THE VIEWS!!! & HOSPITALITY 👌🏼
s. b.
The best roast pork ever. Cooked to perfection.
c. w.
Very disappointed. Booked a week in advance for a nice table to take a friend to.
Sorry that everything has changed especially the menu. We didn't even stay.
M. Y.
Large, Clean with fantastic views of the coast. It's a lovely pub in terms of location and design.
The menu is simple. The food is adequate in terms of taste and size however some items are expensive considering how little you get.
£6 for 4/5 Calamari rings is steep in my opinion .
I would go back again for some drinks but if your looking for a menu that's a little more exciting look elsewhere.
P. D.
Decent menu and reasonable prices. Excellent views over the Bristol Channel to Wales. Lots of comfortable outdoor seating for when the weather is better. Large car park. Can be very busy. I'm a satisfied repeat customer.
C. d. P.
Always an absolute pleasure going to The Windmill. Everything is just perfect and super friendly staff and dog friendly downstairs. Views are also amazing !
J. P.
Excellent food with fabulous view. Portions are large & should have gone for small plate. But staff more than happy to bring some foil to wrap up excess beef. Need to book on a Sunday I would say as all tables in conservatory had reservations. Did online with ease & received acknowledgment email very soon after. Sevice excellent. Would totally recommend.
J. W.
Very friendly staff food great thanks
L. H.
Very cold inside ,very limited menu choices from what i remember in the past .
We didn't stay but we will revisit .
S. W.
Just had the Sunday lunch here with 2 coffees.. Both were excellent.. The roast beef was very tasty and there was plenty of it too.. Also the staff are very polite and attentive.
It's popular so would recommend booking on a Sunday.. especially to get a seat near the massive window that runs along the entire back of the building and overlooking the estuary.. Highly recommended..
J. H.
Good food, pet friendly and scenery to die for. Helpful staff. Strongly recommend
T. M.
Have been coming here for years, mainly to appreciate the great views over the Bristol channel. In recent years, I've found the service and food quality to be somewhat hit and miss especially even more so since Covid struck and we can't order at the bar. This Fullers pub has a great selection of beers, spirits, lagers, ales, ciders, soft drinks etc and decent looking menu. My last visit on a Sunday was, I'm pleased to say, my best visit in a very long time. While we were given the wrong menu and the food took over an hour to get out, the Sunday roasts were excellent (we ordered beef and pork) with huge potions and was very tasty. Staff do seem rushed off their feet and my last experience eating their regular menu wasn't great. But im sure I'll be returning soon enough.
E. N.
Very nice meal and service ;)
S. B.
Great spot on a sunny day to enjoy a drink as the sun is setting.
K. H.
Was so stressful to order food & drinks, although I have an iPhone 11 still couldn’t use the app to order. Used my wife’s iPhone 7 but couldn’t pay because items were out of stock! Food when we finally got it was pretty average, not good value for money. Hope it returns to better times when restrictions are ( when) lifted .
L. B.
Its a lovely setting but let down by the menu which now has very strange choices. Why no jacket potatoes for lunch menu? Shame they can't go back to a more traditional pub grub.
D. C.
Love the Windmill always interesting menu with very good food.
Panoramic views of the Bristol channel surrounded by some open grassy fields that are good for kids to play in and kite flyers!!
Ample parking and modern. Wheel chair accessable.
Sometimes the children's food options seem a little too sophisticated. But maybe it's nice to get away from chicken nuggets and chips!! Which by the way the may have 😀
J. J.
Busy bustling modern place . Went for lunch . Lots of specials on offer I had pie of the day . It was lovely. But the best was the chocolate brownie pudding. Great views of the estuary. I booked online a few days before and it was easy . Table service so you order at the bar which was busy but we didn't wait long for food . Loos clean. Modern and nice soap.
M. M.
I've been eating here for many years. Food is good and the views are spectacular. Would definitely recommend.
A. C.
The food is good quality and the portion sizes are good. Cleanliness of the place is decent. Service can be a bit slow when it's busy but I guess that's to be expected. I'd definitely go back. The view is really good too.
R. A.
Had a very nice meal with friends at the Windmill.
I had Scampi and Chips, ever the adventurous one!! It presented beautifully and tasted great, good value as well. 3 adult meals and drinks only £45.
Stunning views from the rear of the restaurant.
J. M.
We have been to the Windmill many times, but this was our first visit after lockdown.
I hate to say it but we were very disappointed.
We were told there was only one roast left so my husband ordered that and I went for the fish and chips. The after about 5 minutes the waiter told us there was another roast available, so changed order, then told it was too late as our order was ready to come out. Food came with no cutlery so had to ask for that, we waited for a few more minutes before the cutlery finally came. Fish and chips was lovely, roast was not a very good portion. We also had pudding, sticky toffee pudding was gorgeous my husband had the Brownie sundae and it was very lacking in Brownie only a very small piece at the bottom of the glass.
I never write reviews but honestly was so disappointed after really looking forward to going back to the Windmill.
O. P.
Superb location! Wonderful place for sunny evenings.
G. G.
Visited as part of a large group. We all ate and everyone enjoyed their food. The early bird special 3-7pm is especially good value as you have a free desert. The fish & chips and chocolate and pecan tart was great!
M. C.
Beautiful Inn with amazing views and great food. If you are local or passing through it is place to visit and enjoy. Car parking is available.
During the summer and dry days throughout the year there is an outside area for eating, drinking, being merry and appreciating the beautiful clean air and wonderful view of the Bristol Channel.
It is very spacious. However, it does get busy so if you want food might be worth giving them a call beforehand.
Restroom facilities for all and are clean and tidy. Disabled access is available as well.
D. P.
Good food and pleasant staff, located in a wonderful elevated viewpoint position overlooking the sea. Good parking and open space adjacent. Dog friendly. Would recommend..
J. K.
Very friendly service. Just there for a few drinks with distanced work colleagues but staff were helpful and quick to serve.
J. R.
A lovely place to enjoy a special celebration with fab views across the Bristol Channel. Always have some interesting specials and a varied menu with a choice of light bites as well. Staff are friendly and helpful and it's so much better now you can book a table in advance.
p. m.
We called in off chance for a black coffee and superbly looked after cant wait to return
R. S.
Absolutely love this place. We walk to it with the dog who is just as welcome as we are. The view, regardless of the weather, is stunning and the food is delicious!
j. m.
Lovely meal served very quick.
L. O.
Fab pub, great view from upstairs. Open fire. Lovely meals. Quick service at the bar to order food and drinks. Meal appeared in less than 20 minutes, they were well prepared for the Sunday roast rush. Ordered desert and this came fast too. Been once, will go again and again.
H. P.
We've had several lovely meals in this place over the years. Last Saturday we thought we'd treat ourselves to a last meal out before likely new lockdown. Sadly, unlike our previous experience a couple of weeks earlier, this time was not good. Service was very slow, we waited 45 mins to order and at least half an hour for each course. The pavlova, which two of us ordered, was 95% cream, not nice at all. They deducted these from our bill.
By the real issue was that we felt threatened by the close proximity of the maskless waiters, who would repeatedly loom up behind us far too close. It's not a pleasant meal out if you worry it'll put you on ITU!
S. H.
Had a really nice lunch here today with my Mum and daughter. Staff, service, table food and drinks were all perfect. Nothing negative to say.
C. E.
Staff friendly and welcoming, beer very good, however they have just started pre-laying all the tables upstairs for food as if they are a restaurant. Most unwelcoming if you have just popped in for a couple of beers. The Windmill does OK pub food, but it is definitely pub food, certainly not restaurant quality.
P. H.
Lovely Sunday dinner. Nice fresh vegetables at a good price. Not rushed and very clean. Good waiting staff. Would definitely recommend.
C. P.
Excellent service, good value for money, varied menu. Good venue on a warm day, fantastic views accross the channel, but wrap up if windy and sat outside.
M. H.
Its not bad for a chain pub. The staff are helpful and friendly, the food is fine and there are some great views out over the estuary from the main dining room. At the end of the day though, it's a chain so just OK.
K. H.
Always a really reliable and enjoyable lunch stop.
L. T.
Breath taking views from the glass fronted 2nd floor and those breath taking views can take you to the outside seating to enjoy the fresh air or even to walk off your meal in one of the many agacent fields. Staff are very friendly and helpful, everything is clean and tidy AND it's not over priced for the view matching food
j. e.
Visited recently and was led to a table, the waitress took are order and our drinks arrived soon after , would have preferred an app to order and pay , but its a lovely place with good views from the upstairs area
H. P.
The panoramic view of the Severn Estuary as it becomes the Bristol Channel is justification for this pub by itself. The building is designed to seat as many people as possible within sight of the water and it's glorious. The food is also hearty and pleasant.
R. S.
Good food and service, and reasonably priced. Great to meet friends and catch up, with easy parking right outside.
S. K.
Good service! Good food and good value for what you get and its beautiful scenery!
Also good with buggies and wheelchairs as you can go straight round the back and sit inside or out or if you want to sit upstairs theres a stair lift Disabled Parking is close to the entrance door and usually spaces highly recommend
N. P.
Loved the food but the service was low.
L. T.
4.5 🌟
Sunday 12:30 - Probably one the busiest times I imagine. Huge car park with an overflow car park with plenty of space. Wheelchair accessible. Plenty of tables across all dining levels and outside in the summer, although would recommend bookings. Food order que was quite long and did have to wait over 10mins, but the staff were attentive, friendly and asked for my food allergies. Had aged mature beef with all the trimmings and a generous yorkshire on top which came out swiftly, about 10 mins after ordering. Delicious and quality meat that I would absolutely recommend. Sunday Roast was priced between £10.50-£14 which is a solid middle range. There was so much veggie options I actually thought I have a veggie menu which is good. Desserts ranged from £3-£7 which I think is on the higher side especially for a pub. Think it needs to have more special menu's and deals, or maybe I just didn't see any? Because of this my review looses 0.5 stars. Fantastic experience, will return again. Topnotch 👍
C. S.
Birthday dinner. It was a lovely place to celebrate my Mum's birthday! Am sure on a summer day it's a beautiful view.
Portions sizes were excellent (light bites) enough room for pudding! Staff were very acomadating to all of us.
S. B.
Food was lovely. The only reason I rated 4 stars was lack of facemasks. Was surprised to not see any signs stating masks to be worn on entry. As a high risk person this concerned me as lots of customers moving round without masks
M. X. F.
Amazing views BUT management and other customers speaking down to the servers, not nice to hear people being disrespected so badly when they are just trying to earn a living like everyone else. Also we asked at the bar about why some options say PB but not vegan and got a very rude response which made us feel not welcome.
H. H.
Beautiful views out of the all glass wall overlooking the estuary. Excellent menu, well cooked food. Don't be fooled by their "lunch menu" on the website, they do offer a full menu, not just sandwiches and jacket potatoes!
A. T.
Amazing food, very nice staff, fantastic views❤️⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Q. S.
Vefy friendly pub with staff that truly care you have a great experience. I have taken 2 friends there and they both wish a return visit. The sunset views are out of this world. Its a 40mile drive for me a well worth it.
A. M.
The views are very nice, especially on a sunny day. The service wasn't great, they took quite some time to clear the table and the place wasn't too busy. We were disappointed with the desserts as they were quite pricy and the portions very small. Also the quality wasn't great. The coffee was from an automatic machine and wasn't very good. Overall it's just a normal pub as every other but the views to the sea make it more remarkable than others.
R. C.
Just can't beat the location. High up on the hill, whether sitting outside or indoors you get the most amazing view across to Wales and the Second Severn Crossing. Go in the evening in the spring, summer or autumn and you can watch the sun set into the Welsh hills whilst you eat or drink. They have several guest ales on which means there's usually something different to try. The food is OK too, though you can't book a table.
T. L.
The windmill. Is very popular with residents in the Portishead area of Somerset. It's best to make a booking as it's always pretty full. Meals are good portions and you won't be disappointed with the Sunday roasts. The views from the restaurant are breathtaking on a clear day. You can see the coastline of Wales. There where fourteen of us for Sunday lunch considering it was full we got served pretty quickly. Staff were friendly and willing to take photos for us. There are no charges for car parking it's all free 👍
L. M.
Love this place for a big Sunday lunch (although portions have gotten a little smaller recently). Great view, lovely staff and decent price. Does get very busy but that just shows how popular it is!
J. F.
Wonderful views from the top gallery
We really enjoyed the food too.
The chargrilled chicken was delicious. Sinful but delicious.
S. P.
One of our favourite places in normal times. With the beautiful views from the restaurant.
They are doing their best with all the rules. One big worry. Only one toilet open for both men and women. The bigger ones are closed. As it was busy I thought it was a bit worrying.
L. T. (.
Views are amazing, especially on a sunny evening. The building itself is great with stylish interior design. Yet, the food is simply mediocre, so I would say it's a place that is better for just a drink.
S. G.
Great food and great service!!
T. Y.
Nice environment, great views of the Bristol Channel. Wished they kept table service. Food was prompt and staff were friendly.
S. S.
Felt very safe there. Tables were at least 10feet apart. Staff were friendly yet kept their distance. As alway food was very good.
P. B.
Bland veggie options today in vegetarian week, someone needs to taste these before they're put on the menu. My first 3 choices of draft beer were unavailable, but the 4th was good. Great views today, and the pub is very comfortable.
H. W.
Lovely food. Superb service! Had a wonderful time here with family.
D. B.
Simply the best pub I've ever been to. The views are amazing, really nice beer garden. The food there is really nice and have a really nice menu. The decor and seating areas are really nice. Bar staff there are very accommodating and friendly. Strongly recommend this pub.
J. H.
Excellent location, food done to a high standard. Excellent location with beautiful views. Unfortunately attended on 20th march 2016 for a birthday dinner at 7pm. Only to find that all roast were off the menu due to demand. Would have expected at least a call. Table was booked 2 days before. Group of ten. They were apologetic, and what we ended up with was good but not what we were looking forward to. Will be going back but not on a sunday night, have used this location for birthday's and anniversaries for the last 5 plus years.
P. W.
If you ignore everything else, it is worth doing to the Windmill just to watch the sun setting over the Welsh mountains and the Severn estuary. On a clear or lightly closed evening, the sunset is spectacular. The other food news is that you can buy decently priced food and drink here too.
G. B.
Our first visit saturday afternoon. Lovely food, was a tad busy and crammed in but managed to get a table upstairs over looking the sea! It really was lovely! Will definitely be back!!!
G. S.
Wonderful venue..... . Plenty of off street parking very friendly and helpful staff panoramic views excellent food and by far the best disability friendly venue I have been to this year which includes automatic door opening toilets on both levels of the property with a purpose built lift platform to take one person in a wheelchair from one level to another .... my one gripe being a working class lad would be that they don't put enough on your plate but what is on your plate is bursting with flavour
M. A.
This review comes with a caveat, it was Mother's Day when we visited (although I've been before) and was therefore busy. However, most places will be busy and will plan accordingly.
Having said that I'm not going to slate the place! It's a decent enough place, it has fantastic views especially in summer and has plenty of parking. If you have mobility issues you would need to park as close as you can as it's on a steep hill.
When it's busy there's a slow moving queue to order food. It's a big restaurant with lots of tables so it does get busy. This queue isn't helped by the drinks orders being placed at the same time with the server going off to get the drinks. It would be quicker if food was ordered then drinks ordered at the bar and put on the tab. The staff at the food till on our visit was as helpful as anyone could be, he was a star and helped me down with my drinks but it made for a slow moving queue. If you have young kids waiting for their tea and getting narky this is frustrating!
The menu has the usual pub classics but also some options which are a bit more varied and a touch more appealing than the classics. They also have a well populated specials board.
I couldn't decide and went for the default in that situation- scampi and chips! Never fails! However, it did. It was undercooked, pale, soft and not very hot. My partner had the Sunday roast beef and it too wasn't very hot. My mum had the beef also with my step dad having a roasted red pepper lasagne dish. They're too nice to make a fuss (this was my treat!) but I can assume my mum's roast was luke warm too. The lasagne dish looked like it had enjoyed substantial time in the oven so that should have been hot, it looked a bit nuclear! My little lad had kid's fish and chips but left most of it as the "crunchy bit was soft"! The food isn't pretty, no garnishes or anything and nothing in the way of imagination.
To be fair, that sounds pretty scathing but it's not meant to be overly harsh. It's a decent pub with a decent menu with the main draw being the setting but if I'm honest, even if the food is hot, it doesn't quite live up to expectations delivered by the promising menu.
C. S.
Lovely location and nice views.
Dog friendly and child friendly. Its good that the family eating area is downstairs and seperate.
Dogs allowed by the bar only, but you can still eat there comfortably.
The four of us were having a family meal at lunchtime.
Two of us ordered the Lasagna, one had the battered fish and one ordered the pie of the day, which was
mince beef & onion pie.
Our only criticism was that the pie had tomatoes in? Very strange taste for a mince beef & onion pie!
and also we were not keen on the chips! Too big
Prefer handcooked chips please
All in all a pleasant lunch and good value.
Bar staff & waitresses friendly.
Christine, Amanda, Katie & Kyle
D. H.
Nice pub with excellent views, very busy when we visited on a Sunday but found seating in the family area downstairs. We all enjoyed our food and you have the choice of a smaller portion if you want to eat a little less.
M. B.
Infuriated by the extent to which the waitress patronised us (because of our grey hair) with "Are we ready to order", "Did we enjoy that" as she would if addressing children.
N. C.
Went at night, so didn't get to appreciate the views. Food was typical Fuller's food, hearty and tasty. Staff very friendly and welcoming
I. B. (.
Table with a beautiful view. Friendly chilled staff. Served quickly. Had an excellently prepared, chargrilled steak. Tasty hot meal. A fine pint of golden ale. Certainly ticked ALL my boxes.
M.
Nice view but pricey for what you get
J. T.
Amazing view from the garden area, friendly staff, clean and well maintained. Just dont have the crab burger...deep fried rubbish, what a shame!!
C. T.
This used to be a gem of a place and showed how casual eating places should be done. Sadly now the food at best is average "boil in the bag" fare and the drinks prices are frankly outrageous. This is not London's West End! There is the view across the Bristol Channel that saves it but not much else
A. P.
Great views, good seating available even at busy times. Food is on the slightly expensive side for pub grub but the portions are generous and the food is very good quality. Wait times are usually well under 30mins even at Sunday lunchtime.
R. G.
Food not up to standard, exspensive for what you get. Steak okay but lacked juicy ness.half a tomato and one mushroom , chips only warm , partners stewed steak served with mash , no veg , a sprinkle of parsley on mash would have made it look better. In all its certanly not as good as it used to be. Staff fine.
N. P.
Well kept real ale adds to the excellent view. Good food helps too 🙂 especially if you like yummy 'local' halloumi
J. C.
Well. I was disappointed. Fish goujons £20...we're burnt... no GF menu..they said they could adapt most things..they could not..booked a table for 3.30..we're not told we had to be out by 6..we were not and table wars ensued..well a slight exaggeration but nevertheless..did I book a table or a time slot?. Wish I had asked for my money back.
Great views but thst nature not nurture. Waiting staff pretty unfriendly to be honest.
Others food were ok..but burger and fish n chips is not a difficult culinary art. Not rushing back.
J. P.
Wonderful setting looking over the channel to Wales - plenty of seating - helpful staff and good food - wide choice of meals.
K. B.
Nice club sandwich and a great view of the channel
A. W.
Great, ok food and plenty of space to go round. Social distancing was good if observed, unfortunately the family near me allowed their chlisten to run passed me over and over again. Thought that was inconsiderate.
Will try this place again though
A. S.
Superb food, and great atmosphere, although very busy when we were there. Family friendly and they have facilities for the less able. A decent sized car park as well. Highly recommended.
J. B.
Absolutely fabulous. Great food and service. Our server was really helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.
L. K.
All about the view. This place is one of the best places to go in the summer. The view is something else.
Food is pretty good. It's well priced and all in all a great place to go for a drink.
The coastal path by here is a perfect place to have a wander and either start or finish here. A regular place to drink and eat for me.
P. R.
Lovely family restaurant with stunning views over Bristol channel the food was good the service was great would go there again.....
A. D.
Great food and atmosphere. Pleasant staff although prices are slightly on the high end.
D. R.
Very nice restaurant, plenty of space for larger groups.
Good menu with plenty of choice. Relatively quick service. Very popular. Children welcome.
Great views of the channel.
J. H.
Enjoyed my meal, which was good value and received very good service, accompanied by lovely views across the Redcliffe Bay.
D. R.
Went here for my Grandsons Birthday. Fabulous meal( although a little small on some portions. ) had a great meal and accommodated all on two tables.
C. B.
Great views, reasonable prices, gentle and calm atmosphere. Food is decent but 'offsite prepared'. Beer is decent. Very pleasant way to while away an afternoon gazing out to the water.
T. W.
A great selection of classic pub favourites with spectacular views over the Bristol Channel. Large car park. I would advise booking in advance if you want a table with the best views.
A. S.
Great location, good service and good range of products
B. M.
Went up Sunday afternoon demolished a couple Sunday roasts best I've had in a long time, loads of meat and veg large portions and dog friendly too! great value will be returning. lovey pub!
W. A.
Amazing views, staff are brilliant and super friendly, food is so good, very good value and portions
A. M.
I rate this venue highly because it combines a unique location, friendly and helpful staff with excellent food at a reasonable price, given the quality. Where else can you dine out and enjoy panoramic views over the River Severn whilst enjoying first quality food and ale? Loved it!
W. T.
As normal the meals are 85% service is good but the serving staff keep changing . 12pm the public piled and by 1pm it was packed just proof that it's a good place, warning to disabled drivers although there is no parking meters or slot drop payment wardens do visit so display your badge.
S. h.
Was amazing the 1st time, couldn't be better, today there was too much grease on most of the food but I am going tk go again on a Sunday and I won't deduct a star as the location and staff were amazing and 100% deserve the 5 stars :)
L. S.
Reviews can be unnecessarily damaging if one person has what they would describe as a ‘bad experience’. You can’t please all of the people all of the time but you can please most of the people most of the time. This pub is clean, friendly and always busy which proves that it is popular and sometimes under pressure ...... and that view ....... surely a feast that will always satisfy ?

Excellent food, staff and service. Slight problem with the booking over the phone but luckily sorted out by the friendly staff when we got there. The food was extremely good, would definitely recommend. Thank you.

Great pub/restaurant with brilliant views across the 7 estuary. Would recommend to all punters. Welcome dog lovers and families. Great times. Perfect to stop off for a quick pint if you're out for a walk. Great New Year's Eve party. Free Wi-Fi.

It's a pub that sells pub quality food but if you manage to get a table in the glass walled upper deck, it's a great view across the Bristol Channel to Wales. Also good for walkers with dogs because they are most definitely welcome at the Windmill

This is a must visit pub just for its setting. But the food is lovely. Staff is friendly and patient and accommodating. Views are absolutely wonderful.

Just had a banging Sunday lunch.. Best I've every had for under a tenner. I had the small beef and it was more than enough for me, left the plate clean. Delicious. Plus what a beautiful vista.

It literally has the best food anywhere, located in a beautiful spot by the ocean and whi doesn't love the fact that you can being dogs. The beach is beautiful to just sit and relax and theres a walking area for the dogs. Literally my favorite pub in the world

Good menu BUT NO STEAK!
Food a bit slow tables receiving gravy after nearly finished their Sunday roast. Garlic bread is a pathetic portion compared to price. But my seabass was lovely.

Delicious Sunday Lunch for 35, with wonderful views of the Severn estuary. Unexpected bonus: the biggest, lightest Yorkshire Pudding we've ever seen & tasted!
K. B.
A good pub with wonderful views across the estuary to Wales. Nice beer garden, perfect for a sunny day.

Sunday evening (arround 6:30pm),the sunday roast little disappointing-the food wasn't hot enough, floor staff also not very confident and slow, they served olives as a starter without cocktail sticks, garden peas(from scampi)overcooked!!! Icecream from bananana split taste poor.

Nice pub with outstanding views of Bristol Channel. Good beer selection and food at reasonable prices. The pub is on three levels with stairs, so not ideal for disabled folk.

Excellent as usual. the food is great really like the smaller portion option . The only issue is the outside area and car park is very dark now winter is drawing in, my elderly mother struggled to see and lost her balance in the dark

I do like coming here. massive pub with quick friendly service at the bar and a good range of food , I am going to be honest the food is only a little better than the spoons , but over all a great place to dine and if the weather is right the view out the back is gorgeous .
S. E.
The food and service here is consistently good, the menu is reasonable and the options enough to suit most. The specials board is always stocked up. Overall a great place.

Great location. Service excellent. Good food.

Every visit we have had has been great and not too expensive either. Recommend a visit. In our opinion the downstairs dining area has always appeared the quietest whilst still offering great views in the daytime and summer evenings (not that we've been at this time yet)

Popped in on a Sunday and managed to get a table outside in the sun after a trip to Bristol. Beautiful view and even better in the sun! Great food as well.

All good except Ploughmans which was unimaginative and bread was stale. Small portion option very good and vegetarian lasagne. Service excellent. Prices competitive. Baked potatoes very hot and crispy.

Great place to sit and watch the sea from your table, the food was average and took around an hour to come, the quality was not that great for the money, this place is hit&miss so do try it but do not expect top end! The service was very slow especially in the rush periods when more staff were needed. Great location and worth a try! :)
T. M.
Very friendly, keen to sit us where we felt safe. Limited menu but very generous portions. Pleasant staff.
