There are a lot of positives for the Brewhouse and Kitchen. It has a fantastic location in Sophia Gardens, surrounded by lovely walks and sports facilities and has good parking. The pub has plenty of outdoor seating, covered and uncovered, as well as a lovely conservatory alongside the original pub. The beers brewed in-house are great, we tried the pilsner and lager. The food was a bit of a mixed bag, good Sunday dinner but a disappointing burger and extremely watery cauliflower cheese. Staff were excellent, interesting deco, and app ordering nice and easy. Look forward to returning.

Fab! We just attended the masterclass gin tasting experience and I would highly recommend it. Amy was so knowledgeable. And the meal afterwards was great!

Lovely evening with great food, beer and service by Jack and Efan. Thoroughly recommend the Buddah bowl topped with a poached egg, hubby had Beer can chicken which was devoured. Jack brought us several beers to try and highly recommended le chouffe and the schoferhoffer which was a light refreshing beer with grapefruit flavours. They also had a great selection of low and non alcoholic alternatives. Well worth a visit.

A nice start to a Rugby experience with lunch and drinks at this microbrewery. The food was nice and the on tap beer options would take a while to get through as well. We were definitely amazed seeing these giant glasses being poured - turns out to be a creative sharing system.

This place was not far from my b&b in Cathedral Road, you can walk to it along the edge of the park just by the Sport Wales National Centre. The service was very good and fairly quick, my food arrived piping hot in no time and was excellent. The following evening I could not get in as fully booked. So best to book a table. There is a large car park outside if your driving.

Spent an afternoon watching the rugby here. Great ambience and well run pub. We hadn't booked a table so had to stand at the bar until a table became available but the bar staff were very nice and helpful. Could have brought the dog here. Lots of outdoor space.
Food was limited to a cut down offering and vegetarian options every more so. Recommended for a pleasant afternoon.

Very good pub, always busy. The truth is that it was too busy for the amount of staff working behind the bar taking orders, food was lovely but a little slow due to having to wait 20 minutes to be served at the bar.
E. S.
Very friendly staff and the food was amazing. It’s served in a quiet and captivating atmosphere perfect for groups of any size. My party was of 16 people, and we were all very satisfied with the service provided by members of staff. I also really liked the booking system used to accommodate larger parties. Great evening.

Fantastic experience we were on a beer making tour here. Our guide and head brewmaster Scott was brilliant and very good at explaining the process we were going through. A very highly recommended thing to do at brewhouse, and great as a birthday gift or simple outing with Friend's. Bk_cardiff well worth a visit. Thanks guys.

Went for a Gin experience and loved it! Cherie (assisted by Lottie) was a great host and kept us interested and engaged throughout!
Overall a lovely afternoon in a great pub. We'll definitely be back.

Had a lovely time here. Really enjoyed the beer and had a lovely steak dinner. We had great service from Mal, who was very helpful and polite considering she had to deal with my fussy drunk wife.

My daughters wedding had been cancelled 3 times due to covid . Finally we had a date this last Saturday on 29th May . We had to greatly reduce the numbers and find a venue. The brewhouse were just amazing and with a few tweaks and decorations made this into a perfect wedding venue . Thank you especially to Emma for taking this on . It looked awesome. Thank you too to Sheree and John ( deputy managers) for being so lovely and accommodating. An awsome day.

So went to brew house & kitchen for lunch break this afternoon. Didn’t realise menu changed so ordered a pork ribs but a bbq pork belly came out. Honest mistake from both sides etc. I was pleasantly surprised complements to the chef!!Highly recommend. Welcoming staff as always. Will be there for lunch again soon x
S. C.
Very nice. They had run out of certain items on the menu but they phoned me and let me know in case I wanted to cancel my booking. I appreciated the call and decided to stick with it. We had a lovely evening.

Great experience at the brewhouse and kitchen on the weekend.
Had a lovely drink recommended to me by the lovely Sherry who's service was outstanding. So open and welcoming.
As well as that, there was a member of staff there called Zech who was also very caring to my needs. He also reminds me a bit of my favourite movie star Stephen Graham which apparently he gets told a lot! (He claimed haha).
Great place with great staff, thanks again especially Sherry & Zech!

Was greeted by rather small skinny gent, think his name was Harry. As unknowledgeable as he was regarding the bizarre selection of craft beers, he greeted us politely with a cheeky grin, which made me forget how stupid he very clearly was, and continued to showed us to our table. Made me feel right at home as he pulled my chair out for me as I sat down. True gentleman right here!!! Good beers! Good atmosphere! But even better service! So thankyou very much for being you Harry. Trust me when I say. single ladies, GET HERE ASAP!!!!!!

Table booked in advance (11),1400hrs Sunday 20th March 2022, table. This is our second visit to your brew house and kitchen.
Great to see the place busy, particularly outside, all the staff were excellent throughout of visit, showing us to the table and in a short while took our drinks order. Shortly after this we ordered our food and was advised a 45 minute wait, not an issue for us, albeit it ended up being well over an hour.
Your beers and drinks we’re excellent.
The food was generally okay but it had its disappointments.
The 3 meat roast ,three of us had this….. pork utterly brilliant, beef good, chicken as dry as a bone, I mean really really dry, couldn’t eat it. Roast potatoes hard, I’m guessing these are frozen potatoes, quite disappointing as we all love roast potatoes. The vegetables were bland and hard.
1/2 chicken meal, sorry again the chicken was very very dry, onion rings cooked in burnt fat in our opinion.
Fish and chips, I know the fish is covered with a beer batter, but this was soggy and quite unpleasant. I made excuses to my dad, aged 86, that the very dark colour was the impact of the beer, he didn’t eat all his meal. Would suggest the fat it was cooked in was burnt, you could smell it. We were there for his birthday.
Spare ribs , simply not cooked enough should be falling off the bone normally.
Apple struddle, two of our party ordered this generally okay apart from the base of the dessert being so hard it was inedible. I ordered a different pudding for one of my guests because of it.
A main course dish ordered which was outstanding for a while arrived as cauliflower cheese but the order was a children chicken roast dinner. With an apology, the dish finally arrived 15 mins after the other dishes, the roast potatoes were hard and appeared to be frozen in the middle .
We could have raised these issues with the staff but given the food had taken a long time to arrive we didn’t want further delay. I was travelling to Worcester and my brother was travelling back to Waterford.
Our bill was £309.67 which included a £28.15 service charge and I was happy to pay the service charge given the staff were all hardworking and polite.
Given our experience it would seem unlikely, given the consensus amongst us , we would book a meal at your Brewhouse and kitchen again. We were there again to celebrate my dads birthday as we did last year.

This pub has an incredible selection of beers! Deffo somewhere to try if you are tired of the same Stella/Carling etc.
Friendly bunch of staff as well, with Zec being a massive help!!!
Thanks again!
p. k.
Great service! Staff were friendly and the ales were lovely, kay was our waitress and she made us all feel very welcome
T. P.
Very popular among locals and really beautiful place to chill out with your friends and family. A combination of modern with old pub with real beer 🍺 was a great reward after a long walk around and Sofia gardens. We took two digestives after a rich meal. Good prices for the location. Recommended for families with kids and for all ages.

Myself and my wife attended a Gin tasting master class, the Master Class was taken by Cherie , the Gin tasting was a great experience, Cherie was very knowledgeable, polite, answered all questions asked on the day, the Gin master Class was purchased for us by our children, and it was a great experience, the only let down was another married couple on the master class at the same time with us, the wife was a nice person, but the husband was rude, and slightly drunk on arrival, to the master class, while Cherie was taking the class, he constantly interrupted, but Cherie was very professional and dealt with his rudeness, we would like to thank Cherie for a great day

Very nice place for beer and food in park. They have got amazing outdoor and indoor seating. Beer is very good. Food menu changes from lunch to dinner. Making dinner slightly expensive. But totally worth it. We tried legend lager, chicken burger, fries and loaded nachos. Everything was superb. Beer is must try.

Great place to visit midweek. Food was quick and tasty. My son proclaimed it was the best burger ever. Monday there was a quiz on which was fun and friendly. Great looking copper vats.
p. ค.
Great venue. Huge range of beers. Interesting menu. I had Morrocan lamb stew with couscous. Massive burgers, salads and very nice sticky toffee pudding.
A. A.
Had lunch at the Y Mochyn Du yesterday before lockdown. Pleased they were serving free range chicken which was delicious. I had the ale and stout sampler and all three were very good. Staff were friendly and table service prompt. Relaxed atmosphere and plenty of space inside and out to socially distance. Will definitely visit again & bring one of their mini-kegs home for Christmas!!
C. P.
Great service, great food and good portion sizes, plenty of beers and ciders available, try before you buy too, beer and food pairings so to make sure you have the right beer to complement your pallet. Great place to chill with a few or a party as buffet menu available also, cheeky little gem in the heart of Cardiff.
T.
A fantastic place to go for food. We had book for Sunday Lunch, Big group 24 of us.... Our waitress Becca was fantastic she can’t do enough for us. We had a great time thank you.
M. M.
Dropped in for drinks. Not your usual place, no regular brands on sale but the drinks we chose were great. Nice warm atmosphere. Only complaint was the out of date price board on the wall, the drinks cost a lot more than stated, is this allowed? Would I go back, yes!
w. k. (.
Get out of the center... Walk through the park and come here. Stopped by for a late lunch on a weekday... Fantastic beer selection from both here and elsewhere. Shared a BLT and baked camembert and was very happy. Black IPA was on point. Staff was friendly and the spot is comfortable. One of the best places we've been since arriving. Worth it.
N. K.
Really enjoyed the range of beers and the food on offer. Served pretty quickly considering the events taking place all around Cardiff.
I'd happily pop by for more!
J. K.
I was gifted a Virgin Experience for the Gin masterclass. Our class was hosted by Amy, she was extremely knowledgeable and the gins were delicious.
C. P.
Plenty of beers to choose from here , with a micro brewery on site too! Bit pricey but I guess you are paying for quality over quantity. Would recommend the tropical IPA
L. W.
Really nice place for eat some food and drinks..the craft beer was really nice..some beer are made especially for them they taste really good 🍺👍🏻
R. J.
Great choice of ales, steak was nice enough, but overdone. Would normally complain, but I hadnt stated my preference however they should have asked - the reason for 4 star rating. An easy mistake to make, but someone at some stage should have checked. Recommended, but make sure you specify your preference!
I.
Great selection of craft beer. Their stout Tiger Bay is one of the best I've tried.
The female manager was very easy going and catered for our small group very well. Although the place was very busy the staff coped well and we did not have to wait for table or drinks. That was very refreshing.
Easily our number 1 choice in Cardiff, we shall return very soon!
K. S.
This place has had a good make-over and revamp. Friendly service, good drinks and a tidy menu. Best Bloody Mary I've had in years. Highly recommended.
A. K.
The place and the vibe are fantastic. The team is friendly. The only bad thing is the limited food selection.
D. T.
Food was quite average/standard. However the beer selection is awesome with something here for everyone. A couple of bar staff are quite rude but most are helpful and knowledgeable.
N. B.
Had a lovely meal here, staff were friendly and welcoming. Will be coming back here again.
J. L.
Visited before I hopped on my bus on the way to London and was served by a young chap called Jack. He gave me a lot of information on the beers and I managed to find the perfect one. Might have to visit on my way home
G. S.
Called in for a spot of lunch. Food was nice enough and good choice of cask ales. Staff friendly and attentive.
A. S.
Great range of beers and staff passionate about beer. Food is great, well worth a visit.
C. H.
I cannot recommend the gin tasting experience here enough! It was fabulous! Our gin expert Rachel talked us through 5 different gins, each with its own tonics, giving the history of the gins. She really knew her stuff. They weren't necessarily gins I'd have chosen myself, so it was great to give them a try and find a new favourite. Give it a go!
S. G.
Good location (near the bus coach station). Nice staff. The space is big and very bright. I really enjoyed the food.
E. J.
So happy to be back having a cheeky pint of Nations Favourite! Team were all absolutely lovely and were thoughtful (topped up my hot water bottle)! Didn't grab any myself as we were just there for drinks but the food looked and smelt awesome as it was coming out - will definitely pop back soon to try!
B. K.
Great beer garden. Good food 😊
H. W.
Came here on a Saturday for a beer masterclass. An experience we can highly recommend. The head brewer led the session and he was great - very knowledgeable, with a relaxed and engaging approach. We tasted eight different beers and learned a lot along the way. Each sample was a half pint so you may want to order some food among the way. We were a group of three and were joined by a another couple, was a bit strange to begin with (especially during Covid) but they were really nice and we all enjoyed the experience! It was supposed to last only two hours but lasted a further forty five minutes so leave a bit of time if your on a tight schedule. Really made our weekend, would highly recommend.
V. S.
This was a great find for a Sunday evening meal. I'm not a beer drinker but I was impressed at the selection of beers and menu with its suggestions of paired beers with food choices. I had a roast which was delicious!
R. M.
Great pub right in the gardens. Food was spot on and the beer choice is insane. Team were all so happy and helpful. Thank you we’ll be back again
S. P.
Perfect evening and highly recommended to anyone with dietary restrictions as the member of staff Davy accommodated so well to my needs.
i. c.
Good renovation and loads more seating outside, miss mochyn du but nice that they've kept a tribute tap for them. Still dog friendly and the menu keeps getting better
Probably the best beer garden in Cardiff, dog friendly too :)
C. W.
Nice venue, with lots of seating and variety. Burger and chips was nice.. but tiny in portion size for £11.95 and some beers were £6+ so not a very good value establishment. Wales football not shown on the TV's. Would visit again, but not regularly as it's expensive.
T. J.
Warm friendly pub staff are great food and drink is very good

Managed to get our beer tasting experience today at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. Ended up being on a " one to one" basis. Scott was excellent and I learnt a lot more about the making of beer than I had expected to. Felt more like a discussion rather than a lecture. Both beer and food were excellent. A thouraghly enjoyable and informative way to spend an afternoon in the sun. Thank you Scott and Brewhouse.
J.
Dog friendly and good staff and food. Would eat here again.
M. D.
I was disappointed by the service my friend and I received today. After being in lockdown for so long, we were looking forward to going to an actual restaurant. I called ahead to ask if there were heaters outside because we were bringing our babies and it was cold out, the person I spoke to confirmed they had heaters but when we arrived we noticed they were off, I asked the manager if they could switch them on and he said they didn’t have gas in them so they wouldn’t. Then our food took over an hour to arrive. We didn’t complain but a server named Rachel noticed we were waiting for a long time and took the initiative to check on our food and follow up with us. Honestly if I could give her 5 stars I would and only give the restaurant 3. The manager was awful and the food was just ok. Rachel really made the experience better for us. I would go back just for her. Not happy with how the manager treated us and how long the food took.
L. J.
Lovely outdoor place! Craft beers are really good too. I will go back again for sure!!
H. I.
Great choice of beers, comfortable interior and large beer garden. Attentive staff, too.
B. W.
Good pub at Sophia Gardens, with good beer brewed by the owners.
I haven't eaten there, however, the menu looks nice.
Helpful staff.
M. M.
Visit the pub on a Wednesday evening . Loved the idea of dining in a wooden shed outside .
Waiting staff were Friendly and attentive However they were not wearing any mask or face shield .( not sure if it’s the policy)
Food was wonderful but I think The size of portions were affected by government 50% discount .
The Shift manager who was at the door wasn’t friendly And it looked like he wasn’t happy to be there.
Wasn’t welcoming .
C. L.
Really enjoyed the beer and food tasting experience. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely go again.
A. M.
Very nice place to hang out with friends, either for drinks or to have something to eat. The cocktails are nice and so is the atmosphere!
A. P.
Nice pub, good beer selection even if it is a touch expensive. Lovely beer garden, all the staff are top notch. Getting three stars cause my cheeseburger was 10.75 and it was too burned, too dry and too small.
S. W.
Great little spot. Very creatively decorated & spotlessly clean. Staff very accommodating and welcoming, got chatting with one of the bar men who was from northern Ireland originally, very helpful and great craic.
Large selection of craft beers available, bottled and draft. Didn't get a full meal but menu looked/sounded delicious.
Would like to call again sometime.
J. O.
Came here for a beer tasting experience 🍻(bought through virgin gift experiences) what a fabulous experience it was!!! Scott our very knowledgeable brewer for the afternoon was interesting and made the experience fun and informative without feeling like a 'lesson' he definitely knows his stuff!!will definitely be back to enjoy a few of our new found favourites which will definitely not include the last two tasters that left a terrible taste in the mouth at least the burgers then helped to finish off a very enjoyable afternoon/evening !!only negative were the very dirty mens toilets 🚽 !!!
C. N.
Food was nice but service was awful and painfully slow. Parts of our order missed out even ordered a drink that never turned up but it was still on the bill. Shame.
J. H.
Fantastically well set out pub. The lighting and décor are really appealing. I visited in the first week after opening, so no resident brewer as yet, but you can really see the potential. There's a very extensive beer menu with some unusual offerings (peanut butter stout?), and good solid burgers. The staff are very friendly and engaging. I will definitely be returning.
O. H.
Had the best Sunday lunch out ever in this pub yesterday! Waw! Very good quality food. I particularly liked the roasted carrots and beetroot. Half price kids option was great. An outstanding choice of real ales served in proper glasses with handles (shame I was driving). Can't recommend it enough. Will definitely go again.
J. F.
Great afternoon. John had an excellent knowledge of the history of gin. I learnt a bit. Tried 5 different gins with one standout in Monkey 47 and another very good one in Bathtub. l can thoroughly recommend this experience for gin lovers and newcomers to gin. We'll worth the money.
L. C.
I love this place, it's very dog friendly. The location is perfect for the end of a beautiful walk. My dog pulls me into this place as he has free doggie treats, which is a brilliant way of literally dragging people in. The outside seating area is amazing in the summer and inside the pub is welcoming in the winter. Service can be a little slow but they do serve a large volume of people. Food is just above average pub food.
a.
Nice food, served promptly and through menu on a QR code. One way system in place and foot handles on doors toinimise hand contact. Lots of hand sanitizer. Excellent selection of drinks, especially the beer which is both brewed in house and complimented by national and international breweries.
C. M.
Came here for a works do, good food nice drinks brownies a tad dry but apart that everything was banging
D. L.
What a superb roast chicken dinner best I've ever had. Will be back for sure.
M. P.
Former Welsh language pub which has seen a fair amount spent to update the decor and make it a but more modern. The redesign has left it light and airy which is a great change.
The selection of beers was good with both local and import beers available at reasonable prices.
Staff were friendly and speak both English and Welsh.
There is an outdoor area round the back for families.
M. &. H. S.
What a pleasant surprise. Myself and friend just popped in to sample the choice brews and decided to order food. Excellent quality, presentation and portions. Service top notch. Albeit a franchise pub the quirkiness and obvious keen attention given to the micro brews suggests the staff and management take a certain pride uncharacteristic of other chains. Hope they keep it up...we'll be back.
G. R.
The beer here is good although what happened to the small, local brewers that once sold excellent ales here? The food is average but if it's north American fayre you're after, it's just right. I was surprised at how unprofessional one member of staff was with us though. We'd already had two rounds of drinks and a meal for four when we went for a third round. The ladies wanted tea and coffee rather than beer and the barman had a bit of a meltdown; the place had become packed full of suited drinkers and he argued that it wasn't worth his time. It was both embarrassing and infuriating. I could only assume he had some social skill issues as I've never experienced this sort of customer service even in London.
B. F.
As good as ever, food, drink, service, all highly commendable- though it seems we were a bit lucky as the next night, due to staff shortages, the kitchen was closed. No reflection on the establishment, though.
L. S.
A great venue with such a fantastic range of beer.
G. S.
Had a really good meal, good beer too. Be aware that although their website says they are dog friendly, dogs are not allowed in the restaurant, but are allowed in the bar. Be sure to let them know in advance if you're booking a table. Very good staff, even gave the dog a treat!
G. H.
Great service and food. Girl who served us was great and even wished us well as visiting a friend in hospital. Excellent customer services.
S.
Everything was awesome! Food was delicious, music was amazing and the beer was divine!!
Staff is super friendly!
N. R.
Booked for 36 on a busy Saturday evening! No problem for the professional staff. They were all courteous, pleasant and attentive. Food arrived hot and was really tasty. Thanks from the CFPD Wales Disability Cricket team. We will be back.👍
T. E.
Had a works gathering here after another local establishment couldn't be bothered with our business and I'm glad it worked out that way. Food was great, excellent selection of beers, friendly staff and the package felt like great value. Had food there since and it was again very good.
S. P.
Great experience made even better by David in this cosy gem of Cardiff
A. R.
Very good food and beer. Staff was excellent. Some of the main dishes were a little on the light side, but excellent non the less. The place just opened up, but don't let that fool you. Everything was very good!
S. H.
What an EXCELLENT place!!! Speciality ales were great (and what a selection!) and food was superb! Definitely an 11/10 from us! Staff were extremely friendly and very helpful - and we had our 2 little dogs with us who were also made very wecome and even given treats from the lovely lady who served us. Next time we're in beautiful Wales we will certainly be back. Well done Brewhouse!!!
A. H.
Second visit to this really nice and modern bar/restaurant. The interior is new and fresh when compared to how this place used to be. The selection of drinks available is impressive even if some are quite pricey but in my opinion worth it! On my second visit I tried the food which I thought was very nice, had some small plates and a burger. Would have no trouble recommending this place and will be back again very soon!
A. J.
Bring back the Mochyn Du!!! Interesting and nicely done up interior. The Micro brewery is a good addition. Staff were friendly but service was slow. Someone came to the table to take out orders and our drinks came out after our meals.
Food is now standard nothing special chain food, which is a huge shame. The car park is non existent and has pot holes similar to those found on the moon.
m. B.
Party of 6 of us ate at Brewhouse kitchen on Sunday 11th February 2018. The food and service were excellent. A varied and delicious menu on offer and very reasonable priced however we had Sunday lunch which was tasty and served piping hot- just the way we like it.. Really pretty and relaxing gardens to the rear, to enjoy a drink, or dine al fresco. All 6 of us were very impressed and all said we will definitely be making a return visit. Thank you Matt and to the chef and staff for a most enjoyable afternoon. I would definitely recommend.*****
R. G.
Unbeatable when the sun's out but a decent enough selection of home-made or local brews even if not. Invariably lovely helpful staff. Great place to stop while walking the dog
A. S. M.
Really nice, good service, decent cider selection and actually had the beyond meat burger. What a great burger. Portion size of chips and coleslaw bit too small though
I. G.
Was enjoyable sitting outside the beer garden, nice staff, not been since first lockdown and found it easy to order through the app, will be going back there
S. W.
Great atmosphere and the food is absolutely delicious.
F. S.
Good selection of beers and gins. Nice outside space. Convenient location for sports.
A. W.
Came for a stag do, had James with us all night, absolute hero, very informative. A total beer connoisseur! Brilliant burger to follow the beer tasting. James is everything that I want in a bartender. Totally brilliant experience, would recommend to everyone
c. h.
We usually come here for a Sunday roast (which are insane!), however, we went for the Cod & Chips today and genuinely think I would’ve preferred my local chippy. £11.20 for bland tasting cod and chips served without lemon - would avoid!
K. K.
Really nice. Good cider. Worth a visit
A. M.
Favourite pub in Cardiff by a mile! Great beers and friendly staff.
K. P.
Came for the canapès menu. Waited a long time and there were shockingly few chips for the cost. However quality was good and staff lovely. Have been for lunch previously and that's much better value for money. Great location and atmousphere
T. J.
Came here for our work's Christmas meal, was not disappointed, greated by friendly staff, Even though it was busy all staff went out their way to make sure we were all looked after
Food was amazing, great selection of beers on tap! ( Recommend the brew house X mas special)
Great atmosphere in venue, will definitely be visiting again
Thanks brewhouse!
P. P.
The roast dinner was delicious plenty of it and more if you want very good and friendly service and great beers. Great child packs to keep them occupied lovely afternoon I would definitely return.
S. C.
You could sit here all day and still not manage to try all the different beers. Decent food. Good for just a couple of pints or a few drinks before going into town.
S. O.
We were a group of 14 people and big eaters, we ordered a lot of canapes and drinks. Food was delicious, service was great and our waiter Ellis was very helpful and patient with us. Would definitely eat here again.
A. C.
Fantastic setting. Delicious food. Such lovely service. Words can't explain how happy we were to find this place after half a day driving up from Cornwall. Just what we needed.
P. B.
It was fine, maybe a little bit style over substance. Service at the bar was fairly slow, the beer brewed on site was drinkable. Not really in the same league as Mochyn Du so disappointed that's it's not as good. Didn't try any food on this visit but will probably try to visit again.
R. B.
Really nice pub and restaurant and had a great meal here from the lunch menu. They also brew their own beers on site and have a good selection to choose from. I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.
S. S.
I really like the Brewhouse, lovely location to relax after a walk or bike ride around Bute park on a summers evening. There's a very inviting beer garden out back and more outdoor seating at the front. The ambience is relaxed and cosy. There's a good selection of food snd drink on offer as well. The only thing that let's this place down is the very slow service from the staff who shuffle around carrying glasses from one side of the bar to the other doing their level best to avoid direct eye contact with customers. Even when there's a queue and there's 6 staff behind the bar only 2 ever seem to be serving at any one time. If they could sort that out this place would be great.
S. S.
Very good service. Nice beer. 2 pint glasses are definitely a good thing!
D. T.
I believe that post booking a meal for a large group, the pub has changed ownership.
I mix of that and the fact it was a very busy day due to the great weather, we didn't have the best experience. I'm guessing this may have been different if it wasn't so busy. Either way i will carry on.
Negatives -
First issue. All meals were booked in advance. On the day a particular dish had ran out. I know it was busy, but if you know you have a booked table of a large group. Why wouldn't you order more ingredients?
Serving time was slow. This must have been due to staff shortage. Or the fact it was fairly busy.
Very long waiting time ordering drinks at the bar. One customer started ranting that hes waited 45 mins for them to replace a barrel... They did rectify the wait but getting a member of staff to take an order at the table.
Disabled toilet & Womens toilet. I was informed that there was a lot of water on the floor of the womens toilet.. I popped in the disabled/baby changing toilet to change my sons nappy. The bin was overflowing with nappies. About 20 on the floor. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DEALT WITH THROUGHOUT THE DAY. NO EXCUSE.
One of our group didn't receive his meal (eventually did)
The batter on the fish was dark brown. very old/used oil used by the look of it.
My boiled chicken was tough & placed on top of my curry rather than in it to take on the curry flavors.
Positives:
Friendly staff
Looks nice there
The manager came to apologise and told us their chef had quit the day before
The didn't charge us for some of the meals & took 20% off the bill.
Overall across the group, the food was ok. Hurry up and replace your chef.
K. R.
Excellent choice of craft beers. Had a ham hock sandwich as an accompaniment to my excellent craft beer. Only thing that marked it down was the horrendous, entitled attitude of one of the members of staff who i happened to be unlucky enough to be served by. This gentleman needs to realise that it's not "Hipster" to be a rude, and you're not entitled to be either. Only reason why I won't return!
R. E.
Greeted by friendly staff for a late Sunday lunch. Food was cooked to order so took a little time but main meals came out straight after the starters were finished. Good quality food - the only criticism being price doesn't necessarily reflect size; the Cambodian curry is smaller than the fish and chips but more expensive.
Parking nearby can difficult due to events; try the car parks at Llandaff fields a 10-15 minute walk away
P. J.
Well organised re Covid regs. Good area outside with very large covering overhead. App for ordering fine. Friendly staff. Enjoyed visit.
E. H.
Went here for a brewing experience day on a friend's birthday. Head brewer Scott was fab, as were the food and drink provided. An excellent sociable day out all round. Thanks!
S. B.
Great vegan options for food and lovely atmosphere. Food was delicious and reasonably priced too. Aside from having limited vegan drinks and no dairy-free milks it was a lovely evening.
D. B.
Was at The Brew House and Kitchen yesterday before England v India cricket match. The pub was very busy, but the service was very efficient and the staff very friendly. Great beer and venue.
r. l.
Loved coming here the food was excellent and well worth the money. The staff were really nice and they couldn't do more for us. I would recommend coming here and I can't wait to come here again
R. S.
Had bottomless prosseco brunch ... Was good
S. O.
Had a BBQ for 50 people, lovely venue and great beer. Confusion over the name though - everyone knows it as Y Mochyn Du but Google shows that's permanently closed, and there is a bar not far away called Brewhouse.
T.
This was a nice pub/restaurant with lots of character. It's now a big, characterless business with tables squashed together to maximise profit. However, the food is reasonable and range of drinks good.
A. W.
Been here twice now. Would not recommend for food, but the bar staff are lovely and recommended nice drinks. Good quality stuff and lovely place.
B.
Beers really good.. food excellent. Staff friendly.. very quiet on a Wednesday tea time when I went. Great fire too...
K. S.
A lovely pub inside and out, loads of outdoor seating and the decor inside is done really well. Great choice for drinks and really tastey, not over priced food. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

j. f.
Great spot to chillout and have a nice brealfast this place gets better and better. They slways have a friendly vibe, good service and nice food
R. O.
4 visits, still struggling with beer supplies. It's gimmicky and not as good as The Cricketers near by. Go with their own beer as alternatives are £5 a pint. Customer service slowly improving.
H. S.
Lovely pub was served by a very friendly lad named Billy 👍
J. M.
Really liking this place and the makeover it's had. Beer choice is excellent and food fine.
Not sure why they changed the name, everyone is still calling it the Mochyn Du!
Plenty of outside seating too.
S. B.
This place has always had an issue with making customers wait at the bar for ages. I don't know if it's the design of the bar or being understaffed but I often wait over ten minutes just to get served. Came in here recently and waited over twenty minutes before giving up and leaving.
m. o.
Good food and drink. Staff were very friendly
B. E.
An erratic beer list with a couple of absolute stunners. weird food, but chicken wings are decnet if overpriced. totally dog friendly which is great

I like what they have done with the refurb. It clean and modern but still keeping a nice pub feel to it. Great selection of beers and the food looks good, I'll have to come back and try it
R. H.
The beer is good, I use to like the old black pig (Y Mochyn Du) and I think they have managed to keep some of that charm. If the food was better quality it would definitely be a 5 star place
m. v. E.
