M. J.I have come to The Claude on many occasions for food. The senior meal offers they have are excellent and the food is always impeccable. We always have wonderful service whilst here, especially from Beth. Nothing seems like trouble and she is always willing to assist me.
c. c.I've been a visitor of the Clause for nearly 30 years and I absolutely love the place, always a great atmosphere, big place with 3 pool tables, stage for entertainment, booths, bar tables and comfy seats, beer garden with under roof heating. Worth a visit.

Felt sorry for the girl behind the bar she looked worn out and was very who looked worn out, made me a pot of tea as I'm not a drinker and then my friend asked her to look for crisps which they had run out of... it was, of course, busy busy as it was match night on Thursday wales v Austria. I'd definitely return. Well done

L. C.A big pub, can get overly rowdy with loud music and dancing. Had some really off pints in here a few times, ale doesn't seem to be well kept. Although it is cheap and at quieter times can be nice for a drink. Plus they have pool tables and a decent sized garden.

Breakfast was bland at the best, sat on table 22 I think. Eggs were hard, sausages warm if you eat them straight away, chips on the plate to make up the space bacon cold no butter on the toast so asked for butter and was given two plastic packets of sunflower spread, I was famished so eat it, but I suppose what made my visit sour was the fact that a girl on the door asked, no told a little old lady that came IN"PUT YOUR MASK ON" no please or thank you. Completion is going to be tough for pub's so think you need a retraining session, I was asked if my meal was OK, I replied it wasn't the best and they said they would have a word with the chef???
S. J.Busy busy place. 5 security bouncers on duty give it a potential wild west feel to be fair. Then again, it's a big place and lively and busy. Good bands & open mic.
S. C.Two separate bars more in the tradition of public and lounge. This is a Greene King venue so the Season Ticket app can be used here. There is a decent menu, big match buckets and burgers are my favourite here. Guinness is not commonly available in Cardiff but the Claude serves a good pint. Staff are friendly.

The only thing that let's the pub down ....is the toilets...( womens) ..doors don't lock _/ run out toilet paper ..no member of staff going in to check.. ..toilets blocked ......really needs to pay attention..apart from that brill pub brill staff

A. B.Great to see live music but it's in a small area near the entrance and sitting around, you can't hear each other speak! It was even loud in the snug bar. Beers are quite pricey here too for an out of town pub. Pool tables are a quid a game but are always busy. A lot has been spent on the refurb but some of the soul of the place has been lost.

M. D.A really cosy pub where the staff go out of their way for you. I really can't complain about this pub: the prices on both beers and food are fantastic, the atmosphere has been brilliant whenever I have been in, and the staff always do their best for you. Also there are so many screens for watching sports if that floats your boat, and a lovely space outside if you just want to enjoy the summer air.

J. M.As always with leaving a review I can only relate my own experience. I popped in for a sly one whilst my clothes were in a washing machine at the launderette a few minutes up the road. (And came back whilst they were in the drier, and again after I'd recovered my laundry)
Every single member of staff was absolutely on point, friendly, helpful in any possible way I could ask.

M. S.Even though the advertisings shows students discount. To get a student discount we have to get a limited discount card issued by the pub it seems. So it's a marketing gimmick. Putting aside the students discount, the place is nice and spacious. Drinks are good too.

I'm relatively new to the area and not a regular in The Claude, however the staff were so friendly and welcoming that it made the atmosphere very relaxing and enjoyable. L. D.Drinks are really reasonably priced. A couple of the staff there are lovely, and some others look like there has been a plaig set upon us. Food is standard pub food, but good value for money. The local clients are a bit of an odd bunch, you have students and the local chavy type. Good beer garden though if you fancy sports.

S. H.After having not gone to the Claude over an interval of many decades, I was pleased to see that it was rather smarter and better decorated than previously. It's a Green King pub, but one of the better ones. I just had a drink, so I can't make any comment on the quality of the food, or even if there is any available.

G.This place attracts all sorts, from music fans waiting for the nearby Globe to open to families taking their kids for a meal. Generally attracts a younger crowd, but I haven't seen any trouble here, people seem friendly enough. If the weather's good it has a nice outdoor area to enjoy the sun with a cold drink. Not my local but if it was I'd be happy wasting time here.

Due to its location in Roath, frequented by locals and students, on weekends a mix of people who go along for the evening starting with food and followed by the band, whilst others drop in before heading for the city centre. A. J.Great place and I felt comfortably at home with a nice crowd, service was swift as there was a crowd in the place watching football or having a pint before going into the Globe. But I got got charged full price for burger and pint meal deal instead of getting charged £1.50 for the drink my mistake for not checking the price and they don't give a receipt so not worth complaining my mistake I know next .

There is a fairly large outside area with benches and tables which can be lovely if the weather is good (or your suitably dressed).

Go in and you realise it's massive. It felt like there was too much room for the area that it was in. But it must get busy when I'm not there.
Not a great selection of alcohol.
Not sure if they do food.
I usually go for a game or two of pool with some friends. They have 3 pool tables which is nice.
And believe it or not , they have a massive beer garden.
Take all of your Facebook friends and I think the pub will love you. Although it wouldn't fill the pub.
L. C.The steaks are so cheap and always delicious and cooked just how you ask, come here weekly too! The staff are great too. Can bring your dog also. Can't rate it highly enough!!!
G. N.Drinks are fine. However, why do I have to walk around to the lounge from the bar to get a drink? Most staff are inexperienced and basically trained. They serve the person directly in front of them and ignore those who are first to be served. Every time I go to get a pint I have to take my coat mobile phone etc. This is ridiculous. Saw the Boss tonight. Just walked through as if everything was fine. Going somewhere else with good service I assume.
Need to get your act together and look after all of your customers including us in the bar. I can assure you I'm not the only one with this gripe.
Still the same 6 months on. Staff acting like they are doing me a favour. Quite rude both this week and last when i informed them that there was 20% off drinks on a thursday after 6 pm. Last week the lager was flat and cloudy. I asked for a different lager. Solution, poured it into another glass and told me the customer that there was nothing wrong with it. Left without a refund. Only come here because its convenient and i cant walk far.
Rugby today. 7 behind the bar chasing their tales. Terrible service by amateurs.

W.Fond memories of the Claude a favorite haunt in my days as a student five nostalgic stars but the lounge feels a bit run down these days, but then again I'm a bit run down these days too and so I feel quite at home. Thursday in the bar is wild, you can play pool or boogie on down to the latest and oldest chart sounds

S. G.The Claude is really good on a Sunday evening from 9pm as Tony Morley & his band play. There is a great mix of music and other musicians and singers join in for a stupendous jamming session. Music ranges from Ska, 60s & right up to the newest releases. Great place for a dance or to stand back with a beer and watch the others dance or sing along to popular lyrics like Sweet Caroline, Hey Jude and more!

Brilliant venue for live music...Cardiff needs more of this type of pub ( I live in Radyr, the other side of the city and visit a few times a week)..Brains and some of the other chain breweries should take a few tips from the Claude.

as I don't like the atmosphere inside the Pub as a few people make you feel that because your not a regular customer that you don't belong there which makes me feel very paranoid & to be honest I rushed my drink,& then I couldn't wait to get out of there to find another bar where customers & Staff made me feel welcome.
T. R.Took kids for food. Nice and cheap, like a Wetherspoons. They kick all the kids out at 7pm on the dot though (must be before they can get too lairy and start fighting on the shandy.) Bear that in mind when taking the family for late tea (you're told to leave at 7, not the brawling toddlers.)

J. B.One of the best venues in Cardiff for live bands. I always have a good time. There are students there (it's in Roath which is smack in the middle of Studentsville) but they have security on busy nights and I've never seen trouble. Sunday afternoons are also good (lovely Sunday roast) and its up there in Cardiff with the best venues on a big match day i.e. Wales playing. As a bonus, probably the best Chinese take away in Cardiff is just outside.
For those who want it quieter by the way, there's another entrance besides the main one with a smaller bar with a big fireplace which is great to relax in.
