J. H. T. S. B. B.Had a really beautiful lunch there. Great service and lovely staff. Everyone of them was very welcoming. They have a great wine list too with some exciting wines by the bottle and lots of outdoor seating that would be great for summer.
My pizza was delicious and the Brownie for afters was very tasty. Would very much recommend.

L. W.Popped in for some lunch today and was met by a lovely man called Ellis, straight away we were met with good smells and friendly service. The drinks were absolutely beautiful and the food tasted just as good as it smelt which was matched by the positive energy from all of the staff! Would definitely recommend this place to friends and family and will 100% be coming back soon.
C. C.We had a bottomless brunch on a Saturday and were really impressed with the service and the speed of it! Pub has a great seating area at one of the busiest cross sections of Cardiff. Food was really nice. The only downside which cannot be changed is the stairs - a very long journey on some tiny steps - best not to navigate after a few drinks!
R. S.Visited yesterday during a shopping trip to town for the first time in forever. Booking was very easy and we only had to wait a short while to be seated. I was very reassured with regards to social distancing, track and trace was in place and the tables were spaced well. Staff were all wearing masks despite the warm day and I saw tables being thoroughly cleaned between diners.ordering was very simple via the app and the food came very quickly even though it was quite busy. The food was hot with a fair portion size and was delicious, the cocktails were amazing! Special mention to James who explained what items were vegan or how to make them vegan. He was very knowledgeable and professional. We will definitely visit again soon

S. B.Although from the outside this might look like a standard pub, inside there’s a delightful upmarket restaurant to be discovered. The staff are wonderful, giving an incredible welcome and professional service throughout our visit. Our group was seated upstairs in a great spot, with a view towards the open kitchen. The table was a good size, decorated nicely and the seats decent for a lengthy meal.
The menu was large and had a good range - most people should be able to find something to suit. The prices were also reasonable for the setting. Orders were taken professionally and the dishes arrived in good time. Food was presented well and tasty, although the asparagus with the fishcakes was significantly over cooked. Throughout the staff remained attentive and were really good at spotting empty drinks and refilling. The atmosphere was really good, despite being upstairs and it worked well for a group and special occasion. For a more casual occasion or as a couple the tables by the bar downstairs are also ideal.
I left impressed and would certainly return for a proper meal, especially on more of an ‘occasion’. The staff won me over and the setting is great.
A. J. S.My partner and I came here yesterday for our 4 year anniversary. We got the fillet steak which was seasoned beautifully and tasted great, good chips and sides too, with peppercorn sauce. Fairly priced and really lovely service from the person who sat us down and served us. Good atmosphere in the place overall and friendly staff. Thanks!
J. L.Tried this place for some drinks this evening by chance after trying out some bars on Mill Lane. The staff here are extremely friendly unlike others on the road! They actually look like they want to be there and engaged in conversation with us! We have booked in for next months reunion too!

S. C.Food was very tasty, I felt it was a little cold when arrived. One of their fryers were down so this may be the reason, so can understand that. However, there were other tables who got there later than us and still recieved their food before us. We attended on a Tuesday, for early lunch. The service was a little slow, all be it the staff were very polite. I queried if the one of my meals qualified for two course deal. The staff wasn't sure which meant sorting the bill was a bit of back and fore and meant waiting around another 10 - 15 mins more.

Very good location considering the fact that you may come to shopping. All the bother are people asking for money or cigarettes etc All was fine and I may come back for eating lunch or dinner. D. P.I always enjoy going to the Cornerhouse. There’s a great selection of drinks and the food is just brilliant. It’s got a really relaxed and cosy atmosphere, and is decorated really nicely.
I’ve gone with groups before and think it would be great for couples too, but personally I enjoy going to the Cornerhouse for a quiet meal by myself when I’m in Cardiff for work trips.
J.First visit last night and so pleased to have found a place in the city centre with such a lovely atmosphere, excellent food and drinks with delightful staff. We were served by Simon who was helpful, polite and professional as well as constantly smiling and making us feel that we were the only table he had to serve. Will definitely be returning to sample more of the lovely menu. Can’t recommend the Passionfruit Eton Mess highly enough. Great start to our evening.

Had the pleasure of dining here with my girlfriend and didn't disappoint!
Had the prawn and lobster pot for starters and she had the duck liver pate. Good size portions and great taste!
For mains I had the pork belly and scallops which was insane and stupidly filling! The girlfriend had the lobster and crab fishcakes which where huge! Around the size of two clenched fists!
Manager came and spoke to us and explained that the while place is u see new management and new chefs and are working hard to erase the previous owners bad reputation (which seems to be working as the down stairs bar was rammed!)
Would definitely eat here again!

S.Finally came here after we decided to rearrange our original visit back in March 2020 just before everything shut down and had decided before it was official the best thing to do was cancel the visit ourselves in order to save ourselves the heartbreak of it getting cancelled at the last second and it was the right decision!
I really enjoyed my brunch here and the staff were nice but the drinks I thought were steep for what you received and I am happy to come back again in the future.
I feel very strongly about never taking anything for granted again as tomorrow isn't guaranteed to anyone.

J. S.Had a great afternoon with family and friends before and after a Wales international game at the Principality. All staff were very accommodating and helpful with great food. We were a party of 9 aged from 26 to 80 and all had a good time.
M. B.We were seated upstairs and the whole place was just dated and tired, it needs some TLC, especially when you compare this to the standard of bars across Cardiff, new and old! The menu is fine, if not a bit boring, and waiting staff seem inexperienced but this can be excused by opening up after the pandemic. Toilets were also quite dirty.
Overall, quite disappointed in the Corner House, although it's fine for a drink outside, but wouldn't recommend here for anything more than this as it is.

F. B.First day of eating out. Corner House is good grub at reasonable price. They are adhering to all the social distances and face masks. They were turning people away so would advise booking. Menu was truncated but plenty of choice. I went for steak sandwich and fries. The boss had hummus flatbread.

The drinks service is always perfect and quick, the standard never falters. The food is par to none being incredibly tasty and perfectly balanced all while being reasonably priced, the linguine is my personal favourite. You're never alone at the Corner House and the rooms are always full of laughter and good times.

M.In a hectic cardiff city centre, on a lovely pink sky sunset we stubble upon the cornerhouse, looking for a quiet yet premium location, as we entered we were greated by emily with a warm smile, she showed us to our table, we were shocked to just how lovely the decor was, at this point we relized we made the right decision on where we going to spend are evening on this beautiful Friday cardiff night. The cocktail we had p###star Martini was just Divine, food wise we decided to Indulge with mushrooms on sourdough crumpet
Scallops with pea purée both made with such care and love, mains we had lamb (mr) pork belly again could not falt them in any way cream mash potato rich jus crackling melted in the mouth. my lamb was best ive ever had pink and full of flavor. we were to full for pudding but with definitely be back to try them all.

Great food and cocktails served sitting outside, so accommodating and they even made Maisie the puppy a chicken breast as we stayed longer than expected.

The food was tasty, however there were some issues with the food not meeting specific requests (such as how well the steak was done). This considered, they did their best to rectify the situation and considering it was such a bust day, have very little to complain about. I would eat here again (probably on a quieter day)

T. S.I have had food here a few times and the food is always very good. However, we went here for our Christmas team meal and the food was not very good. Starters and desert were very nice but small portions.
The main course was awful. Food was luke warm, the gravy was like water. The whole team felt the same way about the main course. I wanted to pop into the kitchen, ask for some flour to thicken up the gravy, and whilst I was doing that, tell them to put my food in the microwave to heat up!!
The service was very good though.

The Corner House have a great asset there wish other restaurants would have the same customer service as it really ticks me off

Only to return to say they didn't have my starter order or charge for it. Their mistake But very helpful and kind in error. Food looks good quality and well presented. A bit more professionalism is needed from they staff for this gastro pub to be top quality. Compliments to the chef and my waiter for the great food served today especially the belly pork and escalopes. Great value for excellent presentation. Will return soon 👍

R. L.Each time I've gone to the Corner House for food there's been a mix up in table reservations. I've always gone with a group of friends. The last time we had an almost 2 hour delay getting our food as a result. The food once delivered was lovely but could have been a little warmer. The staff did apologise for the delay and inconvenience profusely through the evening, and gave us free drinks to compensate us. It may be that if you go as a couple or smaller group that this sort of mix up won't happen though. Because of their efforts to make things right and because the food was genuinely nice, I give them 4 stars.

However cooking in a student kitchen did not appeal, and we decided to eat out and the Corner House looked reasonable. What a great, and I mean really great, choice. From the moment we arrived the staff were so friendly and made the day truly special. Food was good but it was the ambiance that made the difference. Well done 😊🎅🎄⛄
J. B.We had our Christmas do here so commentary on the food. The 3 courses were of reasonable size, delivered at the appropriate temperature and must say were interesting and tasty. Very well presented salmon with white wine mussel sauce was also as tasty as it looked. Enjoyed a tasty brie in breadcrumb and cranberry sauce starter and a perfectly portioned blacberry tart afters. Very enjoyable and reasonably priced as Chrimbo dos go!👍🏽

However, we were disappointed yesterday evening when the Pate arrived with stale Ciabatta bread, which was changed to cold dry bread and so I had to ask for some crackers as the pate itself was very nice. I ordered a Salmon Wellington, which came with no pastry on it, so that was disappointing as well. We were offered discount, but I would have preferred a meal that was truly enjoyed. We don't like complaining as the staff have a tough enough job to do, but felt that it was necessary last night. The venue is lovely with a nice vibe to it, but I'm not sure that I would return now.

A. B.I visited the corner house on Christmas day with my family. The food was lovely and the staff were friendly. I had already paid for for the food and therefore only needed to pay for a few drinks, which should have totalled £15. We received a bill for £115 at the end of the lunch. I told the waiter that there must be a mistake and he went back to check. He returned with a bill for £70. So I re-explained to him and he returned with a will of £45. He said that there was a charge of £30 for entering the building (it was titled entrance fee on the bill). By this time I was slightly fed up and paid it. I wrote to Corner House who said they would refund me the money as they never heard of an entrance fee before. However, I still feel rather annoyed as I could have easily paid £115, as oppose to the £15 if I wasn't observant or had not told the gentleman to recheck the bill.

The brownie dessert is delicious and the Agneau Blanc Sémillon Sauvignon is crisp and refreshing. And it was all off the lunch menu at 5:30pm on a Tuesday so it was incredibly affordable.

c. c.Came here today for food Saturday 7th March 2020 had a party of 5 witch on of them was a kid was unaware we had to book but had a table upstairs by the kitchen with I noticed the chefs where not wearing a hair net also noticed the chef using a yellow colour pair of tongs witch is for cooked meat only but was using them for chips and getting pizzas off the tray then I see another chef using a white chopping bored and using a green nife on that chopping board by using the wrong equipment can lead to cross contamination.

Aside from that, the children's Mac' Cheese was actually Linguine. Surely somebody could've nipped out and got some macaroni FFS. Also, whilst I know they're in prime location and need to turn a profit, £4.25 for an ice filled half of lemonade and a bottle of coke takes the mick. £13 for a lamb-burger, albeit a nice one, is toppy too IMO. All in, £35 for lunch for the missus and I and our 4yr old... meh. Next door to Bill's next time.
