Lovely large public house with outside beer garden. Plenty of car parking space. Food was delicious. My original choice was not available, however the veggie burger was tasty and it came with loads of fries. My friends' cowboy burger was very enjoyable as well. Only one little issue was that the fries were barely warm . We woofed them down all the same as we were hungry lol

The waiting staff were friendly, polite and attentive. There were two of us for lunch and we each ordered different things. My fish, chips and peas was hot, well presented and very enjoyable. My friend ordered a burger and said it was very good. We had one ice cream and a coffee to finish. Very nice lunch and as always Samantha was hands on, helping to clear tables etc., when it was busy. We will definitely be visiting again.

We used to visit the Ffynnon Wen before the pandemic hit the UK, So were surprised to see how much it had changed since 2019. The change is so much . The meals are exceptionally better than when it was 2 for 1. My wife needs a gluten free meal so was pleasantly surprised when she was given her own menu to browse through before ordering.

Nice place to seat and relax, clean enough (although I did scratch something off my tea cup)and quiet. Food, could be better, we had nice soup and battered mushrooms for starters, but mains were a bit disappointing, old roast potatoes, soggy Yorkshire pudding, felt like I was served some leftovers. My kid says hers was good, though both our plates were presenting themselves as in homeless kitchen.

Kelly is an amazing host! My partner and I had a 3 course meal there today, it was out of this world! Steak was the best we've eaten, amazing quality and cooked to perfection. All 3 courses I'd highly recommend. The venue is very welcoming and sqeaky clean. Staff are polite friendly and professional, they all.look like they enjoy working there. It was our pleasure to visit you and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole visit.

Service is always great here, but Sunday lunch is not the best. The beef is such a cheap joint you can’t chew it, quality is poor. Veg is very over cooked and the dinner is never hot. Only ever just warm, gravy granules are not good either. It’s just an average Dinner to be fair. We have had other meals in the menu and they are great

A quite extensive menu catering for most tastes and offering good quality food at reasonable prices. Especially liked the rump steak, which came with tomato, mushroom, onion rings and fries, cooked as requested. Real ale available served at the correct temperature (I hate it when it's freezing cold). Staff were helpful and friendly.

It was a delayed birthday meal for my husband due to family members having covid in December. Staff were brilliant just rearranging twice our meal and I felt nothing was too much trouble. The meal and service were excellent as was the food.

I came for food with my parents today, I rang last minute to book a table for 3 and Kelly answered the phone and fitted us in, table was ready when we got there. Kelly was straight to our table asking for our order and very chatty and friendly. The food was amazing we only waited 15 minutes and it turned up piping hot and cooked to perfection! We stayed for desert and coffee and didn’t want to leave, the atmosphere was lovely! Fantastic pub and staff super friendly. 10/10!!!

This place had been fully refurbished since I’d last been. It’s a really lovely pub/restaurant with great food. The burgers are absolutely amazing. Staff were all great which is a bonus. The prices are very good for what you get. High quality food and service. (They even have a pet friendly seating area inside)

Kelly and Darren were absolutely brilliant finding us a table short notice and with enough space for my grandmother who has mobility issues. They regularly checked in to make sure we were ok and the food arrived quickly. The meal was delicious - barely any fat on my steak. Cannot wait for our next visit.

Have been here twice, first time was excellent, really nice steak. Second time we were sat in a colder part of the pub with no heating, we were a bit cold and were told there was a problem with the radiators. Also they didn't have any peppercorn sauce. Minor complaints but worth noting.

Fantastic time spent today having Breakfast with the Easter Bunny! My son and I enjoyed making an Easter Bonnet, seeing the Easter Bunny and having Breakfast. Good family fun! We hired out the side room for a wake, this was for 30 guests, the booking went very smoothly and all via email. The price was reasonable and we picked the silver service, the food was nice especially the samosas, everyone enjoyed the food and with tea and coffee included, it was constantly topped up as well. It wasn't so busy in the main pub, and there's plenty of parking available.

We went there yesterday for lunch we hadn't been before so didn't guite know what to expect. The waitress that served us was friendly and couldn't do enough for us when the food was served she Made sure it was OK and was very attentive to us all round. 17-11-2021...As I said last month we will always support a Marston public house. Decided tonight though to try something different....the Steak & Ale pie, sweet potato fries, carrots and peas (comes with gravy but chose to eat it without). Excellent....the pie was perfection and I’d give it 10 out of 10...still went to Goco Gelato for desert though. Went tonight Tuesday 26-10-2021.Been about 30 times over a long period of time...but felt it was definitely worth seeing how the revamp compared from a 2 for 1 going to a standard Marston. The upgrade is excellent, and the upstairs party room for that extra special do is fantastic. Downside is say 2 for 1 Hunters chicken was £15.75 now at £9.25 that would be £18.50 an increase of £2.75. Still excellent meal though a shame that new potatoes are no longer available. The sweet which I normally no longer order...I see they still skimp on custard so it still looks like a continuance in the future to still be going to Coco Gelato in Crwys Road for desert. We will still continue to support, as I still enjoy the ambiance of the premise but now that we are retired money wise....the Hungry Horse and Toby are definitely coming into consideration.

Pub well presented and decent sized outdoor seating area, my partner went to order drinks, we were sat outside, whilst at the bar a few mins later a regular stood up, the bar man (Darren I think) poured the guy a drink, the regular pointed out my partner had been waiting first, the guy replied something along the lines of yeah whatever, nice way to treat paying guests, ordered some starters to share and a child's meal took 45 mins to come and the sharing nachos were laughable, cost £8.65 and was around 60p worth of product on the plate, took them back and got a refund, all for places making a profit but ripping you off and ignoring non regular guests isn't acceptable, doubt I'll return stick to the travellers rest a much better experience and food.

Ffynnon Wen is one of the few places you can buy one main meal from the menu and get another one free. Good selection of food on the menu. There is also a Specials board daily. The Children's menu is excellent with good choice. Spotlessly clean and plenty of room. You don't feel you are right on top of the other diners. Steak and Ale Pie with a gravy boat, Peas Carrots and Chips or Jacket Potato. I chose this and was not disappointed it was very tasty. Ffynnon Wen is a lovely place to eat I would recommend. First visit since Covid. Still a lovely place to visit for drinks or food. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.

I really like the Fynnon Wen since its been taken over and modernised by Marsdens. Booking process is easy and staff are attentive. We had a late Sunday Lunch, and very nice too. My only critisism was that the veg could have been better choice. We had carrots which were very al dente and leekes .... I missed the simples really. Peas or cabbage would have been very much appreciated

I supplied my personal contact information on the understanding that it would be used for Covid purposes. I believe that the information has been used contrary to GDPR regulations. However I would say that I found the staff to be polite and accommodating. The environment is comfortable. Unfortunately the choice of Real Ales is most uninspiring. The beers Pedigree and Hobgoblin flood Cardiff so it would have been good to find something a little different maybe a guest beer that isn't found almost everywhere.

The Williams family went to the Ffynnon Wen After a funeral today. We were met by the lovely Kelly who welcomed us and showed us to our area. Also Darren was welcoming and helped with the Buffett and drinks. They listened to our singing and reminiscing about memories of the late Gwyn Williams. I would definitely recommend people using this place for any functions. Very lovely people will definitely be returning. Thank you everyone.

We visited here for the 1st time in years. The recent refurbishment is lovely and the staff were friendly and accommodating. My husband had fish and chips which he enjoyed, I chose the roast beef dinner. Unfortunately the beef was tough to cut and the food was lukewarm. Our waiter took it away saying he would get it changed, however I got the same meal back that had been put in a microwave. Unfortunately it was inedible. Our waiter was profusely apologetic and so nice in dealing with the whole thing. Whilst it was a disappointing experience especially as it was a birthday meal we were impressed by the fact we weren't charged at all. So to compensate my husband's meal and our drinks were free. Our thanks for the way in which it was dealt, many other places would have still charged for the other meal.

The tables in this place are super sticky, not dirty - something to do with the varnish but it's very uncomfortable. Especially in this heat. Food is average. Burgers were very overcooked but the guests who had steaks were happy with their orders. The staff were just as friendly as they needed to be without coming across as rude. We visit here as it's conveniently located next to the crematorium which we visit frequently.

The pub itself has seen better days, but the interior is large and very traditional and strangely comforting. I was there today for a wake for a friend and the service was excellent and very sensitive given the circumstances. The food wasn't great; I had a very chewey sirloin, although the chips that came with it were fine, but the two for one offer makes that more bearable and there's a reasonably wide menu. Social distancing was properly enforced and I would definitely recommend this place if you need to have a larger gathering before the end of the Covid restrictions.

Service was good and beer was your standard fair, the starters we had were mixed, the nachos were a bit lacking (very little cheese) but the brie bites were gorgeous, then for the mains we both had burgers which were... quite frankly vile, we both wrapped the meat up in napkins and fed it to our dog when we got home as it simply wasnt edible, and the soggy lettuce wasnt much help either, all in all if they get better burger meat it could be quite nice but as it stand 3 stars feels generous

Four of us called in today for a meal at about 1.30p.m. The staff were friendly and courteous. We had a wait of about half an hour for our meal. It was quite busy in the restaurant and also a funeral wake in another part of the pub. The meals were all hot and enjoyable. We had a large group booking and the staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. Delicious dishes. The only reason I've given 4 stars not 5 is that the menu can be a bit confusing/ overwhelming- there's a massive specials board on the wall with almost as many dishes as the main menu, and a separate specials clip board. Some dishes were either repeated on 2 out of 3 of these or very similar to ones on the other menus, so it was hare to process all the options and make a decision without forgetting what was on the other menus. Great food though, have been a few times and will definitely visit again. Plenty of parking, out of town location near the crematorium.

Nice ales, wines, tonics and spirits to mix and get the boot you want to drink from. Food, is great for the price as well as service doesn't let you down, but isn't in your face. We did have to ask for the bill, as opposed to being asked -- but I personally do not mind little things such as that at all. Especially with the comfort feel and decent lighting / furniture / decorations. Family / friend friendly place. Just a shame, you need to drive there. So, get a taxi and a crew of friends, drink and have a 15 minute drive back to the heart of Cardiff / Caerphilly dependant on where you want to be from or go to.

Funeral buffet. We spoke to Chris the manager and arranged to hire the lower room at no extra cost, we chose the silver buffet for 50 and tea/coffee and cakes for 20. The food was exemplary, commented on by all guests, chicken and sausage rolls hot from the oven, a selection of freshly made sandwiches and delicious cakes with cream, all excellent value and plenty to go around. The staff were very discreet when clearing away and replenishing when needed, a special mention to Glyn who was very attentive, Shaun, Jamie, Claire and Derek the chef . I would highly recommend the Ffynnon wen, they made a difficult day go a lot easier.
