I went with my partner for his birthday in February to use a fine dining gift voucher we had. I have to say I was expecting to be blown away but the experience and food but my experience didn’t really meet my expectations. The venue was stunning. We opted for the lunch time 5 course tasting menu and some sparkling wine which was delicious. The restaurant was empty apart from two other tables. The service was quick but staff seemed snobby and rude as myself and my partner were making anecdotes and giggling and were glared at by staff. I didn’t realise it was such a serious place, laughter is a good thing is it not? The staff members also went round and spoke to the other two tables of people but not to us, maybe because we are younger (mid 20s)
The food was unique and unlike anything I had tasted before some of which I really enjoyed like the bread and the ratatouille (although it is a cold dish). Some things were not to my taste like the duck with white chocolate dressing. Overall I wouldn’t come back and I wouldn’t recommend it for the price.

Superb high end dining with impeccable yet friendly service for our large group of friends. Every dish of their 6 course tasting menu was amazing and the experience even further elevated when paired with their matching wines option. All topped off with a beautiful & sophisticated setting within one of Cardiff's classic Burgess buildings. Not cheap, but a real high end treat.

Food looks better than actually tastes. Tried their tasting menu (9 courses) with wine pairing and it was somewhat disappointing. Dishes were either over seasoned or little seasoned, never be at the right balance. Tweeks on dishes didn't seem to go well with ingredients. Sadly, there was no dish that amazed me. Wine pairing was questionable too. Service was good though.

We went last week( June ) for a meal and had a great time. The food was fab but what made the evening extra special was the lovely staff. There were some newbies serving but everyone was helpful and attentive and the head waiter/house manager was fantastic. He was great with staff and customers which was lovely. And particularly as there was a large corporate event going on at the same time. We had a very fun evening. Than you to everyone there.

The food is great…we had 9 course menu with wine pairing…worth it as added to the experience. Staff very friendly and atmosphere very enchanting

A mixed review. The restaurant is lovely and the staff great (Alex the sommelier/manager) was excellent. It is not a cheap restaurant, especially if you choose good quality wines from their excellent wine list but that's a personal choice. Two things let it down slightly. Firstly, and yes I'm used to fine dining, the portion sizes were Extremely small and could be more generous, even for fine dining. No complaints about the quality though, the food itself was fab, just that a couple of mouthfuls and you'd finished your course. Secondly, and this was just unfortunate, a large group of ten on a huge round table were extremely raucous, loud and even banging the tables for fun. When you're spending over £600 for four people to enjoy a special evening, it's not what I would have expected and somewhat spoiled the ambiance. I'd definitely go again but only for a special occasion rather than a standard evening meal

A gastronomical delight! Each dish was well conceived, expertly prepared and artistically plated. The matching wine selections paired perfectly. Service is impeccable. Each visit is its own reason to celebrate.
H. P.
Lovely building, staff very friendly and accommodating, 5 course taster was not to a standard you’d expect, the paired wines were very nice but the food was very slow coming out and didn’t get the true effect of wine with each course, did wonder if they had finished laying the table, not even a butter knife with side plate. Over priced and underwhelmed unfortunately!

# This restaurant stole my money #
Booked a Christmas day meal and paid £440 deposit. Unfortunately several members of our party were struck down with covid and we were forced to cancel. I told the restaurant 3 days before our booking and as soon as we knew we could not attend. To this day I have been deliberately ignored by Adam the manager. I have emailed dozens of times, left message after message via phone and even when he is at the restaurant he is "on another call". I appriciate there may have been costs incurred due to late notice but not over £400 worth of costs... Worse still its the deliberate avoidance that is so disgusting. The deposit was on behalf of a family and paid by an elderly relative (and one who regularly dined at the parkhouse). Shame on you and your thieving business!
T. G.
Andrew the host was an absolute legend, from the phone call booking all the way up until our time there ended. Excellent service with intelligent conversation mixed with good banter. The decor was lovely and in keeping with the age of the building. The food itself was great. Been a long time since I had a tasting menu but I was not disappointed at all and completely stuffed. No surprise this restaurant is in the Michelin guide 👌🏽
P. B.
Went for the 9 course but only received 8 after being advised the first was complementary. Several courses were quite average.
M. Z.
Delicious chocolate dessert with 24 carat gold stole my heart. It is generally an elegant restaurant with tasty food, although the waiting time for the dishes was too long. During our visit there were only two other reservations so waiting for dessert 45 minutes was overkill. It is true that we received an additional gift as part of the apology from the chef, but such situations shouldn't take place. I still recommend.
J. K.
Brilliant quality of food and service! Wine pairing was excellent!
P. M.
What a wonderful restaurant. The building, being listed, was full of character and beautiful to look at. The staff were very polite and attentive. The food was exquisite, with wonderful textures and flavours, with a superb wine recommendation. We had a great experience and will be back. Highly recommended.
N. J.
Excellent food and service. Surprised us with a complimentary dessert for our daughters birthday.
J. L.
Simply superb. We had the 9-course taster menu with matching wines. Every course was just delicious. Not cheap, but No better way to celebrate a special occasion.
C. B.
Lovely restaurant. We opted for the 9 course taster with wine pairing.
We weren't disappointed and felt looked after by the staff throughout our experience. On our return to Cardiff we will be visiting again.
T. M.
If your looking for somewhere to celebrate in Cardiff then this is the place. 9 course tasting menu was amazing. Matching one mitchalin star Lympstone Manor in Devon. I enjoyed every course ending with coffee. It's not a cheap night out but one not to be forgotten. The quality of food is high and cater to any allergies informed in advance. Staff are attentive and helpful.
Y. C.
Amazing food and attentive service from all staff. We had the icon wine flight with the lunch tasting menu which was a great experience. Can't wait to visit again.
G. P.
Food was great but it took nearly 4 hours to go through a 6 dish taster menu. Too slow and the service was not what you'd expect in a top end restaurant
Y. M.
The food and interior in Park House is amazing, but what impressed me most is their wine pairing. I had the scallops paired with an Australian Riesling, where the food made such a huge difference of the wine 🍷

Took my wife for our wedding anniversary on a Saturday evening. We had the 8 course tasting menu which was outstanding, I also opted for the small glass of wine with each course selected to complement the dish. Perfect experience with outstanding service (attentive but not intrusive), our waitress couldn't do enough for us and was very knowledgeable about the food and wines. Overall a very good fine dining experience.
M. W.
I've never done anything like this before and because of the price it's doubtful I ever will again but it was a lovely experience. We had the 8 course tasting menu and the quality of the food was sensational. The highlight was the duck, which was perfectly cooked and so flavoursome. Bizarrely one of the highlights for me was the cheese course which is strange because I don't usually like cheese. The staff were exceptional and explained everything thoroughly, answering any questions we had and were very friendly. The wine selection is also sensational although you'd be there forever looking at the entire wine list.

My husband and I visited last night having looked forward to eating at Park House for a long time. When we arrived, we were given our drinks and then the waiter left. Over the course of the next 15 minutes or so, we had to ask for a food menu twice.
The first and second courses were nice but weren’t as fantastic as some of the other fine dining restaurants I’ve visited, either in the area or otherwise.
The real issue was the service. As mentioned, it took far too long to be given our food menu. There was also a long delay between each course. Once we had finished, we asked for the sweet menu and again, waited approximately 15 minutes. The waiter acknowledged that he had taken the request and then vanished.
At the end of the evening, we asked for the bill, from the manager no less and alas, a second request was needed. The staff walked around the restaurant which was by this point, almost empty, and we had to ask for the bill a second time after a 10 minute wait.
When the staff attended us, they were friendly and polite but their attentiveness was seriously lacking. We spent £200 for our evening and it was neither a £200 dinner nor service. Also bear in mind that the restaurant was at half capacity at most. This wasn’t an issue due to being overly busy or rushed off their feet.
Once we had paid and put our coats on (which they couldn’t find for ages) it felt like we were ushered out as quickly as possible, into the pouring rain.
I wouldn’t go back. There are far better restaurants. Visit Heaneys instead. 10x better.

Park House is a real find - how have we not been before? The 5 course tasting menu with wines chosen by a really charming and knowledgeable sommelier provided an evening of utter joy. The Cardiff salad and main course of duck were absolute winners and I would have happily dined on these alone without the cracking other courses which simply added to the evening's pleasure. The staff are superb and chef clearly top notch. A genuinely lovely meal and one we'll repeat often in the future. Really one of the finest dining experiences we've had for a long time.
A. C.
Lovely restaurant with great service. Fabulous comprehensive wine list with knowledgeable staff on hand to help. We had 8 course tasting menu which we enjoyed all but the cheese course. The a la carte menu looked great also. Lovely cheese cart which we ordered from separately to our menu there was good choice and definitely one of the high points of the evening.
4 stars rather than 5 as women's toilet 2 floors up from restaurant which is a disruption to a lovely long meal with lovely wine.
E. P.
Absolutely every aspect of this was stunning. We had a 5 course tasting menu which was devine, it was a beautiful building and we were the only ones there so it was peaceful but the waiter did not hover. He was attentive and friendly without being remotely intrusive, a truly wonderful experience.

I love this place. When we moved to Cardiff we almost didn't go here, because of a review someone posted on google. It took 3 years, but what an incredibly experience. The food was amazing, the wine list (1000 bottles) was amazing, the staff were incredible.
This place is becoming an institution and you can see why. I have to say, this is the only fine dining restaurant in Cardiff. My new favourite place!
A. K.
Fine dining in Cardiff that is accessible to all. The price for the set lunch is affordable. The service was great. The food was constructed and combined very well, they clearly have a top chef working hard. The only reason this review has 4 stars as I had an issue on my last visit which is currently being dealt with. Given reviews on other sites I feel my complaint is the exception and I have every confidence that it is being dealt with in a professional manner.
F. R.
Amazing. Service was great with the staff being knowledgeable about the ingredients and also excellent with their level of attention. The environment was gloriously luxurious. A grand staircase that leads to a quaint bar/waiting area and back downstairs to the main dining room with high ceilings and we'll dressed tables carefully spaced across the floor. The food was astronomical, indulging in a whopping ten course taster menu, I was left satisfied both in volume and in taste. Each dish is a piece of art and would not feel out of place in a gallery and it's almost a shame to dismantle them during the act of eating. However, when the dishes deliver such high quality, well combined and cooked ingredients, the initial beauty of the dish becomes irrelevant and it's the flavour that is now the star of the show. The wine selection is also good but wine is wine. This is THE best eatery in Cardiff.
P. Z.
Excellent food, service and especially wine. Taste menu wont be as attractive without wine matching. Two problems with the taste menu: 1) it is not the same as the one at time of booking. I should have double checked the menu on the day. 2) I dont like every course. The cheese course and the lemon tart. But it's taste menu, nothing to complain here. By the way, 8 courses are not as full as we thought. Wont be drunk by wine neither. Nothing to worry.
J. R.
Beautifully cooked food. We had the 5 course tasting menu with the matched wine and it was just perfect. The upgrade to the icon wines is worth it and there is usually a 2 for 1 voucher available on the internet for the food making it very reasonable
T. G.
All 4 of us enjoyed a lovely evening at Park House. Delicious 5 course tasting menu, which tickled our taste buds all evening. I had 4 separate pescatarian courses prepared especially for me. Our waiters were faultless, and made us all feel totally relaxed. We would love to come again. Thank you to everyone for a lovely evening.
R. P.
This was a great find. We were visiting Cardiff ( from Torquay) for the weekend and were not sure what to expect but it was excellent in every aspect. The staff were excellent, very welcoming, friendly and efficient but not intrusive. We fine dine regularly and the 8 course tasting menu presented to us was Michelin standard. The wine was an absolute standout feature. We have never been to a fine dining restaurant with such an extensive and wonderfully selected wine list nor have we been attended to by such a knowledgeable, helpful and friendly Sommelier. Why doesn't this place have a star, IT CLEARLY DESERVES IT?!
M. A.
Food and service were excellent, but the atmosphere was lacking.
S. Y.
Went with my wife and a another couple of friends for the taster menu with matching wine. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and wine, both the waiter and sommelier really knew what they were talking about.
Ok so, we visited again and had the 9 course taster menu. The plate size has decreased immensely one course compromised of two small slices of duck breast on some leaves, I left there feeling hungry, the food was 4 out of 5 but the service brought it down. We had the accompanying wines with the meal which were nice but if we wanted more water to go with the meal it took them a long time to get it and when it arrived the posh bottle only has enough to half fill 4 glasses, for a table of 6 this isn't ideal. The food is brought out with such fake pomp and ceremony that it puts me off asking anything about it. The wine details are good and the chap who makes the cocktails at the end deserves every compliment he got!

Great staff, really helpful and considerate (the irony of going to a wine bar but not drinking alcohol!! The staff were happy to talk through what alternatives were available)
R. B.
I recently had lunch at the Parkhouse and was impressed with the set lunch and the razor sharp service. However, the best feature is the historic wine list. Great job. Adam is a great host. This is a real asset to Cardiff
M. M.
Beautiful building and very friendly staff. The 5 course taster with matched wine was superb. A lovely atmosphere and an overall great time. Worth every penny

We went for the 5 course taster lunch with matched wines. The food & service was fantastic. A really nice place to enjoy an afternoon. We will definitely return.

Fine dining! Have been here with a group of 30 guests. The service was good and the food was amazing!! I can totally recommend this Restaurant. As soon as you come to the entrance you have to ring a bell to come in - this gives the restaurant a very exclusive image. The athmosphere inside is great!
S. K.
Parkhouse Restaurant provides Michelin standard fine wine and dining in the heart of Cardiff. The place to go, to treat your family or partner and even better they’ve recently opened for Afternoon Tea.
A special mention goes to the website which reflects the brand well and makes booking a dream. If you have been yet, trust me, you should. 🍾🥂🍽

Excellent food. You need to ensure you have plenty of time available to enjoy the fine dining experience. Service is not at all slow but there are several courses involved.
H.
Very impressed by the fine dinning experience from the moment we walked in. Intimite setting with comfortable chairs, dedicated and knowledgeable sommelier and maitre d'hotel, and unparallel gourmet courses and pairing of wines. Exceeded our expectations completely. This restaurant is definitely one for celebrations.

I hsve just hsd linch with my wife here. We had the 5 course tasting menu. The service, food and ambiance blew our minds for quality and welcome. Don't,give this place a miss if you haven't been there. You will not be disappointed.

Amazing food, lovely service and Cosy setting ! Had a fantastic time here and would recommend everyone visiting Cardiff to eat here! We had a host called Alexander and he was very friendly and chatty.
G. B.
Superb food and service in an historic building. Why this place does not have a Michelin star yet James Sommerin does, makes no sense to me. Food and service to my taste was far superior. Will go here again really enjoyed my evening.
V. C.

Good ambience, good food, professionally staffed. Only gave four stars because we had heard that it was stunning and it didn't quite make "stunning", but was pretty damn good anyway
B. M.
Really amazing food and the somelier certainly knOWS his stuff but what was truly amazing was the fact that the mixologist was able to match a cocktail to the fabulous deer incredible ( non red wine drinking daughter before you ask!) Fab

Went to a special wine event in May 22. Absolutely fantastic. Food was glorious and the knowledge to match the food and wine was amazing. All staff were superb but the chef is a master at his art. Adam is the owner, wine guru and host most complete. If you want a fine dining experience this is the place to be. Set in the most authentic, historical and magnificent surroundings.
