I had a steak, which was cooked and seasoned to perfection 😁 Paula was fantastic, and was so helpful with all the arrangements. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff even put up all the banners and decor. All in all, a fabulous night. Would definitely recommend, and we will be back!

M. P.I was pleasantly surprised by this pub/restaurant. I've driven past for years and never even considered going in. Went in for a meal prior to xmas drinks in cardiff and it's really nice inside, tastefully decorated with friendly staff.
I had the 10oz Rump Steak and it was well cooked, rare as I had asked for. Good selection of drinks available too.

t. G.Had a spontaneous dinner at the Pub. I ordered fish and chips, my partner had the pulled pork burger. It was so tasty, also a big portion, I had to ask the waiter to put it in a box for me as couldn't finish it off. And the pickled radish, oh my word! The chef even wrote down the recipe for me and put an extra portion of it with my leftovers. That's what I call brilliant service. Good quality food, not expensive at all, nice interior and well looked after by the staff. Recommend it to everyone.

You will enjoy yourselves though and as I stated, I'm sure the staff will improve in the next few weeks. The food we had was very well prepared and presented well on crockery (no silly scaffold planks here).

_.Myself and my sister visited this pub and kitchen on the 14/08/2021. We had a great time enjoying there delicious food menu of fantastic choices as well as there cold drinks.

S. P.Had a works Christmas lunch at the Thackeray today and I just wanted to say how fantastic everything was. From booking to the food and service today it all has been great and couldn't have asked for more. A few of us had the steak and I have to say it was one of the tastiest steak I've ever had. With homemade chips that were like giant wedges and plenty of delicious peppercorn sauce I cleaned my plate. Service was great, all the staff were polite and attentive and couldn't do enough for us. For just under £20 for 2 courses you couldn't ask for more. Big thank you and I'll definitely be returning.

C. B.My wife and I have eaten twice here in the last few weeks. Both times we have had great service and delicious food. Prices are on the higher side for the area but the food was certainly of a high standard and more upmarket than a typical pub/restaurant which I'm sure is the intention. I hope this place get a more visitors as it deserves a chance to succeed and gain in popularity but it needs time and visitors... give it a go.

C. C.It was very busy tonight. We booked a table for 7.30pm and we got served at nearly 8.45pm. Although this sounds unacceptable we were kept updated every 20 minutes and a member of staff repeatedly apologised. They explained why there was such a delay. When we finally got our food it was absolutely delicious. All the meals were piping hot, well presented and very tasty. It was worth the wait and in all fairness to them, this was the first time this had happened, so we'll worth the 5 stars.

B. L.Since its relaunch (summer 2017), Thackeray has transformed the previous second rate pub into a classy venue with great food worthy of a fine dining establishment. Having said that, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.
We have previously eaten lunch here, (which was excellent and reasonable) but on this occasion (1st November 2017) we celebrated a birthday with friends and enjoyed dinner. We ordered fillet and ribeye steaks as well as the lamb rump for mains. All of the dishes, including starters, were cooked to perfection. The steak and lamb were exceptional. I have never eaten such a magnificent fillet steak. The presentation of the food was very appealing and showed off the skills of the chef, Royston. We ordered a couple of additional side dishes to go with the main course but to be honest, it was not necessary and we couldn't finish them.
Front of house was managed by Nico and his team. Everyone was helpful, professional and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble.
Prices vary depending on what you chose to eat, with steaks being the most expensive but more than worthy of their price tag due to the quality of the ingredients and portion size. As someone that eats out regularly, I would rate this evening's meal as one of the best I have ever eaten, with the fillet being the best ever. Thanks to everyone for making this such a fantastic evening.

Thackeray restaurant/pub is a diamond in the rough.
Decent menu cooked to order and perfect.
The service very good and the menu some thing for every one .
All cooked fresh to order best eatary in the area.
Very clean as well which is a breath of fresh air.
As some you visit still has food from the last who knows how many hanging about.
My wife has visited with friends but this was my first time should had ate there before.
Well done to all staff and the kitchen keep it up I will definitely recomend .
