T. M.Not been here for about 3 years. Booked for Father's Day. Food and service was lovely. Whilst we knew this was a pet friendly pub we were a little surprised to see dogs sat on the chairs eating from plates on the table. Not what I had remembered about this pub. There were plenty of outside eating areas that could have accommodated pets.
E. M.The Sunday night quiz is so good, Rosie presents it so fabulous and keeps all the teams entertained. Some teams better than others but all round a great atmosphere. I believe Rosie is about to start making her own quiz which will be even more exciting.
L. H.Great venue. We ordered to table via app which you can QR scan to take you straight to play store / app store to get (app similar to wetherspoons app). Track and trace form and app easy to fill in / download, QR codes everywhere to speed things up 👍. Redirect we scanned from table (also has table number)
We managed to eat by just turning up and they were happy for us to arrange tables after rocking up.
In via entrance on main road (accessible via wheelchairs) toilets were clean and accessed to right of the main bar as you walk in entrance.
Prices for drinks a bit deer but food was great and service very good and polite!
Parking for about 20ish cars.

J. R.The Sunday lunch was OK but not very warm. The pensioners meal of fish and chips left a lot to be desired. About half a dozen chips and the tail end of fish. Would have been better off with child's meal.

Lovely atmosphere in the pub and toiletries available in the ladies. Couldn't fault it, well done The Black Griffin and thanks to our waitress who was fab!

Scampi was over cooked bordering on burnt chicken very dry sausages nearly black pineapple over cooked.
I'm sure they must have a different chef since the last time which is a shame because its a lovely place. And the staff work very hard
G. J.This is a brilliantly run establishment in the heart of Lisvane, Cardiff. The food is one of the best examples of great local pub food, really enjoyed, this is matched by the outstanding service by Management and all Staff. I will certainly return weekly, this is an absolute must for genuine foodies or if you prefer a relaxed drink in a relaxed environment. The attention to Covid restrictions and guidelines by the team is second to none, feel so safe here. Excellent.

j. f.Just popped in for a drink. Found £5 on the floor just as we went in. Gave it to the barman and said give it to charity if no one claims it. Lovely pub but the windows and doors next to smoking area were open so the seating area downstairs reeked of smoke. So we moved and sat upstairs.
Also outside seating area is on the main road.

Nice open upper restaurant seating area to give a pleasant & different experience you would normally expect at any other similar style pub. Very popular with the locals & prices reasonable, would recommend.
I. M.Arrived here at 3.10pm on a Tues with 3 others for a small birthday late lunch. Ordered drinks and was then told there would be no food till 4pm when chef arrived, even though food should be served all day. The young lady behind the bar was very polite and apologetic but said it was bosses decision. When we finally did receive food it was excellent & quickly served however if you advertise food all day you should at least post a notice on the doors and/or on the bar if this is not the case so customers can decide whether to stay & wait or go elsewhere. As we'd ordered drinks felt compelled to stay.

C. N. R.It's one of our local pubs. It's got a friendly feel to the place and does some decent food. Seating outside in the summer where you can sit and relax. Inside they have plenty of TV screens and always showing live sport in the evening.

Everything was fresh, very tasty and very reasonably priced. Well worth taking a look if you are in the area and hungry.

n.Just gone up a star for me ... free wifi at last! Great local pub first class traditional miserable landlord ... just perfect. Proper beer kept really well in a classic old school atmosphere with a few regulars talking proper 'manpubshite'. Restauranty and splendid at one end and big plasma showing sport above an open fire at the other end. You can stick you're cafe bar where the sun don't shine ... long live the pub!
