Great selection of beers, nice venue and tasty food. Had the burger with strips of steak, chips were on point and the burger did not disappoint. Friends had the kebab which they enjoyed as well. A lot of veg and vegan options.

Very large choice of guest ale's and nice comfortable atmosphere, upstairs was spacious and neatly decorated! I appreciate it being an ale and beer house that there are a wonderful selection of both however we were a party of 8 and we were all beer drinkers bar one who drinks cider. Absolutely amazing experience. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, greeting us as we came in, and the space inside is lovely. Theres a huge vegan and vegetarian selection, nearly half the menu, and it tastes amazing. We had the 'buttermilk chicken' and fries, and I still cant stop thinking about them, it was so tasty. Will definitly be going again, and cannot reccomend strongly enough to others.

Head of Steam were overwhelmingly accommodating for my disability going above and beyond to allow me a normal experience on a busy match day! They also accepted my dog and had treats with a bowl of water which he loved! The staff were so friendly and helpful and were excellent and polite when dealing with difficult customers! Lovely sharer vegan nachos but unfortunately the vegan burger and my partners bourbon burger were too greasy and the chips had way too much salt on them. The peach blossom wasn't to our liking but that's not on them. A nice chill place if you don't mind the overly greasy nature of the burgers they serve.

One of the best places for a burger and beer if Cardiff! Great vegan options too👌 The beer menu is varied and good quality, they also have awesome alcohol free beers too. Give the Drop Bear a try!

Spacious and welcoming! Staff knowledgeable and friendly with regards to beer recommendations and food options. Due to covid regulations, we were unable to order from bar, however staff was very good at visiting our table often. We ended up having several drinks and snacks, and then ordered takeaway. The food was delicious! We will definitely visit again soon. Highly recommended.

This excellent bar and eatery is a hidden gem in Cardiff. For beer lovers there is an extensive range of craft and micro market beers. Great selection of ciders and up beat lagers too. The gourmet burgers and food is delicious and accompanied by a great dose of top notch customer service. I would certainly recommend a visit!

Nice staff, cozy place with good music thats not in your face when your eating. Menu has recently changed so I don't know if it will have the large amount of vegan/vegetarian options. Amazing food here!! There's such a great choice of vegan options too! There's a wide range of drinks and have some more obscure options to try out.. There are two floors so there's plenty of seats and the staff are all really friendly! I'd highly recommend stopping here for a beer and a burger! Or anything else on their menu! 😋

The landlord is let me try the lager and not only that gave me a detailed run down of the lagers origin and how it’s the only lager owned by royalty absolutely brilliant pub and I’m from Yorkshire so that’s a big shout !

What a place! I've been to a few of the head of steam pubs and the one in Cardiff is awesome! They have such a huge range of beer, spirits, ales, lager and wine, there really is something for everyone with brands aswell as local and more independent brewerys. The building Itself is clean, with loads of room and an absolutely awesome bar! It's wheelchair accessible and The staff are great, from recommendations for beer and food, which there's a huge menu and it's absolutely fantastic! Both for vegans and meat eaters, Really do recommend the food!

Good glass of delirium Red, worth visiting for drinks, however avoid food, ordered chicken wings which were basically covered in batter, no flavour, no marinade. Definitely come here if you like belgian beer, however if you like food a tesco sandwich would be more advised

Spent 2 days in Cardiff.Stopped off into this pub for a few drinks on the 1st night.Staff were friendly and accommodating.Nice relaxed atmosphere. Fantastic selection of drinks that should meet any beer lovers needs. Can get busy, but even during these times service was quick and the bar staff were still more than happy to help you choose a beer. I didnt have food here, but the table next to us did and it looked really good, so will be trying something next time I visit. The price of beers varies with some being a standars price for a pint of beer, and some of the more rare beers being more expensive.

Came in Saturday completely on the off chance as we were walking past and so glad we did. the decor and atmosphere was great. Staff were friendly and professional. only wanted a bite to eat but after seeing the wide selection of unusual beer and rugby on the t.v we stayed a lot longer. i had a juice burger with a side of mac & cheese that was one of the best I've had. Was an awesome unexpected visit which surpassed expectations. met some really friendly people here which made it a very comfortable place to visit. you made what would of been a tedious day of shopping one to remember. Thank you. will definitely be back to sample other meals on the menu.

Fantastic bar, very friendly and helpful staff especially considering I walked up to the bar and asked for an interesting darkish beer (without any real clue what that would mean). I wasn't rushed and was treated really well, especially considering that the bar was about to fill with hundreds of hungry/thirsty rugby fans about to head to judgement day. I'm coming back next year, and will be heading straight for this bar.

Has a lovely look here considering I worked in this building before the head of a team set up its 100000% better. The staff were lovely too with a really good range of drinks to choose from. The food itself was a bit of a let down. But this was not down to the chef, what we ate was cooked to perfection! It's the menu that let's it's down. Trying to mix vegan options with meat options is a risky way to go. Especially when it doesn't marry together on the plate or in your mouth. The vegan version of the bbq pulled pork is one to skip over... But the pizzas. Credit where its due were perfect and free of grease! Thanks for a nice spot of lunch. It was still a good experience and I'll be back for more.

The place was very cosy slightly like being in a modern day saloon but with cocktails and contemporary art on the walls. Loved the interior myself. Friendly staff and more importantly the food was tasty with really great vegan options. They also gave me 10% off a drink for inconvenience with adding sauce on top my meal when I ask for it in the side. It wasn't a big deal they eradicated it promptly, meanwhile I enjoyed their skin on fries. Little on the pricier side but not distortionate. Very much worth the money. I would recommend this place! 😋

Having visited twice in the last week I can safely say this is a vegan must-visit in the centre of Cardiff. It's a great space that's perfect for passing a few hours with a pint, with a bar downstairs and table seating up top for a more restaurant-style atmosphere. It'll certainly satisfy your cravings if you're looking for a delicious burger, pizza or dessert, and covers most dietary requirements. And it'll do it quickly - both times I visited (a weekday early evening and a Saturday afternoon) the food arrived within 5-10 minutes, but didn't taste rushed in the slightest. Will definitely be visiting again - it's so great to have yet another fairly priced, reliable vegan spot in the city centre.

Great bar but expensive. The reason it is expensive is because the beer here is all very high quality craft beer from around the world. Food is an ok price and good. You can get tapas and beer pairings. It is an untapped verified venue which is great if you use that app for keeping track of which beers you've had. The music isn't too loud and is ok, seating is good, staff are lovely and service is good. You can pay on card and there is no min spend. I really recommend this bar, great bear and atmosphere.

Disappointing... The place is.OK, just a generic bar really. However, the toilets are way below standard. Only two cubicles in the gents, one without toilet paper, the other with no lock on the door. Also, one of the urinals was blocked, leaving a large pool of water all the over the floor. Obviously they are not being checked regularly. This is a relatively new bar which is far from cheap. Would expect better. Also, when I ordered a Gin & Tonic, I was served with the smallest bottle of tonic I've ever seen. Luckily, there are plenty of other nice bars in Cardiff to choose from. I will walk straight past next time.
