B. M.A brief visit for a drink and wind down after a 9 miles ramble in the area. The staff are really friendly and on the ball in terms of customer service. A plentiful selection of real ales available straight from the barrel all at £4.10p a pint. A really pleasant pub.
T. K.If you like onion rings, amazing food and great staff then this is the place for you. Massive onion rings in the lightest crispy batter are a definite must when you come here. Leave enough room for a pudding as they're pretty darn good too. We will definitely be going again

Not much more can be said. This is a pub which shouts "Please come back" and you will.

E. P.Booked last minute for a family meal wanting to try somewhere different, two fussy eaters one also being vegetarian. On arrival we had a lovely welcome offering us a selection of tables and we decided on a cosy table by the fire. Good choice of wine and beers which were offered to us straight away. Great choice of menu with the curry night also on offer. We chose soup, ckn wings and two lots of calamari to start. All amazing and well presented, calamari dishes had the best looking side salad I’ve seen for a long time! Mains was 3 of us opting for the sirloin steak with mushroom and Stilton sauce and the vegetarian having the halloumi skewer. Steaks were perfect, the service was excellent. Thanks for a great evening!

N. H.Very lovely food. Was told of a wait time for a table, which was fine, staff kept us informed all the way through. Waiting staff couldn't have been more helpful, it was nice to see staff that wanted to work (for younger generation especially). Only down side was no mention of alcohol in a sauce but that was quickly rectified with out any issues to the staff. However that being said all food was cooked to order and home cooked. Can not recommend this pub enough will definitely be arranging another visit.

J. N.I have dined here a while ago and the food was good, I went here yesterday for Sunday dinner and the food was still as good as I remembered it to be. Large portion sizes, friendly service and super quick. This place has a large car park and a beer garden, I will certainly be back again sometime. Thanks.

Only off putting thing was one of the locals leaving the bar to go across the road and urinate in one of the houses hedges when he was only feet away from the pubs toilets not nice at all and really no need either. But this is not the pub or staffs problem really.

R. T. B.Went for an evening meal expecting yet another pub doing food as opposed to a proper restaurant. I had a nice surprise. Attentive table service(didn't have to go to the bar all evening) infact everything was restaurant standard. The food was excellent with large portions. And the bonus is it has it's own car park.
K.My family and I, which consisted of 4 adults and 2 children under 2 yrs of age decided to go to the Sportsman's Rest for Sunday lunch. We were warmly greeted as soon as we arrived. We we given a choice of tables to choose from as we had small children.
The lunches arrived promptly with a varied selection of vegetables and was asked if we required more to just ask. The portions were more than ample and the quality of food was excellent. The gravy was home-made and to the right viscosity, not runny water like some places provide.
Sandra the Landlady introduced herself and made us feel very welcome.
We were to full to have pudding, but stayed for the outside entertainment of a band and bouncy castle in the beer garden.
Would definitely return and highly recommend to anyone.

We arrived an hour earlier than our booked slot, and were offered a table near the bar if we wanted, which we accepted as it was ideal for us. Food was nice, but unfortunately took a while to arrive as there was a mistake with service. We overlooked this however as it is a nice place to relax.

Sandra and Huw run a fantastic pub/restaurant and you are always made welcome by their enthusiastic young staff, nothing is too much trouble and it's good value and the food is always of a good Standard. I would recommend anyone to come here for a meal and friendly atmosphere!

P. W.I moan about something everytime I go out but not this time . This is the best Sunday lunch i have ever had inc mothers nans wifes and mine . Fresh hot soft meat tastey real gravy . Not one thing to moan about . Perfect. Please don't miss this because of other reviews they dont really appreciate the amount of customers that need serving and the staff try and be as fast and polite as possible it's a hard job front of house and in the kitchen . Some people should give them the respect deserved stop moaning and enjoy themselves. Will definatly return my new local even if it is 25 mins away

R.Been here several times over the last few months and every time it’s been a really enjoyable experience outstanding food freshly prepared and the Sunday roast is one of the best I have had.. the service is fast and friendly it’s situated in beautiful surroundings in the heart of peterston super Ely there’s plenty of outside space for sunny days we will definitely be going back on a regular basis .. I’ve noticed one or two not so good reviews and feel that they are harsh and from my experience very far from the reality of it give it a try it won’t disappoint you from a very happy customer
