Nothing fancy, old local pub, to have few drinks in before the night starts, it is an efficient pub with variety of drink options. I like the beer called "Camden Town"

My partner and I went in last weekend to try out their new pizza oven and it was amazing, by far the best pizza I've had! Could tell it was all handmade and with fresh ingredients! The staff were beyond lovely as well, will definitely be going back soon!

My partner and I went to the Fat Cat to try out the new pizza oven and it was honestly the best pizza I've had! you could tell it was freshly made and the dough hand made. I would highly recommend to anyone. Very impressed with the vegetarian and vegan options too. Very quick and friendly service, will be visiting again very soon.

Freindly pub with plenty of beer choices, however no stouts other than Guinness. Had a few local brews too. Came during pizza night, although pizza was slow to serve it was tasty!

Great selection of beers although a little on the pricey side. It's a small dinky pub with great modern character. The only downside was that the menu had the old prices on and boy have the prices gone up in a short period 👀

Lovely place, smart indoor seating and a nice new little roof terrace, too. Really nice landlord and bar staff, great selection of ales and beers/lagers as well as wines and spirits. Shame we're only visiting the area or it would be a local for sure.

Good choice of real ales plus bottled beers, gins and tonics etc. Not too crowded. New upstairs function room with covered balcony. Food served - see website for times. Brewery trips also organised plus quiz nights. Be useful to have a handle to help maneouvre the steep front steps

Fantastic little pub on the edge of town, with more cask ale then you can shake a shakey thing at and at least 15 Belgium beers in bottles.

First pint back in a pub and as always The Fat Cat did not disappoint. Great selection of beer, very hospitable and attentive staff/owner. All in all if you like ales then this the place for you. We will go back to Colchester just to visit this place.

Menu is more modern and varied than I would have expected for a pub that also does great beer, the food was of a standard higher than I would have expected. Best pub burger I've ever had. The menu also gives great value, the prices are low (in my opinion) and the portions are good sized.

Friendly local pub. Didn't notice any TVs or music so good if you want a quiet drink with a friend... Not so good if you're hoping to watch the footie. You can order takeaway and eat in, they'll give you plates and knives and forks - no charge.

Similar to the fat cats in Norwich and Ipswich, a great selection of real ales in a proper barrel room. Good beers and friendly environment. When not serving food I believe you can order in takeaway.

If you are going to mercury theatre or cinema and like to get away from chain restaurants, take a delightful little detour! Can highly recommend Ox cheek meat pie, Ham hock and (homemade) warm scotch egg platter Buttermilk chicken burger! Great Belgium beers! Surroundings are more rubbed down to basics chic rather than “ladies wot lunch” but food is so worth the 8/10 minute detour!

Disappointed, l have book our Christmas meal for the Fat Cat for the past 3 years, this year our booking was a night mare l emailed all our menu choice through spoke to staff on the phone about our day. We arrived on the day to be told they did not have our booking, they fitted us in and the food was nice, overall l was disappointed l worked hard to give my friends and family a nice time and meal, getting menus together a sending them in on time.trouble is we enjoy the fat cat do we trust them too book for Christmas 2019 ?

So so, not a big range of beers as the boards would have one believe, no mild, no Wherry, everything seems to be leaning toward the American type beers. It is a very noisy pub as all walls are hard and ceiling is low and sound reverberates.

Venison Haunch - worthy of The Shangri-La! I’m lucky enough to travel and stay in some fabulous hotels. The Venison Haunch here was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The chef is incredible!
