A wonderful find! I've had a fabulous dinner this evening at this quintessentially English inn. Simon behind the bar was wonderful making suggestions and recommendations. Wonderful kitchen team whose food was fantastic, well priced, fresh, totally scrumptious and served with a smile. I had a great evening - the Swan Inn is most definitely worth a visit; very attentive, caring and knowledgeable staff, wonderful cosy indoor space, glorious garden outside - my advice save room for dessert!

One of the most lovely pubs in the area and I definitely recommend visiting. It has amazing food and the kindest service that we’re willing to make special arrangements for a vegan in our party.

We started from here to canoe on the River Stour for a Santa Paddle. It was a reasonably large group and the pub opened early to accommodate us, which was very much appreciated on a cold December morning. A lovely fire was a lite in the bar area. On offer were some rather delicious sausage rolls, hot chocolate and coffee. The staff were cheerful and friendly. We will be going back for a meal soon.

Amazing food (we had one of the best roast beef dinners I have had in a while) and lovely relaxing atmosphere. Staff were friendly (made our 2 and 4 gear old welcome) and offered flexible menu choices for them. The dessert was overcooked a little and they were very apologetic about this and gave us another one swiftly. Will definitely be returning. Thankyou.

Really nice little pub in the country, friendly staff and great selection of beers and gin.

Awesome little pub with top quality food and beer to match.

A Very nice quaint little village pub

Another brilliant gem in the area and another amazing pub out of town. Beer, wine and spirit selection is first class. Great seating outside in the summer, warm and cozy in the small front bar by the fire during the winter. I hear good things about the food but haven't eaten here myself yet

Nothing short of amazing. Beer, food, staff, locals, all top drawer.

Pretty old pub serving tasty treats (vegetarian options almost tempted me away from a Sunday roast) as well as excellent versions of traditional dishes (by far the best roast beef I’ve had in ages!). Friendly, helpful service from owner and staff to boot. Highly recommended.

Delightful country pub that pays attention to the beers on offer as much as it does the wines. Ever changing daily menu, Sunday roasts to absolutely die for. Welcoming environment and staff, pleasantly decorated and well worth a visit.

We have visited the Swan a number of times and each of these has been a delight. The food has always been wonderful and the drinks selection fabulous. Above all however are the staff who are so incredibly welcoming and make the visit so memorable and always find the most amazing drinks to suit whatever you're eating. I especially send a big thank you to Jane and Ed!! I thoroughly recommend!

Popped in for a swift with Mrs N one afternoon. Wine was nice and cold, cider not so. We didn't try the food as we got there after 3 so stopped serving, but still a nice little pub and a lovely garden to sit in.

Great place to eat. Lovely atmosphere and grest food. A delightful home cooked menu with a chef who creates plates of food that ate superb. Jane, your host, is so welcoming and our regular visits are a real treat

Stopped in for a pint at the end of the walk, barman was very welcoming and recommended a few beers, went with the kriek boon and it was incredible. Lovely beer garden, friendly staff and beautiful backdrop, will definitely go again.

This is a real gem and I cannot recommend this wonderful country pub highly enough. The staff, especially the landlady, were very attentive and exceptionally welcoming. We will definitely be going back!

Friendly pub with good beer and food. Own jetty on the river Stour if you fancy paddling up for a pub lunch. Will be top of my visiting list post covid!

Excellent food and perfectly conditioned beer, A very friendly welcome in a lovely cosy pub. The pub brews some beer of its own and the porter I tried was delicious. Heartily recommended.
M. Y.
This is a classic English pub. I have been there three times. On the first two occasions the service was excellent. On the third, I found the manner of the landlady unhelpful. The younger staff were fine.
L. S.
As long as you're happy to try different beers then this is the pub for you. Pace yourself and enjoy what they have to offer.
The food is a cut above the usual, no frozen reheated food.

Reached the Swan via a kyak and couldnt have been happier. Lovely staff, drink and food was delightful. Ploughman's was fantastic as was draft lager. Happy customer, definitely recommend

Brilliant little pub, friendly owner and staff. Food is really tasty and the wine list is brilliant with good value to be found. Highly recommended!

Excellent beer grown and brewed on site, very pleasant surroundings and jolly good hosts, my son informs me that the food also is to die for and I fully intend to investigate next time I'm in that neck of the wood's, a truly worthwhile experience all round.

Exquisite food in a beautiful pub with fantastic service, every dish we had from starter to dessert was perfection! Couldn't recommend more highly.

Myself & my fiancé had such a wonderful meal last night.
We have eaten in lots of lovely restaurants, but I must say that the food is cooked to very high standard.
The atmosphere and staff couldn't be any nicer.
We enjoyed our evening very much, a real cosy & lovely place.
We have eaten many times in this area in nice places , Talbooth , milsons & the sun , but the swan is the most certainly the nicest we have eaten in.
Thank you for our lovely evening Saturday 7th October.
Kirk & Elaine.

We had coffees and hot cross buns. A really nice pub to stop at for a drink when on a journey up the A12. I have never eaten here, but the whole place is cosy with log fires and it would be memorable to stop for food.

Sometimes, if you frequent often enough, it's easy to take somewhere for granted.. So after popping in for a new years meal i thought it time to mention that they've managed prove that Simplicity is the greatest sophistication... Many thanks to Simon, Jane and sfaff for welcoming us into their fine rustic pub for the last few years... Happy New Year

I'm in the area a couple of times a year and when I am, I make a point of visiting the Swan Inn. The reason is because of the great selection of Belgian beers. Also, set in an old building, it gives you that traditional country pub atmosphere.
E. M.
Amazing team there. Very nice and friendly staff . Food was excellent, best burger or this year! Also a good assortment of beers
I. C.

The total package. Atmosphere, character, great food, lovely staff, a "landlady" who is an absolute delight and a great hostess, and a select of drinks to cater for any palate or taste. A real gem!

J. K.
Historic pub. Good selection of beer. Great food. Friendly staff. Really enjoyed it.

Gorgeous, as near to my own home cooked roast dinner as you can get... Soft rare sirloin of beef, decent roast potatoes, proper Yorkshire puds, swede puree, gorgeous braised red cabbage, spring cabbage, roast carrot, parsnip and real proper gravy.. Nice thing about this place.. Not a huge menu for a Sunday 5 dishes but cooked superbly well, quality over quantity does it for me every time.. Ohh and followed by strawberry and sherry trifle... And selection of beers that I shouldn't be driving haha
R. M.
Very friendly staff and fellow customers. Their vegetarian curry was exceptionally warming and filling. Delicious.
B. H.
Wow what a charming building - built in 1631. Excellent bar. Food menu is limited however. Staff was extraordinary - like family. A must visit.
