Brilliant bar staff, all very friendly and welcoming. The landlady is amazing would rate this pub higher then a 5 star if I could. The decor is very modern, beautiful lounge area as well. Prices are good and whatever sport you want on you can have highly recommend popping in

This place has a great atmosphere and is frequented by the LGBT community. It is VERY welcoming to straight people and holds two karaoke nights a week on Weds and Fridays. I've lost count of the number of straight people who have visited for the first time and left at the end of the evening saying they were a bit wary at first but what a great night they had - it is a very friendly and welcoming place unless you're a complete knob which unfortunately was the case with the guy in question with the very rare incident that the previous reviewer described. Very definitely worth a visit especially on a Wed or Fri if you're looking for music and a good laugh and time.

Recently refurbished to perfection. Always friendly with sports TV, pool and darts plus regular events such as Karaoke. Great pub

The Lion Ardleigh is a traditional British pub, and welcomes allcomers. It is tastefully decorated inside retaining it's original timber beams. The Lion catered for my mothers funeral recently and they did a fantastic job. The buffet provided was varied and very good quality, something for everyone, and the drinks were provided quickly and efficiently and it was very good value for money. The welcome was second to none and the Landlady Leanne and her husband Alex made me feel calm and at ease straight away with their sensitivity in organizing everything under very sad circumstances. They even came up with some suggestions which I found very helpful as I had never organized a funeral before. I would not hesitate to use The Lion Ardleigh again as I was so impressed with everything, and I would definitely pop in for a pint or two next time I am in Ardleigh.
