Entering my top 5 old school boozers with a bullet. This is a beauty. A free house, cosy, with fires for winter evenings and a garden for summer afternoons. Perfect.

Probably the best ale house in Colchester. Its a hidden gem but don't let the map fool you its only a few minutes walk from town. Very old fashioned looking pub with a good ale and cider selection. Only thing I miss is they used to have a little glass snack cupboard on the bar with things like tunnocks tea cakes which has now gone.

Gorgeous friendly pub with enclosed gem of a beer garden.Great selection of Colchester Brewery Ales at affordable (non-london) prices! Very centrally located a stone's throw from Colchester Town station, very reasonable parking in Napier Road Car park nearby. Highly Recommended!

Well-lead Pub with friendly staff and people who seem to know well how to keep a cellar. The pub is comfortable and clean. Outside you'll finde a rather large and beautiful beer garden.
Certainly one of the best pubs in Colchester.

A Colchester institution, it wasn't always to my taste, but over last few years has changed for the better, still has the character and good beer, but now feels welcoming, and is a great place to hang out and relax. Beer garden is gorgeous and perfect place to spend a summers afternoon.

In my top ten favourite pubs in the UK.
Great beer, open fire pretty garden, nice clientele.
Some of the furniture from the 1960s... Like going into a time machine; please don't get rid of them!

One of my favourite real ale pubs in the whole country. Always visit when seeing friends in Colchester.

Nice pub. Friendly bar staff. Great selection of beers. Almost always a new stout/porter on tap.

A proper honest pub. Great beer. Very friendly and welcoming landlord & landlady. Would highly recommend a visit.

Friendly, intimate pub, with a sun catching beer garden.
Really competitively priced selection of real ales, ciders and craft beers.
