Reviews of The Playhouse - JD Wetherspoon
C. G. P.
As per usual another building that has been brought to life and restored by Wetherspoon's.
The food and drinks was as expected to a good standard, bar and seating area clean and tidy. Good choice of beers in this pub. Overall I would definitely recommend it as a stop off .

Not the best Wetherspoons we have visited but it is ok.. and still worth a visit.
The Playhouse building itself is full of history and information, which is lovely... Colchester is great for this.. the place has a wealth of character.
However, found the staff to be not overly friendly and a little unkempt. As you walk in the front tables seem to be filled with regulars and the place is a little grubby and dingy.
Overall, great for a pit stop..
P. D.
It's ok. Fantastic use of a historical old building. Not the best Wetherspoons, but hey, Colchester ain't the best town! Usual great value drinks and food.
F. M.
Nice and typical. As usual, the company JD Wetherspoon makes me happy. Found through the app, I went over the weekend as I imagined crowded and full of people. A theater-like venue with a fake audience in the stands above.
A. B.
Given I'm an experienced wetherspoons diner this one had a great rating from me. Drinks were delivered to the table in two minutes of ordering on the app and the food was delivered promptly too. Friendly staff who cleared the table soon after finishing.
J. W.
they have a large menu here that you can order from an app on your phone (you can also order in person if you wish). the food and drinks are good quality and the price is fair. the experience is quite fun if you go with a group as well.
T. H.
Not as good as our one the Red lion in the market place Doncaster, good value and pleasant like how the original inside has sensitavely been kept .but the food could have a been lot more warmer , our last visit was spot on
C. W.
Quite an experience to eat in an old theatre with all the decorations & some props there.
Good hot food. BUT appaling about cleanliness, tables not cleaned between customers...😲 we did it ourselves, carpet needs a good hoovering and empty cans under the tables....pity especially in present situation 👎
L. B.
A really solid Wetherspoons. Such an interesting building - definitely recommend trying to get a table on the stage for a novel experience. Varied, cheap menu and fast, cheerful service that you'd expect from Wetherspoons. The fact you can still buy a good pint of beer for well under £2 is mind blowing. Definitely one of the best Wetherspoons I've visited.
t.
Had a mini mixed grill with a soft drink was served relatively quickly lovely a hot very tasty too. Only slight moan is drink was served with ice when I chose no ice.
Not a big deal but when it wasn't busy and lots of staff you would think they could get that right 😉 also no mustard
H. H.
Went with my teenage daughter. Food very good for major chain. Quick and efficient. Would be 5 stars but no condiments offered so had to ask and get.
C. S.
This is one of the best Wetherspoon's pubs I have been to (and I have been to a lot). I had the large mixed grill which is my favourite Wetherspoon's dish and only had Pepsi as I was driving.
Staff were friendly and welcoming. It wasn't that hot in there despite it being 30°C outside and that there wasn't any air conditioning.
Great decor using celebrity cardboard cutouts.
Rarely come to Colchester but if I do, I will come back here.
C. K.
A typical Wetherspoons use of an old building. It's great to see. Many of the theatre features are incorporated into the renovation which makes for a good atmosphere.
I have visited many such Wetherspoons pubs and and always intrigued by the imagination put into the "adaptions" put into these buildings.
Well done Tim Martin and Co. Long may you continue this sterling work.
M. D. J.
Cheap and cheerful, it's a Wetherspoons after all. Friendly staff, large menu selection and plenty toilets. My only crit is that it can feel a bit dark when you enter and the tables need to be cleaned a bit more. Otherwise it's a win win.
C. C.
Always quite during the day, which is great to relax and enjoy either a meal or a beverage. The top seating area is always fun to look at when they add new puppets or cutouts
M. A.
Early on a Friday evening they had plenty of staff and the girl that served me had a lovely attitude and personality. Beer was good too.
k. H.
Loved it, very unique venue
S. M.
Amusing set up for a pub since it was once a theater. It gets very busy but has lots of atmosphere. Great food, chips are especially good!!
k. l.
Lovely pub. Food excellent except breakfast time when it comes out lukewarm, depends what time you go in for breakfast I think.
J. C.
Decent enough Spoons. Food and drink as good as its always is. Nice old theatre surroundings.
Allergen advice always excellent too.
P. M.
One of the better Wetherspoon pubs I've been to with a quirky theme. As with most 'Spoons, nothing to complain about beer-wise but on this occasion the hand-pull ale selection wasn't to my liking; little in the way of pales so I had a bottle of Brewdog Hazy Jane which is always a welcome sub.
Friendly staff and locals, good location.
s. m.
Superb theatre setting, friendly helpful staff and great (amazingly cheap) food/drinks. I had the free refill Mocha coffee*3! Nice relaxing vibe, good clean toilets. Will definitely visit again.
K.
Pretty good most of the time. Sometimes the people will forget something I have asked. Like cleaning the table from the last people, but that tends to be when they are super busy, so it's understandable. The food is decent. Cheap and cheerful as we say.
B. T.
Great lively food an a great place great that weTherspoon take over thease old buildings that would otherwise remain abandoned
N. W.
Really great beer selection, cheap prices, fast service and the staff seem really nice. Great experience all round! There’s no music, which I prefer since I like being able to hear my friends speaking (and I doubt they’d find one genre to appeal to the wide range of demographics that come here). It gets very busy on Saturday nights and the like, but the staff are very quick to serve you. One of the better spoons
R. O.
Absolutely spotty dog building one of the best I've been in
S. S.
Great place for a night out and cheap drinks !! Good atmosphere with lots if seating but go at the right times as does get busy
H. F.
Great place for an affordable drink and a meal. Service good as always. Surroundings brilliant. Highly recommended.
d. b.
Went to have somrthing had small mixed grill but when i got it it was cold. But fare dews i told them and there cook a compele new mesl and that was lovely and hot.
A. M.
The one thing I loved the most about this pub is their structure (the way they arrange everything) and the ambience. Food and drinks, above average.
s. H.
Was impressed with the decor. Main talking point whilst we were eating
S.
Popped in before going to theater. staff polite, attentive.
Had curry and drink. lovely, fast, service.
only complaint was sticky floor .
S. S.
Typical Witherspoon Pub, with a twist, used to be a theatre, so has some interesting decorations. See if you can spot all the celebrities?
Only let down by lack of beer garden hence the score 🍻
S. G.
We visited in early July for breakfast. The food was hot and the pub clean. The man who served us kindly answered all my questions about the building, scaffolding and stage and seemed genuinely interested in sharing his knowledge.
D. F.
Always love a Spoons. Decent food, cheap pint and plenty of coffee.
Update: another delightful visit. Just enough time to eat before heading to the Headgate next door
N.
Decent food and drink variety, warm atmosphere and pretty cheap
A. K.
Pretty standard spoons, very poor connection insider, had to order in person instead of with the app but. Otherwise a. Good experience.
R. M.
It's a Wetherpoons!
Food is usually not bad, but today I ordered a Chicken, stuffing & Cranberry Panini. I was really disappointed with the amount of Chicken in the Panini. When I opened the Panini, I found three very small offcuts of Chicken, so i complained & was given a replacement, only for me to open & check it to find that it was almost the identical amount of Chicken! (see photo of the replacement!).
By this time, my wife had eaten her wrap & we had to get a move on, so I just ate it! When I opened the first Panini, They sell good priced drinks, but the place could do with a light freshen up...
A. C. B.
Same for all the Wetherspoon. Horrible coffee, hot chocolate or mocha.
T. R.
Food is decent and drinks are cheap, great for meeting up with friends on a night out
M. S.
Beer and burger . . One of the best witherspoons I've been to
Food was cooked great and friendly staff
Well worth the visit
M. L.
Great prices, sometimes quality suffers and they definitely need to do something about the gents toilets!!
D. G.
I love this wetherspoons it is the one nearest where I live and it's so quirky. One of my many favourites. It is just a wetherspoons though. Cheap drink, cheap food and good for what you spend. It is never going to be super amazing it's just bloody good for the money you spend.
K.
So busy but expected on a good Friday, food came fast, Alfredo pasta, mixed grill and chicken wings all tasted great, fresh and hot, highly recommended place to eat!
M. J. “. R.
Not the best Wetherspoons I've been in. Used to be an old theatre with a circular bar in the middle. The stalls now have celebrity mannequins. Rather dimly lit inside.
R. B.
Everytime I visit the Playhouse I will say the staff are great from the floor too front of house but the main person who I respect is the Manager Jackie who I believe needs an honour for her service X
S. H.
You can't beat the value and hardworking staff of a Wetherspoons and this is no exception. Gobsmacking interior rivalled by the old theatre of Tunbridge Wells Wetherspoons. So stylish.
R. A. C. C.
Unique and bloody big. Food was good, drinks as u would expect from a weatherspoons pub.
A. W.
Good ambiance, good food and good ciders - can't ask for more.
r. j.
Had this bad boy,delicious.
L. B.
Spacious and friendly pub with good prices and good food. No noisy music so can have a decent conversation. It's an iconic old building with tons of character. Stop by if you can, you won't regret it.
J. G.
Only went there in the day, and it's worth a viait just to see the building. Didn't stay long but they had the usual varied selection of ales.
J. H.
Great food and an amazing place! Would recommended!
H.
Fantastic and beautiful pub.... Unfortunately the men's toilets are in a very poor condition which really let's the place down....
J. T.
As to be expected with Wetherspoons The Playhouse is very popular. This venue used to be a theatre and the interior is reminiscent of the good old days. Another fabulous venue which again is often very busy. Service excellent. Staff really friendly and helpful. Food delicious. What could be better. Well worth a visit.
T. M.
Gobsmacking. Never seen anything like it. Most atmospheric pub in the UK.
And they do a nice breakfast!
S. T.
The place is nice and the prices are very reasonable. I liked my dish, the only reason I gave 4 starts instead of 5, is that my steak was not medium to well done as I have asked. Would eat other type of meat next time there.
H. W.
Great place to chill or have a great quality inexpensive meal and/or drinks. Service is great too. I highly recommend!
G. C.
Stunning interior. Good value food & drink.
S. N.
Staff where very helpful and friendly, food delivered to table quickley and well presented
L. H.
My favourite pub and always has been! Love that it used to be a theatre and that they kept the stage. The place has character!
R. C.
We ended our night out in Colchester at the playhouse. A great big venue with the old cinema being very visible, with famous people shown in the seats. Good selection of beer and spirits as you'd expect at a Wetherspoons. Friendly staff who let us finish our drinks at the end of the night.
j. m.
Beer good.
BUT gents toilets need urgent attention . Two doors missing off the three cubicles !!!
D. W.
Good range of real ales and the food is good too. Wetherspoons can't be beaten on price as well!
The place really is in need of refurbishment though.
R. W.
Great experience. Cheap drinks. Good food.
L. R.
Good cheap food. Cheap drinks. Nice atmosphere. Friendly enough for families too.
M. M.
Good cheap, beer. Barperson recommended the local brew, when I asked, and it was very nice. Toilets a bit grim. Visited on Monday afternoon.
L. P.
It is what it is, cheap and cheerful which is likely to appeal all the more in the current economic climate
S. P.
Wasn't a great experience here. My partner ordered a drink and large mixed grill. He'd already finished his dinner by the time his drink finally arrived. It's always very loud and busy in here and service for drinks is so slow. However prices are so cheap and the food is nice. Good children's menu too. Will probably go again.
K.
Good selection of gin, nice setting for a Wetherspoons. Not the classiest place for a night out but good place to stop for a quick drink or two. Food pretty average - better places nearby for similar prices.
R. B.
Great Wetherspoons pub, great food great staff lovley experience, & I would like too personally thank Jackie the manager everytime i walk in there i hope she is on shiift as she welcomes every customer that comes though the door and she goes above and beyond with the customers When you go into a restaurant i hope there is a Jackie in all weathersoons pubs X
R. T.
Loved it so friendly lost my phone and it was handed in can't get better goog food
S. M.
Cheap drinks, barely edible food hey we all love a spoons!
M. A.
Excellent service and friendly staff really enjoyed our meal.
C. S.
The staff don't act as if they care. I am not sure if I will go back.
T. J.
Different prices on similar meals not explained. Cold peas with two meals not warm cold! Fish wish very good .beer excellent. Service lovely
D. F.
Good prices - service can be slow! Good starter place.
J. C.
Unusual pub a little dark
Good food as usual
j. d.
Great bar, really enjoyed our visit
D. S.
Great service, cheep prices
S. V.
Interesting former theatre now Wetherspoons. No stout/porter or any dark ales on draught except Guinness. But a fair selection of other real ales. Clean toilets. Amazingly cheap beer as usual.
J. G.
Good food , good price, lovely helpful staff
I. Y.
The building is an excellent conversion of what was a Bingo Hall before Wetherspoons took it over. Prior to that it was one of two town cinemas and, before my time, a theatre. Inside, up in the stalls, manikins and cardboard cut-outs of celebrities look down on customers. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to see the ceiling or manikins as scaffolding covers the whole of the roof area. It has been in position for several months. Eighteen pumps are given over to real ale and the ales are rotated sufficiently frequently for the regular customer in pre-Covid times to experience 3 or 4 new ales each week. Now, one has to be satisfied with a much more restricted range.
For me, the best value day is ‘Curry Club Thursday’. There is a good choice of curries and with a pint, the price is below £8.00. Sadly, the electronic ordering system is unreliable, so without the opportunity to visit the bar, it is very much 'hit or miss' whether one gets served within a reasonable time frame. The app is also updated only sporadically, so it is unpredictable whether a particular beer can be ordered or not. Indeed, despite staff trying hard to please, the system has not yet managed to improve sufficiently to rise to the the challenge of Covid. It is all a bit of a mess.
R. A.
Very busy...table not particularly clean. Food was average..wod not visit here again.
s. e.
Service was good and quick. Quirky setting
F. H.
Nice pub but a bit rundown and very dark
M. E.
Nice pub but it does not have an external seating area so I use the Bottle Kiln at Dovercourt, a hotel with air conditioning but with staff that have no memory re which customer has been waiting for an hour to be served , well no one is perfect 😉.
O. h.
Quick service, communal. Just not clean or organised
h. s.
Great pub and atmosphere will be visiting again
B. K.
I love it in The Play House delicious food friendly staff.
S. W.
A very large plate of Large Mixed Grill - even got onion rings this time !
A. W.
The staff very polite but the food has gone down hill, 5 chips in our bowl of chips, yes that's right 5! My jacket was serisoly over cook, was gagging as was so dry, my filling was chilli and again was over cook and dry, also about a tea spoon worth for a filling for a jacket. I know it's cheap food but I do expect a bit better. Such a shame as was our go to for a family treat
G. B.
Is there a protocol at Wetherspoons to instruct staff to give you 9 chicken wings instead of the 10 as stated on the menu?
Twice I have visited the Spoons in a row and have received 9 instead of 10. Is this the great chicken wing scam?
In both instances I have made the staff aware and eventually received the missing wing after much eyebrow raising by the staff.
L. W.
Really creative idea to have a spoons in a theatre.
M. H. (.
Great pub food defo go back no issues........staff note : the disabled / baby changing toilets very dim light just about can see in there 😱😱. Would be nice for brighter new lights.
M. S.
Typical spoons experience with a really nice interior. Used to be my haunt when I lived near Colchester, can't beat a mixed grill with a pint! Not too sure about the Pinot though, tasted a bit rough when I had some.
P. C.
Exactly what you would expect good all round
L. J.
Very interesting, nice converted theatre into a huge pub, packed full, good for special occasions and big crowds, amazing.
L. D.
Came here from Cardiff one time, and I found it to be awesome. The locals are a right laugh, and the staff was friendly, and the beer is cheap. Not too sure what else you could ask for when it comes to wanting something wet.
K. H.
Great place, very quirky, got to go in and look up
H. R.
Had a breakfast the beans were stone cold but everything else was ok. Brought to the table reasonably fast.
P. B.
Nice venue and enjoyed sitting on the stage for breakfast, however ordered food from the app,had to wait 30 mins had to go to the bar to get the drinks and breakfast turned up cold and a skin over the beans that had been sitting somewhere for a while no butter for the toast had to hunt staff down it's was not busy ,but not our best experience we had going there.
R.
Quick service and friendly staff, will definitely be visiting here again.
T. N.
Came here for breakfast earlier this week. The food was good and the service was very speedy! Staff have always been polite whenever I have visited. They also have a good range of ales available to drink, as well as the usual array of spirits, beers and such. This particular pub is also really quirky with the characters sitting up top, facing the stage; the playhouse having some of it's old characteristics maintained!
y. w.
Fab place, great food, good service
L. G. (.
Haven't been here in over 12 years and couldn't believe how cheap the drinks were. We didn't have food but was impressed with the table service and the app to order. Would definitely go again.
The interior is shabby and tired but looks like they are doing work because of the scaffolding on the ceiling.
R. C.
Top beer and cider pub foods not bad either reasonable priced, and a good atmosphere
s. b.
Food was good, staff friendly.
P. r.
Always worth a visit love the table service app such a lazy night out with mate's chatting with out the loud music of the club's
T. K.
Absolutely amazing vibe! A perfect venue for drinks and food. Very cheap and considering the price, food its quiet tasty. Recommend it for an early night out!
D. R.
My own haunt for the last 20 years. Typical Wetherspoon, not great beer but, nostalgic theatre environment, place where time stands still. Worth a single visit at least.
T. H.
It's werherspoons, like maccy'ds it does what it says on the tin.
Decent reasonably priced food and drink, to a good standard countrywide. Good safe default option. Staff at colchester helpful, plus location has history which intrigued my sister in law and niece visiting from greece
J. H.
Good atmosphere. Excellent value for money.
E. Z.
Good environment and historic building, cheap drinks
R. T.
Cheap but the food is not always nice (overdone reheated chips... Yuk)
E. J.
Your typical Wetherspoons pub. You know what to expect. One advantage is that the toilets are on the ground floor.
L. J.
Good food 😋 and quickto the table
J. Q.
Love a good spoons. Can't really go wrong.
J. W.
I mean, it's a spoons. Drinks are cheap, food is cheap but is fairly nice to eat. You can have a chat with people because it's not super loud. Venue is interesting due to the theatre history. It's a good place to start a night out. I've not had a proper meal here yet however so I can't comment. But every time I have eaten I've been satisfied.
J. A.
Very spacious, Wetherspoons service with selection of inexpensive drinks and food. As it was a theatre the seats are above and around you and you are expecting a show to start. Very querky....
P. C.
Pleasant atmosphere for a quick Sunday afternoon catch up with friends
C. M.
Interesting array of life size cutouts of celebrities staring at you from the upper circle. Other than that, your friendly neighborhood Spoons experience 👍
K. (.
Very good food, good price beers, selection of quality beers and good staff service.
Note: was a 4 star now a 5 star because they are consistently good. Well done to their teams and managers!
P.s. additional new comment... I now keep coming back!
F.
lovely food, lovely drinks, lots of seating :) (finished mine, my mum is STILL eating!)
N. W.
Always good food, keeps my family happy. Warm, clean and fairly priced...
S. H.
They are all what they say on the can , this room was lovely
S. S.
Nice setting in an old converted theatre. Lovely big bar in the centre with a self serve coffee machine for those who purchase, with unlimited refills. Had to wait awhile to get a table to seat our party of 6 but was not too long. The food was ok but not great but I love that you can order and pay for it with the Wetherspoon's app on your phone and it will be delivered to your table.
S.
A really interesting building, having been a theatre previously. Great that Wetherspoons have converted it to another purpose, rather than it being knocked down. Many features have been retained too.
The breakfast here was the usual Wetherspoons great value and well cooked.
I recommend this pub for a really good breakfast, for only a fiver.
G. W.
A very pleasant experience. The one member of staff that shone, and worked so very hard is Jerry. Tall fella with a dodgy haircut, but my word, a great work ethic.
I just wish that I was recruiting at the moment.
A lovely considerate renovation of the old theatre. It's a must see.
I didn't try the food but didn't see an empty plate.
Glenn
R. P.
Although this place could do with a duster running over it, it's very cosy and a great place to eat and drink, no music so actually able to hear one another along side friendly staff and a good atmosphere once you're use to there being no music! Food is yummy and always gets to the table fast! Although most of the time there are plates left over from the previous seating I believe this is due to there being a very quick turn around with customers flying in and out at every minute of the day! Which Only speaks to one thing.. this place is very well known and is a very good place to visit :)
D. H.
Awesome place, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Easy and fast table service. Will visit again. Highly recommended.
N. B.
Nice breakfast, but could have been a bit hotter. Other than that very tasty.
J. S.
As I student I value my money a lot. The playhouse provides an amazing experience for the price you pay. it gets quite busy during the nights and dinner time to a point where it is hard to find a space to eat or drink. It is not surprising that the table will be messy after the rush period so I am surprised that a lot of people point it out. Only in small unpopular pubs it is not an issue. One can always go to a bar and ask for extra cleaning when needed. If food is cold or one got a wrong order then the pub will quickly change everything for you with no extra costs.
Would recommend to anyone who is not too obnoxious and values their money.
L. D.
Thank you celebrated my twins birthday today. Excellent food. Lovely staff. Served so lovely. Made us feel so comfortable with my autistic grandson.
B. A.
Can't give much of a review. Just had couple of cups of (refillable) coffee while waiting to meet someone. Pleasant atmosphere, was lunchtime, most tables were taken. Never had a problem with wetherspoons .
A. W.
Good ales and ciders along with good food. Too quiet as Wetherspoon's usually are. Service leaving a little bit to be desired, may be due the circular bar. Food service very good.Toilets in need of a major refit - cracked seats and broken doors (vandalism). But all that being said the politeness of the staff is impeccable. Well done to the Staff :)
T. V.
Very beautiful! Great selection of ales! Draught cider as well. Food is nice and arrives fast and hot.
J. H.
Great food - loved the fact that the balcony still exists, from when it was a Theatre.
J. P.
Always a pleasure to come to, so much easier ordering food using the new app! Food straight to your table. Can be quite noisy due to customers, but this is no fault of spoons. Will be visiting regularly! Great prices and quality food!
C. F.
First impression was dark and dingy. However once inside and having found a table, the overall impression improved. The character of the building had been preserved. We ordered via the app and breakfast appeared shortly after. A bit annoying to have to go to a machine to get your drink. Having said that, the coffee that issued forth was reasonable, and a refill was appreciated.
R. T.
Very bad night here. It started of really good and the place is really nice inside. But we had an incident in there and a guy was trying to of load drugs to us and one member off staff stuck by him 100% that was unbelievable to see. Otherwise it's a good place for a drink.
D. W.
It's a Wetherspoons, the food is good value and the staff were friendly. Shame there was scaffold up for some work that is being blocking off the view of some of the interior architecture we were hoping to see. Will have to go back when the work is finished.
j. c.
Food and drink cheap, staff always great and hard working but about time it had a deep clean considering the place has been shut for months surely this should have been done its filthy
P. R.
Beautiful place for a visit and have drink with friends surroundings are excellent
l. s.
best pub in the world.apart from my job and my home only place i ever go.been here since it opened and will stay here til i die.Staff and manager Jackie fantastic
K. B.
Nice atmosphere. Very unusual layout as it's an old theatre. Lots of private booths. Also nice that you order food and drink on an app. The food and beer was ok, not great, but ok. Tables were taking a while to be cleared.
J. C.
Would give it 5 star, but I don't like how all those characters judge me for eating my 5th bowl of chips.
T. S.
Good if you want a cheap breakfast or lunch, strange seeing so many over 60s drinking before 10.30am
P. A.
Seems a little less smart and clean than on previous visits. What's changed?
S. A.
This is a great weatherspoons! The food here is always perfectly cooked to spec. My partner and I go here at least once a week
The staff always seem very polite.
My only negative comment would be certain areas of the pub are very poorly lit.
T. “. G.
Really like visiting this unusual Wetherspoons. Still with all the original features of the playhouse and a huge number of famous dummies staring down at you from James Bond to the Queen, it makes it a very unique place to have your dinner and enjoy a beer. Food is very good and service quite fast. Tables could do with cleaning more regularly but other than that no complaints. Saturdays can get very busy.

We've been coming to the Playhouse, Colchester for at least twenty years and it remains one of best overall pubs around. Wetherspoons pubs do vary a lot in quality and I would say that the Playhouse is probably one of best ones in the country. Well run. Best value. And the quality of the drinks and food is higher than the price range would dictate. The range of guest ales, gins, lagers etc is superb. This along with friendly polite staff. Yes the bar can get busy at peak times, but with the Wetherspoons app you do not need to queue for food etc. Brilliant app by the way, one of the easiest apps to use. Keep up the good work and we will continue to come here for many years to come.

Honest David's reviews
Your normal Whether spoons pub. An old converted theatre in the streets of Colchester.
Cheap drinks and cheap food. Always nice to pop into when in town. Does get busy especially at the weekends and in the summer. You can wait quite some time to be served when it's busy.. but then again most places get like that.
The bar is in the middle of the room and you can get served all the way around it, so just sit down or stand anywhere.. your never far from the bar.
The foods ok, again normal this type of menu and quality... Suits me fine.
I give it a healthy 4****
A. m. M.
Meeting place for the local alcoholics, you will find all walks of life in this pub. From street scum to family's.
Decent size establishment with cheap drinks and food. At busy times expect a fight to get to the bar with bar staff ignoring you. On a positive note, the building has character.......
D. B.
They have kept original features from the former theatre. Friendly helpful staff
K. C.
The service and food were absolutely brilliant! Shout out to the waitress with short black hair, she was super friendly and put us in a happy mood! 😄
Will definitely be back!
L. B.
Had a 10oz rump steak that was truly amazing, slightly charred on the outside and red in the middle, just the way I ordered it. It was honestly one of the best steaks I've ever had that I didn't make myself.
d. r.
Staff friendly and drinks good don't expect the hilton but it's good for wat it is
A. F.
Definitely I had good food, but place is a bit too dark, tables are small, we couldn't fit with one plate each (I came with 3 others)
E. C.
It's OK food and drinks :)
J. C.
I am normally complimentary of a spoons due to the good level of service and same standard of food and drink. With this said this spoons failed the normal standard without a check back when we ordered food. The missed things off and one meal came out ten minutes later. I also went to the bar to get a drink and over 5 people were served prior to me despite arriving at the bar later than me. I was not waving money at the staff of being annoying in anyway to make them serve me last. Little disappointed as I know spoons is a spoons but u expect a level of service which was not delivered by the colchester branch.
J. J.
Great atmosphere and very nice location. The idea of converting an old theatre into a restaurant is very different and creates a good vibe. Good to see an old building put to use and being used for a different purpose
N. G.
Bit slow to serve at the bar and no music or TV but the drinks are cheap. Food not brilliant but what do you expect when it's cheap? Overall not bad at all and very quirky at the back...I won't spoil the surprise but go to the back and look up back towards the bar.
K. H.
Visit this place regularly great place for food and drinks! The building itself is a beautiful addition to any event. The drinks selection is vast and the food menu is packed with classics for everyone. I think Mr weatherspoon has done a fantastic job keeping prices low quality high and renovating such elegant surroundings is a wonderful treat for any town/city 👍 George orwell would be proud.
D. T.
Always loved this place and have given 5 stars previously, but the last Couple of times here we have been rather disappointed. The food was still very good and good value. However the tables were all dirty and sticky as were the menu's, and service not as good. One member of staff was indifferent verging on rude.
R. “. C.
I've visited this place for the past 5 years and have never been disappointed with the menu or service. I have only visited on Sunday afternoons and the team of bar and table staff have always been very polite and helpful.
Once inside you enter a large theatre stands and dine on stage facing the upper gallery of querky celebraty cut-outs and manikins. The walls plastered with old theatre posters and bills. A great piece of history upscaled and saved.
A. F.
We eat here normally atleast twice a week however we will look for somewhere else now as the last few weeks visits have been of a consistently lower standard then they used to keep. From the lack of staff friendliness and knowhow to the management and the substandard food from the kitchen the only thing consistent has been our disappointment.
M. S.
Good example of a nice Spoons. Good beer selection, great well presented food and a very characterful interior.
M.
Brilliant as usual, finger licking fish and chips, but wouldn't recommend buying pizza there, nothing special.
C. P.
I always visit The Playhouse when visiting Colchester. Usually 5 or 6 guest ales on. Well run by the manager there. Had a disagreement with a trumped up staff member there a few years ago, who berated me for having too many coffees - even though you can have an unlimited amount, but he has been long since dismissed. I'd only had 4 or 5 cups...
No mirrors in the gent's toilets when I went there on 7/2/2020. Bit of a disappointing thing when you're as pretty as me hehe.
A very interesting building with an illustrious showbusiness history. Would be interesting to see more of the building, and it would be a fascinating place to go if you had a time machine. There are many framed posters of past events held there, mainly from between the 1930s and 1960s, featuring stars from its time as a working theatrical venue.
The Playhouse is crammed full of attractive young ladies early on a Friday night, getting in a few cheap drinks before they go to clubs, so you could chose a worse place to start off, if you're on the pull.
Made a few nice friends there over the years, some sadly no longer with us.
Rest in peace Brian, that corner (his "office"...) just isn't the same anymore xx
n. N.
It's a 'spoons. If you're expecting Michelin star food you'll be disappointed. You want a ton of food for a very reasonable price? You're in luck. Staff are always friendly and it's cheap as chips. Drink selection is plentiful. There's never music on which may not be you everyone's taste. As I've said, its a 'spoons, you know what you'll be getting.
B. C.
A great place to have a bite to eat out drink. Unusual setting in the old Playhouse, sitting on the stage enjoying a good value meal. We had quick service and good food.
s. f.
Cheap Pint. Good Pub.
W.
Very busy at around 6pm. Very difficult to find a table to sit down. But we managed to find some tables and stack together to form a table for 8. I have managed to order my food and drink through my smartphone app and did not take long to get my food and drink from the waitress.
B. R.
Brilliant place. Friendly staff.
P. 8.
Cheap and cheerful. Surprised that the food quality is actually really good for the price. Just hate walking through cigarette smoke with my baby to get in the building, loads of people always smoking in entrance. No avoiding clouds of smoke
D. P.
Really like this pub as it is the site of an old theatre and so it has a lot of character with the old Grand circle seats being filled with cardboard cutouts of famous people as an interest. There it's plenty of room in this place. Food is good, drink selection is good and staff friendly
J. L.
What I remember from 20 years ago but covid safe and with scaffolding, same fun of no matter how many staff there are you have to wait 20 minutes to be served
M. R.
Love this wetherspoons. Always come here whenever in Colchester and never disappoints. One of the more interesting wetherspoons!
B. B.
Staff were friendly food and drinks good value for money
C. B.
Great place . Food is good as in all weatherspoons. But floors and tables very sticky. My feet stuck to floor. Toilets were discussing. Which is a shame . Staff went that friendly and didn't ask us if we were ok with food.
D. M.
An OK wetherspoons. Being my local I have been here more than other spoons. The layout is a bit of a pain when busy, as they utilise an island bar style layout meaning there is no real way of forming a queue. Staff like many 'spoons are mostly young people who really couldn't care less about you or your requirements. Toilets on busy nights are mostly a dirty mess. Being a 'value' establishment it attracts a wide variety of people including those who you'd rather not mingle with at any point of the day. Food is palatable but isn't going to win any awards anytime soon. Drinks selection is vast and they do carry some nice ales which is a plus.
An interesting building with a lot of history - shame it's a spoons.
C. A.
Great vibes great staff even better security but the staff always chuck your drinks away everytime you go toilets or for a smoke
M. B.
Love the food, the surroundings, the atmosphere, only issue having to clear own table & no opportunity to wipe it down before we ate. Excellent value for money ever time
A. A.
Love the place fish and chips spot on.
S. C.
Love the way it is still the play house theatre , this is our Grandaughters favourite place to eat. The food is great and something for everyone love the nachos. The beer Is always first class and really lime the new coffee machines well done Wetherspoons.
G. B.
Usual Wetherspoons fare. Nice classic building as this was a theatre and much of its character has been kept.
It's a very popular venue and has way more atmosphere than a lot of 'spoons. Could do with a deep clean but it's no worse than anywhere else really. All in all excellent value for money and good variety of guest beers at very low prices make this one of the few consistent pubs in town; whilst many other faddy bars come and go.
J. A.
Good atmosphere. Lovely cheap food and drinks. It still retains its charm as an old theatre with the stage, the old curtains and victorian mannequins in the circle over looking the restaurant. Very popular. x
K. D.
Had dinner late afternoon, lamb shank lovely, tikka malaga rather small portion. Will? Needs to learn customer service. As I approached the bar to order my greeting was yeah what do you want. Charming. Came back for breakfast service a little slow then a nice man opened up the till and showed me how to use the coffee machines and showed me where everything is. Lovely service sorry don't know your name but you have a slight beard and moustache and brought our breakfast to the table
A. L.
4 beers for under a tenner, need I say more!
E. B.
Very helpful staff, good choice of spirit/alcohol and good no frills food. They were brilliant help me when I fell ill and tending to me till paramedics arrived. Also days later they acknowledge me
A. M.
Nice place but very very busy in weekend 🙂
F. W.
Standard weatherspoons grub with no caveats. Table service is prompt. Due to size and busy nights, food can take a little while. Fantastic setting for a morning after or for starting the night.
J. G.
Quick, efficient and a very helpful manager.
M. L.
Great service from staff, great food.
K.
I mean, it's a Spoons. Clean, cheap and generous portions of everything (which is more than most bars can claim).
H. B.
Great place, former cinema and theatre.
G. A.
Beautiful atmosphere, very quirky as a place but that just adds to its beauty. The food is stunning and they give bottomless hot drinks. The Playhouse is an absolute gem
R. J.
Spoons is spoons. You get your 3 for £10, pull up a chair next to your mate whilst taking in the ambience of the establishment. You notice old man Harlod sat at a table with Doris, he's having the fish and chips with a pint of some sort of ale. A group of lads walk in wearing Stone Island jumpers, Nike trainers and Adidas socks.
Some doser posts your table number on snap chat and next thing you've got a plate of peas and 6 shots of sambuca turn up, the waitress isn't happy. classic.
Spoons ain't much, but it's an honest pub.
H.
For a cheap decent breakfast this place is brilliant. The staff were very friendly and we would call in again
T. M.
I love going here with my family, servers are nice, friendly and professional. Good place to watch sports as you can interact with other costumers, food is amazing and resonably priced, drinks are amazing and very affordable. Highly recommend to pop in and have a look. 🙂
M. G.
Friendly, efficient service in a unique setting. The usual Wetherspoon's value served up in in an old converted theatre. Spot the stars on the balcony, head for the stage to warm up by an open fire or sit yourself at the huge oval bar and watch the world go by.. Worth going out of your way for!
B. N.
Nice great food and a lovely setting
J. L.
Playhouse is your typical whetherpsoons pub. Cheap drinks and food. Food of which is serviced until 11pm most evenings which is great for a quick flyby eat. The quality of food does vary from day to so and the drinks are quite basic with the usual packet mixers. Overall a good cheap evening
B. B.
Excellent ambiance. Good value for money.
h. a.
Lovely breakfast and all you can drink coffee and tea.
Interior was mesmerising as it is literally an old playhouse
j. k.
The bar service was slow. Food good. Friendly atmosphere.
K.
Beautiful place, love how it used to be an old theatre! Lovely food and fast
G. M.
A very enjoyable, inexpensive breakfast in a prime town centre setting. I have dined there a few times, and the overall experience was very pleasing, l have never felt short changed-keep up the good work !!!
マ. た. げ. あ.
The best. Remember the days when I went here after exams with my mates to chill and have some drinks. Food is good for its price and the drinks are very cheap. Definitely recommend
S. M. E.
Good cheap food , good cheap beer and very friendly staff
A. B.
Well done on getting City status.
R. H.
Standard playhouse experience. Lots of mums out with thier 18 year old daughters saying 'everyone thinks we are sisters'
R. B.
Best pint of ruddles around! At £1 49p great value!
J. C.
Nice friendly staff, very nice Sunday Brunch. Not enough varied choice for dessert.
B. H.
Good location, large seating area, good choice for large groups. Food and beverage service. Fairly good use of the history and space of the building but missing 'brilliant' in terms of what could have been done.
G.
Great value & descent food, large portions served in a beautiful Old building
S. W.
What a wonderful venue, with a lot if history, the food is very good, also a very wide range of drinks, Tuesday steak night is our regular outing, it's s very busy place, but the staff cope very well and are friendly, I go there probably oince a week and the toilets are always clean, the breakfasts are value for money, also the coffee is one price and free refills,
M. B.
Nice environment friendly atmosphere. Doesn't feel clean as the lighting is really low in places so they can't really see well enough to really get it clean.
A.
Best value for full English breakfast👍
T. C.
Good selection of real ales at low prices.
Newly introduced table ordering system works well, after you get your head round it. Come and enjoy.
S. M.
fabulous service, food came out quickly and was very nice, price was good. Had to wipe table as it was a bit sticky but great otherwise
H. C.
Food is lovely. Got the sausage roll chips and beans. YUM. Avoided the bacon this time as last time it was cold and horrible. However it was prompedly replaced with hot bacon. So 4 stars. No music here.
G. H.
good cheap beer present staff never too much trouble their food ok for what it is is to have a really enjoyable night at reasonable prices fun for large parties
M. N.
Standard wetherspoons with an interesting decor
H. W.
my home away from home. the drinks are cheap and plentiful. try not to catch a tetanus in the bathroom.
K. F.
We usually love the Play House in Colchester and frequently pop in early doors for a curry on Thursday or fish night on Fridays. However, we were VERY disappointed on Friday 1.2.19 when they had run out of Fish by 5pm!!! Not good enough, there were a lot of dissatisfied customers that day 😡
N. A.
Absolutely love the atmosphere - an old theatre turned into a pub. Unique experience! The food and service were pretty good, too. One of the better places to eat in Colchester.
I. O.
Loved the ambience, good place to chill with friends.
F. L. X.
The Playhouse is an historical gem in the British pub experience. My most favourite thing about wetherspoons is the way they keep the buildings they occupy. This example is nothing short of masterclass.
The building, a beautiful theatre (opened in 1929) is kept in perfect condition, with seating available on centre stage, it really is a pleasure to eat and drink here. The art deco style and elegance is truly bewildering.
With a large selection of drinks and good food, the Playhouse is not just a pub, it is an experienced that would enjoyed by anyone.
D. H.
Great value for money, esp the steak night meal. The only niggle they brought my friend her pudding a couple of minutes after her lunch!
D. M.
Why people say they do not like weatherspoonsi do not know. Where else can you get a coffee for £1.30 and free refills all day. The beer is a great price too.
Y. N.
Love Wetherspoons. Always good food great coffee and so reasonably priced. The Playhouse is a lovely location and good atmosphere. The staff are friendly too which makes a big difference.
G. P.
Excellent beers, good food, all at a good price. Warm and friendly staff. What more could you want. Lacks only an out door seating area for the summer.
m. b.
Super quick service in well run bar clean and tidy and had a steak and jacket which was as good as anywhere but for a tenner it was fab very happy .set in an old theatre very nostalgic and beer and wine good but so cheap
P. H.
Love spoons easy food drink etc
J. D.
Very good food (even for Wetherspoons' standards) and good, honest service. Cheap, too. Interesting old theatre themed atmosphere creates a cozy feeling especially in the booths.
I. M.
Lovely refurbished theatre. Food and ale up to Tim's high standards! At 1.99 for a nice real ale you can't go wrong!
S. L.
Treat yourself to a great meal drink. Meet family members.
J.
Really unsaul place to have a weatherspoons but pretty cool! The only think I would say is that the cardboard cut outs of celebrity are really creepy when your trying to eat! But if that kind of thing doesn't bother you then a great little spot
V. S.
Nice place for a drink and to grab a bite. The atmosphere is OKish, but they do get a lot of young audience, who sometimes gets a bit loud. The prices are really good though.
A. E. W.
Set in an iconic location, an old theatre, this attracts many visitors to view the wonderful array of characters in the auditorium. The Playhouse provides it's guests with a well-priced selection of food and drinks to start off their evening of drunken antics (Colchester is well renowned for its drinking habbits). The quality of food exceeds the average, with well portioned meals and a vast selection to choose from, I would recommend this place for everyone.
T. B.
Alway good for a cheap pint
S. S.
Really like the setting in the theatre. For the price the quality and value is great. Found a nice table by the fireplace. Great food
K. H.
Quite dark on the stage area (where we sat), quite noticable when returning from the bar area.
R. S.
Just had a cycling weekend in Colchester with mates. We used the Playhouse on Friday evening for dinner and Saturday and Sunday morning for breakfast great value and being an old cinema plenty of room. Well worth a visit
T. T.
Looks lovely in here. It used to be a theatre and then an old cinema, the 'ABC' as I remember my mum telling me. The bulk of the seating is in the back on the old stage or where the screen used to be. The place it filled with manikins of celebs and fictional characters all sat up in the old seats above the bar. Cheap beer and food and open allday.
S. P.
Doing it's best to cope with covid. The beer we had was off, however they did offer to replace with another, unfortunately we had other places to go and respectfully declined.
C. O.
Great place. Literally in an old playhouse. Still has most of the theatre decor. Feels really homely and as its a wetherspoons its nice and cheap!
P. H.
I've visited this place before in the heart of Colchester. Great food, venue and drinks at affordable prices. No adjacent parking. If coming to Colchester only the town car parks and park and ride as an alternative are available.
B. S. J.
The place was decorated in such a mesmerising way. Really enjoyable to look at. Table service was really cool. Enjoyed that I could order from an app and have it delivered to my table.
W. F.
Lovely food. Lots of staff. Lovely!
L. T.
I myself love eating & drinking in here. Food is always really good so is the price. It's quite different 2most eating places...go along & try it there :)
J. S.
Nice atmosphere, food came out very quickly and the staff were very polite, all precautions taken for covid
J. M.
Had a great breakfast here with my boys. Bit dark in places but a beautifully presented old building and usual cheap prices
E. S.
Food was cold but then they delt with it well, lovly pub inside
J. E.
Food had really improved in recent years, definitely worth the visit and the drinks at cheap. My only little complaint would be that the service is slow.
d. j.
Good but on Saturdays is packed full.
K. C.
Not bad at all, good food, nicely priced, pleasant waiting staff, you can hear yourself think, too. Pre club bar from 10, gets clicky then with to many alpha male idiots....
R. B.
Great pub, cheap drinks. What more can you say!
B. B.
Wether spoons have done a typical job on this old theatre/cinema, and I love the mannequins of famous people up in the circle. Good range of real ales. Food average. Whole place could do with a facelift.
R. S.
Great time.. Jackie in the hi-vis monitoring the queue was very sweet to my mate.. offered him water when he wasn’t feeling well.. exceptional service from here thank you
t. b.
Clean, fast service. Cheap drinks.
J. M.
Place after old theater. Taste few kinds of beers, good choice from around the world. Should be more clean and they should do any live muic like piano or something. Food is just pub food. But place is in "must seen in Colchester list" because of theater.
L. S.
The internal decor of the places is brilliant and for that its worth the 5*. The food and drinks is reasonably prices also. It is of course and weatherspoons, and usually has one character within the place that makes it look bad. So in the playhouse pub there was just one nutter this time who spat in his hands and wiped it through his hair, then growled at us as we left. He was told off and kicked out so the entertainment value is what made this also a 5* review
J. E.
Easy to find, Ordered at the bar, food came out hot, great selection of ales on tap. Families welcome. Staff friendly!
E. k.
Me and my Partner had a bacon lettuce and tomato baguette with chips but the baguette was lovely but the chips was horrible I didn't even eat all the chips! Staff was ok they could be more friendly though.
D. S.
Great food and drink for the price but always takes a lifetime to get served even when not busy
T. P.
Very busy most evenings but have a good deal on pitchers, service is also quite quick when using the wetherspoons app
K. O.
Very busy but got served our food quickly once we found a table. First time here and loved the converted theatre inside.
L. B.
Good food and drink at very good prices, staff are always polite. The place is starting to look a bit tired, inside could do with a refurb.
S. E.
Nice quirky pub with a great choice of food and alcohol at fantastic prices, typical Wetherspoons. I would highly recommend a visit
M.
Had a lovely meal here.the staff were really friendly
E. T.
Very nice beer can have 2 pints for the same price else where in colchester
D. S.
Loved using the new app to order food and drinks to our table, both drinks and meal came out quickly and service was great, great experience, lovely atmosphere.
t. o.
Good value, good food and one of the best Wetherspoons that I've been to. Its not fine dining but it is good quality food served promptly and you want be hungry afterwards
N. B.
Cheap place, good atmosphere also love the app in which you can place all your orders making it much easier if you don't like to interact too much.
J. P.
Great breakfast stop before a day shopping
K.
The playhouse is a bar situated in the centre of colchester. Based in an old theatre, this bar keeps many of its old features as well as little quaint ones. Good selection of beer on tap as well as craft beers, at a reasonable price.
w. c.
Possibly the best atmosphere a pub has to offer, staff are friendly pints are priced well and food is always pretty good... toilets are decent
A. S.
Great drinking whole and loved the converted theater now bar. Only thing is it gets backed out with students so good luck trying to find a seat
D. B.
Good food but the waitresses don't know what table ordered which meal although we had and gave our table numbers
J. S.
Really cool Spoons, the interior is really unique. Service is fast and food is good (and cheap).
P. J.
Excellent wether spoons
A. M. E.
Love this place.old theatre...sit down look up and see the stars on old theatre seats...food excellent. Staff good. Go there alot...
J. E. L.
Food was of a good standard, service was excellent and staff very friendly
B. S.
Your typical Wetherspoons experience however located in an old theater so interesting atmosphere as a result. Reasonable prices but typically fairly busy due to being in a student area.
M. L.
Great value food and drink as it's a Wetherspoons. Good atmosphere, mix of clientele, young people, old people, families, Grandparents. Can recommend the Steak Night.
J. E.
Food used to be good, Breakfasts now very average, overcooked Hash Brown's, cold bacon, eggs a bit rubbery. Not as good as The Yates close by.
M. C.
Fast service and all covid measures in place. Excellent value food for the price
S. M.
Nice lunch and a great range of beers.Could be cleaner.Tables not wiped down after they had been cleared.
b. e.
Love it fantastic staff great food
T. B.
The Playhouse at St John's Street is an fantastic example of building re-use by the pub chain J D Wetherspoon. Designed by John Fairweather and built in 1929, it had a few years as a theatre, then converted to a cinema in the early 1930s then a bingo hall in 80s, closing for a few years before the conversation to the pub and opening in 1994.
The pub is popular for breakfast, I visted on a chilly January's morning. Counting 95 people before 11am, not bad for a Thursday, the Wetherspoon food and drink deals are a huge draw and are very good value pub grub.
Wetherspoon’s chairman and founder, Tim Martin, said: “We take immense pride in the restoration and refurbishment of wonderful buildings into Wetherspoon pubs. We feel that it is right to celebrate the history of the buildings." - what a fanstatic contribution to the country Mr Martin has made.
i. C.
Beautiful building that is very well presented. Staff were very good, couldn't do enough for us.
Good food.
T. V.
Great value for money
A. B.
Very nice Wetherspoons pub and being the playhouse its quite quirky.
Dont want to spoil it but you need to see it for yourself .
Good choice of beers and cheap as chips
Enjoy
P. W. D.
Amazing pub/ restaurant from JD Wetherspoon. Run by a fantastic manager Jackie. This place offers a great range of food and drink set in a theatre atmosphere. Stunning pub.
D. M.
Google asked me to say what to expect so I'll be honest you can expect to get drunk... Very drunk indeed. On a side note the food during the day is good too.
Y. “.
The food and the atmosphere was lovely, but they need to actually clear and wipe the tables when people leave, every empty table I went to sit at was piled with dishes and left overs.
K. Z.
A bit tacky, and food is ok, but it's cheap so you get what you pay for
B. M.
Large Wetherspoon pub in an old theatre. Good selection of drinks which are very reasonably priced, food is not too bad as well. Good place to go and chat with mates as they don't play music.
K. G.
Amazing pub, good food and drink. Has figures and cut outs of stars and actors up in the stalls. Well worth a visit.
S. B.
Affordable pub with a decent variety of food and with lovely tables by the window.
Took one star out for the men toilets (doors couldn't be closed) and another star, of course, because of that Tim Martin douchebag.
J. A.
Love The Playhouse for it's real ale selection and beer festivals. Never had a bad pint myself, though sometimes I have chosen badly!!! Note to self: bring the reading glasses to beer festivals.
P. D.
Gorgeous place , best place in Town , always best price, very clean and tidy, wonderful look inside, best drink, very friendly helpful professional staff always smiling ready to help, highly recommended
A. T.
Good service, however many items of food sold out in healthy options , toilets and booths need major refurb
E.
Beautiful ex theatre converted into a pub. Vegan brunch was cheap and delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Add fried breakfast & coffee, good value, only complain,it wasn't very hot.
D. “. M.
It's quite a unique place to dine with it's cardboard cutouts of historical figures and actors n actresses and the food is as you would expect from Wetherspoons.

Drunk men in there on the last two visits at 9am in the morning and still able to get served more alcohol

Nice atmosphere, needs music, and when it's busy on a Friday hard to get served. My advice if you aren't hitting the town, don't go there on Friday or Saturday

Cheap but generally medium quality. Clientele is of an acquired taste.

Refurbished cinema. Light is dimmed so provides a relaxed and intimate feel. Food is cheap and cheerful. Great value!

Friendly staff, nice food but a long wait for the toilets as they were out of order..

It's what you expect from a pub chain, good selection of beers, food is reasonable and the main gripe like many other wetherspoons is it can take quite a long time to get served.
