C. T.A fantastic visit after a long cold day at the zoo! I honestly can't fault them - the meals were all delicious, the waitress was very friendly (and great with children) and the atmosphere was wonderful. Great way to end the weekend in Colchester.
J. O.Popped in for some low key lunch and wasn't disappointed! The building itself is quite large, with a lovely decor inside that mixes old with new in a very successful way. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Apparently the gravy in a cute gravy boat (part of children's menu) is as good as school dinner's gravy according to our daughter, and she absolutely loved it. It was really delicious, and I couldn't resist pouring it over my rotisserie chicken 😋! The dessert came on a very pretty plate, and it was enough for two. We will be back.
Update :The chicken platter and banana Twix sundae we ordered didn't disappoint!
S. S.I visited with my daughter at lunchtime on one of the very hottest days of the year. Luckily the pub has air conditioning, It also has outdoor seating, but it's very close to, and faces directly on to a busy roundabout.
The place was very clean. Fairly standard pub menu with good prices. Food was very delicious, although they skimped on the chips - which were absolutely gorgeous!
We had a very attentive and friendly waitress, and spent a good long time in there, with no pressure to leave the table.
I would definitely visit again. A lovely experience.

S. R. B.It was good. The food was good, however two of the meals had an issue with the chicken but the management sorted it at the end. The service was fast and staff were good. The place was clean and tidy and décor was nice. Overall it was good.
K. M.Really lovely food. Southern fried chicken burger, steak, and beef and ale pie. All with either mash, standard fries or sweet potato. Absolutely delicious and large portions. My mum actually took some of her dinner home. Warm bread starter didn't have as much variety or quantity as I've had before and there was too much balsamic in the oil, but minor point really. Friendly and professional staff. Inviting atmosphere. Probably our fifth visit since it opened and each time it is lovely. We are looking forward to going again.

S. H.We have often driven past this venue and kept saying one day we will go, yesterday was that day. There were 8 if us and the visit was handled with ease, a total of around 2 hours in total. Venue was easy to park and welcoming, the table wasn't ready but was within a few minutes, staff were all friendly and super efficient. Food was cooked perfectly and has, for us, one of the best selections of deserts for ages, pricing was average.
The venue was clean and tidy throughout, floors clear from previous guests falling food.
The only slight criticism would that it was very loud and we sometimes had trouble hearing the waitress.
We would definitely recommend this place for quality, price and ease of parking.

Food was great, hot, came out quick and really tasty! Would give 6 stars if they did Blue Light Discount but still one of our favourite places to go and very reasonably priced
I. C.Turned up as a walk in around 6pm Sunday, seated straight away. The atmosphere was busy but not loud and staff still very attentive and friendly. Great all round and reasonably priced, my partner and I ordered 3 desserts as we couldn't decide! :)
