Reviews of The Swan Inn

Lovely old beamed pub with restaurant. Outside seating in marquee also available. Rear garden overlooked by large and architecturally interesting Victorian viaduct . The garden is also bordered by the river Colne. Friendly and welcoming staff, food was of high quality and reasonably priced, see web site for offers. Service was a little slow but maybe they were short staffed (was Tuesday evening) definitely recommend, will be returning.

Stopped here for a pint and a quick lunch. It is very nice. It was a warm day so we sat outside. Friendly staff. Its a popular place from the number of people there on the day we visited. Menu is quite varied and a number of ales are on tap. Reasonably priced.
Plenty of parking available and a children's play area is free. The pub is close to the railway viaduct and a short circular walk can be easily accessed from it.

This place is a really lovely old pub with great space inside and out. Built around 1600 and had been a pub for around 2 centuries. Definitely somewhere nice to sit outside and enjoy a nice drink, or inside on a cold winter evening.
The food is really delicious. Had the liver & bacon which was amazing. The staff seemed very friendly. We came across this pub while on a walk and so glad we did. Will definitely go back there again.

What a lovely place! Great service, fabulous food, lovely atmosphere. Stunning outdoor space, some of it really sheltered courtyard. Indoors is all beams and gorgeousness: definitely want to go back when it's winter with a roaring fire! Staff are so charming, too.

Very friendly pub with a lovely courtyard eating area and plenty of outside space which is great for children. There is a children's play park just beyond the garden and an gentle circular walk which is lovely on a summer evening. The interior is spacious and private. Great food and service. David was particularly helpful.

Fabulous location, friendly staff and super food. Took a trip into Essex today to enjoy the blue skies and sunshine. Found the Swan Inn by accident and so glad I did. There's a large car park, plenty of seating inside and out, and the ciabatta was delicious, as were the chips. Thank you, I'll be back!

A truly delightful English pub with excellent food. Friendly and attentive staff so warm and welcoming. A lovely atmosphere and such a historic setting. As for the beer garden. Simply wow, how many pubs can boast a huge railway viaduct as a background for your family lunch photos.

Really lovely spot for lunch with a friend, it was chilly out so they had the fire lit which made it so cosy! They have separate gluten free and dairy free menus as well which was great. Only downside is we were forgotten after we had our main course but it was fairly busy, I would definitely go back!
