Reviews of Woolpack Inn

What a fantastic and charming old pub, a credit to the area and it's community.
Martin, Mel, Lillie and the rest of the staff are so welcoming and look after you like family. Can't rate them highly enough, so much so that after planning to stay in the area for one night we decided to try and stay for three.
Great choice of beers, absolutely gorgeous food and the pub itself is so grand and steeped in history, dating back hundreds of years. Even a great beer garden too, so what's not to love.
Last but not least, the new addition to the family, young pup Stanley, what a little angel and guaranteed cuddles make you feel even more welcome.

Good beer - the pub has its own beer brewed locally. Good pub food.
Garden tables out the back.

It's a great little pub packed with character and if you're lucky enough to go one one of their live music nights you're in for a treat. The last time I went was a Carribbean steel band and then 6 String Makeover!.. absolutely fantastic music had everyone jumping!

Always welcoming and friendly. Good food in a lovely atmosphere. Dogs welcome which is a bonus. The Woolpack is our local so not used the rooms but they look inviting on website

What a lovely place, absolutely charming. Best hotel we've ever stayed in. Stunning room with huge bathroom in this 600 year old building. These people really go the extra mile. Room had kettle and a coffee maker, Lots of drinks and biscuits, a fridge with a little bottle of milk, individual bottles of orange juice, mason jars of museli, dried fruits, thick creamy Greek yoghurt, apples etc. A basket of cutlery and breakfast crockery. Beautiful hand made pottery mugs etc, muffins and mints. The room had a fabulous beamed ceiling. King metal bed. The room and bathroom were quirky and delightfully clean. The staff so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend and we will go again.

Rag n bone man here! Joined the karaoke crew tonight, lovely to meet the locals Jason and his wife(want with me) Martin the landlord is a treasure, a very nice personable bar with a great reputation for good beer, live music and friendly hospitality! Will come back to this bar again and again, especially in the year Disco2000!😜

Really feels like a step back in time as you enter this lovely old Inn. This is a comfortable pub serving very nice beer. Not tried the food.
When cloth merchants visited Coggeshall, I guess this was probably the best place to stay in town. The building is very grand from the outside, inside it's all beams and small interconnecting spaces. They have kept the character, but it's bright and not gloomy like many old pubs. Well worth a visit.

Had a sunday roast here and it was ok, better than average. Pork belly roast came with really nice veg like cabbage and leeks. Very tasty. Potatoes were a bit dark. Things I didn't like were that the glasses were all a bit dirty. Also the dessert was disappointing. Nice but nothing better.
