A very popular pub with nice and courteous staff. Food was generally in par with others. Unfortunately the steak was overcooked today.

Best burger I have ever eaten. I'm not a fussy person and wouldn't normally choose a burger as I have found them to be disappointing. But both myself and partner went for the double and it was amazing. The whole ambiance from beer garden to inside was great. We did a 200 mile round trip to meet my daughter for a birthday lunch and it was well worth it, all came out smiling. Staff are amazing too.

The Bar & All staff were great. It's was the first time I order food there. The Pub it self was very nice inside & Garden area. Me & family members order A Mixed Grill All 3 off us. We have been visiting The Open Arms much more recently because the menu, particularly that for vegetarians and vegans has improved markedly. Thank you for that! However, this evening, being warm and pleasant seemed just right for eating in the pub garden. Unfortunately, even though we had booked a table and one or two tables were free outside, it was impossible to get away from tobacco smoke, even in the one designated non-smoking table. This is very difficult for non-smokers. There is a large covered area of tables for smokers in the winter time, that also gets heated. Good! That's where smoking ought to be kept to. However, this evening , all but the one outside table had ashtrays, indicating that every one of those tables was a smoking table. We were forced to sit inside. This is a matter of principle. Smoking kills and so does second-hand tobacco smoke outside. Those of us who value our health have had a freedom taken away from us. The Open Arms and Ember Inns need to review their policy on this issue.

Nice traditional-feeling pub with good food and good service. Prices are on the higher side for some things, but it's not a rip-off, and you get an atmosphere you won't find in a typical Wetherspoons in return.

After passing this place on numerous occasions, my partner and I decided to give it a try. Sadly, this pub has been neglected by its chain, The future is badly worn. We ordered food regardless, choosing from the 3 course Sunday lunchtime menu, We both had prawns for starters, and both of us enjoyed this, a roast dinner each, Not the best I've had, luckily we'd ordered a side of new potatoes as the roast potatoes were cooked well past there best indeed my partner left all her roast. Service for the two courses was sloppy, with the main coming out without cutlery to eat with, To be fair, this was instantly spotted and fetched. Desert never came. Well, we had to go back to the bar and ask for it. Would I go again? Only if I see it get a refurbishment, as it stands, I would not recommend it to my friends.

This public house ticks all the boxes. Six of us went in for a meal today and it was a lovely experience. Three real fires set the atmosphere for a pleasant couple of hours. The staff were helpful and friendly. The meals were well presented and very reasonably priced. Tables well spaced and a pleasantly designed interior added to making The Open Arms right for us. Parking is good And there is easy access for those who are less mobile. This pub is highly recommended, but book up if you want to give it a try because it is popular! Oh, by the way, they also have a Vegan menu.

Thank you to the friendly staff who assisted and made us feel welcome 🤗 One of the best menus I’ve come across with an impressive selection of vegan/vegetarian options for Starters, Mains, Sides and Desert all on a dedicated menu. I was spoiled for choice quite honestly. We were sat in a cosy spot by the fire for lunch with a few friends and were able to spread out a bit and relax. Good access at the front with disabled parking and pleasant terrace to the rear.

I had ordered the the wrong food for my wife and was in the bad books! i asked 'April' who works at the open arms and all was dealt with quick smart and within 10 minutes April had sortted the food. I don’t eat meat. I asked the staff if one of the salad dishes that contain chicken & bacon be replaced with fish. I was impressed with how Matt immediately took control and started to work with the system to try & accommodate my request, to which he did. “Thank you Matt”. Also the chef delivered a very tasty meal. And when this was presented to our table by Sophie she was polite & friendly.

It was busy on arrival so we seated ourselves in a nice cosy spot that happened to be right next to the warmth of an open fire. It was remembrance Sunday and we remembered... after a hearty roast which I must say., was delicious! my friend and I headed to Memorial Park, the crowds had gone by then and it felt we found our peace sitting on mum and dad's bench beside the tall light monument I could sense them in the gentle breeze.. We celebrated my Dad's 90th birthday at the Pub last night and under very difficult circumstances the Open Arms made a lot of effort to make us feel comfortable and welcomed. The food was excellent and all the staff but particularly Melissa were really helpful and kind. My Dad's been very nervous about leaving the house but felt at ease and really enjoyed the fish! Thanks for making our evening very special.

Felt safe as very few people there are noone at the bar, food is typical pub fare with a full menu and fixed price options for 1 2 or 3 courses. Sadly the DoomBar was off but London Pride was ok.

A combination of indoor cozy seating & outdoors makes this an amazing place. The parking is just sufficient to accommodate 15+ cars. The are good choices of beer. Exclusive vegan & vegetarian menu was an highlight for me. We spent around 3 hours in this place. Recommended. Cheers

A lovely pub with good food, we went to the thursday night Quiz and it was a lot of fun. Everyone was very friendly. The staff were very helpful. easy access for wheelchairs with disabled parking right outside the main entrance. Amenities were clean. Good ale. no long waiting times for food orders.

This is a really nice pub. The staff are really nice, there is a good range of beers and the food is nice. The people that come here seem friendly. Lots of room so you can find a table to sit with your friends or family for a drink. Used to be my regular before I moved cities. Great place with warm friendly atmosphere. Good food. Good drink selection and a great outdoor area for the summer. Although it can get busy you don't feel you wait long to get served as the staff are vigilant and on the ball.

The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. We were accommodated at short notice having been let down by another venue. Having ordered in advance the meal appeared when we had all arrived without any fuss or bother. I couldn't fault my lamb shank : I would certainly have struggled to cook it as well as this. The rest of us seemed to enjoy what was delivered so no concerns here. The cost of drinks at the bar surprised me as I paid far less than I have recently in similar venues. Service at the bar and of the meals was very efficient. Although making little difference to the flavour, the presentation of the puddings let them down. My profiteroles were pleasant to eat but were poorly presented as were some of the other puddings. A little attention to presentation and the use of suitable dishes in which to serve the puddings would go a long way. Similarly, there is no shame in serving frozen vegetables but care should be taken to ensure they are properly cooked otherwise the game is up. Green beans for one do not freeze well and need a good deal of cooking out of the freezer to taste good. Mine were hot enough but weren't convincing. You would be hard pressed to come away dissatisfied if what we were served is typical of the Open Arms but a attention to a few details could elevate the experience further.

Visited briefly last week on a Thursday. Pub Quiz was taking place. Very busy and the quiz announcing was too loud, especially if not taking part. Service was quite quick, and the cocktails we ordered were well priced (2 for £7). However, they were fairly bland and not exciting. The decor was standard for a pub of this nature.

Fast & excellent service on busiest day of summer! Decided to walk to the Open Arms to eat. Getting close, I could hear music and remembered that the Godiva Festival was on in a park nearby. The pub was buzzing! However, extra staff were still serving all the real ales & I was in time to order food. My fish and chips arrived very promptly and up to the usual Ember Inns quality.

A very pleasant first experience in The Open Arms! A group of us went for a walk and then decided to hunt down a place for a drink and a bite. We were happy to stumble across this place and were greeted by a surprisingly large selection of draught products all very well priced; perfect if you're on a student budget! The food was cheap, very tasty and arrived promptly in good sized portions! The name of the pub is apt, as the staff were smiley and welcoming. I shall be returning!

Clean, bright with super friendly and welcoming bar staff. The food is decent enough for the price and they normally have a good rotating selection of cask ales available. They offer a good value meal deal where you can get 2 or 3 courses for a fixed price, and there is reasonable parking.

I can only imagine the amount of work thats gone into getting the pub ready for covid, but I think some work is still needed. The layout wasn't ideal, some tables were still too close and the food took a long time to come out and it wasn't to the highest standard. Multiple tables had long wait times and the restaurant wasn't that busy. However, the staff were really friendly and opening during COVID cannot be easy so thank you for a pleasant evening but certainly work to be done on the food side of things.

Came in for an after Christmas catch up with my Nan. Had the set menu 2 courses for only £6.99 first what a bargain. I had Nachos to start and my nan Prawns we both really enjoyed the food and the portion sizes were really good considering how much we paid and then we both had the fish and chips. This has got to be one of the best Fish and Chips i have had for a while. The batter was light and crispy the fish delicious and all the food was piping hot. Didnt have to waot long at all either. The staff were really friendly too smiling and looked like they really enjoyed working there will definately be returning again.

We went with our grandchildren as there was a £1 per child meal offer on during the school holidays. It turned out the offer stops at 1700pm so we were 15 minutes too late. Late hours (not sure how they manage it?) are the eponymous advantage of this venue. The youthful staff team are bright and efficient. Was too late to eat but the menu looked to have a wider offer than most. A couple of decent ales on pump were well kept and my partner advised both ciders were also good. My car was pranged in the car park and staff - who notified me about it, and called me the following day once cctv footage had been reviewed, were exceptionally helpful. Beyond the call of duty.

We went here for my daughter's birthday as it's known for their good food. We were a bit disappointed to be honest. One of the meals was supposed to arrive as bacon and mushroom carbonara. When it arrived there was no bacon or mushroom. I queried it and they thought we wanted the plain carbonara, only to be told there was no mushroom and they would put some bacon on. By the time it arrived some of the pasta had got cold. No one asked if we were ok with it. My daughter enjoyed the bacon and said it made up for it. However, we had rang ahead to enquire if they were serving food and they told us the only thing they didn't have was the roast chicken dinner. It's a relaxed atmosphere. They want to be helpful. If I had asked them to replace the meal with a fresh one I'm sure they would have done. Probably my own fault for not requesting this. I really don't want to rate them any less than 5 stars because I feel they would have corrected things had I have asked. I would visit here again. I think they should think of offering the option of a fresh meal under these circumstances and not add it to the pasta 15 minutes after it was initially served.

Love the place for its choice of handpull ale's. Small moan pale ale's outweigh the bitter's. One or two more bitters would be fantastic. The food is excellent espeçially if you like steak. We have quite a few. Spot on everytime. Never chewy or loaded with too much fat. Still our favourite pub in Coventry even after moving away from Cheylesmore 👍😃😃👍

Nice food, but service was very poor, the app wasn't working so we had to have a tab, which led to our plates weren't taken away, my partner took them up to the bar himself after waiting half an hour, and we had to ask for drinks again because we were forgotten, and had to ask twice for the bill, need to do much better, the toilets were OK but the water was cold, and the pub itself was overcrowded we did not feel safe at all, so we left early.
