Reviews of Clock Warehouse
T. P.
Beautiful pub at a great location. There’s plenty of seating indoors for a cozy meal and there are many picnic benches near the canal. We chose to sit out to enjoy the scenic views of narrow boats pass by.
Their menu is quite extensive with a range of pub classics, vegan and grill options. The mixed grill platter was absolutely delicious. I’ve had grills at many Derby pubs and this one is definitely among the top 3. We also tried the Korean fried BBQ chicken which was a little to sweet but when combined with rice or flatbread it was alright. Overall the food was of extremely good quality and the taste was spot on.
The staff here are friendly and welcoming. We had requested for our meal to arrive about 30 minutes after the drinks and they did so promptly.
Overall this is a great pub and I definitely recommend dropping by to enjoy your meal with the stunning views.

Haven’t been here for about 5 years and what a delight it was going back after so long. Such a wonderful place to go for food and be with family and friends, bonus it is also dog friendly both in and outside.
The food was wonderful, served within a good amount of time and came out a nice temperature too. Has a reasonable price and a great selection on the menus.
The staff are also wonderful, polite and don’t cause any hassle when items have been ordered. Come over and ask if everything is okay and deal with any complaints.
Highly recommend this place!

The food was great, we arrived at the right time just before it got too busy so our food arrived in a reasonable time. Sitting beside the canal had a great atmosphere and had great views. It is a very nice place to come for food, a walk and the views!

First time back in a couple years and wow what a change. The standard of food is the highest, the staff friendly and welcoming. Set next to flowing water will make this venue ideal for a summer night out. Booking is recommended, but saying that we did turn up and did get a table.

We have visited this pub quite a few times. It's set right on the river. Huge car park. A nice little beer garden to sit in and watch the boats go by. Toilets are clean. Dogs allowed in the main bar area. Area to the rear of the pub (Dogs not allowed). Reasonable pub grub at a reasonable price. Cosy atmosphere and friendly bar staff. We will definately return.
K. D.
Perfect stopover from North to South , 4 mins drive from M1. Very friendly staff in a pub chain pub, right next to canal and river . Plenty of room in car park ,with views across fields.

Lovely staff. Service was quick. They didn't have onion rings left and I really wanted them. So they made me onion rings from scratch. Very thoughtful. The food was lovely. It tasted very nice. Free parking and great views. Kid friendly.

We really enjoyed our lunch here today. It was busy when we arrived but there were plenty of tables so we sat outside near to the Canal. The food arrived quickly after we ordered. It was nicely presented and very tasty.

This place is right by the side of the canal and has a lovely outdoor seating area, the pub itself is spacious and has several different eating areas (including outside)set over two floors. The food is delicious and moderately priced (although I did think the desserts were a bit pricey but still delicious) and the staff are great in the bar and the restaurant and the whole atmosphere of place is lovely. Family friendly and professionally run a great place for a celebration or a quiet meal for two!

Went for lunch the food was very nice and not to expensive on the lunch deal. Waitress was great and they had a good selection of gin cocktails. The location was amazing and so was the view.
M. W.
Beautiful location, beautiful pub, immaculately look after.
Only thing better were the staff, super friendly, helpful and attentive. Served quickly, and personally!
Food was lovely, perfectly cooked and presented and out in a perfect amount if time
Couldn't recommend more highly
J. D.
Fabulous position overlooking the canal
Service was very good as was the food fairly reasonable price wise

Visited here on the way home recently, we weren't expecting much from reviews but we're pleasantly surprised, whatever you've changed keep doing it! Really lovely friendly staff and excellent food! I'd love more cider options but that's the only constructive thing I could say
D. C.
Excellent food totally amazing and the staff was awesome
Abigail was our server & she went above & beyond being very friendly & we asked her to recommend something from the menu & she delivered!!!
Also, Ryan served us too in tandem with Abigail and was very helpful & knowledgeable.
Great venue in a lovely setting!

Last day of our holiday so we took the opportunity of the 2 sirloin steaks and a bottle of wine offer. One steak was perfect but the other very stringy and grissly. Great price if both perfect. Otherwise beautiful location by the canal.

Aimee is a fantastic waitress. We know these waitresses are paid under £8 per hour. It seemed like very young people were running the whole pub. Please increase their wages or give them a bonus. Aimee was very efficient and friendly and we will come back here because of her.

I really enjoy the building inside and out it looks fabulous with plenty of character and charm. The staff are very warm and helpful. The food is excellent and the beer is reasonably priced. The place is always busy which is a good sign stating quality.

A very nice place to go. Wonderful interior and lovely outside areas. The menu was varied with some dishes on I'd net seen before. Food was very good and was excellent value. I felt the owners/management had put some real effort in to make this place feel very special. We went there to celebrate our twins birthday and it really felt like an event. My only negative criticism here was the service was a little slow and seemed to be carried out by disinterested staff. It would certainly be a 5 star if this was up to the same standard as all other aspects.
s. n.
We had lunch after booking online, where the photos and menu all looked good. I have to say, this place could be absolutely amazing! Given the lovely spot and the actual building, it has everything going for it. I so wanted this to be a 5 star experience but sadly felt the staff weren't that bothered to make our visit special, just seemed disinterested and missed details. Food good but very slow. Disappointing.
C. B.
We've been to this pub numerous times over the years, and love the setting by the canal, and this wonderful historic and atmospheric building which is centuries old.
There was a good choice of menu options for vegetarians, the food was good too, and staff were friendly and attentive. We had a short walk along the canal tow path after our meal, which was a lovely end to the evening, and the closeness of the canal and lock make the location of this pub a bit more special.
B. F.
We were looking for somewhere dog-friendly to celebrate our son's graduation, and the Clock Warehouse has tables outside under the shade of several large trees by the water's edge. The menu had plenty to choose from and the food arrived quickly. We were a party of four and we all very much enjoyed our meals. Highly recommended, will be returning soon.
A. Y.
Friendly staff, superb building and facilities. Food was a little mediocre as the blue cheese sauce was more of a sweet chutney. Steak was not cooked as ordered. Won't have steak again here. Otherwise very happy
D. B.
Lovely meal. Recommend the trio of puddings 😋 Just be careful if waitress hands you a hot plate, they are very hot!! Alright for them using a cloth, but I don't have heat resistant hands lol.
M. C.
We had a party upstairs here for about 40 of us and had a great time . The food was very acceptable although the service was a bit random and sometimes questionable, and we didn't have any spoons to eat our dessert for 10 minutes. I think if it was managed better it would have been OK
W. C.
There are 2 sides to my experience here really. The food and the service.
When we were taken to our table there were chips on the floor which had been there for a while and no one made any attempt to tidy them up or clear them.
The staff were very slow with the table service in between courses and you basically had to flag someone down to come and serve you. When Table Service is advertised then that is what i expect without having to keep trying to attract the staffs attention.
We chose the 3 course menu of Butternut Squash soup, beef bourghignoun and apple/pear crumble and we both enjoyed the food.
The beef was lovely and the cooking was to a high standard .
Overall the experience could have been a lot better had staff been dedicated more to the Table Service. This is very important.
e. a.
Me and the girls went Tuesday night and loved the quiz, Ryan did such a good job of being host and quizmaster! Food and drink were both brilliant. We’ll definitely be back ready to win💅🏻✨
k. p.
Always very welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. Brought the dogs in & all the staff made a fuss it was lovely. Such a nice warm place, one of my firm favourites
R. S.
Place was really busy when we visited but it was Sunday lunch time and we had not booked. We managed to get a table in the bar area and as a consequence we got dreadful service even though in the bar area, you pay the same as in the restaurant. When our food eventually arrived it was very good, hence the four stars.
Book a table in the restaurant and don't eat in the bar.
S. C.
We had Kate as our waitress a lovely demeanor, very attentive, lovely experience. Our 2nd year here for family Christmas celebrations. Well worth a visit. Food was amazing.
B. B.
It was lovely food ,great atmosphere and service
D. B.
Great place for a meal. Lovely old building in a village location. Excellent, friendly staff. Wonderful food. Well priced.
K. C.
Had a lovely time with my family, 2 of us ordered fish & chips but no fish only scampi which we had tho that was very nice with plenty of scampi, but overall we had a lovely time. Only 4 star's cause we had to wait a bit and no fish but will definitely go again
c. p. p. s.
Love the natural feel of the place. Friendly atmosphere. Right beside the canal. It's a place you will remember. Pop in for a latte while out taking dog for a walk.

We were a group of 20 booked in for 6pm we pre ordered as requested to help staff. Unfortunately the pre order was not used so we had to order again. It was 7.15pm before the starters arrived.... While we waited for the main course one of our group went to the bar for more drinks. Unfortunately there were only 2 bar staff which meant a large queue. One person being served had 3 trays full of cocktails! Which took time -after 20 minutes he returned empty handed and thirsty...
it was after 8pm before we were served with our main courses and even then 1 meal was missing and he had to wait longer for it to be prepared. I asked for a jug of tap water for the table which never arrived. The waitress replenished our drinks.
We had another long wait for desserts to arrive. All in all dissapointed the waitresses were excellent, obviously short staffed it being a bank holiday on a sunny evening the staff were run ragged.
It we had been warned of the delay we could have taken a walk outside and kept cool (it was very hot in the dining area) we could have been called 10 minutes before our meals were due.
The food was good the waitresses were excellent and should be commended. I hope this helps.
J. P.
Pub quiz on a Tuesday night is excellent, Ryan the quiz master was a brilliant host. Lovely warm atmosphere, would 100% recommend for a great night of family fun!
C. S.
Went for a birthday meal, in total there was 21 of us, we'd been asked to pre-order our food, the table was booked for 7:30, we were waiting for a few people to still arrive at 7:25, but we were asked if we were ready for our food, so we explained that we were still waiting for 3 others to arrive, including the birthday boy! We then had to wait for over an hour for our food to arrive, what is the point of asking for pre-orders when we still had to wait for our food?
C. B.
Went for Sunday lunch, food was OK, but the beef was really chewy, some not possible to cut. The worst think was the service. Half the meals 10 mins late, had to go to the bar several time to remind them to bring things, desert menu and the bill. Probably under staffed
J. H.
Looked after us from start to end even during a full pub booking. Great team. Secured our favourite table. Staff were excellent!
K. (.
Very good quality food, nice decor and our waiter Sam was a credit to the establishment. Would definitely visit again.
N. m.
Again glad they have changed the staff from tiered , angry looking to cheerful and welcoming .
unfortunatlry they lost business due to us saying yes we want to see the desserts menu and then being left for 30mins , being ignored while trying to flag down staff i ended up having to chase one down physically just t get the bill.
food great as always , but i see since the prices have gone up (from already high end for the area prices )the portions have shrunk .
If this Restaurant could be consistent and have competitive prices They would do much better As they were doing about a year ago.
K. B.
Excellent service and beef bourguignon and horseradish mash was delicious. Abigail was very helpful and accommodating with our requests.
J. S.
Great place , quality food, quick service, there was 22 off us and we were served very quick.
F. Z.
It was busy. Staff were overrun
Food was long time coming & wasn't hot, just warm
No bar staff, waitress's had to serve drinks too
Barman/manager was nowhere to be seen
A. M.
Abigail welcomed us with great charisma, other staff members were very helpful and all staff had great recommendations for the menu.
We will 100% be back
N. W.
First time visiting this place and it won't be the last. Food was lovely with good portion sizes - not too much or too little. Huge windows with great views out onto the canal so will definitely be coming back in the summer to take advantage of them. Food and drinks were a good price too.
L. R.
Excellent restaurant. We were looking for a cosy pub to enjoy tasty food and also the beutiful sunny day-although very cold- that was outside. This restaurant, located in front of the canal caught my attention. The food was excellent, we started with some corean style-bbq wings and creamy garlic mushrooms followed by lamb Sunday roast and homemade lamb curry. We didn't go for desserts because we were already full! Highly recommended. Nice atmosphere and delicious food.
D. C.
Beautiful area with awesome views, watch the canal boats passing while you enjoy the outside seating area. Prices are good and staff friendly, was a bit disappointed with the lack of meat on the kebab but an enjoyable meal.
G. M.
Firstly we visited the bar and asked for a Rose Wine and a pint of Estrella. There was no Rose Wine available. We also visited on Sunday 24th July and the wine wasn't available then also.
We were then escorted to our table. We ordered 2 no. Butter Milk Chicken Burgers, these were meant to be accompanied with Seasoned Fries, Slaw and a chicken gravy. Both meals turned up with normal french fries, no slaw and no chicken gravy. We enquired about the gravy and that brought to us 5 minutes later, when we questioned about the seasoned fries and slaw all we received was an apology and nothing else. Not good!!
a. b.
Very scenic situation next to the canal.
Wanted to seat 4 of us at a coffee table in the bar ,we asked to be moved as how can you eat a meal at a coffee table? Then seated at a very small table which we thought was big enough for 2 people as the table next to us had 2 people and just enough room for 2 plates, but we were prepared to sit there when the lady who seemed to be in charge asked us if we wanted to go downstairs as the people it was booked for hadn't arrived and were 20 mins late, better seating as now 2 tables for 4 of us.
Main food was ok , small portions though for price , £4.25 for Cauliflower cheese ! Bit expensive if you ask me. Sunday dinner looked ok but Red cabbage was pretty tasteless , 1 massive parsnip and 2 carrots doesn't count as meat with fresh vegetables . Couple of roast taties but no mash? 1 massive Yorkshire. Chicken was a leg with 1 slice of breast. Think need to look at prices as not value for money . Had to ask for more gravy too.
Beef and ale pie looked shop bought , mash and 3 carrots and broccoli a bit stingy for nearly £14.! , dessert was supposed to be Chocolate Brownie Sundae, came in a small soup bowl !! One and a half scoops vanilla and one scoop chocolate ice-cream , a dribble of chocolate sauce and a flake, one brownie shared between 3 of us!!
When asked waitress, said had run out of sundae dishes!! £6 for a small bowl of ice-cream!!
The staff didn't seem to know what they were doing as we had 2 different customers drinks delivered to our table twice and the tray was just left on the table edge . Don't think we will be returning, sorry to say.

Had a lovely walk around shardlow and decided to try something new. We went and sat in the garden with our dog. What a great view relaxing and quite. Went to the bar to order some drinks all really nice. Down side …. Ordered some food off the lunch menu. 2 starters 2 mains. Food is great but we do not like to eat with our hands. No cutlery was brought out to the garden or any condiment’s. After the lady took away our starter plates I asked if we could have a knife and fork and some salt and vinegar which she says yes they are inside. I can’t understand why you would bring out the food with out the cutlery. Such a shame that they can think that they can bring out the food but you have collect your own knife and fork and don't even tell you this when you order. Back to the Dog and duck we go.
N. P.
We had a great time. Food was excellent and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. We had to wait an hour for food and drinks took a long time as there was a queue at the bar, otherwise, I would have given 10/10. (I would add the bar maid / waitress did warn us of the wait and it was a particularly busy day)
R. B.
Nice choice of ales and food, only missing Gluten Free options (come on Marstons). Friendly staff and spacious dining areas inside and outside with view of the canal. Was very quiet when I visited but I suspect it gets packed. Will definately visit again.
J. C.
The food was very nice and the staff were very polite and helpful. The only reason I didn't put five stars was the fact that a family near the bar had a small dog that did not stop barking. Not your fault but diminished our experience. We will still be back in the future though.
S. W.
This was the first time we had used this place for a get together and it was brilliant we shall be coming again. The staff were very attentive and the food was very good. I am gluten free and the food on the menu had been carefully thought out I didn't feel like a second class citizen like I do at some places I have eaten at and my friends were quite jealous of my food choices.
T. S.
We booked a table for 7pm and arrived on time, it wasn't clear where to let someone know we had arrived. Some customers were telling the bar staff, and a short while later a staff member came to a very small area close to the end of the bar where the computer was located which was apparently where you were meant to wait. That really wasn't obvious. We were seated after about 10 minutes and then waited a further 15 before anyone came to take our order for drinks and food - during that 15 minutes, tables around us were cleared by the waiter who ultimately took our order (We felt ignored). 10 minutes or more after placing the order the waiter returned to say that the beer I had ordered had run out and the main my Son in Law had ordered was unavailable. My Son in Laws drink wasn't brought to us and he had to go to the bar where the waiter was preparing other customers drinks and the missing drink was sat on the bar, yet to be taken to us. Other staff were behind the bar chatting. Our food arrived and although my fries were cool and the grilled tomato's on the vine were also tepid, we had been waiting to long to make it worth mentioning. The other 3 meals were fine and my stake was well cooked. The surroundings are very pleasant. There simply didn't appear to be enough staff around to provide an efficient and stress free experience. We have questioned if we would go again as we had a similar experience once before. That's a shame because it could be soooo much better.
D. H.
Much better experience than last time I visited in 2019, This time the Clock Warehouse offered good service and reasonably good food quality. Prices for both food and drink were both reasonable too.
_.
Nice food. Service was slow hence the 4 stars but would still recommend.
E. 7.
Great food, friendly helpful staff - have been here many times and have never been disappointed 👍. My step father is now in a wheelchair and the staff are always helpful getting a table that's easy accessable.
The pub has great character and decor.
Would happily recommend to anyone 😁
J. G.
Perfect location and with views both inside and out your spoilt for choice. The building has a lot of character that will charm anyone into staying for an extra pint or two. The food was quick and cooked well. The leak pie was filled to the brim..
G. M.
My wife and I visited the Clock Warehouse recently on a hot afternoon for a couple of drinks and a bit of grazing off the menu. We shared a Homemade Kebab and a Antipasti board between us and followed it up with an Espresso Martini desert which we also shared.
We ate outside and watched the world go by for a bit which was nice and very welcome after a particularly busy period in our lives. The food was satisfying. The experience was acceptable, tarnished by our wobbly bench, lack of knives in the cutlery section and the short queue to order desert which took an incredibly long time to shrink.
A. A.
Had a day off, so went out for lunch. Amazing food. Everything was faultless.
H. W.
Quite disappointed.
Lovely building and location, the menu is a bit more expensive than other places in the area, and it's usually fully booked, so I had high hopes.
Unfortunately, the service wasn't great, the staff were quite inexperienced and unenthusiastic, we had to stop them a couple of times to ask for more drinks, we also had about 5 different waiters over the course of our visit.
We waited over an hour for our mains even thought the restaurant wasn't that busy, and we weren't very impressed with the quality of the food when it arrived.
I'd stop for a drink by the canal, but I won't bother eating there again.
C.
Stunning venue, excellent staff and probably the best pint of estrella I’ve ever had! Many thanks.
K. S.
Very impressed, being disabled was offered choice of seata (whichever was easy for me) friendly staff. Helpful. The food is delicious, it has definitely improved . The menu is big with plenty of choice, great service
P. C.
Met some friends for food, such a lovely place to vist. Beautiful food and the staff are so friendly and helpful.
After we had food we went outside and had some drinks in the sun. Such a beautiful setting as well
D. W.
Have visited the clock many times and food and service have always been to an excellent standard. Hence why visit when can. Staff are always attentive and food never fails to satisfy.
My only disappointment was in another customer who seemed to be a professional complainer, but complaining about nothing in particular.
Felt sorry for the new girl who was serving who seemed to me doing a great job and didn't need nitpicked at when nothing serious to nitpick at.
Just want to say you all do a fantastic job, hospitality is hard enough without people being like that. Carry on doing your best which is great and if they don't come back then you'll be better off anyway!!!
We'll definitely be back to visit you again in the summer.
J. P.
Arrived just before 4pm and happy to just make the Sunday dinner cut off time. Staff obviously busy but service still good and didnt have to wait very long for food. Nice enough when came out - would have liked some roast spuds but still good food.
P. S.
Lovely waiters and bar staff in a very busy environment! Roast dinners were lovely, fab portions and variety, pigs in blankets were very dry however. Very accommodating with 4 big dogs and attended to all our needs! We’ll definitely be coming back!!
N. C.
The food was great but unfortunately the service wasn't the best. We did sit at a table which needed cleaning, the dirty glasses were taken away but the table wasn't cleaned and no new cutlery was brought. We were asked if the meals were ok and if we needed anything else. We were not asked if we wanted the bill and ended up going to the bar to pay.
V. V.
lovely surroundings, decent food. Liked the fact I got a custard cream with my coffee! I would have liked the pub to open before 12 noon however.
P. C.
Lovely service with a smile from multiple staff members. Couldn't do enough for us.
Very pleased to have eaten here and will be back again.
N. B.
Looked a very nice place but there was a massive queue out into the car park just to get a beer - didn’t seem to be enough bar staff - so left without getting a drink
C. B.
Good and drinks were great. Service was a little slow and food took a bit long but we understood with how busy the restaurant was.
M. C.
Cracking venue with a good selection of drinks, a little on the expensive side though
K. B.
Great quiz night at the Clock Warehouse run by Ryan, a really pleasant way to spend a Tuesday evening.
T. H.
Very understaffed, slow service unless you are eating.
L. S.
Some of our group had a few issues but our food and service were spot on. Others where compensated with discount’s. I’d recommend:-))
A. T.
Lovely atmospheric pun and restaurant with polite, helpful staff. Good selection of food, cooked and presented perfectly.
A. F.
Abigail was brilliant! Lovely service and brilliant beers on tap :)
H. F.
Although there was clearly a shortage of staff, and it was extremely busy, Elizabeth who served us was very accommodating. The food was amazing and we woukd definitely return
P. S.
Warm and pleasant atmosphere in an interesting and historical setting. Friendly and courteous staff. Good choice of food and drinks.
r. k.
Interesting old waterside building that has been converted into a great pub/ restaurant. Cosy feel.
Friendly welcoming staff. Good selection of beers, wines and spirits.
We both had food from the lunch menu which starts at £6. My wife had cod goujons with skin on fries and an excellent home made tartare sauce. I had a chicken schnitzel with fries and garlic butter. Both were generous portions, very tasty and great value at £6 each. Will visit again.
T. E.
Food was lovely, staff friendly and helpful.Pub sat next to a canal which was great seeing the boats going through the locks
M. R.
Lovely pub and really good food. Beer garden is nice during the summer too.
D. B.
Good food for the price. Staff pleasant and attentive with Cammy working particularly hard to ensure things are right.
R. O.
Great food, lovely staff, beautiful area
A. S.
Great chain pub with a lovely outlook over the canal and a large car park. Feels cosy and comfy inside. Nice outside areas to sit in when the weather allows. There's a big selection of food and drinks. The food is tasty and well cooked. Staff are friendly and welcoming.
G. T.
Meal with friends, food was great, hot and not too long to wait. Server was friendly.
S. B.
Had a great meal and great service from our server Sam, he was funny chatty and always there when needed. Will 100% be back!
T. K.
Abigail is amazing and so friendly. We come here on a regular basis and she is always very welcoming.
S. M.
Good food great staff lovely location.
M. H.
A great lunch today with my daughter
Aimee looked after us very well
Thanks. Michael Hessey
M. P.
Although seemed a little understaffed with the offer of 30% off main meals. Pub very busy. The staff were coping well, extremely polite and meals arrived in good time. The steak was cooked perfectly and a good atmosphere.
R. W.
Easy to get to, lots of parking and places to sit (inside and out). The range of drinks is plentiful and the food menu is decent without being over-whelming. Only downside is that service can be painfully slow.
H. C.
Service was good but clearly not enough staff. Atmosphere has been good.
There was half hour wait on food, drinks took equally same amount of time.
Starter missing condiments, main curry portion was rather small.
Dessert was very good.
A. H.
We visit here to meet friends as its halfway. The food is always good. I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly. However, and as always, there is the service and the wait. There never seems to be enough staff so service is slow and often there are new staff who are being trained which I understand. This was the case last night but the young lady was quite terrible. No smile, no manners and no customer service. The other young lady had a 'look' which made us feel we were an inconvenience. The manager was lovely and so was the other male waiter. It just needs stable staff and some good training as its a lovely setting and food is always good.
R. A.
We attended a wake at the Clock Warehouse, staff were very helpful and friendly, food was delicious.
The location of the pub is right next to the canal, just across the way from where my Grandparents lived. Can’t wait to try the beer garden in the warmer weather
d. k.
A lovely setting by the canal. Nice pub with plenty of space inside and out. Lovely food with plenty of choice, although a little pricey.
J. G.
Post funeral get together. Approx 20 people. Served relatively quickly. Friendly. Welcoming. Tasty food. Checked on us for drink top ups. All good! 😉
A. G.
Food presented lovely, and tasted alright. Weren't that many staff on and possibly new staff so weren't that talkative but were still nice
k. p.
Excellent food but slow service
K. S.
Was a great visit food was good just a pity you had ran out of certain things on the menu but overall really good will defiantly go again
R. G.
Lovely old pub Sunday roast was awful but expensive nice spot when the sun shines, one person behind the bar so had to queue for ages to get a drink
G. S.
Enjoyed my evening here, the architecture of the building is amazing! Inside was presented well and was really clean and tidy however lacked a little atmosphere but everyone was friendly.
M. S.
This is a lovely building all the history is there to see the woodwork is real oldy worldly take the time to look at this place you will appreciate the architecture of the old boating fraternity and get a feel of how real canal people lived on the water cheers mo
s. c.
Superb staff throughout her were friendly, personable, professional and efficient. Food was outstanding and the location was beautiful.
B. S.
Good menu, tasty food and polite staff serving. Thanks, will be back there again.
B. P.
Nice place great location vegan options are slim the veggie (burger) vegan of no cheese was shocking in these days of plant based food
D. B.
Lovely place over the canal, very relaxing.
Lots of variety on the menu, average priced, the staff were friendly but unfortunately they were run off their feet, not sure if they were short staffed due to illness or if not enough staff employed
M. P.
Very friendly, food was great, reasonably priced. Lovely atmosphere. Pet friendly.
C. B.
Lovely location with interesting views and a good ambience.
Nice menu with reasonable price food.
J. L.
Nice meal, good service. Not impressed by online booking which forgot we had a table...
A. S.
Lovely ambiance and the dinner was lovely. The cheese leek pie was excellent and the service was excellent
T. P.
Great place for a meal with family or friends. Lovely food and very helpful staff.
S. B.
We came in our camper van and you let us stay on your car park, we ate and the food was fantastic defo come again
A. G.
Staff friendly enough, if a little bit 'all over'.
Night we visited they had no bartender to do cocktails, not a major issue but seems they maybe need to get extra staff in or get a few extra trained up.
Food came rather quickly after placing an order.
Fantastic scenery and building.
Overall nothing spectacular but enjoyable.
S. C.
Arranged to meet family here as a midway point. Read reviews and was happy to visit.
Staff attentive, lovely location too.
Disappointed with the Steak and Ale Pie.
Obviously out of a packet not freshly made would NOT recommend. Three of us had this dish, other person in our party had vegetable curry and it was just Ok.
Such a shame.
M. B.
Sara reserved us a beautiful scenic table by the window overlooking the canal. It was my wife's 65th birthday treat, and the food was superb. Great setting, great staff and great food.
J. R.
Great location. Attentive staff. Tasty food. Small portions
S. E.
Great setting!!! Absolutly beautiful area. Poor food quality. Staff too busy to accommodate customers. Such a shame. Nice place for a drink. For food, perhaps consider more fairly priced establishments.
J. B.
Super place, good pint of beer and beautiful food. We had a lovely afternoon at a birthday family meal. All the staff were a credit to the business. Service was prompt and staff polite. Will be going back soon guaranteed.
S. G.
Great food lovely staff will be going back for another meal
D. V.
Delicious food, wonderful pudding with the chocolate dome!! Shame your waitress was so miserable.
K. H.
Nice food. Service really slow. Member of staff - lady in the green dress didn't represent the place positively. She was miserable from the moment we sat down, and took our drinks order to the very end when we felt we'd inconvenienced her by wanting to pay part cash part card. I don't go out to eat and spend my hard earned money and expect to be hosted so unprofessionally. A helpful few words of advice, smile, be polite, friendly and approachable and treat your clientele as though you value them. I don't think I'll be eating here again in a hurry. I really don't think the lady in the green dress will think its any loss. Sorry to be so personal but a couple of other people in our party felt the same.
S. M.
Beuitiful location, nice surroundings next to the canal. Staff polite and chatting. They gave us the menu's and the prices stuck right out at us!!!! We decided to carry on and see the food and taste it. When it came some twenty minutes later, to be honest I was not that imprest at all. We all agreed. We all thought we paid for a ready cooked meal from Asda for 6 times the price. I give 3 stars to the staff they were running around working there butt's off. And it was not busy busy.
S. M.
I attended the Clock Warehouse with my friend of 6 years - it was a romantic evening and he and I decided to start a relationship. I'm sure this was helped by the ambience of the setting! The staff were lovely and friendly. The food was excellent and the timing between ordering and arriving was spot on! We will definitely be returning and will highly recommend you. Maybe we will have our wedding reception here one day?! :)
r. r.
Lovely atmosphere and food was spot on but unfortunately the service was not the best. There were only two ladies covering the whole restaurant so we didn't receive some drinks we ordered and then had to ask for them to be removed from the bill. Not much of an apology for the mistake and almost seemed annoyed that we pointed it out. Once we had received our food and initial drinks no one asked if we wanted anything else or if everything was ok and we then had to que at the bar to pay the bill. A bit disorganised.
T. j.
Came with my parents, treated them both as it's father's day, excellent service and food was great. Very polite and friendly staff, will be returning.
T. S.
Food was OK. The service wasn't amazing. There was a young lady basically left on her own ok her first day and she was doing her best with little help. I felt bad for her because she did what she could.
A. V.
We arrived just a few minutes before the pub opened and we had pre booked. There were five of us and we were given a lovely table by the window. The food was delicious. Our only gripe was that even though covid restrictions are no longer in place, this is a very big venue but the staff packed everyone into a very small space which upset one of our party who has been sheltering for a very long time. It would have been much better if they had spaced the guests out which was easy to do. A lot of the issues on the day was due to staff being new. Our waitress had only been in the job for three days and another we saw was being trained up. This is a very busy pub in a beatiful area and it is such a pity that the chain who own this pub didn't appreciate their staff enough to keep them on during fulough. What they are finding now is they are looking for staff and have little experience left. Also on the day in question, there was only one chef. Oh how we felt for him. The place was packed and we were one of the last ones to be served despite being the first though the door. This didn't bother four of our party as we know how long it takes to cook good quality food, however one of our party was very cross at what he saw was total incompetance. Whatever you do, do not let your chef go. How he coped with the amount of people there and still retained the amazing quality of food was down right incredible. Give him a pay rise and keep him at all costs as if the food had not been good after the wait along with the new and very inexperienced staff, then this review would be completely different.
D. A.
A lovely place to eat and drink..staff very friendly and accommodating
t. w.
Excellent pub and if you have a camper and eat you can stay for free!!!! Food and staff 👍
L. W.
We had a nice meal here on Thursday evening and the staff were lovely. They were patient with us when we asked to move seats to the bar area (we prefer it there as cosier!). Good food and drinks, lovely atmosphere. Will be back! Dogs allowed in bar area too, which is a bonus.
S. R.
Was seated by a lovely lady by the name of Sara who was most helpful. The young waitress was very nice and polite I think her name was ruby . Food and drink was both lovely lovely pub in a lovely area will most definitely be back
L. G.
Half term treat with the family. Didn’t pre book. Just sat and ate in the bar area. Friendly staff. No issues with the service. Decent pub grub. Can recommend.
S. I.
Waited 40 mins for food, wasn't busy.
The fish and chips were over done & had clearly been waiting for the other food. No one offered an apology... other food was fine.
Disappointing as I had been a few wks before & it was much better.
I. A.
Came for the quiz night was a very fun experience really enjoyed it and the staff where lovely
S. G.
The pub was very short staffed but they handled it like absolute champs. All working so hard! Can't fault them. Customer service wasn't comprised at all. Still found the time to compliment my son's hair for example.
R. H. H.
The service was excellent throughout my stay. The team were always willing to go the extra mile for me and my family. They even put up with my pedantic sauce asking.
Highly recommended.
T. M.
Beautiful canal side setting and a great menu.
Food has improved hugely on what it was, so give it a go, you won't be disappointed!!
J. G.
Lovely pleasant place for family or friends to dine, I went with friend and had a usual fish and chips with mushy peas, and my usual wine 🍷🥰 lovely atmosphere pleasant view 🥰 thank-you xx
A. R.
The warehouse is a lovley place and the staff are helpful. Had to wait over 40mins for the starter to arrive and had to ask when the food would ariive. the quality of the food was of a good standard. My partnser order a vegitarien option from the menu but halfway eating the pie she found pieces of chicken in the pie. The kitchen had served the chicken pie instead of the vegitable option. To compansate the management took the cost of the meal of the Finale bill.
H. J.
Lovely food, staff were lovely and a lovely view
a. c.
The service was good but slow & there was quite few lines missing from the menu, the staff where very professional & apologise from the delays in serving,
Elizabeth was very attenditive & kept us informed of the situation.
M. R.
Went for Sunday lunch, service was slow. Waited over an hour after being seated to eat our lunch. The Sunday roast was lovely can't knock the food at all, just would have hoped that after booking, the service would have been a little quicker.
D. H.
Very good menu and drinks, staff 🤔
S. S.
The food was amazing and good quality and the staff was friendly and made to feel welcome
M. C.
The building has great views and there is plenty of space both inside and out. The staff are very friendly and helpful and made the place welcoming.
The food was OK. The prawn and crayfish cocktail was bland and watery and mainly lettuce; the scampi was typical bulk produced and similarly tasteless and watery.
For the prices, you can get far more substantial and better tasting food elsewhere, but it's a convenient place to take family if you just want somewhere to chat and have a drink and know the food will be of a certain quality.
A. T. Y. P. P.
Great atmosphere and a band was playing which everyone seemed to be relaly enjoying.
F. L.
By the water watching the boats come and go. On a lovely sunny day was very calming to the mind..
B. U.
Lovely place with super friendly staff. We only stayed for a couple of drinks but everyone was super helpful. The food did smell and look amazing though. Will be back to sample it
M. H.
Food good, when it arrived, pity it took such a long time.
W. W.
Amazing food, really nice atmosphere and location
Z. F.
Great place! Sympathetic conversion of a historic building, great interior and a warm welcome. The menu was varied and the food was delicious. Attentive friendly service and welcoming for our little dog too! Definitely will visit again thank you ☺️
A. T.
Food was absolutely faultless, we had bar snacks, starters and all had different mains, Food & service was outstanding.
Will definatly be returning and shall be recommending too anyone! Beautiful place 😍
J. T.
Service was great. The location is brilliant, some tables have a great view of the canals that run along side it. An imagine it being a great spot for a pint in the summer. That's where the positives end I'm afraid. The portions were very small considering the price. If the prices are above average then u expect an above average taste whereas in this situation it was just ok. I wouldnt rush to eat here again. Wouldnt hesitate for a pint tho.
P. W. J.
A lovely building by the Trent and Mersey canal with the Shardlow heritage centre next door and the Marina just down the road. Food was freshly cooked and competitively priced and the service friendly, would definitely go again.
W. D.
Stopped off for a pit stop on a long journey. Very pretty building, very nice location of historical value to waterways in a village of equal heritage. Staff were friendly but had a meeting going on at time of visit so we're a little preoccupied but service was good. Did not eat as had to book in advance and was told no tables available. Would return
E. F.
We booked a table online for 8pm and telephoned to put back half an hour which was no problem. On arrival we were welcomed and promptly seated. Attentive waitresses ensured that the well presented, tasty food was well received.
D. R.
Looked on Google maps for somewhere to eat on a journey break, viewed a few options and menus. Preference was for the Clock Warehouse and was a wise choice. A warm welcome and shown to a table with menus, service was attentive and polite, food was excellent, well presented and tasty. I have no hesitation in giving 5 stars for my visit yesterday.
m. l.
Always enjoy the clock warehouse. Friendly staff, nice food and a pleasant place to be.
D. W.
The visit was a successful one
The food was really good
Service was also excellent
Felt the tables were spaced to close for comfort
Apart from that we both agreed that we would revisit in due course.
D. P.
Eat here often and usually everything is very good. On this occasion we were kept waiting to be seated for over 10 minutes while a non-booked customer was taking up the time of the host and there was nobody else around to seat us. The service was quite slow, taking 2 hours for 2 courses and in the end I had to get up and go to pay the bill as we were waiting for ages and had to go. When I got home I found I had been charged for the 6 item taseter instead of the 3 item taster. We did originally order 6 but some of the items were not available. Oddly some of the same deserts were available in some sizes but not others. I wouldn't usually complain or go back to get a refung of a few pound but it has put me off going there again and I hope that you will appreciate honest feedback to your survey. Thank you.
K. K.
Nice location, the pub itself is thoughtfully laid out with plenty of nods to its working heritage. The staff are excellent very attentive and happy to assist in any query. The food was good and reasonably priced. Plenty to recommend and would happily visit again.
Y. A.
Food was good, and reasonably priced. Its a lovely location. Service was a little slow but perhaps this was because we were seated downstairs. Was not impressed that the children's meals were served on red hot plates and that staff were dressed in Christmas outfits,in October.
D. R.
Fairly quiet when we visited on a weekday lunchtime during the recent heatwave. Covered outdoor seating available which was just right. Service was prompt and friendly - now either self order at the bar or through a QR code. Food was also pretty good, the gammon steak and house burger. I do look forward to the day the fad for double cooked chips goes away though as they are so often a bit fatty and too crunchy - but I guess people must like them like that. Would visit again.
R. L.
Had a wonderful chicken and chorizo kebab with a side of onion rings, gorgeous!! Prompt efficient service from friendly staff.
R. T.
First visit in about 10 years, and while I expected it to be a bit different it seems to have gotten a little too pretentious for my taste.
The food was nice, but rather expensive in comparison to other decent pub food. The staff were friendly enough, but didn't seem to have much knowledge about what was on the menu.
f. b.
Very nice place, staff very friendly & helpful & food good
E. B.
Lovely canalside pub with really good food. We went for Sunday lunch and even the veggie lunch was great. The baked Camembert sharing starter is a classic for a reason. Mile high Yorkshire puddings and good quality beef and pork meant we did not have the room for the 3 or 6 taster portions of dessert. Recommended!
M. H.
Friendly staff food good lovely place
P. M.
Went for lunch today with family. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we got there. We all had food from the 2 courses for £12-50. I thought the pub was under new management, because the food was delicious, and hot, and the staff were lovely. Definitely be back
F.
Lovely place, would recommend
C. M.
Great pub with a great team.. headed up by a dedicated manager the dog friendly restaurant is set in a cracking location with lots of seating indoors and out. The function room on the first floor gives it flexibility to cater for groups too. An extensive range of drinks and food probs will leave you wanting more! There is a wheelchair entrance in the car park which takes you into the main bar/ restaurant area too.
W.
Visited for a sunday lunch and I was really impressed. Food was delicious and the puddings were excellent. The quality of food is amazing for the price charged.
Staff were also really friendly and well organised even when the place was busy.
Plenty of parking and also some outdoor seating. Will definitely be returning soon, thanks !!
R. P.
A place we have visited many times.
Dissaponted how staff levels have gone down at the when trying to get a drink.
Ques forming with one barstaf
Needs ammending.
M.
Nice pub but no Bud? Great location and ambience
N. K.
Lovely atmosphere and food was good
J. N.
Excellent service from Harmony, a very polite, efficient and helpful server.
S. H.
Food was great but there was a little wait when I visited, staff are friendly and approachable and the pricing is fair.
I have revisited and I still had a long wait to be served despite it not being busy and me only ordering a pint and no food.
The redeeming factor is the lovely Riverside location and decor.
Not sure I will visit again, plenty of other options in the area with better service.
H. K.
Good service, great value, lovely food
C. H.
Food was ok but a little expensive for pub grub
D. m.
Nice to sit out beside the canal in the sun and enjoy a drink on a prefect summer evening
i. m.
This place is really relaxed and the food is greatly improved. Try the Gammon. Oh and the Korean chicken burger and the cookie sundaes!! ... they're good 👍
G. R.
Great food and service, except for the Irish coffee....Not the first place in the UK that thinks you just add whisky to coffee.
S. L.
Most pleasant service from Dan will be back sue lane
A. b.
The manager here is exceptional with his staff and customers he knows how to manage this place
R. F.
Lovely staff attentive and friendly . Food lovely
K. J.
A lovely setting by the canal, good choices on menu at reasonable prices. Great service & kebab was delicious.
L.
Really lovely location on the river and a nice atmosphere inside. There is ramp access and lots of parking. The staff were all very friendly, welcoming and attentive, and tables were cleaned quickly after people left. It's very dog friendly and I felt comfortable going alone with my dog.
There is a good selection of beers on tap and the food is good: the quality has improved since the last couple of times I had been, which was before lock down (2019).
I paid over £17 yesterday for a starter of duck pate with toast (good), an extra piece of bread with melted cheese on top (good) and a medium glass of sauvignon blanc (good). I feel even with all of the positives, this was above the price point it should have been.
I decided against a main after this and went straight in for dessert: tiramisu which was served with double cream. This was excellent and the price was reasonable for the quality (I forget the price). Next time I just wont say yes to 'any extras?' This was my downfall with the starter but I'd learned not to do this for the dessert.
I would recommend it and would go back.
p. f.
We came for a 'Family Sunday Lunch', were quickly shown to our table, and our drinks order taken.
Very shortly afterwards the drinks appeared, and our food orders.then taken. lmpressively - our meals arrived in 15minutes! Great stuff, as we were all 'starving' - as usual!!
C. H.
Beautiful food. Friendly staff. Good prices. Does get busy so best to book a table.
E. F.
Fast, friendly service and good food at reasonable prices. Tasteful and atmospheric interior, and set in a beautiful location with plentiful outdoor seating available. Well worth a visit for a meal or just a drink. Lovely location for a walk along the canal after dinner, and a large secure car park is the cherry on top.
D. C.
Lovely setting , lovely place . Sunday lunch to die for 😋😋😋😋 and the cheese cake ! Omg , gorgeous 👍😉
S. C.
We were taken for Sunday lunch as a birthday treat and it didn't disappoint. Food was lovely and service was great. Thank you.
A. H.
Food was not to a high standard, have been before and enjoyed it but not this time. Also service was very slow had to stop a member of staff and ask them to fulfill our drink and food order. They did give us £10 off our bill which we appreciated.
L. H.
Beautiful food, great service. Have recommended the restaurant to lots of friends and have dined there several times myself.
P. B.
Amazing food Amazing premises Amazing Staff PERFECT I give it 100/100
K. T.
Nice pub. Been coming for years. We were on a 30 mile walk for charity and planned this pub on our route to stop for lunch. Pretentious lunch menu with no light bite options apart from cheesy chips. Ordered this but with bacon on top but was so minimal really wasn't worth the extra cost. I wish pubs like this just stuck to normal pub menus rather than try to do pretentious food that doesn't work out. Shame.
D. M.
Sat outside and the place was looking a little shabby. My main issue is the price. Although the food was nice and freshly cooked, I feel £9-00 for a fancy toasted sandwich is a little excessive. However £3-20 for a glass of coke seems a rip off, and dispenser coke at that. Maybe I'm a little behind the times but won't be returning.
H. J. R.
Yeh it's alright. The bar is pricey and lacks a range of real ale (not an issue for everyone, I am aware) but the beer garden on the canal is by far the nicest in Shardlow and the building itself is historically fascinating. You can have a great sesh here and meet loads of friendly people. Food smelt alright too.
J. P.
Good service and friendly interior not as nice as exterior. Some interesting items on the menu.
J. D.
Great food in a picturesque location. Would have ordered more but service is shambolically slow
S. A.
Great quality, tasty food at a good price. Waiting staff were friendly and accommodating.
P. B.
We have been here a couple of times before and enjoyed our meals however, on this occasion the service was dreadful. Our table was booked for 12.30 and we left at 3.15. Our guests had to leave before we had finished eating as they had another appointment! The food was okay the service was dreadful and to top it all we were overcharged on the bill and had to wait another 10 minutes before it was rectified!
S. C.
Would make a great free house as it's in a lovely spot, beer was expensive, will go again though
A.
Been a few times and the food is always hit and miss. Today my kids food was not great. The mircowaved mash was extremely thick and inedible and the linguine had a puddle of water at the bottom. Adults food was tasty but requests for no salad were ignored. When allergy information was requested twice (mains and dessert), the server seemed a little ticked off at having to check in the kitchen. I caught her rolling her eyes at her colleague after I asked what was in the pudding. If they put this info on the menu I wouldn't have to trouble you to walk back to the kitchen twice. Lovely surroundings and decor throughout although all the times we've been, we've happened to be at the big window and there is ALWAYS flies, even pre covid. This time the doors were open so a good air flow which did help ease my worries as it was quiet busy today.
S. W.
Lovely food. Great staff. Brilliant atmosphere. Good evening catch up with two friends.
S. C.
Excellent service from start to finish. We arrived early and were still able to seated immediately. Food was served quickly and was of a very high standard. Staff were very friendly and offered a high standard of service.
S. M.
Our waitress Sara was exceptional - friendly and helpful. She enhanced our dining experience.
R. L.
Went for light lunch with a friend today £47 later !!
Service was good and food was nice too
But we shared a main starter at £15 and side order of hallumi fries , 2 cokes
We then had a ice cream Sunday each and another 2 cokes and the bill was £47 !!!!!
I feel the way they have put there prices up in s just to much and for a light lunch I will be thinking twice about returning
E. L.
The pub and its settings is lovely. The food when it arrived was also very good. But lost a star because service was very slow.
Half the menu choices were not available... not really the pubs fault as awaiting a well overdue delivery. But it spoilt the experience for us.
I would go back as we probably visited on a bad night for the staff having to face a few challenges with non delivery.
F. B.
Service was good, place very nice, well worth visiting.
I have given it 5* because if service, Venu & food was good, I almost went for 4* simply because so many items on menu not available when we visited, but I assume that this is the result of wider issues with Supply Chains.
S. B.
Great food (the pie and mash was amazing), beautiful building, friendly staff, and were allowed to stopover in our campervan with lovely view of the canal. Will recommend and certainly return when I'm in the area again.
D. H.
Nice bright place, good atmosphere, staff very friendly and helpful, main course meals are a good size, reasonably priced, plenty of parking. Has room for hire with bar.
d. s.
Our first visit here. Thoroughly recommend the sunday lunch. The best I have ever had
C. H.
Birthday evening with my daughter. Great night, great food and fantastic cocktails. Sat outside near the canal. It was dark with all the twinkle lights on. Fantastic ambiance
M. P. T.
Really liked it in here. Large but friendly and helpful. Nice spot on the water
K. B.
We went to the clock warehouse for dinner for the first time on New Year’s Eve and weren’t disappointed. Very quick service from a lovely waiter, lovely food despite being a busy evening for them. We will be returning, thank you
s. h.
Very nice place, great staff, very friendly and good price food and drink. Great car breakfast morning there as well
j. b. b.
I absolutely love this place , such lovely staff , so friendly and the good is perfect a very nice warm relaxed atmosphere here I took my mum a long time ago and she's not one for eating out but she really enjoyed herself totally reccommend to go to this place
g. s.
First pub trip under latest relaxation of Covid restrictions.
Spotlessly clean, one way systems in place, staff in masks etc. Felt very safe.
Reduced menu, food served quickly, all very nice too.
A pleasure.
K.
Lovely meal in a really great building.
J. S.
So very seldom do I offer a 5/5 rating, but this venue / staff came close. In order of priority I list Staff Friendliness / Efficiency, then Location / Setting / Ambience, then Food + Drink Quality (didn't have my preferred draught Carlsberg but the delicious cold Amstel was a ready substitute), Parking was ample and adjacent, Experience was repeatable !
I. F.
Great tasting meal, yet again.
Food tasty, service friendly and efficient. Nice real ales.
In the summer, the beer garden overlooking the canal is a must.
A. a. J.
Great friendly staff. Food excenllent however very slow service
D. M.
Brilliant meal could not fault it 1st class
C. M.
Booked a table for Bank Holiday Monday late afternoon, service was extremely slow, 3 hours it took for 2 courses so didn't want to wait for the dessert, prices have increased since our last visit (not surprising after the lockdown), if only the quality of the food justified the increase.
P. G.
Great food, excellent value for money if a little noisy.
S. M.
It has gone more pricey and more a restaurant, service wasn't great when we went as you couldn't go to the bar to order drinks(although other restaurant users did) so waited 20 mins and nobody came, went to the bar and ordered drinks to be told someone will bring them to your table, food came before the drinks and we had to ask again "could we please have our drinks" they also don't know how to cook a steak medium as mine came well done, told one of the waitresses and she said "oh"
A. B.
Good service, lovey surrounding, good quality tasting food, adults meals very filling. The only thing I would say was there were a few flies on the large window....BUT they did not hum around our food...look forward to going back
S. C.
Great food & good choice of wines, beers etc on the bar.waiting staff very friendly- but menu not quite up to date.will be back ...:)
A. H.
Excellent service, tasty food and very fair prices.
A. L.
The staff was lovely the food was average we had a couple that close to us they might aswell have joined tables with us
M. A.
The perfect place for a lovely lunch after a walk round Elvaston Castle. Bonus gluten free options, we'll be back there soon!
W. B.
Went for a belated Valentine's meal with my fiancee, the atmosphere was vibrant but quiet enough to have a pleasant meal.
We found both of our meals were amazing and so delicious, the rib eye was very tasty and my fiancees korean chicken burger was perfect.
We were served by various members of staff, who were all very friendly and attentive.
We will certainly be returning in the very near future and recommending this place to others.
What great experience!!
Thanks so much,
Warren and Emma
G. C. S.
Beautiful, peaceful and quiet little gem, gets very busy at weekends and on warm sunny days but it's lovely to enjoy a quiet drink on a week night, very very cosy inside and picturesque outside
W. B.
Lovely friendly place food fab
J. R.
Great experience. Simple but tasty food well presented. Well spaced out tables and staff very safety conscious. Lovely atmospheric surroundings and would imagine it's stunning outside in the hot weather. Will definitely return.
S. M.
Meal was beautiful, excellent service from bar staff to waitress .value for money food was first class
M. S.
Had Sunday lunch which was very nice prompt table service roasted veg and potatoes one gripe was not enough gravy get some bigger gravy boats and serve to the table with the food so you don't have to ask for additional gravy and wait.
N. P.
Went for a Sunday dinner. Was actually a nice little find.
D. l.
Get served by Dan and have a fantastic night
J. F.
Just popping in on the off chance that they had a table on Father's Day.
They did fortunately to save me searching round for another eatery.
It was our first visit to this eatery and the place was lovely right next to canal.
The place was buzzing and had a really good atmosphere, everyone was extremely nice and welcoming.
We got drinks and looked at menu, it was very varied and mouth watering.
For starters I had Figs salad on toasted Sourbread and my husband had Prawn cocktail with brown bread and butter.
Both starters were delicious and presentation was excellent.
For mains, I had 10oz grilled Gammon steak with fried egg and pineapple slice from a fresh pineapple, chips, peas and baby vine tomatoes on side.
My hubby had Hunter's chicken with chips and salad.
Both meals were very good we enjoyed every mouthful and extremely filling.
We were too full for puddings so opted for coffee instead, it was a really nice coffee served with milk in a little container and small vanilla biscuit.
We both enjoyed our meals in every way and will certainly go again. Thank you.

Meal out for husbands birthday with the family. Food was excellent and the setting of the place is lovely. Staff polite. However we ordered a round of drinks which took 35 minutes to appear and then ordered more drinks during the meal which took 40 minutes. This spoiled the evening. We have been several times before and not had problems. More bar staff needed.

Last minute decision to stop by for lunch. Really impressed with meal for the price. Gammon was lovely! Great service in the restaurant. Completely different in the bar, not enough people serving and a long queue. Overall really pleasantly surprised, pub in a lovely setting!

Horrendously experience for a lemonade and orange £4.50. Not sure why but I won't be back again.

Arrived Friday evening had a lovely meal staff were very friendly and helpful. Stayed on the car park had a lovely time Saturday in the beer garden next to the canal will be coming back

First of all access was well signed, good and, the car park extensive and free. As one of a party of twelve we all received good service both at the bar and our table. A good range of draught and bottled beers and also wine were offered at the bar. Our waitress was pleasant patient helpful and efficient. Food was hot when served at table and there were no delays to service despite the number of our party. We also qualified for and enjoyed Gold Card discount. Nice thing here was the discount was offered without our asking. Excellent value. Will return in the not too distant future for another family reunion I'm sure.

Lovely pub in a fabulous setting

Food excellent staff friendly really recommend place to go

Really enjoyed my first visit here. Visited mid week in the kids summer holidays and there was a slight wait for food, it was a nice day so a few people there. They have a nice beer garden and lots a lovely setting and great value for money. My son and I ate for £11 and the ploughman's lunch was fantastic
C. P.
I really enjoyed my food here and the bar, where we sat with our dogs, was very pleasant. I am coeliac and was offered a choice of gluten free food and an additional note was added to the order for the kitchen to avoid any cross contamination. The outdoor seating by the canal also looks great.
G. C.
Nice pub to drop in on, lovely by the canal!
K. H.
My husband and I haven't been here for years and decided to pop in for lunch. What a fantastic choice of food and good value for money. The turn around was quick and the food was hot and the desserts were to die for. Will be returning again soon and won't be leaving it so long next time.
J.
Nice staff, nice place, nice food and that's what you want when you go for a meal . We will definitely be going back again.
N. R.
The food and service both are amazing
Very hot fresh and tasty
Location is lovely and beautiful
Not very crowded the right place to go

Family meal for 6, all of us were blown away by the food. Honestly this place exceeded our expectations and then some! Friendly staff, lovely environment and decor. You need to try the tear and share tomato bread but get it with the Welsh rarebit dip! I can't even explain how good this was for sometning as simple as bread?! Sweet potato fries and steak and ale pie were 👌. Rave reviews all round!
K. V. J.
Really nice setting and location, can sit outside and watch the canal boats passing, lots of seating inside and out. Bar has a wide variety of drinks on offer from soft drinks to gins and wines and ales. Food is good, maybe not the best but still worthy of a meal here. Selection is fair also. Would highly recommend visiting, I've been 3 times now and always visit when in the area.
S. M.
Very nice, menu good, service excellent
T. F.
Great value for money I had the 3 course lunch menu 17.50 tasty food. Friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere

Excellent stay. Campervan stopover. Great food. Beautiful setting right next to a canal and lock.
N.
Great place to eat and drink and allow motorhomes overnight!!
It's always good to spend some money in the pub if you do stopover as a thank you!!
😀 A special shout out to George - he's brilliant, helpful and professional!!

Booked in October for New Years eve requested a table on bar level but was put down stairs was told it was bar service took over 50 mins to get first drink service was very slow and the factcwe were stuck out of sight did not help food was ok but not as good as other years
M. M.
Good food and decent no fuss service.
A. H.
Wow, what a Sunday dinner these people do. Had family visiting and took them here because it's such a lovely looking place in a very beautiful setting. The food however is so good. We all really enjoyed it and felt the portions were very generous too. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal in a great place.
P. A.
Excellent food and atmosphere, beautiful place to eat by the canal.
C. C.
Probably the best Sunday dinner around in Derby. My number 1 place to go for food. The service is always great, and the staff are very helpful and friendly.
R. G.
Beautifully cooked meals served by efficient polite staff.... but a shame that there was no horseradish sauce to go with the roast beef.
A. Q.
Second visit, as good as the first. Enough choice on the menu for everyone. Friendly, efficient service, great experience.
M. T.
Really nice place, really nice, friendly staff, good beer. Food smelt great planning to go back for food soon. The beer garden look good to but it was a bit cold out, can't blame the pub for that, or can I, hmmm, No!
R. C.
Best fish and chips I've had in a long time! Gammon came with egg and pineapple none of this one or the other. Staff hard worked but very pleasant. Good atmosphere and will definitely return.
J. W.
Lovely atmosphere, good selection of drinks including some real ales, and good food. We had the Sunday roast which was very good.
Attentive staff and timely service. Some nice views too.
Main menu has a good selection to suit all tastes Kids menu is short but has something they'll all eat - kids portions in my view on the smaller side so fine for say up to 6-7 years old. My 8 (almost 9) year old found it too small and wanted extras.
Strongly recommend booking if you want to eat in the restaurant, particularly on a Sunday.
L. S.
We really enjoyed our visit. The food was good, served by cheerful and helpful staff. You get a good feeling as you walk in where there is a pleasant, open, and well decorated bar area. This continues through into the restaurant area where there are large picture windows with views of the Trent and Mersey canal. Outside areas very well planned with lots of seating. We can certainly recommend The Clock Warehouse.
K. W.
The food was lovely and service was good, overall a lovely evening.
T. H.
Service was fast. The garden is nice as it's right by the canal. The online ordering is convenient with QR codes on each table. Staff friendly and helpful too.
T. C.
Yet again another excellent meal
D. G.
Brilliantly presented food and very tasty too. I had the chicken and churizo kebab while my partner had the beef dinner on our last visit. I was disappointed when I saw hers coming to the table as it looked amazing but once I tucked into mine... Wow! Not a bad thing to be said about the food, we've been there several times and each time has been spot on.
T. O.
Very nice place to sit outside in the sunshine, have some great food and then go for a walk along the canal. Service was great, staff were friendly and plenty of space around tables.
H. B.
Excellent Xmas day meal
V. M.
Enjoyed a really lovely meal for 2 at this restaurant, the staff were very pleasant, the food was tasty and the environment was clean, bright and well kept. The atmosphere was calm and homely.
C.
Brilliant food as always
D. C.
I like the pub itself but the service leaves little to be desired, the bar is always short staffed and there ends up being a single file line from the bar all the way into the restaurant, which is odd.... most people would stand at the bar... but this place seems to form a single line that reaches all the way into the restaurant. Because they use the same bar for the restaurant and bar it’s understaffed most of the time which lets it down. Food is decent though.
H. P.
Pleasant aspect by canal with large garden at rear and smaller area at front of property with seating and tables next to the canal basin.
Some real ales and the usual lagers from chain pub along with good selection of gin and other spirits. Seems to get very busy for food which I have not tried.
R. B.
Very friendly staff, amazing delicious food, brilliant service, couldn't ask for more
D. B. P.
Hadn't been in for years but recently visited. Really clean and well presented and cosy look. Staff were nice, drink selection was excellent. Cake and a coffee offer went down well as well also.
Didnt eat a main meal but the food we saw looked good, so we will be returning to eat there.
The outside area next to the canal looked lovely as well the way it was lit. Very stylish.
J. H.
Very pleasantly surprised with this place. An attractive setting by the canal, the venue is an old converted warehouse. We went on a win on a Sunday lunchtime. Good selection of typical pub food on the menu, but executed very well. Large portions and good value for money. 1 starter, 2 mains, 2 deserts and a eiger of drinks only just broke £40. Attentive and polite staff.
S. H.
Normally food and service very good but last visit was disappointed with service
H. S.
Decent pub. Have been many times for drinking and eating. Would say the food is hit and miss, I have had good meals here and I've had awful meals here. Drink prices are decent for the area, food is overpriced for what it is. Overall I'd say it's an okay pub; nothing hugely offensive about it, but nothing to make it special either.
D. C.
The meal was acceptable but not outstanding for the prices being charged. Very expensive for a mediocre meal.
J. W.
Decent place to meet with the Motor Club.
W. B.
Well presented and cooked food. Polite and friendly staff. Have booked for Boxing Day and New Year.
E. W.
Food was nice, service was quite slow but we was advised at time of ordering. Asked for a childs ice cream to be brought out asap but I had to ask the waiter for it to come out after all the mains had come out. Not many vegetarian options either pasta or a burger! The scenery is great and it was lovely to sit and watch the boats.
b. w.
The food is really nice, a little overpriced but for that matter it's quality you get. Lovely location directly next to the canal. Definitely worth going to for a nice evening meal or even when just going for a drink.
P. B.
Amazing building and history food is a bit expensive and over cooked. Grounds must be great in summer and carnt fault the location. Loved the dog friendly bar but found it a bit limiting for disabled due mainly to the buildings age.
B. B.
We went Sunday Lunch, fairly crowded but didn't have to wait long. Food is excellent and plenty of it. The Yorkshire puddings are so light and tasty. Good atmosphere, good food good beers.
J. D.
We always enjoy the food & drinks there, the weather was lovely so we sat outside as well

The Perfect Day
Myself and my family said we would take our day as it comes so we decided to take a trip here on the skylink, and it's definitely been a comfy experience, the view is pleasant, the food was exquisite and the drinks were refreshing, I ordered the hunters chicken which was the best hunters chicken I've ever had, and the halloumi fries with fruit sauce which were sensational, I've never had them before but I'd definitely have them again. 10/10 for the whole experience
B. T.
Service non existant. Food mediocre. I used to come here a lot pre lockdown and it was brilliant but now dismal.
E. H.
Visit here quite often but on this occasion it was for my grandson13th birthday and they did a great job for us and food and service was upto its usual high standard
L. G.
A beautiful location, to come for food for just drinks. Homemade starter, beautiful tender and flavourful lamb kebab, cod lion was soft and pea purée was a great accompaniment. The sundae was luxurious and decadent but more fruit couldn’t have gone a miss. Great array of drinks, would definitely be back.
C. T.
The outdoor seating is so tranquil with beautiful views of the canal, great in summer. I cant comment on the food as I haven't eaten here in 10 years but the menu seems like its improved a lot.
g. b. 1.
Lovely place to eat friendly staff service is outstanding reasonably priced never had a bad meal yet
C. T.
Reasonable food and a good choice of beers. Staff always attentive. Good venue if you are looking for something with more original character (it's a converted warehouse next to the canal) than the typical plastic pub chain offering.
M. A.
Great place. Lovely food with a friendly service. Plenty of outside space for distancing. Definitely come again.
b. h.
Lovely, lovely place right on canal. Staff very friendly and helpful, food is brilliant!! Will definitely be going again and next time we'll take the dog too! Can't wait!
J. R.
Great location, quite good service. Chain pub so not amazig food and drink but good enough. Good big carpark and good location to explore the canals
E. C.
A lovely pub with an upmarket modern feel to it and right by the canal. It's really nice to visit on a sunny day.
S. T.
Lovely Sunday lunch out with family. The staff were so attentive and we had a lovely time.
P. F.
Lovely pub in a great location, very friendly staff, and of course great food. Sure to visit again
t. t.
I went there for a wake after a funeral in the function room so it's difficult for me to judge the pub
K. B.
The wobbly wanderers and dog visited here for drink (or 2).
As ot was a warm day we sat outside against the canal.
We noticed two rather imposing Geese "begging" at tables.
If you tried to ignore them they make you very aware of their presence by honking loudly!.
The pub is good and serves a good range of beers and good quality food at reasonable prices.
There is a large car park with ample room.
Well worth a visit
,
R. B.
Food was fine but I would say it was expensive pub grub rather than any thing spectacular. Won't be in a hurry to go back
J. W.
Polite and friendly staff, we enjoyed sitting outside and watching the ducks and boats go by.
K. G.
Great beer, good vegan burger and dog friendly, oh, and lovely seating area outside next to the river. Friendly, too, difficult to fault.
P. P.
Lovely people polite good service and delicious food can’t fault them one bit
S. A. F.
Excellent service for lunch and drinks. Great venue on a sunny day with lots of space. Food is typical pub grub.
A. S.
The surroundings are much nicer than the service or food. The food took forever, it was tasty enough, never received the coffee I ordered but was charged for. Overall, it was OK but I wouldn't rush to go back.
C. B.
Such terrible service! I know they were busy, but 45 mins betwen courses is a bit long, we had to ask for drinks orders twice, and where I come from sardines in batter are DEFINITELY not white-bait! The chicken snitzel was also cold. Sorry guys, you could've done so much better. Food was better than service. ....
G. C.
This place has come on massively I've the past year. Last time I went was horrendous but since going back a few days ago the decor has changed which is a lot more stylised, the menu had the right amount of choice and when the food came it was spot on. Good portions tasty food well presented. Will definitely go back. Prices also reasonable
l. M.
Great location and views of the canal and surrounding area with inside and outside seating. There is no play area for kids and no barriers around to stop them getting near the water so difficult for a family if you want to sit outside. The food is a reasonable price and nice. We had food from the lunchtime menu, the other menu was far more costly.
B. H.
We were here last night, weren't going to eat but the food looked lovely so decided to stay for dinner. Matteo was looking after us, very pleasant and helpful. Very glad we stayed and we were able to moor outside on the boat for the night. Very reasonably priced too
e. d.
Lovely pub in a great location next to the canal. Food and service were great - look forward to visiting again.

Absolutely amazing...food is extremely good ..very polite staff
Would highly recommend

Beautiful setting for summer or winter. The food was lovely with generous portions & the staff were very friendly. Highly recommended for a meal out or just a drink.

Unique place. Built over the camel this bar/restaurant has some great views. Built out of a old cancel boat loading warehouse it has plenty of character. Nice food and atmosphere. Worth a visit, especially in summer
