One of my favourite places to go. Staff are lovely, service is quick and there’s always plenty of choice when it comes to drinks. I’d also definitely recommend eating here too. The food isn’t just your average pub grub, the menu is full of variety and caters to all. You can always tell that the food is made properly and not just microwaved like some other pubs. Can’t fault this place.

Amazing experience, service was quick, efficient, both Olivia and Anna on the bar gave top-notch customer service. More places should be like that. Menu choices - don't get me started. Food wise - one of the best experiences I have had in Derby, if a bit unexpected for a place, I considered mainly for drinks. I was very nicely surprised by the choice and deals available.

Absolutely love going in for a few drinks and rounds on the pool table. A warm and welcome environment due to the very friendly staff. Thursday night kareoke is always a great laugh with groups of friends, I highly recommend everyone tries it out.

For me.....an amazing place, five stars. Lots of vegan options on the menu. Friendly staff, amiable customers, brilliant facilities, makes for an all round wonderful experience. Thoroughly recommended. I'm sorry, but to the previous reviewers disgruntled about the door staff. They're actually super friendly. But inevitably if you're elderly, infirm, inappropriately attired or of course obviously intoxicated then you'll be subtly refused entry. Most door policies operate this way. Dont take it personally, you probably wouldn't have enjoyed it in there anyway.

Possibly the best pub in Derby. The food is great and the options are amazing, especially if you are a vegan or vegetarian. They do a great selection of drinks and craft beers on tap. Which were on offer when I went. They also have pool and we went for Karaoke. I would say the layout doesn't quite work. But presumably aside from knocking the building down and starting again I wouldn't say there was much you can do about that, but that was my only gripe with the place, the layout didn't really work.

Decor and interior design of the pub is really nice and interesting, staff is nice as well, however the food us just fine - ordered a few things and some of it was nice but others were a bit disappointing. A step up from standard cafe food but that's about it - decent overall.

It was a good pub for watching the football, I'd recommend it for that. Someone I was with had food and they enjoyed it. There was nothing wrong with the drinks. The little video game area looked cool too. Was deceptively big with loads of pool tables around the corner. Would visit if I'm in Derby again.

This place has be one a whole lot better in the last couple of years - it has a couple pool table ( that you can pay for on card, no awkward change required) it has good seating options both inside and out, great menu with vegan options. Staff seem friendly enough, bar seems a little light on people who can actually serve you from time to time

The Friary is a rather noisy modern pub on the fringes of Derby city centre, housed in a very attractive historic building (former bank?). The decor is certainly nice, and the seating very comfortable. That said, if you're a beer lover, you will actually find a small range of changing kegs - only, the staff will know nothing about those. I asked a barman a question on a certain keg beer, and he didn't know it existed - although there it was, on the board right behind him. A shame that such a nice-looking place suffers from, at best, indifferent staff. Not an essential stop on a Derby pub crawl expect for the building and deco.

Went on Thursday afternoon. Ordered at the bar clearly pointing out the items from the menus and swapped peas for salad , chips for Curly fries with one of the meals . Took a while for food to arrive but when it did was wrong .Did get sorted they admitted the mistake. Quality was not good southfried chicken was burnt in parts . Bar staff looked unsure of what to do . Sorry but the Windmill inn as a much better service .Your staff need to go there to learn more .

The kind of place that is acceptable to most people in a varied group, so you tend to end up here for work nights out and similar. It has pool tables, which is pretty rare in the city centre, but they have seen better days. Tends to attract the student crowd. Pretty good for live sports too actually.
